The prime minister is always responsible. It is the prime minister who grants consent for special services to sign international cooperation agreements. I have instructed the Minister of Agriculture to prepare a comprehensive scheme for compensation for the losses that have occurred for farmers. The Polish state is acting. We have no influence, of course, on weather conditions, nor on what Russia will do with Ukraine, what further crisis it will provoke. However, where we do have influence – the blockade of Ukrainian grain to avoid destabilizing the Polish market, we are acting. He allowed himself to make a statement or insinuation that because 3 million refugees from Ukraine have arrived in Europe, we must now adopt the solutions being pushed by the EC. Training, practical exercises in cybersecurity and IT, and the exchange of experience and expert knowledge – KGHM has signed a letter of intent on cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence, represented by the Command of the Cyber Defence Forces. The specialized division of the copper company, the Central Information Processing Centre (COPI), will coordinate these activities.

Cybersecurity is a crucial area of operation for enterprises vital to national economies, as well as for public administration, medical services, police, and the military. KGHM, as a mining and smelting company operating in several cities in Poland and possessing foreign assets on several continents, has an extensive IT infrastructure that ensures operational continuity and, among other things, the safety of employees both underground and on the surface, requiring the company to provide round-the-clock protection.

– In the national cybersecurity system, the Polish Army is a key element in terms of actions and projects responsible for cyber defence. Cooperation in this field offers KGHM an opportunity to strengthen a system capable of counteracting contemporary threats in cyberspace and beyond. We anticipate close cooperation between our specialists and military experts – said Tomasz Zdzikot, CEO of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

– Cooperation in the field of cybersecurity is crucial in combating increasingly advanced cyberattacks. Organizations, government institutions, corporations, and services must exchange information about threats and best practices to effectively defend themselves against cyberattacks. I am convinced that our cooperation will bring tangible benefits to both parties and contribute to building a cyber-secure future – added Karol Molenda, Major General, Commander of the Cyber Defence Forces Component.

The aim of the letter of intent is primarily the cooperation between the Ministry of National Defence and KGHM to enhance the level of cybersecurity in the Republic of Poland. The parties will exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of cybersecurity. Promotional activities on this topic and joint security-related projects are planned.

The parties also intend to organize joint training sessions on incident response and conduct analyses related to cybersecurity activities.

The Cyber Defence Forces are a specialized component of the armed forces responsible for ensuring security in the so-called operational domain, which, alongside water, land, air, and outer space, is also cyberspace. The Cyber Defence Forces have the capabilities to carry out a full spectrum of operations – from defensive and reconnaissance to offensive ones. Within the Ministry of National Defence, DKWOC is responsible for areas related to cryptography, cybersecurity, and the construction and operation of IT systems.

The key tasks of the Cyber Defence Forces include ensuring the IT security of the entire ministry, conducting research, designing, building, implementing, using, and protecting national cryptographic technologies, and developing new products for the state by integrating scientific and industrial potential in the field of advanced information and cryptographic technologies. The Command of the Cyber Defence Forces also engages in scientific-educational, implementation, research and development, and advisory activities.

Since 2022, KGHM has been organizing a cyber range for companies in the energy sector and the mining industry. The workshops serve to prepare teams from individual firms and companies for threats in cyberspace. Scenarios of attacks are prepared for participants, requiring swift actions and critical decision-making for the respective organizations. The training provides an opportunity to leverage experience and learn new solutions.

In turn, KGHM's division, the Central Information Processing Centre, runs the educational program "Digital Future of Copper," focused on topics related to digitalization, cybersecurity, and the development of modern technologies. The project is aimed at post-secondary school students: technical schools with IT-focused classes and general high schools with STEM tracks – future potential students of IT programs. Eight schools from the Copper Belt and the Lubusz Voivodeship have already declared their willingness to cooperate with KGHM.

- The disposal of this waste and the reclamation of this area, restoring this part of Zgierz to its residents, could cost billions. The hope was very specific because a significant portion of these funds was guaranteed in the KPO, in funds that PiS blocked. They should have been put to work many, many months ago, because this is our Polish money, it was granted on quite a good scale, precisely for securing this area - stated Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

We will, of course, be submitting information about the highly inappropriate behavior of aggressive and uncultured people who are posing as journalists to the relevant institutions. This is not the first time, but what happened here today has crossed all possible boundaries. I hear Prime Minister Morawiecki saying he will fight pedophilia in Poland. I remind you that I am directing these words primarily to TVP Info, because you have now returned and started discussions, and I think it will be very interesting for your television to convey information to all your viewers that in Poland, following the scandal revealed in the film about pedophilia among representatives of the Polish clergy. You remember that loud film, there was a debate, there were serious emotions, and it was decided to establish a state commission for the prevention and fight against pedophilia, and PiS established this commission - stated Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

