Regardless of the Outcome, the Coalition Will Be a United Front in This Election. Tusk on Primaries

- Voting is imminent! Regardless of its outcome, the Coalition will be a united front in this election. I thank Rafał and Radek for taking on the challenge and declaring their full cooperation for our shared victory. We are proud of you, gentlemen! - wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the X portal.

08:35

Trzaskowski:

I am Ready for Any PiS Counter-Candidate. I Calmly Await Kaczyński's Sole Decision
- I am ready for any counter-candidate from PiS, each of them takes full responsibility for destroying the state, and therefore I calmly await the moment when Jarosław Kaczyński finally makes the decision unilaterally - said Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Renata Grochal on "Bez uników" (No Evasion) on Trójka. - This is precisely the difference. We have entrusted ourselves to 25,000 colleagues [...] whereas in PiS, one person, completely detached from reality, will decide - he continued.

08:37

Trzaskowski:

For Kaczyński, it's not about who has the best chance, but who he can control
- For Jarosław Kaczyński, it's not really about who has the best chance, but rather who he can control, because that is Jarosław Kaczyński's only obsession - said Rafał Trzaskowski on Trójka.

08:39

Berek on Changes to Health Contributions:

It Won’t Mean a Reduction in the National Health Fund’s Revenue.

- This change [in health contributions] will not mean a reduction in the National Health Fund’s revenue. The total amount of funds that the National Health Fund will receive will be no less than what it has received up to now – stated Maciej Berek on PR1’s “Sygnały dnia” (Signals of the Day).

08:45

Trzaskowski:

PiS Threw Me Against the Walls, I'm Tough and Have Thick Skin
- If Radosław Sikorski says our candidate should be strong, I agree with him. [...] I've been thrown against the walls by PiS over the past years, I've participated in three of the most difficult campaigns [...] I have a backbone, I am very tough, and I have very thick skin - Rafał Trzaskowski said on Trójka. - The fact that I know how to bite my tongue, that I am composed, and that I don't believe one should react to every provocation, I consider this to be a sign of strength, not weakness, so I agree with Radosław Sikorski - he continued.

08:49

Trzaskowski:

You don't need to be defense minister for a moment to know defense or foreign policy
- I've been involved in foreign policy for 25 years, the European Union, I started with the emerging common foreign and security policy of the European Union, so I also have very extensive experience in this area. You don't need to be defense minister for a moment to know defense or foreign policy - said Rafał Trzaskowski on Trójka. - I believe that today Poland needs a president who will prevent bad scenarios, not one who talks about how he would behave if a bad scenario occurs - he continued.

08:53

Trzaskowski:

I'm a Specialist in Difficult, Crisis, and Security Situations
- I have specialized in dealing with crisis situations. Over the past few years, I've dealt with the pandemic, I managed and am managing 10 hospitals, while everyone was isolating, because they had to, I was on the front line. I managed a large city at a time when war broke out beyond our eastern border - said Rafał Trzaskowski on Trójka. - I am truly a specialist in difficult, crisis, and security situations - he continued.

08:54

Berek:

Government Will Not Suspend Operations During Presidential Campaign

- The government will not suspend its activities for the duration of the presidential campaign; we will continue to perform our duties as usual. Secondly, the minister has been assigned specific tasks with the consultation of this project. Once this project [concerning hospitals] is ready after these consultations, we will proceed further - stated Maciej Berek on "Sygnały dnia" PR1.

09:04

Trzaskowski:

I will submit legislative initiatives where the government fails to react
- It is also important that Radosław Sikorski constantly talks about foreign policy, and doesn't talk about experience in all these matters concerning domestic policy, which are incredibly important - said Rafał Trzaskowski in Trójka. - I manage essentially a small state, I know about both education and healthcare [...]. I will submit legislative initiatives where they are needed, where the government fails to react, and this happens because the government simply has so many problems to solve today that a president with such a strategic vision will be useful - he continued.

09:12

Czarnek Suggests a Possible Name:

I Will Definitely Not Be Campaign Manager.

- But if it happens, I will be happy because we will finally be able to campaign with our candidate. If it is Karol Nawrocki – yes, he will win the presidential election – stated Przemysław Czarnek in a conversation with Łukasz A. Jankowski on Radio Wnet.

