Gawkowski:

The President's Actions on Kamiński and Wąsik are Like Being Lost in Fog, or Politically Exploiting the Matter
The President, in this matter [of Kamiński and Wąsik], is behaving a bit like someone lost in fog. That is, he's presenting various versions of his future actions, but not saying anything specific. For me, the matter is clear: we have two individuals convicted by final court rulings. Previously, any actions by the President in this matter couldn't have had effect, because there was no final court conviction. They are in prison, just as anyone else would be in prison in such a situation. If the President wants to use his prerogative, he can; if he doesn't, he doesn't have to. Why he's not doing it, I don't know… Unless, in the PiS camp, the United Right, the President's side is interested in playing this matter out politically, and that's the only explanation for me – stated Krzysztof Gawkowski on RMF FM.

Kobosko on Wąsik and Kamiński: This minuet performed by the president and his advisors is increasingly incomprehensible
- If I were the president who believed that both gentlemen were crystal clear and absolutely innocent - let me be clear: I have the exact opposite opinion - but if I thought so, if I were to say about Mr. Kamiński, 'he is my friend,' I would probably do everything, and I have the tools as president to do it, to get these gentlemen out of prison - said Michał Kobosko in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24. - Frankly, this whole minuet performed by the president and his advisors is becoming increasingly incomprehensible, looking increasingly bizarre [...]. I have no idea how to comment on it - whether the president has lost his way, or his advisors have lost their way - he stated.

Nowacka on Teacher Salary Increases: "This is the First Step. Next Week in Parliament, the ZNP's Bill Linking Base Salary to the Average"
- In the Civic Coalition's manifesto, we wrote about a 1500 gross [PLN increase for teachers]. The Prime Minister is absolutely very sensitive; the teaching profession is particularly important to him, and what he said in Tarnów is also a certain plan for the future - said Barbara Nowacka in a conversation with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News' "Graffiti". - I think the Prime Minister said [about increases to the base salary] with deep conviction that this is very forward-thinking. [...] Teacher salaries are a very complicated system [...] besides the base salary, there are also bonuses calculated as a percentage of how the base salary increases. [...] This is, as we say, the first step. Next week, in Parliament, we will also be working on the citizens' bill prepared by the Polish Teachers' Union, which links the base salary to the average, so we will have to examine this very carefully to rebuild the financial dignity of the teaching profession - she continued. - What makes me laugh the most are PiS politicians who are now squealing, 'Oh dear, you're not delivering.' They gave little more than a few increases over eight years and raised salaries more than we have in our first few dozen days of governing - she added.

Gawkowski:

Cyber Defence Forces Component is One of the Elements We Have Well-Prepared

- It is important that we also develop the Cyber Defence Forces Component. This is one of the elements we have well-prepared. One of the first meetings we had with the ministry leadership was a visit to our Cyber Defence Forces Component centre. We met with General Molenda, discussing, among other things, the interpenetration of matters concerning the digital, civilian, and military spheres of the state. This also gives the feeling that both the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Digital Affairs have a great deal in common in the field of security. Especially since the context of threats from Russia, both military and cybernetic, in the military sphere will only increase, not decrease – said Krzysztof Gawkowski on RMF FM.

Gawkowski:

The Left Has Decided It's Ready to Run with Civic Coalition in Local Elections

- The Left has long declared that it is capable of running in a common bloc with opposition parties. The Third Way decided to form a bloc again, meaning the PSL will run with Szymon Hołownia's party, so last week the Left decided that it is ready for talks with PO, Civic Coalition about a joint run. Thus, building a common, two-party, two-coalition electoral committee – stated Krzysztof Gawkowski on RMF FM.

Nowacka:

First, We Propose an End to Manual Homework That Parents Usually Did
- What we are proposing, first of all, is to move away from manual homework in grades 1-3, which parents usually did. Every parent knows what a horror it was with those collages or making a bird feeder at the last minute, and it wasn't the child being graded, it was the parent - said Barbara Nowacka on Polsat News.

08:21

Nowacka:

Streamlined Curricula to Take Effect from September 1st
- Streamlining the curricula is coming into effect from September 1st, so there won't be the pressure of 'do it at home' because there will be more time to cover the material – stated Barbara Nowacka on Polsat News.

08:23

Kobosko:

PiS is escalating the conflict; the Third Way is not
- We are not changing our minds […] maintaining a very high level of tension is contrary to our national interest, our raison d'état. In a situation where there is a real war, and this needs to be repeated daily, […] Ukraine is not winning this war, I am speaking very euphemistically and diplomatically, meaning Putin's appetites are growing today – said Michał Kobosko in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24. - In such a situation, if someone is playing to weaken Poland internally, there is an obvious question: in whose interest is it? This is not the moment for us to further raise the temperature of the dispute. I believe PiS is playing this game. We are not playing it, the Third Way: Polska 2050, PSL, our alliance certainly has not been playing this game – he continued.

