Cenckiewicz:

Brejza's Utterances Come as No Surprise

I believe the subject matter of this Cabinet Council, in a way, does not fall within my remit as the head of the BBN. If we were discussing the development of the Armed Forces, special services, or the budget related to security issues, then surely the President would have invited me to such a Cabinet Council – stated Sławomir Cenckiewicz in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News’ ‘Graffiti’.

The pronouncements from MEP Brejza come as no surprise to me whatsoever. I am familiar with the history of almost identical parliamentary questions he submitted, which were found in Krzysztof Dusza’s office. I believe that some of the media brutally attacking me today are, in a sense, being orchestrated – in that these are very often friendly and professional connections, directed by people who genuinely despise me, including those in the SKW – continued the head of the BBN.

08:30

Cenckiewicz:

Cooperation with Ministry of National Defense 'Looks Exemplary'

Cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense, not only with Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz himself, looks, I would even say, exemplary. That's how I'd put it. Issues concerning general promotions, certain crisis actions or crisis responses, such as the Russian drone incident, are all, as it were, preceded by and marked by ongoing contact with the Deputy Prime Minister, and not just with him; and generally, from our side, from my side, we cannot speak of any complaints or blockages from the Ministry of National Defense – stated Sławomir Cenckiewicz in "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

08:32

Cenckiewicz on Classified Information Access: 'The Law Is On My Side'

'The law is on my side, on our side. We abide by the law; the court, by its decision and judgment of June 17th, reinstated my 8 accesses to classified information, 8 clearances, and that is the state of affairs. Administrative law very clearly regulates this issue,' stated Sławomir Cenckiewicz on 'Graffiti' on Polsat News.

08:41

"A Matter for Verification": Cenckiewicz on the Armed Forces Support Fund

Of the ministers, Minister Błaszczak was the one who least played fast and loose with this matter. We've observed such financial manipulation over the last few months, or almost two years. But I say this with concern for the Armed Forces and their budget. I think – I don't want to speak for President Nawrocki – but this issue you're asking about should be one of the first to be verified. Indeed, the expenditures or budget of the Armed Forces today amount to, if I'm not mistaken, over PLN 184 billion. Such a budget has never existed, although it must be said that it is the result of progress that began in 2016 – stated Sławomir Cenckiewicz on "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

The problem lies in – and this is a matter for verification – how much of that PLN 184 billion constitutes an amount essentially used for loan repayment, funds that originate from the Armed Forces Support Fund – he continued.

08:56

Leśkiewicz:

We are a Country Open to Ukrainians, But Now It's Time to Adopt the Principle of Balance

– Mr. President clearly emphasized his support for helping Ukrainians – which is both natural and obvious. We have been helping Ukrainians for over 3.5 years. We were the first state in the EU to systematically address the issue of aiding Ukrainians by adopting the Act on Assistance to Ukrainian Citizens; this was accomplished by the United Right government. Refugees from Ukraine who found shelter in Poland received financial benefits and healthcare – said Rafał Leśkiewicz on Radio Wnet.

– Now it's time to adopt the principle of balance – a principle where working Poles have the same rights as Ukrainian residents in Poland, those who have found shelter here. Therefore, if refugees from Ukraine work in Poland and pay taxes, they should benefit from social assistance and medical support on the same terms as other residents of the Republic of Poland. We are a country open to Ukrainians, we help them, we have a logistics hub in Jasionka – he continued.

08:57

Cenckiewicz suggests the possibility of publishing an annex to the WSI report:

We are in the process of content verification.

Certainly not today [President Nawrocki will not publish the annex to the report on the liquidation of the WSI], but the president announced it, Minister Leśkiewicz announced it, and just yesterday I spoke with the president, who is keenly interested in this. Yes, we are in the process of verifying the content of the annex concerning the liquidation of the WSI – stated Sławomir Cenckiewicz on “Graffiti” Polsat News.

We must take into account the Constitutional Tribunal's ruling, which effectively mandated the anonymization of all data, including operational matters, code names, etc. This, of course, needs to be done, and then, after this verification and some opinion from the National Security Bureau (BBN), the president will make the final decision. This is the direction [to disclose it] – he continued.

Nawrocki Opens Council of Ministers Meeting: 'I Believe We Can Avoid Transferring and Escalating Political Emotions'

The Council of Ministers, and I deeply believe this, during our meeting today, will become a forum for cooperation, for developing certain mechanisms of action between the President of Poland and the Polish government. It will be a place where we will discuss issues important for the Polish people, those matters which, despite the differences we note between the President, the Prime Minister, and the Polish government, will nonetheless allow us to find those issues that are common to us and help resolve questions crucial for Poles. I trust that the Council of Ministers meetings over the next 5 years will be just such a forum, not only for the exchange of ideas but also for systematizing certain mechanisms of our cooperation, with the Polish people in mind, and for resolving matters important and essential for our homeland – stated President Karol Nawrocki during the Council of Ministers meeting.

