Companies from the KGHM Capital Group have signed an agreement on strategic cooperation with companies from the PGZ Capital Group. The agreement defines possible areas of joint activities, including the implementation of research and development, production, and commercial projects. The ammunition and missile sector has been indicated as a priority area.

The declaration of cooperation between the copper giant and PGZ is a response to the current geopolitical situation and the dynamics of order fulfillment in the defense sector, including the establishment of the government program "National Ammunition Reserve." The signatories of the agreement are KGHM and PGZ S.A., as leaders of their respective Capital Groups. Cooperation will take place between subsidiary companies whose activities demonstrate such potential.

– KGHM is one of the pillars of the country's raw material security. We produce copper and metals that are crucial in energy and electronics, and also find applications in the defense industry. Cooperation with PGZ – the leader of the Polish defense sector, opens new opportunities for synergy in our activities and will enable closer cooperation also between companies belonging to our capital groups – said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

Copper produced by KGHM is a strategic raw material of the future, used, among others, in solutions enabling the energy transformation. The red metal also determines raw material independence and security. Copper can be found in wires, electrical installations, and electronics, and is also used in the defense industry, including for the production of ammunition jackets. KGHM is among the world's leading producers of non-ferrous metals, is the eighth largest copper producer globally, and the second largest silver producer.

– One of the important domains of our group is the ammunition domain, which has gained particular significance in the face of the war in Ukraine. We have already increased our production capacity in this area, but thanks to cooperation with KGHM, we have a chance for further production growth. I am glad that both our capital groups will cooperate for Poland's security during such a critical period – emphasized the President of the Management Board of PGZ S.A. Sebastian Chwałek.

The parties to the agreement from the KGHM Group are the companies: KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Centrozłom Wrocław S.A., Walcownia Metali Nieżelaznych „ŁABĘDY” S.A., KGHM Metraco S.A., NITROERG S.A., and KGHM ZANAM S.A. On the side of GK PGZ, these are the companies: Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A., Mesko S.A., Zakłady Metalowe „DEZAMET” S.A., Zakład Produkcji Specjalnej GAMRAT sp. z o.o., Zakłady Chemiczne Nitro-Chem S.A., Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne BELMA S.A.

The most significant political event of this week will be the announcement of the parliamentary elections – the president may do so at the beginning of the week. Furthermore, Andrzej Duda, in the presence of the prime minister, will sign the 800+ bill – one of the ruling party's flagship promises. Donald Tusk and Szymon Hołownia will return to the pre-campaign trail, and President Duda will travel to Korea.

Signing of the 800+ Bill. On Monday in Tarczyn, President Andrzej Duda – in the presence of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Marlena Maląg – will sign the amendment to the act on state aid for raising children, which provides for the indexation of 500+ to 800+.

Possible Election Announcement. It is possible that in the coming week, President Andrzej Duda will officially announce the date of the parliamentary elections – leaders of Trzecia Droga (Third Way) stated over the weekend that this will happen on Monday with 99% certainty. Formally, the head of state has until next Monday, August 14, to do so.

Announcement of the Senate Pact. As announced, the Senate pact is to be declared immediately after the election announcement – Szymon Hołownia announced this over the weekend. – You will probably learn everything at the moment the Senate pact is announced, and as Władek said, the president will probably announce the elections on Monday, so you can probably expect the Senate pact to be announced this week, because we agreed preliminarily that this announcement would take place immediately after the president's act – he added.

Another Tusk Rally. The opposition leader will continue his tour across the country in the coming week. On Tuesday, a rally by PO (Civic Platform) chairman Donald Tusk will be held in Legionowo.

Hołownia on Tour. Two open meetings with the chairman of Polski 2050 (Poland 2050) Szymon Hołownia will take place in the coming week – on Wednesday in Słupsk and on Thursday in Białystok.

Duda in Korea. On Wednesday, President Andrzej Duda will begin a working visit to the Republic of Korea. The exact schedule of the visit has not yet been published.