08:26

Nowacka:

The Days of Ministers Arbitrarily Adding or Removing Literature are Over
- I am not the one dealing with this [the list of literature to be removed]; it is being handled by experts who will prepare the list of literature and then show it to me. However, I can promise you one thing: the days of ministers arbitrarily adding or removing literature are over – said Barbara Nowacka on Polsat News.

- There will definitely be more contemporary literature, including from the 21st century, and secondly, greater freedom of choice – she continued.

08:30

Nowacka:

The President is pardoning Wąsik because Kamiński feels unwell. I completely don't understand this.
- The president once promised to be tough, but currently I have the impression that he is so erratic in his decisions that he no longer knows whether he pardoned or didn't pardon, what the chairman tells him, what his advisors suggest, he has introduced such a mess. Besides, it's a very fascinating story. He is pardoning Wąsik because Kamiński feels unwell. I completely don't understand this - said Barbara Nowacka on Polsat News.

08:30

Kobosko:

We've decided to move forward as Third Way, and that name will be on the ballot on April 7th
- We are now hearing about talks that Lewica wants to have with PO regarding a joint start [in local elections]. We don't know if PO also wants to have them with Lewica. But we have decided to move forward as Third Way, and on April 7th, that name will be on the ballot - said Michał Kobosko in the "Piasecki's Interview" on TVN24.

08:34

Nowacka:

One Religion Class is One of the Discussed Solutions
- There is no draft [regarding changes to religion classes in schools] yet, and for example, we are also discussing in the ministry what draft will be proposed. What you are talking about is a proposal that will allow us to implement another concrete promise, namely religion on the first or last lesson, which was very difficult with two hours. One lesson is one of those solutions that are being discussed today - said Barbara Nowacka in Polsat News.

08:35

Kobosko:

Hołownia Would Be the Best Presidential Candidate on Our Side, for the Entire Coalition
- Personally, I believe he [Szymon Hołownia] would be the best candidate [for president] on our side… I would hope for that; it would be the best scenario [if he received the support of the entire coalition]. We don't yet know who PiS will put forward in these elections, Szymon Hołownia openly says he wants to run – said Michał Kobosko in the "Piasecki's Conversation" program on TVN24.

09:04

Bartoszewski:

We Don't Yet Have a Division of Labor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Currently, we do not yet have a division of tasks within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I would like to point out that the last two deputy ministers were appointed last Friday. For some time, the only person working in the ministry besides Minister Sikorski was myself. Consequently, we had to manage everything as a two-person team, which is not simple – stated Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski in the "Morning Conversation" program on RMF FM.

09:06

Bartoszewski:

President Duda Can Immediately Pardon Wąsik and Kamiński If He Wishes

- Both gentlemen [Wąsik and Kamiński] were convicted by a final court ruling for an official offense, for falsifying documents, for falsifying signatures, for provocations. The category of political prisoners is very strictly defined in jurisprudence, and Messrs. Wąsik and Kamiński do not meet this definition in any way. This is the opinion of the majority of lawyers. President Andrzej Duda, if he wishes, can pardon them immediately - stated Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski in the RMF FM program "Morning Conversation".

09:31

Wieczorek:

Kaczyński Will Call Duda and Say - Sign This Pardon After All, and That's That

- And ultimately, President Kaczyński will likely make the decision. Yes, he'll probably call the palace and quickly tell the President: sign this pardon after all, and that's that. They say they don't talk, but I am surprised by the President's behavior. First thing – you, Mr. Editor, will probably confirm this – pardoning innocent people is not in line with procedures and the law - stated Dariusz Wieczorek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Radio Zet.

09:53

Wieczorek:

National Council on February 3rd, Decision on Election Participation

- For now, it's fifty-fifty, although there's not much time left. I think the decisions must ultimately be made by the end of January. We have the National Council convened for February 3rd, and there will be a decision then on whether we run in a coalition electoral committee or on our own - stated Dariusz Wieczorek on Radio Zet.

