Thursday's Political Agenda: Tusk Continues in Brussels, President's Address, Morawiecki at EU Summit

Donald Tusk continues his visit to Brussels – today, the leader of Civic Coalition (KO) is scheduled to participate in the European People's Party (EPP) summit.

- The President has declared openness to dialogue and cooperation on matters most important to Poland, with particular emphasis on his commitments to voters. At 12:00 PM, the President will summarize the course of the consultations – informed the Head of the Presidential Chancellery, Grażyna Ignaczak-Bandych, on Twitter.

At the two-day summit, which begins today, EU leaders will discuss the developing situation in the Middle East, continued support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, the long-term EU budget, the economy, migration, and external relations.

At 1:00 PM, in the Column Hall, a ceremony will be held for the presentation of certificates of election to the new members of parliament.

Siemoniak:

President Tusk Has Ideas in Mind, Which He Keeps to Himself Due to His Extensive Experience
As far as I know, no speculation has any basis here. No decisions have been made by the Coalition, the democratic majority, or the future Prime Minister Donald Tusk. These are ideas in President Tusk's mind, which he keeps to himself due to his extensive experience, having formed two governments. Initiating personnel matters too early does not serve this purpose. First, he must be designated Prime Minister, and matters in the Sejm and Senate must be settled – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

07:52

Siemoniak:

The President Knows Well, and Everyone in Poland Knows Well, That This Majority Simply Exists

- The President knows well, and everyone in Poland knows well, that this majority simply exists. Leaders have stood up, there is the will, there is a mandate of almost 12 million votes, to form a new government. In reality, the president can dedicate himself to an action where he entrusts Mr. Morawiecki or anyone else with the mission of forming a new government, but it will be a grotesque - stated Tomasz Siemoniak on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

07:57

Siemoniak:

PiS's Problem is that Nobody Wants to Talk to Them

- PiS's problem is that nobody wants to talk to them. I don't want to be some advisor to the president or to PiS. I want to make an assessment. A false, artificial mission by Morawiecki or anyone else who pretends to form a government will harm PiS more, as no one will meet with him. This will truly be to PiS's detriment - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

08:12

Siemoniak:

Hołownia is a Very Good Candidate for Marshal of the Sejm

- I believe that Hołownia is a very good candidate for Marshal of the Sejm. We also have excellent candidates within our ranks, but we understand that this coalition may require a structure in which the Marshal of the Sejm and Senate come from our coalition partners - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

08:34

Mastalerek:

President Heard from PO, TD, and Left that Tusk is the Candidate for Prime Minister. Today He Will Likely Announce When He Will Make a Decision
- I think [the president] will tell Poles what he said during these consultations [with the opposition], he will summarize what he heard [...] if he knows [who to entrust with the mission of forming a government], he hasn't told me yet – said Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Conversation". - From Civic Platform, the president heard that Donald Tusk is the Platform's candidate [for prime minister], he heard the same the next day from Third Way and from the Left. Today he will summarize this and will likely say when and at what time he will make a decision – he continued.

08:39

Mastalerek:

I Won't Speak About Kaczyński Anymore, Because People Who Dislike Both Him and Me Are Using My Words
- I said this [that Jarosław Kaczyński should go into political retirement] before I became a minister. I didn't consult anyone about it, but I myself didn't go to the media to talk about it; I was simply asked a question and answered honestly [...]. A large part of the political scene began to use my words and me to attack the formation I come from [...] I will no longer comment on President Kaczyński, because people who dislike both Jarosław Kaczyński and dislike me are using my words - said Marcin Mastalerek in RMF FM.

08:44

Mastalerek on Part of the Opposition: The "Civic Revenge" Coalition
- If the opposition manages to form a government, there are people within it who want revenge, and they will do everything in their power to take over TVP. I don't think they will come with a bill; rather, I expect scenes like those in the "Wprost" editorial office some time ago, with laptops being snatched - said Marcin Mastalerek on RMF FM. - There is a part, which I call the "Civic Revenge" Coalition. There is a part of this camp that wants revenge, and there is a part that claims it will not allow this "Civic Revenge" Coalition to take revenge, and that is Trzecia Droga - he continued.

