Petru on Freezing Electricity Prices Until Year-End: 'No, We Cannot Afford for the State to Constantly Subsidize'
- No [electricity prices should not be frozen until the end of 2024]. No, as a general principle, we cannot afford for the state to constantly subsidize prices. However, I am not in favour of a complete liberalization, because the price shock would be too high. Therefore, we must somehow smoothly transition to price liberalization after the six-month period during which they are frozen. I wouldn't want to go into details here, as this is a matter of discussion at the government level. But as a general principle, we cannot have a situation where the state subsidizes everything - said Ryszard Petru in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Radia ZET".

Dworczyk:

Elections Will Be Held Within the Constitutional Term

- I don't think we will have parliamentary elections in the coming years. I believe they will be held within the constitutional term. I think it's a 4-year period during which all political circles will be working to gain the trust of voters - stated Michał Dworczyk in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

- I believe that today there is no political space for early elections to take place, although of course it would be good for that to happen - he continued.

- This is a certain diagnosis of what would be best for the country. I share this opinion, but in the second sentence I say that I don't see the political space for such a solution to be realized in the coming months and years - he added.

08:07

Dworczyk:

We Are, Will Be, and Should Be Substantive Opposition, Not Total Opposition

- I believe, and we've been saying this from the beginning, that we are, will be, and should be, like any formation in our situation, a substantive opposition, not a total one. I've always contested the approach of questioning everything as part of a tribal war in Poland. We have substantive, concrete proposals, we point out the ruling party's mistakes where we believe they're made, and we contest what's happening around the plans to build a nuclear power plant, around other strategic projects - stated Michał Dworczyk in the 'Rozmowa Piaseckiego' program on TVN24.

08:14

Dworczyk:

Every Party Has the Right to Take Over Public Media, as It Has Been Since 1989. However, PO Clearly Broke the Law

- Considering what has recently happened regarding the takeover of public media – let’s be clear, I believe that every ruling party has the full right to do so, because this has been the case since 1989 and it is the case now. However, the manner of this takeover, with a clear violation of the law, leads precisely to the statement that Prime Minister Donald Tusk wants his words to become law and that PO is breaking the law in this area – stated Michał Dworczyk in the program “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24.

08:51

Petru:

We Should Establish a Coalition-Acceptable Formula for Sunday Trading as Soon as Possible
- Regarding, for example, the liberalization of trade, there are different opinions. We have proponents of full liberalization, meaning all Sundays trading. Honestly, I am in favour of such a solution, but Trzecia Droga proposed every second Sunday. I know that Lewica also tends not to go for full liberalization. We should sit down together as soon as possible and determine a formula that is coalition-acceptable and implement it, because we have local and European elections ahead of us, and Poles may start holding us accountable for fulfilling economic promises – Ryszard Petru said on Radio ZET. - Poles accept that we have only just formed this government, but in my opinion, we need to show a path for when we implement individual elements – he continued.

08:56

Petru:

I'm Considering the Scenario of Tusk Running for President. Our Candidate Will Be Hołownia, of Course
- Let's imagine that Prime Minister Donald Tusk runs for president [...]. I don't rule out such a scenario and I'm considering it. This is solely my opinion, which has no confirmation in any conversations, neither with Prime Minister Tusk nor with anyone from Civic Platform - Ryszard Petru said on Radio ZET. - I base my opinion on some political experience and observation that such a scenario might be considered. [...] Our candidate will be Szymon Hołownia, of course. It is important that the democratic camp wins against a representative of the broadly understood Law and Justice party (PiS) - he continued.

09:01

Petru:

Kosiniak-Kamysz's Position Against Tusk in Negotiations is Much Stronger Than Błaszczak's Against Kaczyński
- As Deputy Prime Minister, he has an exceptionally strong position, certainly much stronger than Mr. Błaszczak, who simply implemented Mr. Kaczyński's ideas and could not oppose them. Here, I don't believe there's any conflict or difference of opinion on armament issues between Prime Minister Tusk and Prime Minister Kosiniak, but even if there were, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz's negotiating position is significantly greater and stronger than Mr. Błaszczak's was against Kaczyński. There was no such position then; he simply had to implement ideas - said Ryszard Petru on Radio ZET.