Czarnek:

President Considers Confirming 2015 Pardon with Another Act of Grace, No Other Choice, State of Higher Necessity Exists
- Nothing has changed in the sense that Messrs. Wąsik and Kamiński were pardoned in 2015. No one in Poland has the right, because there are no such provisions, to question this prerogative of the head of state. Therefore, nothing has changed here. Just as the situation has not changed where the President is clearly in a state of higher necessity, because the gentlemen are illegally imprisoned, moreover, they are on a hunger strike, their health is deteriorating day by day. Seeing this, the President, also wanting to bring peace, is considering the possibility of confirming the 2015 pardon with another act of grace. There is no other choice; there is a state of higher necessity - said Przemysław Czarnek in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on the program "Sedno Sprawy" on Radio Plus. - A prerogative is a prerogative. However, in this procedure, the President is waiting for the position of Minister Bodnar. If that position is on the desk today or tomorrow, then nothing prevents the President from concluding this with such a pardon - he continued. - Exactly [if that doesn't happen, the President can refer to the 2015 procedure] and confirm his 2015 right of pardon, because no one with a sound mind and at least a minimal understanding of constitutional law questions the right of pardon that the President applied in 2015 - he went on to say.

Czarnek on Teacher Salary Increases: Tusk Shouted About 1500 PLN for Base Salary. These Figures Are Hundreds of Zlotys Lower
- No [the promise is not fulfilled], because in September Mr. Donald Tusk was shouting that it would be 1500 PLN added to the base salary [...] these figures are several hundred zlotys lower than 1500 PLN to the base salary, which does not change the fact that there are increases, and it is very good that there are, which does not change the fact that we have worked out more than half of these increases, also by including them in the draft budget law - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Plus.

10:30

Tusk in Kyiv: Nothing is More Important Than Support for Ukraine

- We must unequivocally confirm, and we will do so, full, mutual support from both sides in confronting evil. There is nothing more important than supporting Ukraine in its war effort against the Russian aggression, and this is issue number 1. We also have many bilateral matters to discuss, including interests; there are certain conflicts of interest, we know this well, and we will talk about them, but in the spirit of not only friendship, which is obvious, but with the intention of resolving these problems as quickly as possible, not of maintaining or multiplying them. But for me, it is very important to build a sense that Poland is the most reliable, the most stable ally of Ukraine in this mortal clash with evil - stated Donald Tusk in Kyiv.

10:34

Czarnek on Homework Ban: A Step in the Wrong Direction for Grades 4-8, Full Agreement for Grades 1-3
- There is no mandate for assigning homework; it's a matter for the teacher and how they implement the curriculum. Therefore, introducing an across-the-board ban on assigning homework seems like a step in the wrong direction to me. I'm talking about grades 4-8; for grades 1-3, there's full agreement. [...] There's nothing wrong with parents working with their children on their educational development; indeed, this can be introduced in grades 1-3. In grades 4-8, I repeat, there's a lot of fuss. First, it was that homework is being abolished, which is a complete surprise, because where will students read assigned literature – at school, on the windowsill? And where will they prepare for tests or exams? Also, only at school? - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Plus. - Such a ban is absolutely unreadable; for now, there's fog. [...] Yesterday I heard that the ban is supposed to apply exclusively to written homework, meaning that oral homework can be assigned? And what difference does that make to the students? So, it seems to me that this is, as the young people say, a bit of a sham in all of this; we'll see what comes of it. [...] We assign a student to read some literature, and then what? We don't ask if they've read it, we don't assess whether they've read it, or what they understood from it? This means we are completely lowering the standard of education. A lack of expectations for students is, in reality, the end of school. Students, in addition to rights, also have obligations; they have an obligation to learn. If someone wanted to assign the reading of literature and then not question students about it or assess whether they read it or not, then everyone would be at the same level – both those who read it and those who didn't - he continued.

10:51

Czarnek:

Konfederacja is in coalition with Civic Platform. We decided to show this in the vote to dismiss Bosak
- There was no protest, there was full agreement with Chairman Mariusz Błaszczak's diagnosis of how Konfederacja behaves, which Mr. Bosak also confirmed yesterday on "Rymanowski's Breakfast", they are focused on attacking Law and Justice, not evaluating the Civic Platform government. Anyway, it became evident in the vote, Konfederacja is in a coalition with Civic Platform today, because Civic Platform's abstention saved Mr. Bosak's position. There was only a discussion in our club as to whether we should vote in favor or not participate in the vote at all, and the latter option prevailed [...]. We ultimately decided not to participate in this farce, but to show that there is a coalition between Konfederacja and Civic Platform, because if Civic Platform had voted for the dismissal of Krzysztof Bosak, he would have been dismissed, and Civic Platform decided to save him. Not by our hands, we did not participate in this farce - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Plus.

