Paprocka:

Sikorski's Announcement of Ambassador Recalls is an Absolute Distortion and Overinterpretation

- It is an absolute distortion, such an overinterpretation, to attribute powers to oneself, for Minister Sikorski to announce that he has recalled ambassadors. The Minister of Foreign Affairs neither appoints nor, of course, recalls them. It is a matter of subordination, it is a matter of representation, but of the Republic of Poland, not of the government - stated Małgorzata Paprocka in "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

08:31

Paprocka:

Over 50 Ambassadors – This is Truly a Tremor

- This is a number of over 50 ambassadors, this is truly a tremor. Some will call it a purge, others will say what I say, but certainly, above all, I emphasize the issue of responsibility, so that this situation is also well assessed and handled with regard to its evaluation by our foreign partners - stated Małgorzata Paprocka on "Graffiti" Polsat News.

08:38

Paprocka:

I Absolutely Know Nothing About Any Agreements Regarding Alleged Protection of 4 Diplomatic Missions
That is a very convenient interpretation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The President, and I say this with full responsibility, absolutely does not view the staffing of diplomatic missions in this way, and I know absolutely nothing about any agreements regarding the alleged protection of 4 missions - stated Małgorzata Paprocka on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:56

Żukowska:

Now You Can Vote According to Your Convictions, No Need to Save Anyone. These Will Be Pure Elections
- There is such an internet chain [regarding posts by Donald Tusk and Robert Biedroń], where only one word is exchanged to amplify the resonance of the entire message. And the message is that these are no longer elections about whether PiS will rule Poland or not; now you can vote absolutely according to your convictions, there is no need to save anyone, no one is falling below the threshold. These will be pure elections - said Anna Maria Żukowska in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on „Gość Radia ZET”.

09:02

Żukowska:

Third Way Has Formed an Alliance Against Women
- I think it was the Third Way that formed some kind of alliance against women. That's why all those who think otherwise, who believe that women should have their rights and decide about their bodies independently, meaning Civic Platform and The Left, are on the other pole, naturally - said Anna Maria Żukowska in "Gość Radia ZET", when asked if Donald Tusk and Robert Biedroń had formed an alliance against the Third Way. - He could have avoided it [Szymon Hołownia's quarrel], he could have simply not been guided by some stubbornness that is completely incomprehensible to me. Because we are talking about abortion anyway, contrary to what the Marshal assumed, that we wouldn't be talking about it if he postponed the date for the procedure of these projects. And everyone knows that he postponed it artificially, […] it was his individual decision. He did it so that he wouldn't have to show how he would vote before the elections - she continued.

09:07

Żukowska:

Hołownia is Employing Moral Blackmail
- Nobody questions the stability of the government. Regarding the laws that we agreed upon in the coalition agreement, that we are working on in the ministries - there are no doubts about that. We are then like one fist, we vote together, we fight for these projects. The dispute concerns some things because we have different visions and perceive different risks, for example, in the case of the health contribution, but we do not blackmail, as Szymon Hołownia does, by threatening to leave the government - said Anna Maria Żukowska in "Gość Radia ZET". When asked if Szymon Hołownia is a blackmailer, she replied: - Calling someone a "blackmailer" is already more of a criminal matter, [...] this is moral blackmail. If you put something on the line and say: either this, or that [...], either you give me this, or I'm leaving, what would you call that?

09:09

Tusk:

True Solidarity with Ukraine? Fewer Words, More Ammunition

- True solidarity with Ukraine? Fewer words, more ammunition - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Twitter.

09:21

Żukowska:

If Hołownia Keeps His Word, I Will Apologize and Personally Visit Him with Flowers on April 11th
- I will apologize if the Marshal keeps his word and all the bills are indeed considered on April 11th. In that case, on April 11th, I will personally go to the Marshal with flowers, provided it's not April 12th, April 13th, or June, or July - said Anna Maria Żukowska on "Gość Radia ZET".