I also believe that at the Council of Ministers meetings, esteemed Prime Minister, ladies and gentlemen, we will manage not to transfer or escalate the political emotions that you experience during parliamentary proceedings. I would like this to be a forum for substantive and important discussion – he continued.

09:14

Nawrocki to Tusk: 'I Can Resubmit My Plan 21, If the Prime Minister Wishes'

I know that you represent different political circles, but I believe that updating our commitments and action programs for the coming years would be greatly beneficial to us. What I mean is, my Plan 21, a program for Poland with which I ran in the presidential elections, is still relevant, but for formal reasons, I can send it to the Prime Minister once again, if the Prime Minister so desires – stated President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

09:15

Nawrocki Questions Ministers on KO's 100 Pledges, Third Way's 12 Guarantees, and The Left's Program:

Are They Still Relevant?

I would also be grateful if you, ministers, could update your 100 pledges of KO, 12 guarantees of the Third Way, or the program of The Left, by indicating whether they remain relevant to you or whether we need to seek a form of agreement regarding them that will impact the legislative system of the Polish state. Such a clear roadmap would ensure that the president would be informed about what remains current for you from the program with which you campaigned in the parliamentary elections and those commitments to Poles, and it would also be valuable for me as the President of Poland – stated President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

09:19

Nawrocki on Chaos in Presidential-Government Cooperation: 'I Receive Three Amendments to the Same Laws Simultaneously'

We must also eliminate, I feel, a certain kind of chaos in the cooperation between the President and the Polish government. I consider it chaotic if I receive three amendments to the same laws at the same time – stated President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

09:21

Nawrocki on 800+ Changes: "I was deeply convinced this was a proposal Tusk and my main opponent supported."

I also felt that as of February 2025, and indeed during the election campaign – I believe this is the best illustration of the entire situation – all political circles in Poland support solutions aimed at providing the 800+ benefit solely to working Ukrainians. I was deeply convinced that this was a program not only for me, as President of Poland, but also a proposal supported by Prime Minister Tusk – my main opponent, backed by the Prime Minister's political circle. And now, at a moment when I am implementing my program and making concrete decisions, it begins, in a certain sense, to be questioned by your circle, – stated President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

09:26

Nawrocki Jabs Domański Over PiS Subsidies: 'He Sparked Civic Engagement of Poles Who Funded My Campaign'

– I am very glad that Minister Domański is with us. I think that one day, Minister Domański and I will be featured on the same page in textbooks about election campaigns. I was just a candidate, but Minister Domański initiated this process of civic engagement among many Poles, who made it possible for me to conduct my election campaign – a campaign I couldn't run due to financial resources that, contrary to the law, were not provided for my election campaign – stated President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

– This led to millions of Polish women and men financing my election campaign, for which I now have the opportunity to express my gratitude – he added.

09:26

Nawrocki to Tusk: 'I Hear of Proposals for 6 Tax Hikes. I Will Not Accept Them.'

I also hear about proposals for 6 tax increases prepared by the government. I consistently maintain that spreading these burdens across subsequent social groups, increasing levies and taxes, is something I do not intend to accept as President of Poland. I believe that this requires more effort from the government, the Ministry of Finance, to tighten the tax system and to take care of public finances – stated President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

09:30

Nawrocki Questions Development Investment Cuts: 'I Fear This is the Direction the Government Will Take'

It is always the case that the first victims of the state's difficult financial situation are development investments. Unfortunately, this very often happens. I fear that this is precisely the direction the government will take. I would like to be wrong, but I fear that this is the direction the government will take. In 1.5 years, as we know, the CPK project has accumulated 1.5 years of delays, despite the scope of CPK being significantly limited. The delays related to the construction of the nuclear power plant are even longer. If this is not the case, then I expect this to be addressed during this meeting. I believe that Poland cannot afford any more lost months — stated President Karol Nawrocki during the Cabinet Council meeting.

09:32

Nawrocki 'Very Concerned,' Queries Government on Budget Data

"I must admit, Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Minister, that I am very concerned by what I see in this year's budget data. This is my question to the Prime Minister, the Minister, to all of you: are these figures, which we are discussing today, and around which public opinion revolves, those that you can consider objective?" – stated President Karol Nawrocki during a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

09:35

Nawrocki on the 150 Billion Deficit:

For Me, As President, This is a Clear Warning Signal.

