Schetyna:

Sutryk Will Win the Election If We Are Mobilized

- I supported President Jacek Sutryk and I believe he will win this election if we are mobilized. I am also speaking in the first person plural because I am a resident of Wrocław and I will be voting on Sunday. It is important that these elections, important for individual cities and towns, do not affect the quality of the coalition, the internal coalition relations, so I hope that the Wrocław election will not do that either - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in “Sygnały dnia” on PR1.

08:14

Nowacka:

Meetings with Soldiers to Be Held in Schools. Approx. 800 Applications Day After Recruitment Began
- We have created a pilot program ["Education with the Military"], which has effectively started now, with local governments already reporting schools, and from May 6th to June 20th, special modules of meetings with soldiers will be held in schools, who will impart basic skills adapted to the age of children and youth. Such a three-hour module, depending of course on the age group [...], will include activities with soldiers, naturally in the presence of a teacher, often a school pedagogue, teaching appropriate behaviors, whether it's first aid, identifying cyber threats [...] finding shelter, or surviving in the forest - said Barbara Nowacka in "TVP Info Morning." - Already yesterday, about 800 schools were registered. Recruitment began on Wednesday and will last until the end of the month - she continued.

08:19

Bosak:

We Don't Want Fat Cats and Lazybones from PiS, PO, Lewica, PSL, and PL2050 in the EP, Only Hard-Working, Fighting Ants from Confederation
- We have a lot of work to do; the election campaign for the second round is at its finale, and the campaign for the European Parliament has already begun. Not all leaders need to be in one place on the same day. […] Today, for example, we are going to Koszalin and Szczecin […], Grzegorz Braun won't be there either, but that doesn't diminish the event in any way. Grzegorz Braun, on the other hand, is working in other voivodeships, constituencies, with his candidates – said Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with Grzegorz Kępka on Polsat News' "Graffiti". - We are all working towards one goal: a good result in the EP, so that we don't have fat cats, lazybones, and incompetent politicians from PiS, PO, Lewica, PSL, and Szymon Hołownia's party there, but instead, hard-working, fighting ants from Confederation. We are putting people on our lists who know languages, have no complexes, and are globally aware – he continued.

08:22

Nowacka on Changes to Homework: A Challenge for Parents Who See Their Child Has Free Time and a Spectrum of Opportunities for Spending it Together
- This is a change that somewhat forces a different approach to work at home, and also to the child's work. To their free time. It is also, frankly speaking, a great challenge for parents who see that the child has free time and there is a spectrum of opportunities to spend this time enjoyably and together, because many times we heard 'we don't have time to spend with our child because they are doing homework,' this is that time - said Barbara Nowacka on TVP Info, referring to changes in the rules for assigning homework in schools.

08:33

Bosak on Duda-Trump Meeting: Sensible. It's Accompanied by Artificial Controversy, and Tusk Gives Vent to His Malice
- The visit [by Andrzej Duda to Donald Trump] was sensible. It is accompanied by completely artificial controversy. I have the impression that some people in Polish politics are bored and are forcibly inventing problems for themselves - said Krzysztof Bosak in "Graffiti" on Polsat News. Asked about Donald Tusk's tweet on the matter, he replied: - Well, what's the point of that statement? Donald Tusk is giving vent to his malice towards the president who wanted to cooperate with him. The question is, why? In my opinion, for no reason. It's a suggestion that the president went and did something wrong. Because when a politician writes "I trust that," they sow the assumption that it could have been the opposite.

08:34

Schetyna on Presidential Elections: In Autumn We Will Decide Who Will Represent KO or the Entire Democratic Side

- Certainly KO, and we will build. We will see, a lot will change after these elections, it will be an intense 11 months, and in autumn we will decide who will represent KO, for sure, or the entire democratic side. We will see - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

- He [Rafał Trzaskowski] has all the arguments to be the KO candidate. Would he be a good candidate for the entire democratic side, the democratic coalition? Certainly yes. Will it happen? We will see - he continued.