09:36

Żukowska:

The Foreign Minister Needs Trusted Individuals as an Extension of Their Arm. Magierowski is Not a Professional Diplomat; He Was a Politician
- A Minister of Foreign Affairs must have trusted individuals as an extension of their arm – diplomacy, meaning ambassadors. Because through them, they conduct foreign policy – said Anna Maria Żukowska on „Gość Radia ZET”. - If these are people who often received nominations not in line with their qualifications, but rather through cronyism, because they were someone's family, friends […], then I absolutely share Minister Sikorski's opinion. It's his decision, with whom he wants to cooperate – she continued. - You've mentioned this cream of the crop [Magierowski, Szatkowski, Skwieciński], who unfortunately are at the summit of a mountain, which is not a mountain of substance, but of cronyism. Regarding Mr. Magierowski specifically, I have no reservations; I always thought that he indeed fulfilled his mission, especially in Israel, very well, but that's how it looks – she went on to say. - This is one of the most important countries for us – the United States. We need to have an ambassador there who will have good relations and will execute the decisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, managed by Minister Sikorski. This could be called into question, as he [Magierowski] is not a professional diplomat. He was a politician – she stated.

09:43

Gawkowski:

The '100 Concrete Actions' of PO Cannot Be Transferred to 4 Political Parties, Because If They Could, PO Would Rule Alone
- The Prime Minister asked us to prepare such a list [of what has been achieved], so that we can be held accountable. I like this kind of work, I like the management style Donald Tusk employs, meaning: show what you need to do, show how much you've done, and at the end, I'll ask you if you've done it. What should be the hallmark of this government, meaning: we deliver on issues, but to deliver, you need to know where you are. This is precisely the method. We account for what we promised; I like it – stated Krzysztof Gawkowski in the program "Salon Polityczny Trójki" on PR3. - The 100 concrete actions that Civic Platform had cannot be transferred to 4 political parties, because if they could, Platform would rule alone. And today we have a coalition consisting of the Left, and the Third Way, and each of these entities agrees to some things, and not to others – he added.

09:57

Gawkowski:

The governing coalition is stable; in local elections, people vote for individuals, so why should we vote tactically?
- Parties have programs and would like to implement them. Today, in these local elections, the Left is focusing on a modern, open school that is well-resourced for students, teachers, and parents. On rental housing, which should be more abundant, not just loans, buying, and hoarding money, and the third issue is the hospital. A hospital that is accessible, where we don't wait in line – said Krzysztof Gawkowski in PR3. - The governing coalition is stable and will remain stable, and we will govern for 4 years. Secondly, it is a good coalition for Polish women and men because we are changing, opening up the country, letting in fresh air, and also making changes. And in local government, people are voted for after all. People who come from your street, from your neighborhood, who live somewhere nearby, so why should we vote tactically – he added.

10:43

Siemoniak:

I have knowledge that Pegasus was certainly directed against individuals inconvenient for PiS
It's good that the commission is starting with this, that it's starting from the very top. President Jarosław Kaczyński was the de facto leader of Poland for 8 years and responsible for various matters. He was also Deputy Prime Minister for Security twice, so he had the formal title to deal with matters such as special services. It's interesting what he will say, he has made several statements about Pegasus in his various roles in the past, and I think that from these statements, a certain picture of his knowledge, perhaps his decisions, emerges […]. Neither Prime Minister Szydło nor Prime Minister Morawiecki were the actual decision-makers. The question of whether he pointed out individuals for surveillance, or whether he familiarized himself with any materials, there are many questions here – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in the program ,,Sedno sprawy” on Radio Plus. I am convinced and I have knowledge in this regard that this tool [Pegasus] was certainly directed against individuals inconvenient for PiS, and the example of Krzysztof Brejza exhausts all hallmarks, and he is not the only one – he added.