- You know that this commission took no action beyond its headquarters, perhaps using a company car. After some time, the head of this commission, appointed by PiS, said that he was actually no longer interested in fighting pedophilia. They have done absolutely nothing to date. We have two very disturbing scandals: the one spoken about in the Sekielski brothers' film, i.e., pedophilia in the church, and what has heated up the internet in recent hours, i.e., pedophilia online in relationships between very young people and the environment of very popular YouTubers. Both of these had to be revealed by journalists; you [TVP journalists] were not there - he continued.

- Morawiecki himself and Jarosław Kaczyński personally are responsible for the Polish state doing nothing in this matter, despite so many instances of impunity and brazenness of pedophiles. The commission turned out to be a fiction, we still don't hear of anyone being seriously held accountable, and the fact that the entire internet is buzzing today and not only that, and people are receiving this news with disbelief (...). If Morawiecki had truly thought about the victims of pedophilia for even a moment, there would be no need to wait for Wardęga or Sekielski. That is what the state and this commission are for. They should exist to protect our children from pedophilia, and Morawiecki only deals with it at press conferences. I consider his statement a scandalous demonstration of helplessness and indifference, in reality, towards the fate of pedophilia victims in Poland - he added.

- I have no doubt that PiS and Jarosław Kaczyński personally have grown very accustomed to state-owned companies being used to mercilessly milk them in order to fill their own pockets, but also to, for example, use state-owned companies in campaigns. This is on a scale completely unprecedented in Europe; I want you to be aware of this – it poisons our public life in Poland just as much as those dangerous waste products in Zgierz – stated Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

- Unemployment skyrocketed under our predecessors, now job creation is soaring. Never in Poland's history have so many people been employed simultaneously, exceeding 17 million people. The number of jobs created and the unemployment rate, according to the latest EC data, are among the absolute lowest in the EU - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Melvit company.

The Monetary Policy Council has decided to lower NBP interest rates by 0.25 percentage points. The main reference rate has fallen to the level of 5.75%.

On October 1st, the European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM) launched for the 11th time. This year's campaign, organized by ENISA at the initiative of the European Commission, focuses on threats that utilize social engineering.

It is at the initiative of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) that October is designated as a cybersecurity month every year. During this month, particular emphasis is placed on disseminating knowledge, increasing awareness, and exchanging best practices in cybersecurity among all internet users, including professionals, educators, and those involved in child and youth prevention. It also presents an excellent opportunity for collaboration with various organizations and partners. The Polish edition of the ECSM campaign has been coordinated from the outset by the NASK National Research Institute.

This year's edition of the European Cybersecurity Month focuses on issues related to social engineering (socjotechnika), which refers to the broad use by criminals of various manipulation techniques employed in phishing campaigns targeting internet users.

What is social engineering in the context of online fraud?

Social engineering is employed when an individual is manipulated into taking specific actions or revealing confidential information. Criminals exploit this information to defraud their victims and steal their money. Social engineering attacks can be carried out using various methods, such as email, instant messaging, phone calls, or in-person contact. To attract the attention of potential victims, fraudsters use numerous false messages, such as notifications about unpaid invoices, the need for additional payment for a package, winning a contest, or information that a computer has been infected.

The idea behind the ECSM campaign is for companies, institutions, and other entities to submit cybersecurity initiatives aimed at raising awareness and competence in this area. The campaign is non-commercial, and participation in its initiatives is free of charge. Examples of such initiatives include webinars, conferences, actions to improve cybersecurity skills among clients and employees, and thematic classes in schools. Participating in the campaign is a great way to expand your own knowledge and that of others about cyber threats – at home, at work, or at school. Education is the best prevention!

Polish farmers, the ordinary farmers and other residents, because nowadays more people live in the countryside who are not involved in agriculture, who do not make a living from agriculture, than those who are and live from it. But everyone is somehow connected to agriculture, because everyone has family ties, present and past, so agriculture remains the most important thing for the countryside. No, they represent those who, to put it very mildly, in the complicated 1990s, and one could also date it to the late 1980s, enriched themselves in various ways, privatized various things, and today they own them, and today they very often use their property to play games based on the principle: we will lower the price, and the state will pay. Not from their own pockets, because the state has no money of its own, it has the money of its citizens – he continued.