08:43

Bosak:

We are not a party to this war and should not become one, but we should support Ukraine so it doesn't lose.
- Stating whether this is our war or not leads us to misleading conclusions. This question can be understood in two ways. Are our interests accounted for and involved there? Yes, they are. The security of the Polish state and our economic development depend on how this war ends – said Krzysztof Bosak in Polsat News's "Graffiti". - On the other hand, the second way of understanding this question is whether we are a party to this war. The answer is: no, thank God we are not and should not become one. However, does it affect our interests? Of course, yes, very strongly. We should support Ukraine so it doesn't lose this war. We don't need to have our entire border with Russia and another puppet state, like Belarus, on our borders – he stated.

09:12

Dziemianowicz-Bąk on Mass Layoffs: A Significant Portion of Current Mass Layoffs Were Announced Last Year

- We need to monitor this closely, however, a significant portion of the mass layoffs taking place were announced last year, and indeed there are quite a few mass layoffs. At the same time, Poland remains a country with one of the lowest unemployment rates - said Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk on the program "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

09:17

Dziemianowicz-Bąk on the 'Active Parent' Program: The Project Will Provide Support to All Youngest Children in Poland

-The project will provide support to all [youngest] children in Poland. We have allocated funds in the budget so that after the holidays, in the last quarter of 2024, they will start to reach the accounts of parents returning to the labor market. By then, all IT systems should be ready - said Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk in the program "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

10:24

Obajtek:

I am under surveillance all the time, myself and my friends

- Mr. Editor, yes, I am being followed, I am under surveillance all the time, myself and my friends, all the time, I emphasize. I will not diagnose who is following me, it's hard for me to judge, I feel threatened, moreover, the knowledge I possess concerns many things in the concern. This concern, which was once managed where we practically had no profit, where it was managed by people who knew perfectly well about fuel mafias, VAT mafias, and everything in between. This concern is truly returning anew, these people are returning anew, I possess a lot of knowledge in this area, which is why I am very, very inconvenient – stated Daniel Obajtek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Radio Zet.

- I did not surveil any opposition MPs, they were absolutely not important to me in this regard, and that is utter nonsense. I was occupied with managing and building our national champion, which we have today. Orlen is the largest concern, it is our national champion, having the greatest recognition – he added.

10:26

Obajtek:

I Did Not Commission Any Photos of Opposition Politicians. If the Company Conducted Any Reconnaissance, it was Related to the Company's Operations

- The Prime Minister waved some pieces of paper [about the surveillance of former opposition MPs], where in reality it was a company that protected me on weekends and it was not a company that surveilled anyone. I did not commission any photos of opposition politicians, it is not like that, it is a powerful concern, where every decision goes through many departments, through many offices and no one commissions it. If the company conducted any reconnaissance, it was related to economic matters, I don't know who they took a photo of, or if they did, I didn't deal with it – said Daniel Obajtek on Radio Zet.

10:27

Obajtek on Orlen's Swiss Company: I Have Nothing to Blame Myself For. If the Old Management Were Still Here, These Transactions Would Be Finished

- The Trading company in Switzerland was established to shorten supply chains, so that intermediaries wouldn't earn too much. Such companies exist; all companies of this size have trading operations in Switzerland, or trading in London, it's a normal thing. I want to emphasize that what happened, or didn't happen, because it's solely a write-off and could be re-added shortly, is not caused by my fault or the fault of the previous management – stated Daniel Obajtek on Radio Zet.

- If the previous management were still in place, these transactions would have been completed and there would have been no problem; we have evidence of this, and that management will certainly prove it someday. Another matter, and this is solely a diversion, a diversionary tactic by Mr. Sienkiewicz. Another matter, the case of the president. At the time the president was hired, he was a person who had lived in Poland for 20 years; it's not just the president, as another board member also worked at PGNiG for 15 years. Secondly, he underwent full verification of his criminal record in Poland and Switzerland. No [I have nothing to blame myself for] – he continued.

10:28

Obajtek on accusations of Orlen embezzlement: 'We're discussing trivialities, the real scandal is elsewhere'

- Mr. Editor, you know, no offense, but I'll use strong words now. You know, we are really not discussing serious matters for Orlen, for Poland, for the economy, but we are discussing trivialities, no offense, which are definitely the least important in all of this, because expenses of that nature for a plane, which was only ordered once during a vacation because it was necessary to fly quickly and return quickly, is a normal thing in standard business. Mr. Budka has confused public administration with large international business; he will never understand this. The scandals are elsewhere – said Daniel Obajtek on Radio Zet.

