Tomasz Kobierski: Poznań's Trade Fair to Become a Business City
Grupa MTP, the owner of the Poznań International Fair, has launched an investment offensive, planning to spend over half a billion Polish złoty in the next three years. Not only will the trade fair grounds be transformed, but other city facilities such as the Arena Hall and the restaurant in the picturesque Sołacki Park will also undergo modernization. In the coming years, the grounds of the Poznań International Fair will undergo a significant transformation. Among the main changes awaiting exhibitors and visitors, Grupa MTP announces greater integration of the trade fair grounds with the city, a new urban square, more green spaces, additional office buildings, and a hotel. Event Square with Underground Parking The construction of an event square with a three-level underground parking facility for 650 cars is currently underway. This parking area will be equipped with, among other features, charging stations for electric vehicles. The entrance will be located on Głogowska Street, at the height of the PKP railway station. The investment is expected to be completed by mid-2022. The square will be surrounded by restaurants and cafes, and the space itself is intended to be freely accessible to residents. Grupa MTP already has plans for another underground parking facility. "We plan to build another underground parking lot for approximately 1,000 cars under the central square on our grounds in the coming years. This will allow us to create space for over 1,600 vehicles in total, which will fully meet our needs," explains Tomasz Kobierski, President of the Management Board of Grupa MTP. Pavilion, Office Buildings, Hotel, and Congress Center Reimagined The modernization of the Poznań Congress Center is currently underway. The building will feature a modern kinetic facade, which uses thousands of small moving tiles to react to the wind. Additionally, the exterior of the facility will be enhanced with light illuminations and an LED screen. According to the plan, this investment should be completed by mid-2022. Further modernization work awaits Pavilion No. 4, which was built in the 1950s. However, this is not the end of the investment plans for the trade fair grounds. "In the near future, we plan to build a hotel. We are aware of our clients' needs. Participants of events organized here must have the possibility to easily move from the congress hall to their hotel rooms. We are considering the trade fair grounds holistically," explained the President of Grupa MTP. In addition to the hotel, the Poznań International Fair grounds are set to be enriched with, among other things, two modern office buildings. Construction is also happening beyond MTP's grounds One of the landmarks of the capital of Wielkopolska will also undergo a change. Grupa MTP manages the Arena Hall, which will be thoroughly modernized. "We will transform this facility into one of the most modern in Europe. Up to 9,000 people will be able to participate in events held there. We plan to select a contractor in January," adds Tomasz Kobierski. Another project involves the modernization of the former Meridian restaurant in the picturesque Sołacki Park. According to the plans, on weekends, the restaurant, under its new name Port Sołacz, will be a place for relaxation and meetings for families and residents of Poznań, while during the week, banquets and business events will be organized for trade fair exhibitors and congress participants held at the Poznań International Fair.