08:48

Mastalerek:

I'm in the majority of society that doesn't understand what this dispute over the Constitutional Tribunal is about
- I will specifically ask the President about this [whether he will swear in the three judges of the Constitutional Tribunal elected in 2015] because I am in the majority of society that doesn't understand what this dispute is about, as I am not a lawyer – said Marcin Mastalerek on RMF FM.

08:52

Mastalerek:

The President Supported the Solution Where the Minister of Justice is the Prosecutor General. It Seems to Me He Hasn't Changed His Mind
- Before 2015, President Duda, as a politician, then an MEP, and previously a Law and Justice MP, supported the solution where the minister of justice is the prosecutor general. Nothing has changed [...] it seems to me that he hasn't changed his mind, there's nothing to suggest otherwise - said Marcin Mastalerek on RMF FM.

08:58

Mastalerek:

Third Way Faces Toughest Situation in Sejm, The Left Could End Up in Civic Coalition or Drop Below 5%
- It's easiest to find common ground with the Third Way and the Polish People's Party for programmatic reasons, but again, they will have the toughest situation in the Sejm. This is because they made a promise to Poles, and Poles believed them, that they would be a third way, that they would be neither Tusk nor Kaczyński, and this will be very difficult to achieve - said Marcin Mastalerek on RMF FM. - If the Left does not very loudly champion matters of worldview, it must shout about them, otherwise it will lose another part of its support and will either end up on the Civic Coalition's lists or drop below 5% - he continued.

09:04

Mastalerek:

The Right Wing Will Not Survive Without Duda After 2025

- One thing can be said without any doubt: the right wing will not survive without President Duda after 2025, because he will symbolize the change of 2015, as well as its continuation in 2020. If the formations on the right or in the United Right cannot wisely position themselves in relation to President Duda and also in relation to the millions of voters who voted for him, they will not survive. [...] If Law and Justice, if the United Right wants to survive, it must refer to the achievements of Andrzej Duda – said Marcin Mastalerek in RMF FM.

09:14

Sasin:

Once a Prime Minister Candidate is Designated, We Will Seek a Majority

- This is the proposal here, a proposal from our side [Mateusz Morawiecki for Prime Minister]. Now the move is up to the president. As soon as a prime minister candidate is designated, we will, of course, seek a majority. This is obvious, because the prime minister, the government created by him, must gain a vote of confidence from parliament, meaning it must have a majority of votes in parliament. We will strive to obtain such a majority of votes - stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Antoni Trzmiel on the program “Kwadrans polityczny” on TVP1.

09:17

Sasin:

The Promise to Unblock the KPO is a Tusk-Style Promise – Made, but Unfulfilled

- It was a meeting among political friends from the European People's Party. Tusk has achieved nothing at the moment. This promise to unblock the KPO is a Tusk-style promise, Donald Tusk's style, meaning it was made, but not fulfilled – stated Jacek Sasin on TVP1.

09:20

Sasin:

I welcome the declaration made a few days ago by Sawicki

I also welcome the declaration made a few days ago by Marek Sawicki, who said that the Polish People's Party will never agree to the loss of Polish sovereignty. He wants to treat these words today as words of responsibility for Poland and for its future, for how future generations will live, but also for how Poles will live today, because depriving us of the ability to influence our fate today is a direct path to Poles becoming second-class Europeans – stated Jacek Sasin on TVP1.

09:43

Biejat:

The President acknowledged impending cohabitation but has not yet decided on a Prime Minister and will not announce it today

We will have to cooperate with the President. He said he is aware that he is likely facing cohabitation. However, he also stated that he has not made a decision and will not announce it today – Magdalena Biejat said on Radio Zet.