10:43

Siemoniak on revealing individuals targeted by Pegasus: We discussed it with Bodnar, and I believe we'll be ready with the procedure next week
We agreed with Minister Bodnar, as the authority here lies with the Prosecutor General, which he is, that we will review this list, and the prosecution, the Prosecutor General, will individually notify those who were unjustifiably surveilled. We decided this is the only possible way, and then if the interested party receives such information, they can formally share it, or choose not to share it – Tomasz Siemoniak said on Radio Plus. There were significantly more individuals than the cases that are widely discussed; I don't want to talk about orders of magnitude here. I am also surprised that some people are speaking out, and I am surprised that Messrs. Kamiński and Wąsik also referred to a certain number at their press conference. This is not public information. […] I think it will be in the coming weeks. We discussed this with Minister Bodnar yesterday, and I believe we will be ready with this procedure next week – he continued.

11:02

Morawiecki:

Without My Government's Reforms, We Would Be Defenseless Today. My Government Initiated the Largest Ever Armament Purchase Programs
25 years ago, Poland joined NATO, opening a new chapter in its history. We freed ourselves from the Soviet sphere of influence once and for all. We became a member of the West and the most powerful military alliance in history. This was the fulfillment of dreams for many generations of Poles and the crowning achievement of many years of effort, undertaken by politicians of various options. They knew that Poland's security was more important than particular interests or party disputes. Thanks are due to all who brought about Poland's accession to NATO. As the largest member state on NATO's eastern flank, we stand guard over freedom and security today. Not only our country's, but Europe's as well - stated Mateusz Morawiecki in a recording published on social media. We are allocating nearly 4% of GDP to defense, the most among the North Atlantic Pact countries. Only thanks to the repair of public finances are we able to afford these purchases today. Without the reforms of my government, we would be defenseless today. It was my government that initiated the largest armament purchase programs in history. Money spent on defense is an investment in our freedom, our security, stability, and economic development. NATO's strength comes not only from the weapons we possess, but also from the values we share as a community of Western nations. Tyranny and imperialism will never triumph over the power of democracy, freedom, and solidarity. United, we are strong. Let us be together as a society, as a political class, as a nation. We must do this for future generations - he added.

11:36

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz:

In the KPO revision, we want to remove the tax on owning combustion engine cars, which the PiS government included
- The Green Deal should be for Polish women and men, not for ideas or the EU. We deserve clean air and green, sovereign energy, but the path to them does not lead through prohibitions. In the revision of the KPO, we want to remove the tax on owning combustion engine cars, which the PiS government included - informed the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

12:22

Kaczyński:

My Knowledge of Pegasus, Potentially Classified, is Marginal
- According to the regulations pertaining to the commission's operation, I am to take an oath here. In this oath, there is a formula stating that I must tell everything I know. This part of my knowledge concerning Pegasus, which could be treated as secret or even top secret, is minimal, one might even say marginal. But if I am to tell the whole truth, then I cannot take such an oath - said Jarosław Kaczyński during his testimony before the Pegasus investigative committee. - We will, of course, not expose you to the necessity of breaking the secrecy you possess. If an occasion arises where answering a question involves content covered by a secret or top-secret classification, you will, of course, be exempted from the obligation to answer that question, and we will conduct such commission proceedings that will take place in a closed session - replied Magdalena Sroka.

12:45

Kaczyński Refuses to Take Full Oath: "I Will Not Swear to Tell Everything I Know"
- If the committee is ready to accept my oath without me telling everything, then I will take it, but if it requires me to tell everything, then I will not take it, because I cannot, as it is an obvious violation of the law… I will take the oath, but omitting that part - said Jarosław Kaczyński during his hearing before the Pegasus investigative committee. - I will not swear to tell everything I know, because without permission from the Prime Minister, I cannot do so - he added. Kaczyński maintains that without authorization, he cannot testify regarding information covered by a secrecy clause. The PiS leader stood up and began repeating the oath after the chairperson: Aware of the significance of my words and my responsibility before the law, I solemnly swear that I will tell the sincere truth... However, when asked to say the words: "concealing nothing that is known to me", he replied: I cannot say that for the reason I have already mentioned.

13:01

Parliamentary Committee Requests Court Sanction Against Kaczynski

The Pegasus parliamentary investigative committee has voted to submit a request to the court for the sanctioning of Jarosław Kaczyński, who refused to take the oath – or more precisely, took it incompletely. Six MPs voted in favour, five against, and no one abstained.