"When one reads and when we know that we have a 150 billion deficit, for me, as the President of Poland, this is a clear warning signal that something is wrong," stated President Karol Nawrocki during a Cabinet Council meeting.

09:44

PM Tusk to Nawrocki: The Cabinet Council is Not a Substitute for Government or Parliament

We will be at the President's disposal, as the Constitution states, for informational purposes, but the Cabinet Council is not a substitute for the government or parliament, and it is certainly not a discussion club. Rather, these are deliberations of the Council of Ministers chaired by the President on matters of particular importance – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the Cabinet Council meeting.

09:44

Tusk to Nawrocki: 'I Will Scrupulously Uphold the Constitutional Framework in Our Cooperation'

Because here, as Poles, as an entire nation, we very often felt that there were problems with adhering to and correctly interpreting the Constitution, therefore I wish to assure Mr. President that I will scrupulously uphold the constitutional framework in our cooperation with the utmost goodwill – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

09:46

Tusk:

With the Best Will, We Will Cooperate with the President Wherever the Constitution Dictates

With the best will, we will cooperate with the President wherever the Constitution dictates, and I personally, not only because, as the President noted, we both finished the same university, we are from our beloved city, so I hope that this will also help in finding common ground, at least on some issues – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

09:51

‘We Have Reason for Satisfaction.’ Tusk on Public Finances and the State of the Economy

Regarding public finances – and generally the state of public finances, the budget, and more broadly, the economy – we have reason for satisfaction as a country, and certainly as a government and Minister Domański, who is personally responsible for this, that the effectiveness of our actions is yielding results that are tangible for people. These are results particularly in categories that directly affect people's lives – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

09:51

Leaving Behind the Ghastly PiS-Era Cost of Living. Tusk Forecasts Falling Inflation

You mentioned electoral commitments. Regarding the most important electoral commitment, which is moving away from that ghastly PiS-era cost of living crisis that for years devastated the wallets of Polish families – today we boast one of the lowest inflation rates. It currently stands at 3%, and we have reasons to remain optimistic that inflation will continue to fall – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

09:55

Tusk:

We Inherited an Economy Close to Stagnation. We've Governed for Under 2 Years and Now Have the Highest Economic Growth in Europe

– We inherited an economic situation – and this automatically impacts the state of the budget, the deficit, and the debt – an economy that was close, perhaps not to recession, but to stagnation. That was 0.4% growth. We've been governing for less than two years and we now have the highest economic growth in Europe, at 3.4%. We also have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the European Union – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

09:59

"We Act, We Don't Just Talk."Tusk: 'I Wish I Could Speak About CPK Like Horała.'

"I'm using a certain slogan, Mr. President, and I dedicate it to everyone gathered here: We act, we don't just talk. And I can, with full conviction, once again pay a compliment: you are – and I'm speaking about the group gathered here – not only likeable, but also effective in shaping certain perceptions, and sometimes even myths. I'm looking at Minister Horała. For me, he is a personal symbol of this situation. I wish I could speak about CPK like Minister Horała. But we don't just talk, we act," said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a Cabinet Council meeting.

10:05

Tusk to Nawrocki: 'You're Capping High-Speed Rail Ambitions at 250 km/h. Our Project Delivers 350 km/h.'

– Mr. President, I'd like you to pay attention to one piece of information contained within the project you signed, concerning the CPK. I don't know why, I don't know who convinced you of this, and I wouldn't want to guess. But you are limiting the ambition for high-speed rail to 250 km/h – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a session of the Cabinet Council.

– In our project – and we are implementing this project, not just talking about it – the operational speed is 350 km/h, which in practice means the fastest railways in Europe, – he pointed out.

10:08

Tusk to Nawrocki: 'The Diligence Here Can Be a Headache Elsewhere'

Yes, everyone in this building is known for their diligence. And this is not malice, no, no. Truly, it's a compliment. As you know, the diligence in this building sometimes becomes a headache in other buildings, so I say this with full conviction – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a Cabinet Council meeting.

10:10

Tusk:

CPK Project Has Started and Will Be Ready Sooner Than We Currently Expect

– The CPK project has started. Perhaps we haven't given enough presentations, but the investment is underway and will be completed sooner than we currently anticipate. In the coming days and weeks, not only will further decisions be made, but also actions will be taken, and these, I trust, will also be noticed by Mr. President and your advisors – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

10:14

Tusk Announces Plan to Bypass Veto:

Wind Farms Will Be Built.