Ministry of Culture: Only a Final Court Ruling Could Effectively Challenge the Legality of the Polish Radio Liquidation Process
Today's (January 22, 2024) entry by court registrar Karolina Ilczuk in the National Court Register, refusing to disclose the commencement of the liquidation of Polish Radio S.A., has no legal effect that would change the company's status or its authorities. Polish Radio S.A. remains in liquidation based on the resolution of the company's General Shareholders' Meeting (WZA) of December 27, 2023, at which the State Treasury, holding 100% of the shares in the share capital, was lawfully represented by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The company has neither a management board nor a president, as during the liquidation process, according to the Commercial Companies Code, management functions are performed by a liquidator. The liquidator of the company is Mr. Paweł Majcher, appointed by the aforementioned WZA resolution – emphasized the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in a statement.

"I would like to clarify that only a legally binding (i.e., final, after exhausting all appeals) ruling from a commercial court annulling the WZA resolution of December 27, 2023, could effectively challenge the legality of the initiated liquidation process of Polish Radio S.A. in liquidation and the appointment of the liquidator, who continues to legally fulfill their function. The same applies analogously to the effectiveness of the appointment by the WZA of a new Supervisory Board of Polish Radio S.A. in liquidation (composed of: Olga Sztejnert-Roszak, Tomasz Kapliński, and Jakub Bartosiak).

An entry in the National Court Register is declarative (not constitutive) – it is information for participants in economic turnover that specific data has been entered into the register of entrepreneurs. An entry in the register does not create rights or the status of bodies, e.g., the right to sit on the company's management bodies. It only has an informational value. It is also important that as soon as Polish Radio S.A. in liquidation files a complaint against today's action by the court registrar (the entry in the register), which will likely happen immediately, the made entry loses all force until the complaint is considered by the court, and subsequently – in the event of a possible appeal – by the appellate court.

Nowacka:

No Party Nominations, We're "De-Blackening" Schools

- As we announced, the 30% and 33% raises for beginner teachers are already being implemented from the moment the president signs the act, and we conclude the consultations, which are also underway. Teachers will simply feel the improvement. The money will come with the appropriate back pay from January 1st, and these will be definitely noticeable raises - stated Barbara Nowacka at a press conference.

- Across Poland, all political appointees have been removed from the role of curators. Competitions are now beginning for individuals who will be permanent curators, while those currently serving as curators are experts, non-political, appreciated by the community, and intimately familiar with the school system, individuals who will improve its functioning. Lublin is one of those places where the competition will start soon, and I also hope that simply the best person will win. There will be no party nominations; we are truly "de-blackening" the school, and it's important for this message to resonate in Lublin as well - she added.

Sienkiewicz:

Under the Law, Current Liquidators Are Legal

- Eleven courts have registered the liquidation of state media companies, and one court in Warsaw refused. Is it because the head of this court was appointed by Judge Plebiak from Ziobro's camp? I don't know that, but I do know that under the law, the current liquidators are legal - Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz wrote on Twitter.

12:58

Tusk:

It Would Be Good for All Political Leaders to Understand That the Fate of the Free World is Being Decided in Ukraine

- All of Ukraine and you, Mr. President, are truly fighting for the security of the entire free world. I repeat this wherever I am in the world, and it is not a slogan. It would be good for all political leaders, all nations in the world to understand that these are not just empty words, that here, in Ukraine, the fate of the free world is being decided. This is the defense of Ukraine, its independence, its territorial integrity against the Russian aggressor. Yes, this is the most important thing here for the Ukrainian nation, obviously - stated Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:02

Tusk:

No One in Poland Doubts That Ukraine Must Be Supported With All Available Means, as the Security of the Polish Nation is Also at Stake
- On one matter, there is no doubt in Poland: Ukraine must be supported with all available means in its fight against Russia, because the security of the Polish nation and the Polish state is also at stake in this fight. When we say, and today I declared to Mr. President, that Poland will continue to do everything in our power to increase Ukraine's chances of victory in this war, we do so for moral reasons, but also keeping in mind our own interest, the most fundamental one, the security of the Polish state and the Polish nation - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Kyiv.

13:11

Tusk:

The Coming Months and Years Will Be a Military and Logistical Challenge for the Entire Free World
The coming months and years will be a military and logistical challenge for the entire free world. It cannot be the case, because then we will all lose, that Russia will demonstrate superiority when it comes to armaments and ammunition - stated Donald Tusk at a press conference.