- 100% no, ladies and gentlemen. This is yet another piece of information that is not only unverified but certainly false. I will definitely not be the campaign manager; that is completely obvious – he continued.

- Someone like Adam Bielan, or others who know how to run an election campaign, could be the campaign manager. I don't know how to do that – added the PiS politician.

09:19

Czarnek:

Perhaps a candidate not associated with politics at all, but certainly with the right, would be good

- This means that a tactic has been adopted for the election campaign, that it will be better to travel around Warsaw and throughout Poland with a candidate who has no political label and who also doesn't have, and President Jarosław Kaczyński has spoken about this many times, pointing to the candidate's characteristics, that it is a candidate or will be a candidate, if it is him, unburdened by 8 years of governance - stated Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Wnet.

- In the sense that with other candidates like myself, one can always point to some unpopular decisions, because unpopular or even incorrect decisions are always made. There were also incorrect decisions - he continued.

- However, PiS formed three governments during eight years, which we will certainly boast about in this campaign, because we will compare these three governments and the eight-year period of PiS governance with the period of Donald Tusk's government and the coalition of December 13th, which has so far been a mere ten months, but soon it will be over a year, in May next year, a terribly unsuccessful government - Czarnek emphasized.

As he said: - In this sense, we will showcase PiS, but there is also this tactic, and it has been discussed, perhaps a candidate who is not associated with politics at all, but certainly with the right, would be good.

09:20

Czarnek:

If Morawiecki Were Nominated, It Would Mean We're Headed Straight for Defeat in the Presidential Election

- But of course. I repeat once more. I will be the face of the campaign… I will help every candidate. Every candidate designated by PiS - stated Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Wnet.

- But Mateusz Morawiecki will not be designated because Mateusz Morawiecki, if he were designated, it would mean we are headed straight for defeat in the presidential election. This is because the entire right-wing electorate will not support Mateusz Morawiecki, because Konfederacja and its voters will not support him - he continued.

09:42

Hennig-Kloska:

A Trzaskowski–Hołownia Run-off is Highly Probable

- The campaign has its own dynamics and temperature, and it can also promote candidates who are not necessarily obvious. We have polls where Szymon Hołownia can achieve 21%, there was such a poll conducted by Civic Coalition (KO). From 21% to 30% is actually very close. I believe that a Rafał Trzaskowski–Szymon Hołownia run-off is highly probable – stated Paulina Hennig-Kloska on Radio Zet.

09:46

Hennig-Kloska Announces Subsidies for Electric Car Purchases Starting Next Year

- We are waiting for the launch of the latest tranche of funds, then it takes some time to launch the programs. Therefore, such subsidies will appear next year, from the KPO. In 2025, such a program [for subsidies for the purchase of electric cars] will appear. We must utilize the KPO funds, also implementing reforms by mid-2026 – said Paulina Hennig-Kloska in Radio Zet.

- It's probably not yet a mass means of transport and won't be in Poland yet; this technology certainly needs to become cheaper to be more accessible to the average citizen, but let's recall what this program replaced – the Buda tax. Because previously our predecessors proposed a tax on combustion engine cars, and we replaced the tax on combustion engine cars in the KPO reform program with subsidies for electric vehicles – she added.

09:54

Hennig-Kloska on energy prices:

Prices are frozen for 9 months to decide mid-year if they are still needed.

- First and foremost, I am very pleased that from January 1st the [energy] prices will not change. This is a very socially important aspect and also a great societal expectation for the adoption of this act – stated Paulina Hennig-Kloska on Radio Zet.

- As the minister responsible for the energy sector, I have always repeated that we must gradually move away from support, especially for households, but by lowering energy prices on the wholesale market, and this is happening – she continued.

- Prices are frozen for 9 months, in order to conduct a review of tariffs mid-year and decide whether further intervention from the state budget is needed – she added.