I have good news for the people of Poland and bad news for the President. We will nonetheless increase, and radically so, the power generated by onshore wind farms. Not because we are fans of wind turbines, but because at this moment, it is the cheapest and quickest source of electricity to implement – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a Cabinet Council meeting.

Wind farms will be built, and we have already found ways to intensify our efforts through a regulation. Therefore, the veto might not be very effective here – he continued.

10:20

Tusk:

On the Brink – Guarding Against Excessive Deficit Risk

– This is a major task for the Minister of Finance – we are on the brink and we are carefully guarding this limit to avoid taking on excessive risk when it comes to debt and deficit. And at the same time, we have record growth, record-low inflation, and record-low unemployment – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting of the Cabinet Council.

12:35

Bogucki After Cabinet Council: 'Presidential Chancellery Awaits Written Responses'

Regarding the three main points on today's Cabinet Council agenda, in order: firstly, concerning issues of finance and budget, on this, in short, the president and the government remain at odds. Therefore, the president will resolutely demand written answers. This was, moreover, articulated: we will be awaiting written responses here at the Presidential Chancellery – stated Zbigniew Bogucki at a press conference.

"The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse." Bogucki After Cabinet Council: "The Budget Has Never Been Worse."

– We are, one might say, dealing with a sort of quadriga of Minister Domański – and thus also of this government, and of the Prime Minister – concerning public finances and the deficit. One could say these are the four horsemen of the Apocalypse – stated Zbigniew Bogucki at a press conference after the Cabinet Council meeting.

On one hand, we know that for the current budget, one-third of expenditure funds come from loans. This means we are facing very significant indebtedness. The second issue is that the deficit accounts for nearly 50% of revenues – the Head of the President's Chancellery continued.

– The next, extremely important point: nearly 50 billion zlotys less in revenue this year than in the previous year, despite the fact that we still – fortunately – have economic growth. And with economic growth, state budget revenues should also be higher – he argued.

– The fourth point [...], it was very often misrepresented when it was said that previous budgets were burdened with a large scale of expenditures not directly included in the budget itself. If we look at the annexes to this budget, meaning off-budget expenditures or funds, then – remarkably – it's over 182 billion zlotys – he stated.

As he assessed: – In all four of these points, we are witnessing a kind of "historic" achievement. It has never been this bad when it comes to the budget, and in this regard, the President will further question the Minister of Finance.

13:09

Bogucki:

President Will Not Permit Veto Circumvention Through Ordinances

– The Prime Minister saw fit to state in this public part [of the meeting] that he would also oversee the observance of the Constitution. If so, if these are true words and a genuine declaration, then I cannot imagine, and the President will not permit, a situation in which the presidential veto – which can, of course, be overridden by a qualified majority of votes in the Polish parliament, in accordance with the Basic Law – would be circumvented through various types of executive acts, Zbigniew Bogucki said at a press conference after the meeting of the Cabinet Council.

Such decisions are unconstitutional in nature and align with what the Prime Minister previously announced under the banner of "fighting democracy," or as the President calls it, "growling democracy." This is an attempt to circumvent the constitution, [...] an attempt to pervert the Polish political system, he stated.

13:21

Tusk after the Cabinet Council:

Together with President Nawrocki, we are seeking common ground for action.

I am very pleased with its proceedings, because from the very beginning, regardless of all political differences – which are visible to the naked eye between me and President Nawrocki and his political camp – we are seeking common ground for action together with President Nawrocki. These primarily concern security, international policy, and strategic Polish interests, and I reiterated today the conviction that wherever we manage to build this common space and cooperation for the good of Poland, we should treat it as something invaluable in Polish politics – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

We will not eliminate these differences. I know why I am ready for a tough confrontation over important issues for Poland, from my point of view, with any adversary – external or a political opponent here in Poland. But with the President of the Republic of Poland, we must and will continue to seek common ground, and today's Cabinet Council was another such attempt, and in my opinion, quite successful – he continued.

13:23

Tusk:

Pleased to Directly, Even On Camera, Correct the President's Error

I am also pleased that there was an opportunity to directly, even in front of cameras, correct the President's error, because it is also my role – especially since the President is new to this role – and thus he deserves competent information about the state of Polish affairs. I am glad that I could provide information, even in such detail, and rectify certain inaccuracies that appeared in the statements of the President's ministers or associates – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:26

Tusk on CPK:

Information emerged that it might favor foreign contractors. It’s exactly the opposite.