09:05

Szczucki:

Kamiński and Wąsik are MPs and have no intention of resigning their seats

- Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik are Members of Parliament and have no intention of resigning their mandates. I assume they may try to participate in the work of the Sejm, as it is the duty of every MP to exercise their mandate. Of course, it is clear that Marshal Hołownia is showing his resistance, he will want to prevent them from doing so - stated Krzysztof Szczucki in the "Morning Interview" on RMF FM.

09:06

Petru:

I am in favour of cash, of course within a framework that would be somehow limited
- I am in favour of cash, of course within a framework that would be somehow limited, meaning I wouldn't want all transactions, I don't know, of 100 thousand, a million zloty to be in cash. This must be under control - Ryszard Petru said on Radio ZET. - I wouldn't want to comment on the amount now, but I believe there must be some limitation, so as not to support the grey economy, and on the other hand, cash must remain in circulation - he continued.

09:06

Szczucki:

PiS Will Soon Present its Candidate for Warsaw Mayor

- Other candidacies are being considered for the office of Mayor of Warsaw. Soon, PiS and the party leader will present these candidates (...) I haven't heard of such an idea [that Mariusz Kamiński would run for Mayor of Warsaw], so I don't know - stated Krzysztof Szczucki in the "Morning Interview" on RMF FM.

09:10

Petru:

Public sector wage increases will cause inflation, but it's compensation for past inflation
- It is known that [introducing wage increases for the public sector] will cause inflation, but it is to a large extent compensation for high inflation in the past - said Ryszard Petru on Radio ZET.

09:10

Siemoniak:

We are working on a project to liquidate the CBA and transfer its competences to other institutions
- No, [we haven't changed our minds about liquidating the CBA]. We are working on this project; we want to reconcile something important and a priority for Donald Tusk's government, namely the fight against corruption, with a solution where the CBA will be liquidated and its competences transferred to other institutions - said Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Beata Michniewicz in "Salon polityczny Trójki" PR3. - This is the will of the coalition, as written in the coalition agreement. It was in our program. I think that various stories that the public knows, and there are quite a lot of them coming back now at this moment [...], show that such a change is absolutely necessary - he continued. - There will be a project, there will be work in parliament. The question is what President Duda will do. [...] I really want this not to be a parliamentary bill thrown in somewhere at night, but a solid, serious discussion among all stakeholders. Perhaps the President will also want to have his say on this matter. I would really like such matters in the state to be the subject of compromise - he continued.

09:23

Siemoniak on the CBA's Replacement: A Special Anti-Corruption Structure in the Police, Strengthening the Anti-Corruption Division in ABW, and Asset Declarations to the KAS
- My vision is this – but I am open to discussion, of course – that a special structure should be created within the police, similar to CBŚP, a special anti-corruption unit, centrally managed. That the anti-corruption division within ABW should be strengthened, and ABW should focus on corruption that concerns nationwide matters [...]. And the verification of asset declarations of politicians and local government officials should be handled by the KAS. They have information on tax returns, and there is no reason for a special service to be reviewing asset declarations – said Tomasz Siemoniak in “Salon polityczny Trójki” PR3.

09:23

Bielan:

We are dealing with a creeping coup d'état
- We don't want a tit-for-tat policy, but we are dealing with a creeping coup d'état. We are dealing with a situation where the most important people in the state, I'm talking about the prime minister and his ministers, are breaking the Constitution, breaking the law. And it's not lawyers associated with us saying this, but a prominent constitutionalist who has often been a guest in this studio, Professor Piotrowski, who has repeatedly proven that Minister Sienkiewicz, for example, broke the Constitution by taking over public media – stated Adam Bielan in the program "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

09:24

Bielan:

We Cannot Remain Silent When Those in Power Trample on the Constitution, Break Laws
- The election campaign is very important before the local elections, and later before the European elections, but there are more important things. We cannot remain silent at a time when those in power are trampling on the Polish Constitution, manifestly breaking the Polish Constitution and laws, and Tusk says that the law will bind him as he understands it. That is, in effect, neither the Constitution nor the laws currently bind those in power. They want to change the legal order in Poland through Sejm resolutions, without the president's consent, and this is a precedent; we cannot remain silent in such a situation – Adam Bielan said on Polsat News.