In my opinion, we will hear [that the new Sejm will convene after November 12th]. The President informed us at this meeting that he does not intend to shorten the term of the Sejm, and that he intends to adhere to constitutional deadlines. He will not exceed them, of course, but this also means he will not shorten them – she continued.

09:44

Biejat:

I'm concerned we're discussing personal matters, not programmatic ones, for the future government

You know, I would, of course, gladly be the Marshal of the Senate. However, I believe that the crucial issue right now isn't who will sit in which position. It's about how this government will be programmatically structured. What concerns me today is that we are not discussing this – stated Magdalena Biejat on Radio Zet.

Please note. In the public sphere, we have a lot of discussions about who will become what. Who will be the Minister of Health, the Marshal of the Sejm, the Marshal of the Senate, who will be the minister of this or that. But there is no discussion about the directions of this government. This is a criticism, in my opinion, leaders are making a mistake here. Please note. In these elections, we had record turnout, and we also had record turnout among women. Women today are asking about their rights. What about the issue of the admissibility of abortion – she continued.

Today I have a question: why are we talking about positions? Why are we talking about who will sit in which ministry, and not talking about what these ministries will actually do – she added.

09:45

Biejat:

I Believe a Woman Should Be Present at Negotiations Regarding the Future Government
- A situation where there is no discussion about women's rights, where all we see are men all the time. For me, that is also incomprehensible. I believe a woman should be present [at negotiations regarding the future government] [...] Of course [I miss women in the negotiations] – stated Magdalena Biejat on Radio ZET.

09:46

Biejat:

Decriminalization of Abortion is the Absolute Minimum for the Coalition Agreement
I believe that [the issue of abortion should be included in the coalition agreement]. I understand that the PSL, within the Third Way coalition, does not have a clear stance on the legalization of abortion. The Left party, and also Civic Platform (PO), have such a stance. Therefore, I believe that the absolute minimum that should be included in the coalition agreement is the decriminalization of abortion, meaning the removal of penalties for assisting in ending a pregnancy – stated Magdalena Biejat on Radio Zet.

09:48

Biejat:

If We Want to Keep Our Promises to the People, We Must Fulfill the Promise That Nothing Given Will Be Taken Away

- If we want to maintain democratic standards, if we want to fulfill the promises we have made to the people. And I personally want to fulfill them. Then we must fulfill the promise that nothing that has been given will be taken away. But we also need to invest in public services and simply develop those institutions that are intended to help people live well – stated Magdalena Biejat on Radio Zet.

10:52

Siemoniak:

I Don't Believe Anyone Other Than Tusk Has Any Claim or Expectation to Be Someone

- I don't believe anyone, Donald Tusk is already a candidate for prime minister, but anyone other than him has any claim, expectation, or anything that suggests they should be someone. No, the prime minister has complete freedom to shape this government in a way that is good for Poland, and some people may be in it, others may not, and it doesn't really matter much - said Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

11:03

Siemoniak:

Strengthening EU Integration in Defense and Foreign Policy is in Poland's Interest
- PiS is using this to scare people; I've seen such posts from former Prime Minister Beata Szydło, and they are completely unfounded. Because, of course, a longer conversation would be needed here. I, for example, believe that strengthening integration [in the EU] in matters of defense and foreign policy is in Poland's interest. In other matters, we need to discuss them here, also looking at Poland's interests, but it shouldn't be rejected outright. When it comes to defense matters, the Union has too few competencies, and this has always been a handicap because the Union hasn't been able to do much. Today, we have such a difficult situation in Europe that more EU defense cooperation is in Poland's interest. [...] In other matters, we simply need to discuss, we need to talk about it; for now, it's a proposal [...] the direction is correct, although there are certain elements that, as I read them, require further clarification - said Tomasz Siemoniak on Radio Plus.

ORLEN On the Go Tests New Automated Sales Model

PARTNER TEXT

ORLEN Group has launched its first automated sales point under the "ORLEN w ruchu" (ORLEN On the Go) brand. The store offers a diverse range of products, available 24/7. The project is being implemented as part of the ORLEN Skylight accelerator program.