13:11

Kaczyński:

The entire Pegasus affair is a political undertaking, part of a broader scheme to create an imagined reality.

- The entire Pegasus affair is a political undertaking, and I'm referring to this matter, the propaganda sphere, the media sphere, which is part of a broader undertaking. It's about creating a kind of anti-reality, an imagined reality, which referred to the general thesis that there is a dictatorship in Poland. A dictatorship in a situation where the opposition, and an opposition that describes itself as total, operates without the slightest restrictions and often very aggressively; the opposition holds power in many local governments, and local governments in Poland have very far-reaching powers, perhaps the greatest in Europe, meaning it wields part of the power within this dictatorship, while simultaneously being the total opposition, where the majority of media outlets are decidedly against the government and are very, very aggressive about it; when, with the consent of the authorities and without any countermeasures, very many, often aggressive demonstrations occur; when it unites, and this is tolerated, when citizens have no restrictions, for example, online, when it comes to attacking, including brutally attacking, impolitely, extremely impolitely, boorishly attacking, simply people in power, in such a country we are dealing with a dictatorship. There are people who, under the influence of the media and under the influence of the emergence of this phenomenon, which in psychology is called cognitive dissonance, are simply unable to perform a certain analysis. These are generally people who have trouble discerning reality, who accept this kind of message, and the Pegasus affair is precisely part of this message, but it also has a certain specific feature – stated Jarosław Kaczyński during the Pegasus special parliamentary committee inquiry.

13:14

Kaczyński:

I have a list of spied-on journalists. This shows when there were actual elements of democracy being broken

- I have here a list of journalists surveilled by the authorities in previous years - stated Jarosław Kaczyński during the Pegasus inquiry committee, subsequently reading out the aforementioned list.

- Madam, forgive me, this is simply a demonstration of when there were actual elements of democracy being broken - he added.

13:17

Breaking News! A Concrete Measure for Farmers: Fallowing Will Not Be Mandatory, Starting This Year

- Breaking News! A concrete measure for farmers: fallowing will not be mandatory, and this starting this year. This is the outcome of my talks with the President of the Commission. More details will be released later today - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Twitter.

13:36

Sroka to Kaczyński: Will You Agree to a Polygraph Examination?

- Would you be able to agree to undergo a polygraph examination during any potential ongoing proceedings? Will you agree to an interrogation with the use of a polygraph? - Magdalena Sroka asked during the Pegasus investigation committee.

- I am not a person suspected of anything. If you want to formulate here that I am suspected, then my legal situation immediately changes, and therefore you cannot ask me this type of question. This is a provocative question, and you had better withdraw it - replied Jarosław Kaczyński.

13:37

Kaczyński on Committee Session: "What's Happening Here is a Show the Ruling Coalition is Trying to Present to Society"

- I want to emphasize once again that what is happening here right now, as well as in other committees, is just a show that the currently ruling coalition is trying to present to society, in order, firstly, to distract attention from their actions, incredibly drastic violations of the law, violations of the constitution, and actions that are, at least in part, the implementation of Article 127 of the Penal Code, i.e., changing the political system by force. Because force is being used, and this is a very serious crime, a felony punishable by life imprisonment. And secondly, I don't want to show, or at least I want to divert attention from the fact that during the election campaign, it made many promises that it is simply not fulfilling – stated Jarosław Kaczyński at the session of the parliamentary committee of inquiry into Pegasus.

13:38

Kaczyński:

The Polish State Needs Pegasus-Type Surveillance Tools; The Previous Government Had Far More Dangerous Ones

- The Polish state, like other states, must have Pegasus-type surveillance tools, because there are many such devices. The previous government also had such devices, and ones that could operate in a way incomparably more dangerous to citizens than this device that was purchased. The whole affair is one big abuse, but at the same time, it also creates grounds for presumption. I emphasize presumption; there is no certainty here, but presumption, that we are dealing here with the influence of what the President of the Republic of Poland recently mentioned, i.e., the powerful Russian lobby – stated Jarosław Kaczyński during a session of the parliamentary inquiry committee on Pegasus.