Information has emerged that this might favor foreign contractors. It’s exactly the opposite. I know which foreign contractor is interested in having the 250 km/h limit guaranteed, but we are much more ambitious. We will ensure that Polish companies participate in this and that Polish railways are the best and fastest in Europe, and so it will be – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:32

Tusk on Wind Turbines: 'We've prepared the regulation already'

There is a presidential veto; we have already prepared a regulation, and without a new law, regardless of the presidential veto, we will increase the capacity of onshore wind turbines. This will primarily be through so-called repowering, meaning in existing locations, we will replace the wind turbines with much more efficient turbines. Where radically simplified environmental regulations allow, taller towers will be installed, so electricity will flow from wind turbines one way or another – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:33

Tusk:

We've Agreed on Systematic Contact with the President

International cooperation will be a top priority, one way or another. We have agreed with the President on systematic contact, including more discreet, face-to-face meetings, and we will coordinate international policy with the best intentions – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:36

Tusk:

I Cannot Rule by Decrees. I Might Wish To Sometimes, But Obviously Not.

Of course, I will not rule by decrees. I can't, I might wish to sometimes, but obviously not. Where a law is needed, we will submit these draft laws regardless, but because the President – and these are quite clear initial signals – is rather inclined to veto, we are simultaneously looking for, as in the case of wind farms, methods that do not require legislative changes – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:39

Tusk:

MFA Issued Guidelines for Nawrocki's Washington Visit

We prepared it; Vice-Prime Minister Sikorski and the MFA prepared the guidelines for President Nawrocki's trip to Washington, and we conveyed these guidelines. We also agreed with President Nawrocki that we will certainly find more time for each other and meet again before his departure for the USA to settle any potential details, – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:44

"Everything Will Be Clear and Transparent": Tusk on the 2026 Budget

On Thursday at 2 PM, if I remember correctly, that is, tomorrow, we will adopt the draft budget [for 2026], and everything will be laid bare, everything will be clear and transparent. Since work is still ongoing at the moment, I don't want to get ahead of the final outcome of this matter – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:44

Says Tusk on Constitutional Provisions:

I See Rather Good Will From That Side,

It will probably still take some time for the Chancellery of the President to get its bearings, to fully understand the rules of this game and what the consequences of constitutional provisions are. I will patiently explain and inform how such cooperation should look, and I must say that I see rather good will from that side. Rather good will on this matter – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

15:35

"Around 200 Billion PLN": Kosiniak-Kamysz on 2026 Security Spending

– A dramatic increase in security spending. This year's budget is twice as large as the 2022 budget. Next year, it will be three times more than in 2022 – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference.

– That's around 200 billion next year. It's incredible how we managed this in just over a dozen months; I'd like to thank Minister Domański here, but above all, I thank our taxpayers, [...] thanks to whom we can build a great and strong army – he continued.

15:46

Sikorski:

Poland to Vote Against Mercosur Agreement

Poland will vote against the adoption of this agreement [Mercosur] in the European Council. We do not yet know when this vote will take place – Radosław Sikorski stated at a press conference at the Prime Minister's Chancellery.

15:52

Ziobro and Warchoł Announce Criminal Complaint Against Żurek

The subject of today's conference is the filing of a criminal complaint against the Minister of Justice, Waldemar Żurek, who dismissed 47 presidents and vice-presidents of courts without following the proper procedure. This procedure requires the participation of judicial councils. Meanwhile, Minister Żurek, violating these legal provisions in force in our country, is dismissing presidents and vice-presidents according to his own political whim. No one can be punished for adhering to the binding law. Judges and presidents assume and have assumed their positions in the judiciary based on the law – stated Marcin Warchoł at a PiS press conference.

Let me remind you, Article 187, paragraph 4 of the Constitution states that the manner of appointing judges to the National Council of the Judiciary, its mode of operation, scope, and structure are defined by law. And it was on the basis and within the limits of this law that appointments to these positions of court presidents were made. It was also on the basis of this law that judges were elected to the National Council of the Judiciary by parliament, which reflects the will of the nation as the sovereign, because supreme power belongs to the nation, not to judges – he continued.

And what is Minister Żurek doing? He comes out and says that the state will pay compensation, and then seek recourse from them. Well, this is an unimaginable scandal, ladies and gentlemen. The state will pay compensation to those presidents who were recently dismissed by Minister Żurek. Why? Because if the state established certain rules of conduct, and they accepted these positions in trust of those rules, and today they are being deprived of these positions by the very same state, merely because the political power has changed, well, then these are, ladies and gentlemen, dishonest methods of play – concluded Warchoł.