Tests of the first automated store under the "ORLEN w ruchu" brand have begun at the Western PKS Bus Station in Warsaw. Customers have access to a wide assortment of products: from snacks, ready meals, and beverages, to the popular coffee well-known from ORLEN stations. The offer also includes personal hygiene products, such as wipes and toothpaste.

– ORLEN Group's strategy until 2030 envisages dynamic development of the retail segment. Innovation, which responds to the growing needs of customers, is key to realizing these plans. Such an innovation in our offering is the automated sales point, combining 24-hour availability and ease of use with a wide assortment of products. The tested solution has great potential, as it offers customers comfort and independence without having to compromise on quality or choice. This is another step in the development of the "ORLEN w ruchu" format, which could determine our advantages in a very competitive retail market – says Łukasz Porażyński, Executive Director of Retail Sales at ORLEN.

The tested automated store has the largest footprint on the market, allowing for several hundred products to be offered. The convenience of using the machine is ensured by two shopping stations. Additionally, the store has been designed to guarantee low energy consumption and minimize its impact on the natural environment – the electricity needed for its operation is supplied by photovoltaic panels installed on the device's casing. The advantages of the solution include 24-hour availability, ease, and intuitive operation. Shopping is done by selecting products on a touchscreen. After completing and accepting the contents of the shopping cart, the customer makes a payment using a card or phone, and then collects their purchases.

The ongoing tests are an example of ORLEN's cooperation with young, technology-focused companies. The originator of the device is the Polish start-up ZINU SHOP, which submitted its project as part of the ORLEN Skylight accelerator program.

– The concept of an autonomous store, which we launched together with the ZINU startup, is one example of a pilot project implemented within the ORLEN Skylight accelerator program. In line with the adopted 2030 Strategy and energy transformation goals, in addition to investment projects focused on new, major challenges related to the creation of a multi-energy group, ORLEN is emphasizing the development of technology and the implementation of innovations. We are consistently building an ecosystem that allows for multifaceted cooperation with technology entities, from research projects, through scaling, to venture capital investments – says Patrycja Panasiuk, Deputy Executive Director of Strategy and Innovation and Investor Relations at ORLEN.

The ORLEN Skylight program has been operating since 2021 and combines the potential of nascent, innovative entrepreneurs with the experience of a large multi-energy group. During this time, eight recruitment rounds have been carried out, receiving over 500 applications from Poland and abroad, in areas such as retail sales, logistics, security, petrochemicals, and energy.

– Thanks to the ORLEN Skylight accelerator program, which is a technological bridge connecting the startup environment with a large, publicly traded company, we have the opportunity to test our solution in real-world conditions, while cooperating with a globally recognized brand – summarizes Artur Kowalski, CEO of ZINU.

Within the ORLEN Skylight program, cooperation has been initiated with over 20 companies to date, including 7 pilot implementations that have been completed, 6 are currently underway, and another 7 are in preparation for implementation. Start-ups qualified for the acceleration stage gain financial and expert support, as well as the opportunity to test their solutions within the infrastructure provided by the concern. ORLEN, in turn, gains the opportunity to acquire interesting, innovative technologies that it can quickly integrate into its offering.

11:41

Biejat:

There's no discussion about women's rights; we only see men in the picture

- A situation where there is no discussion about women's rights, where we constantly only see men in the picture. For me, this is also incomprehensible. I believe some woman should be [part of these negotiations] – stated Magdalena Biejat on Radio Zet.