10:28

Obajtek on accusations of tracking Sienkiewicz: He wasn't a private individual there, but a representative of a company Orlen was vetting

- I respect the media in all of this, but some in the media behave like softies and give general consent to what's happening, shifting the emphasis elsewhere. It just so happens that this amount is $100,000, which are normal sums when you hire an international firm to conduct checks. Mr. Sienkiewicz was not a private individual there; rather, Mr. Sienkiewicz was one of the representatives to whom consulting was commissioned, including on the matter of oil purchases. And it just so happens that this company had the right to be vetted, because it was nothing other than something that had no basis in reality or logic in all of this. Mr. Sienkiewicz's companies linked to Orlen, IO, cashed in 13 million for consulting, and we are talking about flights that are related to business. And what is strangest is that there was consulting regarding Eastern energy companies, in all of this – stated Daniel Obajtek on Radio Zet.

10:28

Obajtek on his European Parliament Candidacy: Talks are Underway
Talks are underway regarding [my candidacy for the European Parliament], because I would be lying if I said they weren't being conducted, but let's wait a few days. This is the decision of the President, it is also the decision of the PiS board, we are holding talks in this regard and we will see in a few days – said Daniel Obajtek on Radio Zet.

12:59

Trzaskowski:

The final stretch is ahead of us. These local elections are devilishly important

- The final stretch is ahead of us, and it is very important to win not only in Toruń but also in Włocławek. I am coming to you from Warsaw, but I will continue my tour. I have visited many cities and towns. Today, a certain mobilization is truly necessary. Two weeks ago, we had mobilization, but we would all want this turnout and mobilization to be even greater because the final stretch is ahead of us. These local elections are devilishly important - said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference in Toruń.

15:30

Tusk:

No leniency for Russian service collaborators. We will cauterize every betrayal and attempt at destabilization with a hot iron.

- An attempted assassin of President Zelensky, a Pole acting in concert with Russian services – arrested 2 days ago. A Belarusian working for the Russians, who commissioned two Poles to assassinate an associate of Navalny – detained - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Twitter.

- The assassins are also already in custody. They are linked to fan ultra circles. This is just in April. For collaborators of Russian services, there will be no leniency. We will cauterize every betrayal and attempt at destabilization with a hot iron - the head of government emphasized.

16:32

Macierewicz:

The Scale of Putin's Crimes is Obvious, the Murder of Kaczyński and the Polish Elite Was Aimed at Eliminating Poland's Independence Structure
The scale of Putin's crimes is obvious; the murder of President Kaczyński and the Polish elite, not just military, the entire military elite, we are aware of this, the entire then military elite, but also the civilian and social elite that was murdered, had a clear political goal. This political goal was to eliminate Poland's independence structure in order to enable the Russian offensive that was then launched and whose drama we are experiencing today in Europe and the world. We must realize that the Smoleńsk crime was the beginning of this aggression that we are dealing with today – stated Antoni Macierewicz at a press conference in the Sejm.

16:35

Trzaskowski:

I am absolutely convinced Jaśkowiak will win the election in Poznań
Cooperation between local government officials, the city, district, and regional authorities is absolutely crucial when it comes to investment matters. The final hours are ahead of us, the final stretch, the final moments of the campaign – they are incredibly important because we have a second round in over 60 cities. It's not easy to win in the first round, therefore full mobilization is needed. Truly, when it comes to local elections, we probably would have wanted greater mobilization in the first round, but I am pleased because these results are really good. However, in the second round, this mobilization is absolutely necessary; we cannot allow chance to decide in any city in Poland, and if there is less mobilization, various things can happen. I am absolutely convinced that Jacek Jaśkowiak will win the election in Poznań, but of course, everything is in your hands – stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference in Poznań.

19:31

Mastalerek:

I Don't Understand the Point of Tusk's Malice

- First and foremost, I don't understand the point of Prime Minister Donald Tusk's malice. He's simply been quite nervous lately, and this has become particularly evident since the elections. Primarily, a month ago, President Andrzej Duda, while in Washington for the 25th anniversary of Poland's NATO accession, met with both Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the Senate - said Marcin Mastalerek on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:34

Mastalerek:

President Trump is a great friend of Poland

- After this 2.5-hour meeting, I can say that President Trump is a great friend of Poland, and I am certain of that. As long as President Duda is managing Poland's affairs, I believe we have nothing to fear, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk made a mistake a month ago by attacking Republicans on Twitter - said Marcin Mastalerek on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of the Event) on Polsat News.