09:27

Bielan:

I hope Kaczyński won't step down from running for PiS leader
- Next year, the PiS congress will take place, this is stipulated by the statute and the congress participants will decide on it. I hope that he [Jarosław Kaczyński] will not resign from running. I hope that when he makes the final decision next year, he will analyze all the consequences of such a withdrawal [...]. I don't know if it would fall apart, but PiS is Jarosław Kaczyński's brainchild, just as the entire United Right was in fact his brainchild, and his departure would certainly be a major shock – stated Adam Bielan on Polsat News.

09:28

Bielan on Correspondence Elections: I Considered It the Safest Method, I Didn't Organize Them
- I believed, as did the vast majority of United Right, that the elections ordered by Ms. Marshal Witek, ordered on February 8th, had to be conducted. I believed that at that time the safest and only socially acceptable method was the correspondence method. I did not organize these elections – said Adam Bielan in Polsat News.

09:34

Siemoniak:

Sroka is a good choice to lead the Pegasus inquiry committee
- This is a good choice. I value Ms. Magdalena Sroka; she has the trust of the leaders, as it was certainly the leaders of the Third Way who decided to nominate her for this role. She has experience working in the police, and I think she will be a good person to lead this [Pegasus inquiry] committee - said Tomasz Siemoniak in "Salon polityczny Trójki" on PR3.

PiS Files Criminal Complaint Against Bodnar

On behalf of the PiS parliamentary club, we are filing a notification of a potential commission of a crime by the Minister of Justice, Adam Bodnar. The former Ombudsman – informs the head of the PiS club, Mariusz Błaszczak, in the Sejm.

11:25

Prosecutor General Recalls 10 District and Regional Prosecutors from Delegations and Posts
Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar, in close cooperation with Acting National Prosecutor Jacek Bilewicz, are consistently implementing a program of changes in the Prosecutor's Office aimed at restoring this service to the citizens – the Ministry of Justice announced on social media. The attached statement presented the names of 10 district and regional prosecutors who have been recalled from their delegations and posts.

12:49

Myrcha on the dismissal of 10 regional and district prosecutors: This is a continuation of the mission to heal the situation in the prosecutor's office

- This is a continuation of the mission to heal the situation in the prosecutor's office. Secondly, it is extremely important from a moral standpoint. Firstly, it's about reinstating those who were demoted (...) This does not raise controversy among all those who know these names and their actions. The dismissal of another ten individuals from their positions as heads of regional or district units, in the case of Warsaw. These are heads of district or regional prosecutor's units, so they did not directly conduct investigations, they supervised them, they issued orders. During the times of Ziobro, Barski, and earlier Święczkowski, they served as liaisons between these politicians, individuals in the ministry, in the National Prosecutor's Office, and the field - stated Arkadiusz Myrcha in the program „Rozmowa w samo południe” (Lunchtime Conversation) on PR1.

12:51

Myrcha on PiS's Motion to the Prosecutor's Office Regarding Bodnar: An Opportunity for Us to Summarize Our First Month of Actions, and There's Plenty to Be Proud Of

- This is an opportunity for us to summarize our first month of actions, and there's plenty to be proud of. I believe PiS politicians will regret filing this motion - stated Arkadiusz Myrcha on the PR1 program „Rozmowa w samo południe” (Midday Conversation).

MKiDN:

PAP's Liquidation Registered with KRS. Overwhelming Majority of Clerks Unquestioning of Minister's Actions
The Warsaw Registry Court has entered the liquidation of Polska Agencja Prasowa S.A. into liquidation into the KRS entrepreneur register. Currently, over a dozen companies fulfilling the mission of public media, in which liquidation has been opened, are registered – the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage informed in a statement. The Minister of Culture and National Heritage, as the representative of the State Treasury, owner of 100% of the Company's shares, informs that the District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw has entered the opening of the liquidation process of PAP S.A. in liquidation into the National Court Register, also registering the liquidator, Editor Marek Błoński, who is the sole authorized body to manage the Company – it was added. The Warsaw Registry Court has, for the second time, registered the opening of liquidation for a company fulfilling the mission of public media (previously the company running "Radio dla Ciebie"). Courts across Poland have analogously registered the opening of liquidation in over a dozen companies, which confirms that the vast majority of court clerks have no doubts regarding the actions taken in this regard by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage at the general shareholders' meetings – it was noted.