Sejm Debates "Envelope Elections": Filiks Claims Porozumienie Politicians Halted Postal Voting
- During the commission's work, not only were all the accusations formulated by the Supreme Audit Office confirmed [...] but also additional threads were revealed, which unequivocally indicate that the United Right camp intended at all costs to conduct the presidential elections in a way that could have limited, or even deprived, several million citizens of their right to vote - said Magdalena Filiks, presenting the investigative committee's report on "envelope elections" in the Sejm. - The rhetoric presented by those in power at the time, suggesting that the elections on May 10th did not take place due to the opposition, particularly the then Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, was repeatedly undermined during the commission's work. [...] The commission established that it was the internal opposition within the then ruling coalition, in the form of some politicians from Jarosław Gowin's Porozumienie party, that halted the postal elections at that time - she continued. - The real reasons why the postal elections fortunately did not take place were legislative and organizational unpreparedness, and finally, a lack of agreement within the ruling camp itself at the time - she went on to say. - In the commission's assessment, the way the Sejm proceeded with the bill on special rules for conducting elections, which was led by Sejm Speaker Elżbieta Witek, deserves particular critical evaluation. According to expert opinions obtained during the commission's work, Sejm Speaker Elżbieta Witek bears responsibility for violating the Sejm's regulations - she added.

10:05

Filiks:

The Actual and Political Decision to Hold Mail-In Elections Was Made by President Kaczyński
- The commission has established that the actual and political decision to hold the presidential elections via mail-in ballots was made by the leader of the Law and Justice party, Jarosław Kaczyński. Jarosław Kaczyński, as a member of the ruling party, without possessing any competencies granted by the Constitution of the Republic of Poland to the Marshal of the Sejm or the Prime Minister, as a Member of Parliament, a public official, exceeded his authority, utilizing his position as the leader of Law and Justice in the process – said Magdalena Filiks, presenting the report of the investigative committee on envelope elections in the Sejm. - The sole motivation for Jarosław Kaczyński's actions was the desire to hold the elections at all costs and to maintain the presidency of Andrzej Duda at the appropriate moment. [...] It was within the framework of executing Jarosław Kaczyński's order that the Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, issued [...] two administrative decisions addressed to Poczta Polska and Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych [...] he instructed these companies to prepare and conduct the elections via mail-in ballots – she continued.

10:13

Filiks:

Commission's Findings Led to Reporting Potential Crimes by 10 Public Officials
- The findings have prompted the commission to forward notifications to the Prosecutor General regarding the possibility of criminal offenses committed by 10 public officials holding key state positions, namely the Marshal of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of the Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński, Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin, Minister of Digital Affairs Marek Zagórski, President of UODO Jan Nowak, Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Michał Dworczyk, MAP officials Artur Soboń and Tomasz Szczegielniak, and Member of Parliament Jarosław Kaczyński - said Magdalena Filiks, presenting the investigative committee's report on the postal ballot elections in the Sejm.

10:27

Tusk at the ZNP Congress:

I Must Begin with an Apology.

- Perhaps I will surprise you, but I must begin this meeting with the word "apology." I represent the Polish state here, which for many years has treated you, teachers, people of one of the most important professions in our homeland, in an unworthy manner. I remember a time when, in addition to all the daily worries and troubles that accompany you in your daily work, low earnings, and the prestige of your wonderful profession being questioned by some, an aggressive approach from the state authorities was also added - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the ZNP congress.

- I put a lot of effort into ensuring that this government changed, but I represent the state, and it is the Polish state that owes these words "we apologize" for what you experienced during the infamous strike. The authorities' reactions to your demands, your efforts – as a teacher by profession, I know how much it cost you at that time to decide to suspend classes - the head of government continued.

As Tusk said: - What you experienced then was an unforgivable mistake on the part of the authorities. Please accept these apologies in the best possible spirit; they come from the bottom of my heart.

10:31

Tusk:

The Events of the Last Few Dozen Hours Show That the Threat of Global Conflict is Truly Serious and Real
The war in the East is entering a decisive phase. We all know it. We feel that it is approaching, but the unknown is approaching. None of us knows the end of this conflict, but we know that it is currently taking on very dramatic dimensions. The events of the last few dozen hours show that this threat is truly serious and real when it comes to global conflict - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the ZNP congress. - This further emphasizes the importance of crucial, everyday actions, because there is no other place like school where we can prepare young people for resilience in the face of such historical events, and in the most diverse dimensions - he continued.

10:39

Tusk Announces Acceleration of Work on the Citizens' Initiative:

The Teaching Profession Cannot Be Paid Less Than the Average Wage.