15:53

Ziobro:

'The Ruling Clique Is an Organized Criminal Group' — Accusations Against Żurek and Tusk

One of the elements guaranteeing the independence [of judges] is the appointment of court presidents for a fixed term, so that they are individuals who are not threatened with dismissal at the whim or political caprice of this or that minister. This ensures that judges ruling in courts led by such presidents – who possess this statutory element of independence from the executive power – have a sense of freedom and autonomy in their judgments, free from pressure from this or any other authority – stated Zbigniew Ziobro at a PiS press conference concerning the filing of a criminal complaint against Waldemar Żurek.

And it is precisely this guarantee of judicial independence, and indirectly judicial impartiality, that Minister Żurek flagrantly violated by unlawfully dismissing dozens of court presidents and vice-presidents – in other words, suspending them, or more accurately, leading to their removal from office. He did this, I emphasize, without legal basis, which in itself constitutes a crime. But the argumentation he used is also, one could say, another crime in itself, because one cannot punish anyone for adhering to the law in force in Poland, and that is a self-evident truth. And that was precisely the justification for Mr. Żurek's decision – he continued.

– So, in a word, as we announced, we are consistent. We are filing further criminal complaints, and the pile of complaints is growing, because we are dealing with an authority that regularly breaks the law, violates the legal order, and also commits crimes. We are dealing with a ruling clique, which is in fact an organized criminal group operating within the executive branch – concluded Ziobro.

15:54

Warchoł on Tusk:

His train has long left the station.

Of course, Cabinet meetings make sense, as evidenced by today’s Cabinet meeting, that’s first and foremost. And secondly, this cooperation is possible. Furthermore, the President himself clearly stated this today. However, the condition for this cooperation is the fulfillment of election promises, as rightly emphasized by President Karol Nawrocki. Yet, these election promises are not being kept – stated Marcin Warchoł at a PiS press conference, when asked about today’s Cabinet meeting.

Donald Tusk has already lost touch with the public. His train has long left the station, colloquially speaking. And what he’s saying today at this Cabinet meeting is simply mind-boggling. And the President indeed, on behalf of Poles and in the name of keeping election promises, drew attention to very important issues. Precisely such as Mercosur, and the fulfillment of election promises – very significant matters. Poles had appealed to the President during the election campaign to be their voice, including those who voted for Donald Tusk but are now disappointed – he continued.

15:55

Domański:

In Our First Year in Government, We Reduced the VAT Gap from Over 13% to Below 7%

– When we talk about public finances, we are, of course, talking about numbers, and I think the numbers here are absolutely unambiguous. Budget revenues are growing at a double-digit rate. In particular, VAT revenues in 2024 increased by 18% compared to 2023. That's 43 billion zlotys more. In the first 7 months of 2025, VAT revenues went up by almost 11%, which means another 18 billion zlotys – said Andrzej Domański at a press conference.

– Why is this happening? Our economy is clearly accelerating. We inherited a stagnant economy, with almost zero economic growth. Currently, Poland is among the fastest-growing economies in Europe – he continued.

– Looking at public finances, we must also consider their efficiency – the efficiency of tax collection. Already in the first year of our government, we reduced the VAT gap from over 13% to below 7%. This shows that our tax administration is operating efficiently – he pointed out.

15:56

"A Venue for Systematizing Our Cooperation Mechanisms": President Tweets After Cabinet Council

“I hope that in the next five years, Cabinet Councils will be not only a forum for exchanging ideas, but also a venue for systematizing the mechanisms of our cooperation – with Polish men and women in mind, and for resolving matters important for our Homeland,” wrote President Karol Nawrocki on social media.

15:58

Domański on the Deficit: "It Includes PLN 35 Billion in Debts Incurred Off-Budget by PiS"

– "Looking at the budget deficit after the first 7 months of this year, we must remember that this deficit includes PLN 35 billion in debts that PiS, our predecessors, incurred off-budget. We decided, while fixing state finances, that this debt [...] would be paid from the budget. PLN 35 billion," said Andrzej Domański at a press conference.

16:33

"Perhaps Today We Need to Restate This Truth." Tusk: Europe Will Be Stronger with Moldova

I will reiterate, because it’s never enough to recall certain, perhaps seemingly obvious, points – but in an era when truth is not so prevalent in politics, when lies, cynicism, and fake news so often prevail, perhaps today we need to restate this truth – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Moldova.

EU enlargement to include Moldova, as well as other aspiring countries seeking membership and undergoing the accession process, is obviously in the interest of these nations, Moldova – I am deeply convinced of this – but it is equally in the interest of all of Europe – he continued.

In this common endeavour, no one is doing anyone a favour or a courtesy. A secure, prosperous, and stable Moldova as part of the EU is in the most vital interest of the EU as a whole. The peace, prosperity, and security of the EU and its member states are linked to the peace, prosperity, and security of Moldova. Europe will be stronger with Moldova – the head of government underscored.