13:17

Tusk:

We Achieved Mutual Understanding on the Border Situation
- We achieved mutual understanding regarding the situation at the border. It is very important to me that the President and ministers decided today to confirm the best possible will to jointly solve problems concerning, this issue of "grain" [...] which is an oversimplification, and also the blockades on our border for transporters, that these two matters will certainly find good solutions and that within our bilateral talks. We will primarily seek practical solutions in conversations between us, and perhaps international institutions will not be needed for this; it is sometimes easier for friends to find solutions to such problems - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Kyiv.

13:28

Tusk:

Government to Appoint Paweł Kowal as Commissioner for Ukraine's Reconstruction
- In my delegation is Mr. Paweł Kowal, whom the government will appoint as commissioner for the reconstruction of Ukraine - Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in Kyiv.

13:49

Ministry of Culture: TVP Remains in Liquidation Based on General Shareholders' Meeting Resolution

- Today's (January 22, 2024) entry by judicial registrar Tomasz Kosub in the National Court Register, refusing to disclose the opening of TVP's liquidation, does not result in any change to the Company's status or its authorities. Telewizja Polska S.A. remains in liquidation based on the resolution of the Company's General Shareholders' Meeting (WZA). Mr. Daniel Gorgosz, appointed by the same WZA resolution, is the liquidator of the Company - the Ministry of Culture informed in a statement.

- Only a potential legally binding judgment from a commercial court annulling the WZA resolution could effectively challenge the legality of the initiated liquidation process of the Company and the appointment of the liquidator, who continues to serve in his capacity under the law. The same applies analogously to the effectiveness of the appointment by the WZA of the new Supervisory Board of Telewizja Polska S.A. in liquidation (composed of: Piotr Zemła, Maciej Taborowski, and Anisa Gnacikowska) - it was stated.

13:58

Błaszczak:

We Demand a Minimum PLN 1500 Increase to Base Salaries for Teachers
Teachers are one of the professional groups that were exploited by the December 13th coalition in their election campaign. Last year's, but they were exploited earlier as well. Teachers trusted the December 13th coalition and this is how they were treated. We are dealing with cynicism, hypocrisy, and deception. We demand that their demands be met. We are, of course, speaking about our stance, the stance of PiS. We have always fulfilled our commitments; credibility is undoubtedly our asset. In the case of the December 13th coalition, they say one thing and then do the complete opposite. Therefore, we demand that the increase to the base salary be a minimum of PLN 1500 – stated Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference. Tusk promised a minimum of PLN 1500 [to teachers], but what did he give? Three times less. We demand through social pressure, by generating social pressure, that this commitment be fulfilled – he added.

13:59

Błaszczak:

The Minister of Justice Now Bears Responsibility for the Consequences of the December 13th Coalition's Actions

- We must remember that the December 13th coalition does not respect the prerogatives of the President of the Republic. Because President Andrzej Duda pardoned both gentlemen in 2015, and if we look at the legal textbooks from that period, there is a clear statement that the president can carry out an act of pardon at any stage (…). Therefore, the Minister of Justice now bears responsibility for the consequences of the December 13th coalition's actions. Let's look at how judgments were issued under Article 231 [of the Penal Code], how people ended up in prison, and for what. So, they didn't end up there for fighting corruption. Here we are dealing with the revenge of the deep state. With the revenge of those who opposed the fight against corruption – said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference.

14:08

Tusk:

We Will Find a Way for Europe to Clearly Support Ukraine, With or Without Orban

- Today we can say without hesitation, Russia is no better than the Soviet Union in its most aggressive imperial era. One might even say that in some aspects, Putin's Russia is more dangerous and cruel than the Soviet Union. It would therefore seem that people like Viktor Orban, precisely because they remember those times, should stand resolutely by our side and do everything to support Ukraine - stated Donald Tusk during a meeting with students in Kyiv.

- I want to tell you that we will find a way in Europe, and we are currently working on it, for Europe to clearly support Ukraine, with or without Orban, both in the process of Ukraine's integration with the EU and in direct, immediate aid - he continued.

16:25

Sienkiewicz:

Today's Lack of Registration Has No Impact on Companies' Operations

- Today's lack of registration has no impact whatsoever on the functioning of these companies. The moment an objection or appeal is filed against this registrar's decision, nothing changes. Legally, the status of the companies remains the same, and they operate normally as they would at any other time. This means that the liquidators are still liquidators, they continue to act in care of the entrusted assets and property, buildings, and oversee the implementation of correct decisions within these companies - stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz during a press statement.

16:27

Sienkiewicz:

I am convinced this entire story will end well; there are very strong legal arguments for our appeal.