- The teaching profession cannot be paid less than the average wage. For me, this is also obvious; it cannot be this way. I commit to accelerating work on the citizens' initiative. There will be no more delays. We will negotiate certain aspects of this project - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the ZNP congress.

10:45

Czarnek:

The Failure of Postal Elections is Solely the Senate's Fault
- It is absolutely clear that the May 10 elections, so-called envelope elections, were sabotaged, halted, thrown out, overturned by Ms. Kidawa-Błońska, who personally admitted to it. Why? Because she was scraping the bottom in the election polls - said Przemysław Czarnek in the Sejm during the debate on the report of the inquiry committee on envelope elections. - Two key witnesses, who directly stated that they were to blame for the elections not taking place, could not be summoned by the inquiry committee. Why? Because the inquiry committee was afraid to summon witnesses who were directly responsible for the elections not happening - he continued. - The fact that the postal elections on May 10 did not take place is solely the fault of the Senate, which we proved during this committee, which we also demonstrated in our dissenting opinion. The Senate deliberately delayed decision-making only to block the Polish state - he went on to say.

10:47

Tusk:

I Will Do Everything to Mend What Has Been Falling Apart Over the Years

- I will do everything to mend what has somehow been falling apart over these years, especially in the context of the drama unfolding around us. But in reality, we must begin the rebuilding of this national unity, this fundamental one, with empathy, sympathy, and respect right at the start of our journey, meaning in school, and I know that no one will do it better than you – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the ZNP congress.

11:12

Schetyna on Trzaskowski:

He’s the Favorite, But It Means Nothing. You Have to Fight to the End.
- He is the favorite [Rafał Trzaskowski], but it means nothing. It’s like in sports, politics is similar – you have to fight to the end, until the last minute – said Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus’s “The Core Issue.”

11:15

Schetyna on Who He's Voting for in the Primaries:

The Obvious Candidate.
- Yes [I am voting for Rafał Trzaskowski]. I believe he is the obvious candidate [...] and he was indeed very close. It's not easy to get over 10 million votes. He has that - Grzegorz Schetyna said on "Sedno Sprawy" on Radio Plus.

11:27

Schetyna:

There was no pressure to enforce decisions, meaning to directly deliver money to those who needed it
- As far as I hear and see, the lack of acceleration has been accounted for in a very harsh manner. Because this wasn't even, no one made a mistake here. There was no pressure to enforce these decisions, meaning to directly deliver money to people who needed it - said Grzegorz Schetyna on Radio Plus's "The Heart of the Matter." - The government transfers money, the Minister of Finance, through provincial offices. It reaches the municipalities and municipal officials, local government doesn't implement it. This does not absolve us of responsibility, [...] the voivode's officials must enforce these matters. That's why it started to happen, but an intervention from above was needed - he continued.

11:50

Tusk:

Tomorrow at Noon, Everything Will Be Clear

Tusk:

- Yes [I am calm about the primaries]. Yes [it matters to me] - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a conversation with journalists.

- No [the primaries did not lead to conflict], but to healthy competition. It's all lively, it has to vibrate - he continued.

- I am in favour, and today I am very calm. Difficult times, so it's hard to be calm, it's a very good school of democracy. I am very proud of both our candidates and I know that things will go well in terms of preparation. But then a very tough fight. Yes, tomorrow we will present the election results, which automatically means a candidate. So, tomorrow at noon, everything will be clear - emphasized the head of government.

13:06

Romanowski:

Yesterday the District Court for Warsaw-Mokotów ruled that my arrest was illegal

Yesterday the District Court for Warsaw-Mokotów announced a ruling issued after yesterday's hearing. A ruling that states the illegality of the prosecution's actions in the form of arresting an opposition MP, which is me, in July of this year. The court definitively stated that an action of an illegal nature occurred [illegal deprivation of liberty] – stated Marcin Romanowski at a press conference.

Illegal deprivation of liberty is a crime. A crime that should be prosecuted ex officio, therefore we must ask the question whether Adam Bodnar has already ordered the initiation of such an investigation, or whether Dariusz Korneluk has already ordered the initiation of such an investigation – he added.