12:39

Duda:

We Have Two Serious Candidates for Prime Minister Today
- Parliamentary consultations, one might say, related to the future constitution of the new parliament and, naturally, the selection of a new government in connection therewith, have taken place here at my invitation in the Presidential Palace. As you know, I invited representatives of all groupings that participated in these elections and whose representatives obtained parliamentary mandates to me. First and foremost, I want to thank the participants of these meetings from all groupings for accepting the invitation, for coming, and for the very substantive atmosphere of the discussions - said President Andrzej Duda in a statement. - First and foremost, we have two serious candidates for the position of Prime Minister today; we have two political groups that claim to have a parliamentary majority and who have their candidate for Prime Minister. One group is the United Right [...] The second group is the Civic Coalition, Third Way, and The Left. The Law and Justice, United Right informed me and other meeting participants that the candidate for Prime Minister from their side, as the grouping that won the elections [...] will be Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and they also informed me, in response to a direct question, that they assume they will have a majority in the Sejm that will enable the support of this candidate - he continued. - Then, I heard a similar announcement sequentially from the Civic Coalition, then from Third Way [...] stating that they have their candidate, and that candidate [...] is Chairman Donald Tusk. Subsequently, the meeting with representatives of The Left yielded the same result, meaning they informed that they also have a common candidate with the other two groupings [...] and that their candidate for Prime Minister, also a candidate for The Left, I emphasize, is Chairman Donald Tusk. This shows that in essence, we have two serious candidates today - he went on to say. - This is a new situation, one might say, within our democratic standards. There has never been a situation where one grouping won the elections, while other groupings, which also have their representatives in parliament, claim that they will have the majority without the winning grouping and will present their candidate for Prime Minister. As you understand, I must consider this; it is certainly one of the most serious issues I am currently focused on. Everyone knows that the custom until now has been that the mandate of Prime Minister was received from the President by the candidate nominated by the winning grouping, but it has also always been the case that the winning grouping either had a pre-arranged coalition and no one else claimed to have a candidate who would have a majority, or simply had a majority, as was the case in 2015 or 2019, the so-called sole majority - he added.

12:42

Duda on the Opposition: "I Heard There Is No Formally Formed Coalition"

- I really want to emphasize that I also asked the representatives of the Third Way, Civic Coalition, and the Third Way whether, in connection with this, there are concrete proposals regarding the composition of a potential future government, whether they have already formed a coalition, whether these matters are agreed upon. I heard that there is no formally formed coalition, meaning there is no coalition agreement at this moment, and therefore, individuals who would be presented as candidates for ministers cannot be responsibly named at this time. This matter is the subject of coalition agreements - stated President Andrzej Duda during a press statement.

12:57

Duda:

November 13th Set as Date for New Parliament's First Session

- The date I have tentatively scheduled for the first session of the Sejm will be Monday, November 13th. This is the earliest possible date, taking into account constitutional norms, that is feasible. Please prepare for this, this is the decision at this moment - stated President Andrzej Duda during a media statement.

13:42

Hołownia:

There is no equality between 194 and 248
- There is no equality, there is no equality sign between 194 and 248. If someone claims there is an equality sign, they might be an exceptionally brilliant lawyer, but their mathematical skills need improvement. Mateusz Morawiecki does not have a majority; he lies when he says he does. He does not have a majority, he goes to the President and claims he is a fully-fledged candidate with a majority in the Sejm, but he does not possess that majority. Donald Tusk, following our joint decision of all democratic coalition partners that will be formed after these elections, has a majority. In my opinion, the President has the right to convene the Sejm when he deems it appropriate, as this is his competence. However, he has one candidate for Prime Minister who has legitimately demonstrated to him a majority in parliament. There is no reason to wait, no reason to delay; in the first step, we simply need to nominate the candidate who will ensure a safe change of power in Poland and a government that functions as quickly as possible. This is essential for our security - stated Szymon Hołownia in the Sejm.

13:43

Hołownia on PiS: They Talk Amongst Themselves About Talking to Someone
- They talk amongst themselves about talking to someone. Those are the kinds of conversations they have. The ship is sinking, and the captain tells the sailors not to abandon ship, 'listen, I've got this, I'm sorting it out, I'll fix it, I'll do it, don't be afraid.' They are buying time, or rather, I'll put it differently, they are stealing our time and the time of Polish women and men who are waiting for the election results, which they dictated to us, to be realized - stated Szymon Hołownia in the Sejm.