Tusk:

No Safe EU, Poland, France, or Germany Without an Independent and Safe Moldova

There is no safe EU, Poland, France, or safe Germany without an independent and safe Moldova. Poland embarked on this path of integration and independence earlier; we have over 30 years of transformation behind us in the context of EU membership. For us Poles, the path to Europe was also not easy – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Moldova.

Sikorski on Government’s Stance for President’s Washington Visit: 'Clear Guidance on What to Say and What Not to Say'

– The President is the head of state and the highest representative of Poland, and therefore represents the foreign policy adopted and conducted by the government. In this spirit, the Council of Ministers adopted its position regarding the President's upcoming visit to the United States, which provides clear guidance on what to say and what not to say – said Radosław Sikorski at a press conference.

Sikorski:

Our Nationalists Have Special Ties with MAGA. We Hope for Results for Poland, Not Just Photo Opportunities.

– I am at the President's disposal regarding my discussions with the American side, so that he has the latest information, and I wish the President good luck – said Radosław Sikorski at a press conference.

– Our nationalists have established special ideological ties with the American MAGA movement, American nationalists. We hope that this will be effective not only in political support, but also in getting things done for Poland. We hope there will be mutual benefit, not just photo opportunities, but also decisions regarding resolutions: whether commercial ones concerning Europe, or regarding potential peace conditions in Ukraine, or economic and military relations with our most important ally – he continued.

Another Presidential Veto

President Karol Nawrocki refused to sign the Act of August 5, 2025, amending the Act on crude oil, petroleum product, and natural gas reserves, and the rules of conduct in situations threatening the state's fuel security and disruptions in the oil market, as well as certain other acts – announced the Chancellery of the President.

Kosiniak-Kamysz on Presidential Vetoes:

Adopting a Strategy That Destroyed the First Polish Republic and Led to Its Downfall.

"These [the president's vetoes] represent the adoption of that strategy which destroyed the First Polish Republic, led to its downfall, and to the partitions. The Liberum Veto – the abuse of the 'I freely forbid' principle back then – meant that the May 3rd Constitution reacted too late. Every nobleman in the Sejm could halt resolutions being passed, and this led to paralysis. [...] Going down this path is following the worst traditions," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events) on Polsat News.

"It Was a Spectacle': Żurek on the Cabinet Council Meeting

In my opinion, it was a spectacle. It was calculated to show how active the president is, how he will seize the reins of Polish politics and immediately want to steer this ship – stated Waldemar Żurek on “Pytanie dnia” (Question of the Day) on TVP INFO, when asked about the Cabinet Council meeting.

In my opinion, he will not steer, but it also became clear from all these statements that the president, however, has incorrect information; that is, his associates at all costs want to prove they possess secret knowledge, knowledge different from what the ministers in the government have, and this was very effectively debunked by those ministers who spoke – Waldemar Żurek continued.

What stuck in my mind, which I can share with you, is that so many billions are missing from the budget, to which the Minister of Finance says: “Hold on, we lowered inflation. During the PiS government, it was at 18%, then it dropped to 8%, and we lowered it to 3%. This money remained in Poles' wallets, but for every percentage point of lowered inflation, as specialists calculated, 12 billion less flows into the budget, so these funds need to be found” – said the Minister of Justice.

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Current Head of Pilecki Institute Must Go, 'Things Are Going Badly There'

– I expressed my opinion to Minister [Marta Cienkowska] that the current head of the Pilecki Institute [Prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz] should be dismissed. This is my opinion, and it is the stance of my political party. Minister Cienkowska is responsible for this. I believe things are going badly there – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Polsat News' “Gość Wydarzeń.”

– I am very critical of what is happening; it looks very bad – he added.

Żurek:

'He Is Not the "Sun King" and We Don't Have a Presidential System' – Defining the President's Role within Constitutional Competencies

"Yes, it's likely Ms. Dagmara Pawełczyk-Woicka and her entourage trying to implement something like this [blacklists of judges whom the president will not nominate or promote for political reasons]. Probably after that presidential address in the Sejm, because we saw that the president will be saying who, in his opinion, respects the constitution and who doesn't. It's as if he's reversed roles; he doesn't understand that the role of a notary is very important, but it's the *legal* National Council of the Judiciary (KRS) that is supposed to conduct [judicial nominations]," – stated Waldemar Żurek on "Pytanie dnia" (Question of the Day) on TVP INFO.