13:06

Bogucki on Romanowski's Arrest:

A Disgrace for Bodnar's Allies and the Pato-Regime.
"This case of MP Marcin Romanowski, one could say, focuses like a lens and demonstrates the pathology of this government, its barbaric methods, because this case is such a disgrace for Bodnar's allies and the pato-regime in four acts," said Zbigniew Bogucki at a press conference. "In reality, not only parliamentary immunity, but basic, elementary human dignity has been trampled upon, because these are systemic barbarians and legal barbarians. They did this absolutely consciously; as one radio station reported, they knew about the immunity a month in advance, but they disregarded it. They commissioned two flawed opinions, which turned out to be worthless, and paid for these opinions with public money, solely to prove they had the right to conduct the proceedings," he continued.

14:46

A Motion Filed to Bring Ziobro Before the Committee:

The Marshal Has Given the Matter the Highest Priority.
- Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar handed over today to the Marshal of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, a motion for the Sejm to express consent for the arrest and compulsory bringing of MP Zbigniew Ziobro to a session of the parliamentary investigative committee on Pegasus – informed prosecutor Anna Adamiak, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General. As stated in the communication from the Chancellery of the Sejm, the motion has already been forwarded to the legal services of the Chancellery of the Sejm for urgent analysis. Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia has given the matter the highest priority.

16:41

Bodnar:

Poland No Longer Participates in Article 7 Procedure

- Poland no longer participates in the procedure stemming from Article 7 of the Treaty on European Union. Now, Poland is subject to ordinary, normal procedures under the EU treaties, which include, among others, reporting and reviewing reports on the rule of law in individual member states, as well as Poland is continuously subject to, and will be subject to, the jurisdiction of the Court of Justice of the European Union, which oversees compliance with EU law – stated Adam Bodnar at a press briefing.

16:44

Bodnar on Systemic Challenges Facing Poland:

The roles of Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Must Be Separated.
The Polish presidency is a very demanding period for the entire state, for the entire government, because during the presidency we must ensure that we implement policy within the Council of the European Union, including policy in the area of justice – said Adam Bodnar at a press briefing. I am grateful for the mention of the Venice Commission's opinion, because indeed, following two opinions from the Venice Commission, we have one challenge, namely that we must soon adopt legislation to separate the offices of the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General, in the form suggested by experts – he continued. And the second, greater challenge – preparing the act on the status of judges, the act on the Supreme Court, and considering precisely how to conduct this evaluation of judges, as suggested by the Venice Commission in its opinion – he went on to say.

16:46

Bodnar on Ziobro's Avoidance of Appearing Before the Committee:

We Cannot Have Citizens Not Subject to the Sejm's Authority.

- Since some individuals are not appearing before the committee, then the entire state apparatus must be engaged to bring about their appearance, because we cannot have citizens who are in such a situation and are not subject to the authority of the Sejm of the Republic. I hope the Sejm of the Republic will do what it is now obliged to do at this moment. The moment I submitted the motion to lift the immunity, the Sejm must now make a decision in this regard – stated Adam Bodnar at a press briefing.

16:55

Reynders on Korneluk as National Prosecutor:

He Was Appointed Transparently.

- I will meet this afternoon with the National Prosecutor, Mr. Korneluk, because he was appointed transparently, in a manner that was not challenged by any independent court, established in accordance with the law. We know what the doubts are concerning the composition of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Tribunal. Of course, we hope that the problem of the lack of independence of the National Council of the Judiciary, as well as the Constitutional Tribunal, will be resolved – stated Didier Reynders, the EU Commissioner for Justice, at a press briefing.

18:56

Hołownia:

A Divided Poland is an Invitation to Russia
You know very well that a divided Poland is an invitation to Russia, it's an invitation to our external enemies, because this has happened many times in history - stated Szymon Hołownia in Rypin.

19:01

Hołownia Sets Official Presidential Campaign Launch Date

- I have decided that I will call the presidential election in the Republic of Poland for the earliest possible date, I'm talking about the start of the election campaign. Today, I want to tell you that the campaign will begin in our country on January 8. The first date on which I could have called the election was January 6, which is a holiday - stated Szymon Hołownia in Rypin.

