– I have decided to veto the budget-related act for 2024, which included 3 billion PLN for public media. There can be no consent to this in the face of gross violations of the Constitution and the principles of a democratic state of law. Public media must first be repaired reliably and legally – wrote President Andrzej Duda on Twitter.

– At the same time, I inform you that after the holidays, I will immediately submit my own project to the Sejm, concerning, among other things, salary increases for teachers and other expenses planned in the budget-related act. In connection with the above, I call upon the Marshal of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, and the Marshal of the Senate, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, to urgently convene sessions of both chambers to consider and adopt the project this year – the president stressed.

– The attempt to finance public media through the budget-related act (by the parliamentary majority) is impossible to accept in the current situation. In my draft law, all other budget expenditures – led by salary increases for teachers – will be maintained – added PAD.