13:51

Przyłębska:

Constitutional Tribunal Does Not Block Any Reforms
- The [Constitutional] Tribunal does not block any reforms, because the Tribunal does not create new regulations, it only examines whether adopted regulations, including ordinances and agreements, are in compliance with the current Constitution, because the Constitution is the supreme law in Poland. I have the impression that in today's discourse, it has been forgotten that the reference point is the Constitution - said Julia Przyłębska on Radio Wnet.

13:57

Przyłębska:

We Can Speak of a Crisis, But It's Not the Constitution That Failed, But the People with a Parliamentary Majority
- We can speak of a crisis, but not in the context that the Constitution has failed, but that people have failed. People who, at all costs, want to arrange the state in an unconstitutional manner, that's how I would call it. Those who have the instruments, who govern, who have a parliamentary majority, and thus that part of society that received a mandate and which [...] does not want to proceed legally, in accordance with the binding Constitution [...] but, one might say, quickly and decisively. This is not appropriate when we refer to democracy. [...] One cannot explain that someone somewhere did something wrong, and therefore we have the right to simply go against the binding law - said Julia Przyłębska on Radio Wnet.

14:06

Przyłębska on Gasiuk-Pihowicz: I Perceive Her Behavior as Scandalous
- I perceive [Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz's refusal to recognize the authorization of Judge Wyrembak] as scandalous behavior. [...] In the Tribunal, there are judges elected in accordance with current law, and this cannot be changed by any statement or reliance on any opinion, etc. [...] If the chairwoman of the Justice Committee questions the legality of the National Council of the Judiciary, then my question is: why does she sit on this National Council? If she questions the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court, then my question is: is she not a usurper at all, because she is the chairwoman of the committee, she is a member of parliament, and it is precisely this chamber that recognized the validity of the elections - said Julia Przyłębska on Radio Wnet.

15:56

Bodnar on Poland's Accession to the European Public Prosecutor's Office: Application Submitted to the EC, Awaiting Response
- Poland has made efforts towards joining the European Public Prosecutor's Office. This decision was announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk […], then we obtained consent from the Council of Ministers, the Senate Committee on EU Affairs […], the Sejm Committee on EU Affairs […]. Subsequently, an official application was formulated to the European Commission, and now we are awaiting a response from the EC - said Adam Bodnar at a joint press conference with European Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruța Kövesi. - This is an enhanced cooperation procedure, which means that a declaration from the government and a positive decision from the EC are sufficient for accession to the European Public Prosecutor's Office. We are not wasting our time; we are already undertaking preparatory, technical actions related to Poland becoming a part of it - he continued. - This is an important, in a way revolutionary process for the Polish prosecution service. […] I am very grateful for the goodwill in cooperation, and also for sharing your experiences - he added.

16:18

Bodnar:

Ultimately, We Aim to Have 24 European Prosecutors
- Tomorrow, as we can do that already, I will announce a competition for a European prosecutor. This will be a person, a prosecutor from Poland, who will work in Luxembourg [...] and will supervise all work conducted in a given member state. In addition to this, there will be prosecutors who [...] will be delegated European prosecutors, and these will be individuals who have the status of European prosecutors but work in the country. These will not be individuals from other member states, but rather our own prosecutors who are specialized in VAT matters, financial abuse cases [...], in order to carry out activities here in the country, as well as to cooperate with their foreign colleagues - said Adam Bodnar at a joint press conference with European Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruța Kövesi. - We assume there could be three or four [European Public Prosecutor's Office offices]. Altogether, ultimately, we aim to have 24 European prosecutors. We also do not want them to be solely in Warsaw, but also in other urban centers - he added.