- On January 8, we say: the campaign begins, this process in which candidates will be able to compete and gather signatures - he continued.

19:37

Hołownia on a Free Christmas Eve from Next Year:

If They Don't Agree, I'll Convene a Session on Christmas Eve.

- I am determined that we will deal with this bill in such a way that we make a decision next Wednesday, because then we will continue the current Sejm session, and then we will somehow find space for this bill to be on the Sejm's agenda – stated Szymon Hołownia at a meeting with residents.

- If you ask me whether it will be possible to achieve this this year, so that Christmas Eve is a free day, I don't know, I cannot guarantee it, because it is very late. However, I think there is a very high probability that from next year, Christmas Eve will be a public holiday – he continued.

- I will also vote for it, of course, because I believe it makes sense. However, I will push the MPs to make this decision, and ultimately, if they try to go against my will, to obstruct. I also have tools that I can use; I will convene a session for them on Christmas Eve, the 24th, and then we will see how the issue of working on Christmas Eve will be, so to speak, considered at a moment when it directly concerns those who make the law. I am not joking, I will actually do it – he added.

19:49

Hołownia:

I Cannot Help But Appreciate Sikorski's Fighting Spirit in These Primaries
“If I look at these primaries, I cannot help but appreciate Radosław Sikorski; he is a fighter, a man who entered this battle truly seriously, he went in hard, and conducted a very concrete and combative campaign,” said Szymon Hołownia at a meeting with residents.

20:00

Hołownia on Tusk:

The Only One on the Stage Who Can Hold Such a Coalition Together.
I must give him [Donald Tusk] one thing. He is the one, perhaps the only one on the stage today, who can hold such a coalition together so it doesn’t veer left or right on every bump in the road. There will be bumps, and this cart will creak because each of us is completely different – stated Szymon Hołownia in Rypin.

20:29

A Favorite Has Emerged. The Final Decision on Sunday. Sasin on PiS's Presidential Candidate
- We are not making this decision until the very moment we announce the presidential candidate. We are in constant talks, and of course, a favorite has emerged [...] naturally, I cannot reveal the name - Jacek Sasin stated in an interview with Danuta Holecka on the TV Republika program "Gość Dzisiaj" (Guest Today). - I can say that I know who this favorite is, but the final decision will be made on Sunday, at the time when we will present this candidate - he continued.

20:34

Nowacka on Primaries: Just as we collectively backed Trzaskowski in 2020, the same will happen now
- I believe that just as we collectively in Civic Coalition in 2020 backed Rafał Trzaskowski, the same will happen now. Besides, it's visible in various polls conducted externally and also in our internal discussions - Barbara Nowacka said in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz on TVP Info's 'Question of the Day'. - Yesterday, parliamentarians also very clearly expressed their support for Rafał Trzaskowski, as did the structures. But most importantly, the members who remember the great work they put in in 2020 - she continued.

20:36

Sasin:

We'd like to create a candidate and president who isn't so deeply entangled in political disputes
- Today, we see on the other side what their vision of the presidency is [...] if it plays out between Trzaskowski and Sikorski, it means they want to elect a president who will be part of this war-mongering arrangement [...] who will actually be a party president, a president harnessed by Donald Tusk to engage in political slugfests - Jacek Sasin said on TV Republika. - However, we would like to try, perhaps it is idealistic, but to try to create such a candidate, and then, I hope, as a result of the elections, such a president, who will not be so deeply entangled in this political dispute - he continued. - Of course, he will have his sympathies, he will have his views [...] but it should be a person who will stand above all of this, who will be the real head of the Polish state and the president of every Pole - he went on to say.

20:45

Sasin:

I Wish Health to All Who Think This is a Real Primary Election. Tusk Wants Sikorski
- I think it's rather the latter [Rafał Trzaskowski was not Donald Tusk's favorite], in fact, I am convinced it is the latter. Moreover, frankly speaking, Radosław Sikorski himself confirmed these suspicions yesterday, and I must say that perhaps for the first time I can fully agree with Radosław Sikorski's words - said Jacek Sasin on TV Republika. - He said that if Donald Tusk wanted Rafał Trzaskowski as a presidential candidate, he would simply appoint him [...]. Since he doesn't want Rafał Trzaskowski, he ordered a primary election [...] I wish health to all who think this is a real primary election - he continued. - My experience and my gut tell me that it will be Sikorski after all. That Donald Tusk can manage these primary elections in such a way [...] so that the candidate he expects jumps out of the hat, and he clearly does not expect Trzaskowski - he went on. - These primary elections will be exactly like the law, meaning as Donald Tusk understands them, and the result will be what Donald Tusk defines, not what the members of Civic Platform choose. Tusk wants Sikorski because Sikorski is his buddy, Sikorski is loyal to him [...] this is supposed to be a man for every nod and every command of the Civic Platform leader - he added.