13:54

Sienkiewicz:

Kaczyński Explains Pegasus Before Parliamentary Committee, While Tusk Effectively Champions Polish Farmers in the EU

- A role reversal: Kaczyński is explaining Pegasus before the parliamentary committee, while Tusk is effectively fighting for Polish farmers in the EU. This is exactly how it was supposed to be - wrote Minister Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz on Twitter.

14:42

Kaczyński:

The Work of This Committee is Extremely Harmful to Poland. I Hope it Will One Day Be the Subject of Appropriate State Action
- Yes, I believe it is harmful [the work of this committee] and one could even say extremely harmful, intentionally - of course, apart from the gentlemen [PiS MPs] and perhaps Mr. Wipler - harmful, with full determination to harm Poland, Poles. I hope that one day it will be the subject of appropriate state action - said Jarosław Kaczyński during his hearing before the parliamentary investigative committee on Pegasus.

14:47

Ozdoba and Gosek Excluded from Pegasus Investigation Committee Proceedings

The Pegasus investigation committee has voted to exclude PiS MPs Jacek Ozdoba and Mariusz Gosek from today's proceedings. In the first case, the motion was supported by 6 members, with 5 voting against. In the second, 6 MPs voted 'for', and 4 against. No one abstained from voting.

15:52

Kaczyński:

Pegasus Use Was Entirely Legal, No Irregularities
- I declare that the use of Pegasus was entirely legal, there were no irregularities. The vast, overwhelming majority, 99% of these actions concerned ordinary criminals. Perhaps there was such an instance where it concerned individuals holding some public office, but those individuals are also criminals - said Jarosław Kaczyński during his hearing before the Pegasus investigative committee.

16:06

Kaczyński:

Fakes, Fakes, and More Fakes, and an Attempt to Convince the Public Something Happened That Didn't

- I am deeply convinced that we are dealing here with what I have already said, I don't like this language, but I will use it again. Fakes, fakes, and more fakes, and an attempt to convince the public that something happened that didn't happen and that we took actions… - stated Jarosław Kaczyński during the Pegasus investigative committee.

16:20

Tusk:

We Want to Help in Every Possible Way, Here and Now, So Ukraine's Situation Improves in the Coming Weeks and Months, Not Worsens

- We have identical views regarding the assessment of who bears full responsibility for the escalation of tension, who bears full responsibility for the tragic events in Ukraine, who is the aggressor, and who deserves our unconditional aid. I wanted to thank the President, the Chancellor, for recognizing, without any unnecessary delay, sometimes typical of political haggling or hesitation, that aid for Ukraine must be immediate and as intense as possible. We want to spend our money, to help in every possible way, here and now, so that Ukraine's situation improves in the coming weeks and months, not worsens - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the Weimar Triangle press conference in Berlin.

16:29

Tusk:

Europe and the Weimar Triangle, we are aware that no one and nothing will relieve us Europeans of responsibility for our security

- Europe and us as the Weimar Triangle feel responsible for the best possible future of transatlantic relations and at the same time we are aware and draw consequences from this: that no one and nothing will relieve us Europeans of responsibility for our security, for our future. And therefore, we are also convinced that regardless of various political scenarios, the stronger Europe is, the greater the chance for Ukraine and the better the relations today and in the future, including transatlantic ones. A strong, united Europe is a desirable, the best possible partner for everyone without exception in the world, including, of course, the USA – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference of the Weimar Triangle in Berlin.

16:52

Kaczyński to Bosacki: You Are Objectively Restoring a Post-Communist System
- You may be such a naive person that you do not see it, perhaps you are not doing it subjectively, but objectively you are currently restoring the post-communist system, which we managed to a large extent, but unfortunately not completely, to undermine - said Jarosław Kaczyński during his interrogation before the Pegasus investigative committee, addressing Marcin Bosacki.

