The Political Week Ahead: Sejm Debates Referendum, Senate Pact Announced, August 15th Parade, Morawiecki and Tusk Hit the Road, Leftist Convention

The government's adoption of referendum questions, followed by the Sejm's vote on the motion, will likely be one of the more significant political events.

The beginning of the week will be dominated by events related to the Polish Army Day celebrations, chief among them a military parade.

The opposition is set to finally announce the so-called Senate pact, and both the incumbent Prime Minister and the opposition leader will return to traveling the country. Additionally, a convention of The Left will take place over the weekend.

Sejm on the Referendum. On Monday – as announced by Prime Minister Morawiecki – the government will adopt the full wording of all referendum questions. The Sejm will address the motion at this week's session. The consideration of this point and the vote are scheduled for Thursday.

Military Picnics. On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński will participate in the "Strong White and Red" military picnic in Uniejów, and Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek will attend the opening of a military picnic in Złotoryja.

August 15th Parade. On Monday and Tuesday, celebrations will be held to mark Polish Army Day – the most important event will be Tuesday's "Strong White and Red" parade. "It will be a beautiful day, a beautiful event, a beautiful commemoration of a great anniversary of our nation, and above all, of our army. It is Polish Army Day," said Jarosław Kaczyński.

Visit of the President of Latvia. On Wednesday, the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics, will pay a working visit to Poland. It is known that a meeting with President Duda is planned, but the exact schedule of the visit has not yet been published.

Senate Pact. "This coming Thursday, we will sign the Senate pact. We are ready to present our list of candidates for the Senate […] The signing of the pact will become a reality this coming Thursday in Warsaw," said Robert Biedroń at a press conference in Gdańsk.

Morawiecki on the Road. As we hear from the Prime Minister's associates, on Friday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has a planned meeting in Gorlice in the Małopolska Voivodeship.

Tusk Also on the Road. In the coming week, the opposition leader will continue his tour of the country. On Friday, an open meeting with Donald Tusk will be held in Włocławek.

The Left's Convention. During Saturday's convention, leaders of The Left will present their program assumptions for the election campaign and the plan with which The Left is going into the elections. Representatives of the parliamentary club will summarize four years of presence in the Sejm and their political achievements of the last term. The convention will be held in Warsaw.