13:53

Hołownia:

I Assume the President Might Positively Surprise Us
- Yesterday, entering the conversation with the President, I thought the probability of Donald Tusk being appointed in the first step was 0%. Currently, I estimate it at slightly less than 30%. So, I assume the President might surprise us positively and not waste our time. Let's hope so. However, I understand that Prime Minister Morawiecki will report to him before his decision whether he has the 18 MPs he is missing, or not. If Konfederacja were to join this, of course, Konfederacja announced that it does not want to join, so tens of MPs are just fantasies and a completely senseless stalling tactic for all of us. They are simply brazen, that must be said directly, in disrespecting the election results, which are clear and obvious and sealed by a record turnout - stated Szymon Hołownia in the Sejm.

13:59

Tusk:

Time is Priceless. How Much and When Poland Receives Funds Depends on the Pace
- Time is priceless for Poland right now, and it would be good not to prolong this process beyond what is clearly necessary [...] how much and when Poland receives funds depends on the pace. This might not be the only important or the most important thing, but I would very much like practical matters to finally start playing a role in Polish politics as well, and that's why it would be good to avoid political squabbles and instead have simple, obvious decisions, because in the end, it will benefit all Poles the most - said Donald Tusk in a conversation with journalists in Brussels. - Any delay here is absolutely unacceptable. But if Mr. President believes he needs much more time, I can only patiently wait for that decision, because that is what the Constitution says - he continued.

14:10

Tusk on Legal Changes to Unblock KPO: "The Conclusion of the Legislative Process Will Not Be Necessary"
- As soon as a new government is formed and takes its first decisions clearly indicating the restoration of the rule of law and constitutional order, then of course everyone in Europe is fully in favour of Poland receiving the money as quickly as possible [...] we must implement the first decisions, these first steps, they should be enough for these funds to be immediately unblocked – Donald Tusk said in an interview with journalists in Brussels. - The conclusion of the legislative process will not be necessary, it has been known for years, not even months, that Europe wants Poland to be at the centre of everything important happening in Europe and in the world, and Europe truly, all political leaders, prime ministers, regardless of their party affiliation, want this money to reach Poland as quickly as possible. [...] If it is my government, we will take these steps very quickly, so that the first payments may be possible as early as December – he continued.

14:17

Tusk:

It's Not the President's Role to Review or Participate in Coalition Agreement Formation
- The president's job is to designate a candidate for prime minister who has a chance of gaining a majority in parliament, that's all. It is not the president's role to review or participate in the formation of a coalition agreement. The parties that won the election, the democratic parties, have reached an agreement, and the president's role is to verify whether they have a majority, not who will be a deputy minister in which cabinet, and I think the president knows this well too. But if the president believes that such a game of delay is needed for something, I have no influence over that, I can only say very clearly: every day of delay entails risks for Poland [...]. Perhaps the president is playing a bit of a game - said Donald Tusk in an interview with journalists in Brussels.

Pekao Analysts: Little Fiscal Room Left for Electoral Promises

Spending ambitions are high. Tax revenues are low. Debt can be incurred, but at a high cost. There is little fiscal room left for electoral promises - wrote Bank Pekao analysts.

What were the sources of our optimism? History. Previous years have accustomed us to the fact that the Ministry of Finance (@MF_GOV_PL) usually assumes a fairly large deficit, but then does not implement it. Money was always found somehow. It turns out that in 2023 it won't be found and the deficit will be large: around PLN 92 billion. 3/9

BGK President: Thanks to BGK Guarantees in Cooperation with the Entire Banking Sector, We Saved Over Half a Million Jobs During the COVID-19 Crisis
Thanks to BGK guarantees in cooperation with the entire banking sector, we strongly supported entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 crisis. As a result, we saved over half a million jobs - wrote Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka.