- The case is peculiar in that 11 registrars across the country have issued fundamentally different rulings, registering companies into the National Court Register (KRS). Here, we are dealing with two refusals, and what's more, in the Warsaw court, which has already registered one company, Radio dla Ciebie. There is no legal difference between regional joint-stock companies and TVP joint-stock company, between Polish Radio SA and a radio company from Koszalin. They are exactly the same type of company. So one could say – 11:2. But that's not the point. I am convinced that this whole story will end well; there are very strong legal arguments in favor of our appeal, and I have no fear whatsoever regarding its outcome – stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz during a statement to the media.

16:38

Sienkiewicz:

This is not just a legal dispute over who controls television. It's a dispute over the essence of public life in Poland

- This is not just a legal dispute over who controls television. It's a dispute over the essence of public life in Poland. Should a political party possess media tools through which it lies, incites hatred, destroys public life, and effectively leads to a Polish-Polish war? Do such media even have the right to exist in a democratic country? In my deepest conviction, absolutely not. Hence my decision to place these companies into liquidation. I hope that through the restructuring and rehabilitation of these companies, a completely different effect can be achieved than what we observed over the last 8 years - stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz during a press statement.

16:41

Sienkiewicz:

Liquidation Has Not Been Reversed

- The liquidation has not been reversed. The liquidator will perform their duties until the verdict. Nothing will change in these companies, and it will continue this way - stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz during a media statement.

17:08

Shmyhal:

Prime Minister Tusk Announced New Military Aid Package, Will Strengthen Our Defense Production Cooperation

- Ukraine is currently the shield of all of Europe, a shield against Russian imperialism, barbarism, authoritarianism, and the security of all European states depends on how strong this shield will be. And our Polish friends have always understood this, which is why Poland has been among the leaders in military aid to Ukraine since the first days of the war. We are very grateful for this help and support, and we expect that the new government of Poland will give a new impetus in this direction – stated the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at a press conference.

- Today, the Prime Minister of Poland announced the transfer of a new military aid package; Mr. Prime Minister, thank you for that. This will allow us to further strengthen our cooperation in the area of defense production, and will also support our army and bring us closer to regaining the territorial integrity of our state – he continued.

17:09

Shmyhal on the Polish-Ukrainian Border Situation: We Believe This Issue Has Been Resolved, the Border is Unblocked

- Today, we also discussed many matters of bilateral cooperation with the Prime Minister, and it is important that this cooperation exists and should remain mutually beneficial. This is, of course, a matter of unimpeded movement of our goods across the border. We believe that at present, this issue has already been resolved, the border is unblocked, and joint work is yielding results. For our part, we have committed to preventing damage and to supporting Polish carriers and farmers. We also count on Poland taking steps from its side to eliminate restrictions for Ukrainian producers and farmers – stated the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, at a press conference.

- We also expect the EU to extend measures towards liberalizing trade and transport with Ukraine, and for our part, we also inform that bills are already being processed in the Ukrainian parliament, which will also ensure compliance with the requirements foreseen by EU procedures – he added.

17:37

Tusk:

On the most important issue, which is Ukraine's war for independence, but also in defense of our values and our security, we have a unified opinion

- What was a priority for me was to find a language where both sides understand what they are truly after. What is common ground, where does a conflict of interests arise, and how to resolve such a conflict. On the most important issue, which is the war, which is Ukraine's war for independence and integrity, but also Ukraine's war with Russia in defense of our values, of all of Europe. This includes Polish security. On this matter, there is no discussion; we have a unified opinion here – stated Donald Tusk at a press conference in Kyiv.

17:41

Tusk:

I received with satisfaction the information that laws are already prepared in the Ukrainian parliament that will equalize Polish and Ukrainian carriers' standards

- In these specific matters that aroused so much emotion. So, the interests of Polish carriers, the situation at the border, related to the blockade in recent weeks – this was the subject of our very concrete discussion. The suspension of the blockade on one hand, and the actions of the Ukrainian side in terms of facilitating passage for Polish carriers returning from Ukraine, have led to a very clear improvement in the situation at the border itself; there are no longer these dramatic queues – Donald Tusk said at a press conference in Kyiv.

- I also received with great satisfaction today the information that laws are already prepared that will equalize, in terms of standards, European, Polish carriers, and Ukrainian carriers – he added.

17:42

Tusk:

We Will Invest Our Resources and Energy in Energy Cooperation with Ukraine, I Am Convinced We Will Achieve Quick Results

- Energy cooperation is completely free of any controversies, and we will invest in it, our energy, our joint resources, and we will certainly achieve very quick results here. The information that the Ukrainian side is interested in the presence of Polish companies, and on the basis of concessions, when it comes to the highway connecting the Polish border at Krakowiec all the way to Równe in the future, with the Lviv bypass. This is indeed very exciting information that Polish firms, Polish investors could be involved, not only involved in the construction of the highway, but also in being co-hosts of this project – stated Donald Tusk at a press conference in Kyiv.