"I believe we should not succumb to blackmail, because if it turns out that the president, through his associates, searches online for what verdict a judge issued, or whether they attended a certain march, or signed a certain list, and that will decide whether they become a judge or not, instead of their competencies and a competition publicized and conducted by a legal body – well, then the president has misunderstood his role. He is not the 'Sun King' and we don't have a presidential system, but a parliamentary-cabinet system," – he continued.

US Could Even Boost Military Presence in Poland – It's a Possibility

"I am convinced that they might even increase their presence. Such a possibility exists because Poland approaches the presence of American troops differently than our Western neighbors," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń," when asked if he was certain that the Americans would not withdraw a single soldier from Poland as part of plans to reduce military presence in Europe.

"We appreciate the presence of American troops and we also invest our own money into it. There are approximately 10,000 American soldiers in Poland, give or take. This is the third-highest figure in Europe. [...] Poland allocates 15,000 dollars for each American soldier," he noted.

"I Have a Plan": Żurek on His Strategy for the NCJ

I have a plan for this. Those who walk out, knowing what the judicial precedent is, generate damages. We have something like this: unlawfulness (because we have a ruling), you are not a court, you walk out – you act unlawfully. We have damages because Poland has paid, and we have an adequate causal link, as we, civil law practitioners, say. That is, your action and the damage. There is something here that we can connect, link; compensation is directly tied to your walking out of the courtroom. Why should we pay for this when you know you are generating damages? We will see how they defend themselves in civil courts. And I will start with those for whose pseudo-rulings we have already paid damages – claimed Waldemar Żurek in "Pytanie dnia" on TVP INFO.

But only one? He should file them daily. I heard this: Mr. Przydacz said I would get 20 years – he's probably in the Presidential Chancellery. Zbigniew Ziobro first gave me an ultimatum that if I didn't reinstate Mr. Barski to work by a certain day and hour, he would show me. Now he's filing a report. I'll put it this way: every Polish citizen who has Polish citizenship, has full public rights, can file a report – against you, against former judge Żurek, against minister Żurek. So I tell the minister, Mr. Minister, please write. I will probably take you as a witness for how you dismissed various judges in courts and how the Internal Affairs Department operated... – Waldemar Żurek continued.

Let the prosecutor's office act; Minister Ziobro is a free man. It would be good if he familiarized himself with certain matters that are within his purview, because it seems to me that he should finally stand before a court for how he destroyed Polish rule of law and how he also tried to destroy specific people – Żurek concluded.

20:49

Żurek on the dismissals of Deputy Prosecutors General:

I have an idea for this, compliant with the law and our constitution.

I truly want us to hammer into our heads today that we must make the prosecution service so independent from politicians that it is prosecutors [who lead], but I must be sure that they are free from the pressure of Ziobro's people in the highest chairs of the prosecutor's office – stated Waldemar Żurek on “Pytanie dnia” (Question of the Day) on TVP INFO.

Why? You said I couldn't [dismiss the Deputy Prosecutors General]. I have an idea for this, compliant with the law and our constitution. And I believe it will be implemented. As I said, by my fruits you will know me. On the first day it comes into being, I promise I will grant you an interview. This is a legal process; it's not that simple. However, I initiated these actions from the first day I assumed this function; I had certain ideas in my head, I had discussed them with truly wise lawyers, much wiser than myself, so I hope they will continue to provide me with this support – he continued.

Tusk on Niedzielski Attackers:

No Mercy.

The perpetrators of the assault on former Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski will soon be caught and will go to jail. No mercy – wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on social media.

Żurek on Actions Towards the KRS and His Role in Restoring the Rule of Law:

I Can Promise Citizens One Thing – I Will Fight Tooth and Nail.

I will apply these methods gradually, because I must also be aware that for certain difficult decisions, I will need the consent of all coalition partners. And we already have a team that is working, meeting, discussing what we plan regarding the rule of law, what steps will be taken – stated Waldemar Żurek on "Pytanie dnia" on TVP INFO, when asked about steps concerning the KRS.

As I said, if such a decision is made, I have the legal justification, and I now also have a meeting planned with all MPs and senators from the coalition who are members of the KRS; they constitute a legal part of this council. We are already discussing this very intensely, but my time in office is short. The decisions I have been making are very quick. I am familiarizing myself with many things, and many more decisions are already planned, but these are two enormous tasks, and I still need the consensus of all coalition partners, as I said, for it to succeed. However, if someone says – I do not agree to this – then they will later bear responsibility for the lack of a decision – he continued.

I prefer to be effective, that is to say. I have my methods, I have my plans, and they are constantly being implemented, but it really is a very short period, you must give me some time. However, I can promise citizens one thing – I will fight tooth and nail – concluded Waldemar Żurek.