16:40

Bodnar on So-Called 'Neo-Judges': We're Leaving the Resolution of Their Status for a Later Regulation
- It doesn't address all the problems [the draft amendment to the National Council of the Judiciary Act] that occur in the context of judicial appointments, it only addresses one narrow issue: namely, how to ensure that the body itself, the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS), starts operating in accordance with the Constitution, meaning that the judges who are members of the KRS are appointed by other judges, not by parliament - said Adam Bodnar at a joint press conference with European Public Prosecutor General Laura Codruța Kövesi. - We are leaving the resolution of the status of over 2,000 people who were appointed in the meantime by the KRS with its new composition for a second regulation, for later. I simply believe that this will require more work, consideration of various options, and consultation - she continued. - At this stage, our aim is to restore a constitutional body, so that we have no doubts about the functioning of the KRS, and in the second legislative stage, which will likely occur somewhere around the end of February, March, or April, we will consider how to approach the issue of those judges appointed by the KRS with its new composition - he announced.

18:38

Hennig-Kloska:

Energy Prices Won't Skyrocket, Assurance Given
- There will definitely not be a situation where these [energy] prices [after the end of the so-called price freeze] skyrocket. If we look at what the current law, which is in effect, providing to the average user in terms of price freezing for energy, it amounts to 500 PLN saved over six months. [...] We will want to protect primarily those households for whom this type of challenge is a significant burden. We are working on a solution for the second half of the year; we will probably present some initial solutions in about a quarter. [...] We want to cover the poorer segment of society or multi-person households with assistance - said Paulina Hennig-Kloska in the "Popołudniowa rozmowa" (Afternoon Conversation) on RMF FM. - It is an increasing [...] budgetary burden; we no longer have such sources for this from regulated prices on the other side, from producers, because they no longer have such excess profits as they did a year ago. On the other hand, we have to invest more and more money to ultimately resolve the problem - she continued.

18:42

Hennig-Kloska:

We Want to Establish a Transformational Fund Next Year
- Next year, we want to establish a transformational fund in the ministry, into which funds from the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), from the sale of emission allowances, will flow, and they must also be allocated to transformational purposes. We will have to accelerate the transformation process because energy produced from coal will be increasingly expensive, and energy from renewable sources, the better it balances within the system, the cheaper it will be - said Paulina Hennig-Kloska on RMF FM.

18:55

Hennig-Kloska on My Current 6.0: A Couple of Months Until Further Programs Appear
- We want to implement this program [My Current 6.0] as soon as possible, and we are also working on implementing another tranche of funds [...]. I count on being able to launch this money within approximately a few weeks. A couple of months until further programs appear, but here, of course, we also need to systemically improve the programs, because we have problems with connections and with the efficiency of, for example, photovoltaic installations - said Paulina Hennig-Kloska on RMF FM.

19:04

Hennig-Kloska on Clean Transport Zones: We are Obligated to Introduce Them in Major Cities, This is a Direction That Will Progress
- Generally, we are obligated in the largest cities to introduce clean transport zones, and this is certainly a direction that will progress. However, for it to progress, we again need to have very good public transport solutions - said Paulina Hennig-Kloska in RMF FM. - We will certainly go in a direction where prices [e.g., parking] will differentiate [...] this is an individual decision of the City Council, this is an individual decision of a given country, a given voivodeship [...]. I believe that if someone can afford a larger, more expensive car, they can pay more for a space, because they occupy more space, the justification for increasing the fee exists - she continued.

20:32

Czarzasty on the Budget: If the President Thinks He Should Send it to the Constitutional Tribunal, Let Him Send It. It Won't Change Anything

- If the President sends [the budget] to the Constitutional Tribunal, he will send it. If he doesn't send it, he won't. We are truly gaining distance, we are doing our job. If the President thinks he should send it, let him send it. It won't change anything - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

20:33

Czarzasty to PiS: You won't stop us, you won't offend us, we won't get upset, we will maintain distance

- Today, [it's impossible to agree on any matter], but one must likely be patient, one must watch and do their own work. That is to say, I want to assure President Duda and everyone from PiS associated with PiS leadership: you will not stop us in this work. You will not offend us, we will not get upset, we will maintain distance - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

20:37

Czarzasty to Kaczyński: If there's no Sejm, don't come. It's hard to come to nothing.

- I have an idea for Mr. Kaczyński. If there's no Sejm, then I have this to say to you and your formation – don't come to the Sejm. Because it's hard to come to nothing – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TVN24's "Kropka nad i" program.