A Safer Path for Public Media Changes Existed – Dismissing Czabański from the National Media Council
- There was a safer path. This probably won't surprise anyone, as we at Razem have spoken about it many times, but perhaps the legally safer path was simply to dismiss Mr. Czabański from the National Media Council. There were grounds for this, and there still are, related to Chairman Czabański's relationship with Telewizja Republika, which appears to be incompatible with the Act on the National Media Council – said Adrian Zandberg in an interview with Grzegorz Sroczyński on RMF FM.

Zandberg:

Sienkiewicz Chose a Legally Riskier Path at His Own Responsibility
- Minister Sienkiewicz, at his own responsibility, chose a different path [of changes in public media], which, as many experts stated at the time, was decidedly more legally risky - said Adrian Zandberg in the "Afternoon Conversation" on RMF FM. - This is obviously not yet a legally binding decision [of the KRS]. I think we will all be wiser regarding how common courts view this situation when this legal path is completed. No, I don't think it will take as long [as 3-5 years], but the fact is, it will still take some time - he continued.

Fogiel:

We Must Highlight the Sad Fact That for the First Time Since 1989, We Have Political Prisoners
We must highlight the sad fact that for the first time since 1989, we have political prisoners. Returning to Minister Szejna's words, of course, the issue of combating negative phenomena such as nationalism or antisemitism will find an ally in me. I believe that all negative behaviors should be combated, whether it's anti-Israeli or anti-Palestinian nationalism, or any other – stated Radosław Fogiel in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

NIK Report Shows Sasin Was Interested in Quickly Selling Off National Assets to Saudi Arabian Colleagues
- What, for me, is the quintessence of the Supreme Audit Office report is that Mr. Minister Sasin... wasn't interested in it. Let's set aside for a moment how much Polish assets cost, because here, as in any matter, one will say "it cost this much," another will say "it cost differently." However, the Supreme Audit Office report shows that Minister Sasin wasn't interested in that. He was simply interested, and forgive me for using a colloquialism, in quickly peddling our national assets to his colleagues from Saudi Arabia - said Michał Kamiński in an interview with Diana Rudnik on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach."

19:58

Szejna:

MP Fogiel Represents a Group That Shouts Loudly But Achieves Little

- We will not agree with Radosław Fogiel on this matter, as the MP represents a group that shouts loudly but achieves little. After 8 years of shouting at Germany, not a single euro of reparations has flowed to Poland - stated Andrzej Szejna during the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:59

Kamiński:

Buying Oil from Saudi Arabia is one thing, Selling a Refinery in Poland to Saudi Arabia is Another
- Let's not mix two things. Delivering crude oil from Saudi Arabia is one thing. I don't know any opposition politician, or any politician in Poland for that matter, who would say that we shouldn't buy oil from Saudi Arabia. Frankly, I haven't heard such voices. However, buying oil from Saudi Arabia, let's be clear, is one thing, and selling a refinery in Poland to Saudi Arabia is another [...] 30%, but with actual control - said Michał Kamiński on TVN24.

Szejna:

It's Hard to Handle International Relations Worse Than the Morawiecki and Kaczyński Team Did

- It's hard to handle international relations worse than the team of Prime Minister Morawiecki and Chairman Kaczyński did. Such emotional swings from enthusiasm, the handover of several hundred tanks and other equipment, and an open heart that Poles, not PiS, showed, to a sudden attack on Ukraine at the end of the campaign, because they failed to negotiate good economic cooperation terms for Poland. You simply cannot conduct foreign policy any worse - stated Andrzej Szejna in the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:05

Kamiński:

For some reason, the deal with Hungary and Saudi Arabia was politically more important than anything else
- The basic accusation found in this document [the NIK report] concerns the fact that the minister, meaning the government, in short, Mateusz Morawiecki's government, did not look after Polish interests in this specific matter, because the Supreme Audit Office was investigating this specific matter. And I, and here I agree, this is my opinion, did so because, for some reason, the deal with Hungary and the deal with Saudi Arabia were politically more important than anything else - said Michał Kamiński on TVN24.