18:32

Hołownia:

We Should Respond to the President's Call and Be Ready with Government Composition and Coalition Agreement as Soon as Possible
- The President also sent a clear signal today, he wants to see a government, he wants to see a coalition agreement. I think we should, so to speak, respond to this call from the President and be ready as soon as possible with the composition of the government and the coalition agreement, so that no one has any doubts that Donald Tusk should be appointed as the coalition Prime Minister in the first step, to avoid wasting time – said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Marek Tejchman on RMF FM's "Popołudniowa rozmowa" (Afternoon Conversation).

18:37

Hołownia:

We Must Remind People That PiS Still Governs, That They Bear Responsibility for the Country
- I know what the other side is playing at today; they want this all to last as long as possible, for people's hope to deflate. For them to stop believing, to start coming to us and saying: listen, we voted for you two months ago, and things are still the same. We must remind people that PiS still governs, that they are still responsible for the country, that we haven't had the chance to take on that responsibility yet, that we are waiting for it, that we are eager for it, but this process is being prolonged - said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

18:44

Hołownia:

This is Not a Good Time for Fundamental Changes to the EU's Structure
- From our perspective, this is not a good time to implement fundamental changes to the very DNA and structure of the European Union. [...] We also have our very clear voice here: given our geopolitical position, the elections in Slovakia, the situation in Germany with the AFD, as they are, if we now start, inflame, and kick off a debate about the right of veto and majorities in the European Union, we will give powerful fuel, and this is truly not needed today, to organizations and parties that will tell us about Polexit and that the European Union is useless - said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

18:47

Hołownia:

I am cautious about privatization; it should be very well thought out
- I am cautious when it comes to privatization trends. In my opinion, it should be very well thought out. The state doesn't have to own, for example, a candy factory. There is one, at least I know of one, but in the strategic sector, it should retain ownership – said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

18:59

Hołownia on the Bill Legalizing Abortion up to the 12th Week: I Will Vote Against It, I Say So Openly
- We need to prepare and hold a referendum [on abortion] as soon as possible. First, we will have to [...] take away the fear from women. Through regulations, guidelines for the National Health Fund [...] so that [doctors] are not afraid in situations where there is an evident threat to the mother, not afraid to make decisions that can save them - said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with RMF FM. - We need to pass that law again as soon as possible, hold a referendum, so that the President is bound by its results, which follows from the Constitution, and when he talks about having the support of 10.5 million Poles who voted for him and that he doesn't always have to listen to the Sejm, he will hear the voice of 10, 11, 15 million Poles who will tell him, as equals, what they want today - he continued. - The nation has decided, the nation has spoken, I have nothing to say in this matter [if citizens in a referendum support legal abortion up to the 12th week of pregnancy]. [...] I know how I will vote, if such a bill is put before the Sejm, I will vote against it. And I have been saying this openly, publicly, to my voters for a very long time. In my political group, everyone votes according to their own conscience, not the conscience of the leader - he further stated.

Szłapka on Presidential Palace Visit: Official with a Large Dose of Courtesy
- It was official with a large dose of courtesy [the visit to President Andrzej Duda], if I may say so. Well, there was a discussion about facts, meaning the facts are that the president, I believe, observes the political scene, so even from the statement that was made two hours before our meeting, he knew there was a stable majority. From Civic Coalition's side, from Donald Tusk's side, he received a clear assurance that Civic Coalition's candidate for prime minister is Donald Tusk. And the next day, he received a clear assurance that The Third Way and The Left also share this view – stated Adam Szłapka in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

19:03

Szłapka:

If the President Cared, We Could Already Be in a New Sejm Term
- The truth is that if the president is saying today that there is no coalition agreement here, then PiS, as if unable to legitimize a majority, also has no coalition agreement. Why is the president doing this? Well, the president is doing it for the same reason he said today that the term lasts until November 12th. And the truth is that the president has 30 days after the announcement of the election results, after the elections, to convene the first session of the Sejm. If the president cared, we could already be in a new Sejm term, but we are waiting until November 13th. Similarly, I believe we will witness Prime Minister Morawiecki, a prime minister without a majority, delivering his expose and we will wait for two weeks. I think this will happen, I consider it a waste of time – said Adam Szłapka on Radio Zet.