17:06

Tusk to Macron and Scholz: I am glad you accepted my invitation; we will warmly welcome you to Poland in early summer

- I am glad that you have accepted my invitation; we will warmly welcome you to Poland in early summer and will have the opportunity to summarize what we have done and present our next joint plans - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference of the Weimar Triangle in Berlin.

18:20

Kaczyński:

The Brejzas Should Account for All Accusations Against Them in Court
I believe that Mr. Brejza, both Mr. Brejzas, should explain in court all the accusations that are against them. I have no grounds to believe he is a spy, but in my opinion, there are serious grounds to believe that he has committed… - stated Jarosław Kaczyński during the Pegasus investigative committee.

18:21

Kaczyński on Giertych: There are serious grounds to believe he committed grave criminal offenses

- I can say this. There are serious grounds to believe that he committed grave criminal offenses. Of course, only a court can decide on that. In my opinion, he is not a spy - stated Jarosław Kaczyński during the Pegasus inquiry committee.

20:09

Sroka:

We Know Kaczyński Had Knowledge of Pegasus at the Time of Its Purchase
- Today's hearing gives us a certain picture. A picture that, despite Jarosław Kaczyński's previous denials that such a system was purchased... - said Magdalena Sroka during the Pegasus investigation committee's proceedings. - When did I deny it? - Jarosław Kaczyński interjected. - ...today we know that he was informed about it and had this knowledge at the moment of its purchase. This is an important circumstance because Poles were only informed about it in 2022 - the committee chairwoman continued. - Today's hearing also shows us that we dealt with a Deputy Prime Minister for Security who did not review any analysis, nor did he even commission any analysis regarding the Pegasus system, even though our license was revoked due to abuses. But we will prove and show all of this at subsequent committee meetings - she concluded.

20:15

Kaczyński:

There were no questions that threw me off balance. If questions are nonsensical, why should they throw me off balance?
- There were no such questions [that threw me off balance] because if questions are nonsensical, why should they throw me off balance? - Jarosław Kaczyński told journalists.

20:21

Kaczyński:

Pegasus was in the hands of people I trust, so I don't think they wanted to spy on me
- I held a very important position, indeed, but that doesn't change the fact that Pegasus was in the hands of people I trust, and therefore I don't think they wanted to spy on me - Jarosław Kaczyński told journalists. - Besides, they know me well. I operated in illegal politics for over a dozen years, which teaches you something – a certain caution. And that's why I only say what's permissible over the phone - he added.

20:53

Sienkiewicz:

Watergate Is Nothing Compared to PiS's Use of Pegasus Against Political Opponents

- The entire story that unfolded years ago in the USA and brought down President Nixon, Watergate, is simply nothing compared to what the PiS government used this tool [Pegasus] for. Even if the tool was purchased to combat crime, it simply turned into normal investigations against individuals inconvenient to those in power. In my opinion, this will have a judicial conclusion, and it is not impossible that Messrs. Kamiński and Wąsik will face a second verdict in the future. I believe this is absolutely possible [a guilty verdict for Kamiński and Wąsik] – stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:54

Sienkiewicz:

The Scale of What Happened in Poland Over 8 Years is Discovered Day by Day. We Are Truly at the Beginning of This Journey

- Three months have passed since we took over the state. We are in the process of reclaiming it from the hands of one political party, and this process will continue. […]. The scale of what happened in Poland over 8 years is being discovered day by day, and we are truly at the beginning of this journey. I say this absolutely seriously; it is not an excuse for anything. We are fully aware that for the majority of Polish citizens, the reflection or way of looking at public life is about what will happen next, not what has happened. We will tell you what we have achieved in 100 days, what we have succeeded in, and what we have failed to achieve and why we failed – said Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in Polsat News.

20:54

Sienkiewicz:

We will not let citizens down, the October 15th coalition will not fall apart
All members of the coalition are well aware that they have certain points of contention among themselves, that they sometimes make snide remarks, and that this happens in the public eye. This is normal for coalition governments, and at the same time, everyone is equally aware that citizens voted for the October 15th coalition to govern Poland, and we will not let citizens down in this regard; this coalition is stable – stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in Polsat News.