Szejna:

Prime Minister Tusk's Visit to Kyiv Today Carries a Significant Dose of Assertiveness

- Today's visit by Prime Minister Donald Tusk [to Kyiv] is a visit marked by a significant dose of assertiveness. Regarding security, Prime Minister Donald Tusk made it clear that Poland's vital interest is Ukraine's victory. In economic matters, he announced that we will be assertive. This means we may sometimes refuse something, decisively, without humiliating anyone, but at the same time, we are capable of understanding our partner's situation. We are capable of putting ourselves in their shoes – stated Andrzej Szejna on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

20:13

Kamiński:

The President Says One Thing, Then His Closest Aide Says It Won't Happen
- A reverse situation could occur, meaning the minister might say something, and the president would say, "The minister has gotten ahead of himself." That's also not elegant, but it at least has logic. [...] The president says what he says, and then someone who is his closest political associate says that it won't happen - said Michał Kamiński on TVN24, referring to the potential re-pardon of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, and the statements by Andrzej Duda and Marcin Mastalerek on the matter.

20:19

Kamiński:

Kaczyński Has No Plan, Everyone Does What They Want, Duda Snapped Off Like a Balloon
- Everyone believed that Kaczyński had things so organized, that he had a plan. Some were mortally afraid of it, others believed in it. The last few weeks show that Kaczyński has absolutely no plan, everyone does what they want, and Duda, deprived of any political leadership, also does what he wants and, in short, has snapped off. But President Duda hasn't snapped off politically, in the sense that he has started to be independent, but rather he has snapped off like a balloon that simply breaks free and flies wherever it wants - said Michał Kamiński on TVN24.

20:21

Kierwiński:

We are dealing with a cynical political game, or the President knows something about Kamiński and Wąsik he doesn't want to share with the public

- Who is the president in this arrangement? Is it President Duda or the Vice-President, as some joke, Mastalerek? It's evident that the relations within the Presidential Chancellery are somehow strange. But in this matter, everything is clear. If the President wanted to pardon both gentlemen, he would have done so long ago. For some reason, he doesn't want to. So, either we are dealing with such a cynical political game, or the President knows something about the case of these gentlemen, possibly something he doesn't want to share with the public - stated Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Joanna Dunikowska-Paź on TVP Info.

20:34

Kierwiński:

I'm Calmly Awaiting the Overall Audit Results

- I am calmly awaiting the overall results of this audit. Because if this audit is to provide general conclusions on how the police, led by Mr. Szymczyk, and the ministry, led by Messrs. Kamiński and Wąsik, functioned, then this audit must be conducted reliably - stated Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

20:48

Kierwiński:

I Have Full Trust in Sienkiewicz's Decisions

- Yes, I have full trust in these decisions [of Minister Sienkiewicz] because I know they are in accordance with the law. Every owner has the right, as stipulated directly by regulations, to place a company they own into liquidation, and here TVP or Polish Radio, as commercial companies, are not subject to different regulations - stated Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

20:52

Kierwiński:

The justice system is filled with political appointees who still long for PiS's rule and are making reckless decisions

- In my personal opinion, we are dealing with a situation where the justice system has many political appointees who still long for that PiS rule, and they are making various imprudent decisions. But fortunately, there are courts. Minister Sienkiewicz has declared that this matter will be appealed to the court, and it will be the court that decides whether this refusal to register was a proper action on the part of the registrar - stated Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

20:54

Kierwiński:

The Most Likely Scenario Appears to Be Two Electoral Blocs

- I have always been a proponent of a broad front grouping all pro-democratic formations. However, in these [local government] elections, the most likely scenario appears to be two electoral blocs. That is, on one side, Trzecia Droga, PSL, Mr. Hołownia's party, and on the other side, KO, meaning my political formation, likely in cooperation with Lewica - stated Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

Nowacka:

The Real Shortage in Polish Schools is a Lack of Teachers Willing to Enter the Profession. We Must Encourage Them

- Stories and legends have accumulated, and I understand that some fully qualified teachers believe this is an inappropriate equalization with beginning teachers. However, we as a state, we have this obligation, must encourage people to come to work as teachers, otherwise those just starting out simply won't want to come to work – stated Barbara Nowacka in the program "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

- The real shortage in Polish schools is a lack of teachers willing to enter the profession. We must encourage them – she continued.

20:55

Nowacka:

PiS members lowered the prestige of the teaching profession with their 2019 hate campaign. We immediately shut down that hate.

- PiS members talking about the well-being of teachers are as laughable as PiS members talking about the good of teachers. They are as laughable as PiS members talking about the standards of the state, about the fight against corruption, or about the rule of law; they simply stole, cheated, lied. What caused so many people to feel disgusted being teachers. They felt very bad in this profession, which lowered the dignity of teachers, was the hate campaign conducted by PiS in 2019. We immediately shut down that hate – said Barbara Nowacka on TVN24.