20:46

Nowacka Points to PiS’s Iron Electorate:

We Will Treat Every One of Their Candidates Very Seriously.
- We will approach every [PiS] candidate very seriously, because we feel that regardless of whether they are a known or unknown person, PiS has its iron electorate - said Barbara Nowacka in TVP Info's “Question of the Day”. - Whoever runs under the PiS banner, they have 25% from the start, whether they are completely unknown to a wider social group, like Mr. Nawrocki, or too well-known, like Przemysław Czarnek - she stated.

20:49

Sasin on Hołownia:

He Won't Fool Anyone in Poland. He's a Ruthless Participant in the Game Tusk is Playing.
- Independent of whom? He is part of the December 13th system [...] he agrees to the breaking of the law in Poland, truly with his comedian's smile and those rather unfunny jokes he tells from the Sejm Marshal's seat, he won't fool anyone in Poland. He is a ruthless participant in this game that Tusk is playing, he's no different from it - Jacek Sasin told TV Republika about Szymon Hołownia.

20:51

Nowacka on Nawrocki's Potential Candidacy:

They're Taking Someone Who Won't Destroy Their Party.
- Choosing Nawrocki shows that PiS completely doesn't believe in winning. They're taking someone who won't destroy their party and won't take it over from Kaczyński - said Barbara Nowacka in TVP Info's "Question of the Day."

20:57

Trzaskowski:

It's good this presidential campaign will be longer, I ran out of time in 2020

I believe it's good that this campaign will be longer. In 2020, I ran out of time to convince all the undecided. I think if that campaign had lasted another two or three weeks, I would have won it, even with the apparatus of hate and propaganda, which has hardened me considerably. So it's good [that the presidential campaign starts on January 8th]; there will be time to convince Polish women and men – Rafał Trzaskowski said on Polsat News.

Trzaskowski on His Primary Election Results:

I'm Not Sure of Victory, But I Have Positive Emotions.

- I'm not sure of victory, but I only have positive emotions because this is a competition within the family; the emotions will only come out when facing the PiS candidate – stated Rafał Trzaskowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- For 8 years, PiS has thrown me against the walls; I participated in the most difficult campaigns of the last decade: two Warsaw campaigns, the presidential campaign, and the 2023 campaign. I simply maintain a cool head. Toughness doesn't mean using very harsh rhetoric. I believe that in diplomacy, one must bite their tongue and say tough things behind closed doors. I think that with today's polarization, if we want to connect with and appeal to the electorate that votes differently, calm rhetoric is more useful, and please don't confuse this with a lack of toughness – he continued.

Nowacka:

These Elections Will Be Won on the Economy, and PiS is Choosing Someone from the Realm of Historical Policy
- They [PiS] are choosing someone whose main area will be historical policy, because they believe something can be gained from that - Barbara Nowacka stated in TVP Info's "Pytanie dnia" [Question of the Day]. - These elections will be won by the economy, which is not among the feuding camps, but in the middle. And whoever can speak to entrepreneurs, employees, teachers, young people, residents of villages, towns, farmers - that is the person who will win - she assessed. According to Nowacka: - They [voters] will not be as interested in what someone thinks about history as they will be interested in the president standing guard over economic issues, caring for social policy, supporting – or not supporting – the government in appropriate areas.

Nowacka on Nawrocki:

In Pomerania, they talked a lot about him, and very rarely anything good.
- I think the public will learn more about the activities of Mr. Nawrocki, including those outside of the IPN - said Barbara Nowacka in TVP Info's "Question of the Day". - In Pomerania, they talked a lot about him, often and very rarely anything good - she indicated.