19:45

Mastalerek:

Why Didn't Tusk Meet Johnson in the USA, Instead Insulting Him on Twitter?

- Why, while in Washington, did Donald Tusk not meet with Johnson, not present his arguments, but instead insult him on Twitter. After all, one only needs to go to Washington now, one only needs to go to New York to hear what American politicians think of such attacks - said Marcin Mastalerek in the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:50

Mastalerek:

Penalties for Espionage Must Be Stricter
I am surprised that the penalties for espionage are so low; they should have been increased long ago. I believe the suspect faces perhaps 8 years in prison, which is not enough. Penalties for espionage against the Republic of Poland should be drastic (...) we need to toughen penalties for espionage – said Marcin Mastalerek in the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:58

Mastalerek:

PiS Needs a Wake-Up Call

- Please note that even though everything I say about PiS, or about the United Right in general, I say as someone who supports them, who tells them certain things that I would like to bring them to their senses. Yes, PiS needs [a wake-up call], because the voices of sympathizers like myself, who are currently standing aside and trying to advise them, are falling on deaf ears - said Marcin Mastalerek on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

Miszalski vs. Gibała, Sutryk vs. Bodnar, Śliwka vs. Missan: A Review of Campaign Spots Ahead of the Second Round of Local Elections

In Krakow, the second round of elections will see a showdown between Aleksander Miszalski (Civic Platform) and Łukasz Gibała. The former proposed evolution rather than revolution and strongly emphasized the role of residents in co-creating the city. Campaign materials also touched upon issues such as the development of public transportation, including the construction of a metro.

Łukasz Gibała highlighted Krakow's diversity. He also argued that the city should remain distant from the "political squabble" that, implicitly, is taking place in Warsaw.

Wroclaw features a clash between the incumbent mayor, Jacek Sutryk, supported by Civic Platform and New Left, and Izabela Bodnar, who is currently a Member of Parliament for Poland 2050. Sutryk spoke extensively about investments in the city, both those already completed and those residents are still waiting for (such as the famous tram to Jagodno).

In her campaign spot, Izabela Bodnar emphasized the importance of dialogue with Wroclaw residents. She also frequently spoke during the campaign about the city needing change and boasted about the support from Rafał Dutkiewicz, the former mayor of Wroclaw, who in 2018 nominated Sutryk as his successor and later apologized for him.

In Gdynia, the second round pits Aleksandra Kosiorek against Tadeusz Szemiot. The former presented herself as a civic candidate concerned about the current situation in the city.

Tadeusz Szemiot boasted about his support from the Civic Coalition. He also presented "100 matters to be addressed" in Gdynia, following the model of the Civic Coalition's "100 concrete actions" from the parliamentary election campaign, and in his spot, he drew attention to the utilization of urban areas.

In Olsztyn, on April 21st, residents have a choice between the Civic Platform candidate Robert Szewczyk and Czesław Małkowski, running from his own committee. Szewczyk, before the second round, urged voters to "cast their vote for democracy, modernity, a fresh perspective, new energy, and a secure future for Olsztyn."

Czesław Małkowski, in a nearly three-minute spot, listed a number of local matters to be resolved. He also emphasized his extensive experience, which he believes will translate into good city management.

Czesław Małkowski's Spot.

In Elbląg, the second round of elections features Michał Missan from Civic Platform and Andrzej Śliwka from Law and Justice. The former highlighted his experience as the city's vice-mayor and his desire to cooperate with the government.

Andrzej Śliwka, former deputy minister of state assets and current MP, spoke among other things about the construction of a new stadium. He also argued that everyone should cooperate for the good of the city, regardless of where they were born. He also stated that "enough of this old, lazy administration."