The President Considers the Justice System His Exclusive Domain. Many Talks Needed to Prevent Vetoes and Constitutional Tribunal Referrals
- The president [...] considers the issue of the justice system, judges, as his exclusive domain, or as an inalienable and non-negotiable domain, so these negotiations will not be easy. [...] I have the impression that in certain aspects we will diverge from the president and many talks will be needed, which could lead to him not vetoing laws or, God forbid, not sending them to Ms. Przyłębska - said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

A Former Politician Linked to the PiS Camp Told Me - Where Shredders Go, Copiers Follow
- I think the President still wants to remain loyal to his political camp to this extent. Because they simply need it, for two reasons. The first reason is money. That's what's definitely most important to PiS [...]. And the second thing is that many people there know what they have up their sleeve. And if they know what they have up their sleeve, they think, 'I'll just feed everything into the shredder now and no one will figure out what I've been up to.' But the truth is, because a former politician linked to the PiS camp told me - where shredders go, copiers follow – stated Adam Szłapka on Radio Zet.

Scheuring-Wielgus:

Perhaps the President will entrust Morawiecki with the mission of forming a government to publicly humiliate him
- Of course, President Andrzej Duda is trying to distort reality a bit, but it seems to me that this is connected with a game he has started to play. And the game is that he wants to secure a good position for himself in the succession after Jarosław Kaczyński. The fact that Mastalerek was appointed head of the Presidential Chancellery [Presidential Cabinet - ed.] half an hour before the meetings is no coincidence. I believe that by - probably so it will be - entrusting Morawiecki with forming a government, knowing that Morawiecki will fail, President Andrzej Duda perhaps wants to publicly humiliate him so that his position within PiS will be much higher - said Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's 'Kropka nad i'.

Szynkowski vel Sęk on Unblocking the KPO: Nothing Indicates Tusk's Visit Could Help

- Donald Tusk said he would go to Brussels the day after the elections and unblock the funds. Several days have passed since the elections, and it was clearly evident that his declaration was a lie; only naive people could believe it. Today, Donald Tusk is putting on a kind of theater. He is going to Brussels, holding talks, and trying to use a form of blackmail and pressure on the president, claiming that it is the summoning of a new Sejm session that influences whether the funds will be unblocked – stated Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk in the program "Gość wiadomości TVP Info.

- This is all theater. Donald Tusk is once again using financial resources that Poland is entitled to for his own particular political goals. Of course, I would wish for these funds to be disbursed, but today, nothing indicates that Donald Tusk's visit could help. It's also worth remembering that in the past, politicians from Civic Platform in the European Parliament tried to hinder the acquisition of these funds – he added.

Szynkowski vel Sęk: I don't know what Tusk's belief is based on, that the EC will unblock funds for his smile

- Regardless of who governs in the future, the standards should be the same for everyone. Today I also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the European Commission and I asked whether, so to speak, these conditions remain unchanged all the time, and I heard that indeed these conditions remain unchanged. Therefore, I don't know what Donald Tusk heard, and from whom, and what his conviction is based on, that the European Commission will unblock funds for his smile in this matter. If it were so, it would be a purely political decision – stated Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk on TVP Info.

Szłapka:

If Morawiecki Really Told the President He'd Have a Parliamentary Majority, Life Has Outdone the Cabaret
- If Morawiecki really said that [to President Andrzej Duda, that he would have a parliamentary majority], then life has outdone the cabaret. We know that he doesn't have a majority, even if he built it with Konfederacja – there is no majority. [...] All formations from the democratic side have indicated Donald Tusk as the candidate for Prime Minister. And this is very easy to count. Even if the President did not watch the election conference of the leaders of KO, Trzecia Droga, and Lewica, where this was clearly stated, he heard it expressis verbis yesterday and the day before yesterday at meetings – said Adam Szłapka in TVN24's "Kropka nad i".