20:05

Mastalerek:

Kurski is Stuck in the Early 2000s

- I haven't changed my opinion about Jacek Kurski since 2011, since November 30th, when after leaving PiS he claimed that due to President Lech Kaczyński, who signed the Lisbon Treaty, the death penalty cannot be introduced in Poland, he attacked this Treaty, he attacked President Lech Kaczyński at the time, for me it was disgusting. I am steadfast in my views (...) Jacek Kurski has harmed and continues to harm this camp; if he is nominated, it will be to the detriment of the future (...) he is a man who stopped in the early 2000s - said Marcin Mastalerek in the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:20

Trzaskowski:

These Elections Are Crucially Important, This Next Step Is Necessary
- I am very happy to be here with you in Wrocław. It is no accident that we are ending here today because I started this morning in Toruń, then I was in Konin, and I am coming to you straight from Poznań to tell everyone how important this final stretch is. There are literally only a few hours of campaign left, and I hope that all of you will show up in large numbers on Sunday at the polling stations, because these elections are crucially important. In the first round, there was, of course, a turnout that satisfied and pleased us, but we can all honestly say today that it could have been higher. And therefore, ladies and gentlemen, it is very important to me to say to everyone today, to everyone who is listening to us: local government elections are devilishly important because it is in local government that the most important decisions are made, the ones that determine our lives. We all took the first step on October 15th, and for that, I wanted to thank all the residents of Wrocław sincerely, because it is also thanks to you that we have pushed populists away from power, but this next step is necessary – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Wrocław.

20:23

Trzaskowski:

We Reclaimed the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Sejmik and Have a Chance for Good Cooperation Between Mayor Sutryk and the Voivodeship Board
- It is also thanks to you that we reclaimed the sejmik. This is something absolutely incredible, and I wanted to thank you clearly and honestly for it, because reclaiming sejmiks was a very, very difficult thing for us, but we succeeded in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. We succeeded, and now we have a chance for good cooperation between Mayor Jacek Sutryk and the voivodeship board – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Wrocław.

20:28

Trzaskowski:

Please vote for Sutryk in Wrocław
- I very much ask you to cast your vote for Jacek Sutryk in Wrocław. The last hours are upon us, and soon the election silence will begin. I want to guarantee you one thing: we all always learn from what you tell us, and truly, even if a person stands on their head, sometimes a mistake happens. Not everything always succeeds, but the most important thing is that we are all a guarantee that we listen to your opinions and that we will continue to listen to them, as we stand here on this stage. I am convinced that there is a chance for Wrocław to develop harmoniously, for the entire voivodeship to develop harmoniously, and we will fight for Wrocław to be one of the best examples of how strong local democracy is – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Wrocław.

20:31

Trzaskowski:

Where Taxes Are Earned, They Should Stay. We're Discussing This with the Finance Minister
- If we all work together to ensure that the new system of financing local governments is fair, that it is not a political system but a fair one, where taxes are earned, there they should stay, here, in Wrocław. And that's precisely what we're fighting for, what we're discussing with the Finance Minister. If we share our best experiences, I am convinced that all local governments in Poland will grow, that we will be able to put Poland and our local governments [...] on the path to development, on the European path - said Rafał Trzaskowski in Wrocław.

20:39

Siemoniak:

Investigations into Orlen are ongoing, therefore the former CEO is undoubtedly at the center of interest for services and the prosecution.
- It is not being said what exactly the services are doing. The services are dealing with Orlen, there are several investigations, some of which, incidentally, stem from actions taken before December, under the previous government, the services were also dealing quite intensively with Orlen, so to some extent it is a continuation - said Tomasz Siemoniak in a conversation with Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf in "Pytanie dnia" on TVP Info. - There is no political order in this, it is simply about taking care of the state's interest - he emphasized. - Investigations concerning Orlen are ongoing, so undoubtedly the [former] CEO, the previous management of this concern, is at the center of interest for the services and the prosecution. How, who, whether they are standing by a car, or reviewing materials, documents at the company's headquarters - that is already the secret of the services, and this investigation is certainly moving towards the formulation of charges, indictments. There is no doubt that the matters are very serious - he stressed.

20:41

Siemoniak:

If Obajtek Feels Threatened as a Politician, He Should Take Appropriate Action. Otherwise, It's an Opinion of Little Significance
- If someone is threatened, they should go to the police and state what the elements of that threat are. Mr. Daniel Obajtek is a person who should be treated as someone from the political sphere; we hear about his ambitions to run for the European Parliament, so if he feels threatened as a politician, he should take appropriate action. Otherwise, it is solely an opinion that, with all due respect, has little significance - said Tomasz Siemoniak in "Pytanie dnia" on TVP Info.
