A Computing Cloud Looms Over the Energy Sector, Promising Transformation. 300Gospodarki Conversations at Impact’21

The guest of Emilia Derewienko in this episode was Tomasz Niebylski, ATU Lead – Utilities, Telco, Manufacturing at Microsoft.

He spoke about how the energy transformation influences technological changes and the creation of innovation within companies.

"The energy transformation must happen, and it must happen now. The fundamental question is how to do it. This requires money and technology,” Niebylski said.

In his opinion, the transformation drives new technologies, and this includes not only renewable energy sources but also intelligent energy management and a multitude of other solutions. According to him, "to support this entire new ecosystem, unlimited computing power is needed, and on the other hand, algorithms and tools that will allow them to function. The computing cloud serves as the chassis for this.”

How Can the Computing Cloud Ensure Security for the Energy Sector?
As Niebylski pointed out, it is worth looking at this issue from the perspective of cybersecurity. In his opinion, in a reality full of hacker attacks, technology companies like Microsoft have the intellectual background to propose effective solutions to such problems.

"Energy companies operate in a certain isolation. If the production from photovoltaics (..) increases by one or two orders of magnitude soon, it will be unmanageable from the perspective of an energy company. Managing it will require solutions like the computing cloud,” he said.

A School in Ghana, Monuments in Poland: Omenaa Mensah's Multi-Industry Endeavors Across Two Continents. 300Gospodarka Interviews at Impact'21

In this episode, Emilia Derewienko hosts Omenaa Mensah, a television presenter, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

Our editor asked her if any of the many projects she is involved in is the most important to her. Omenaa Mensah admitted that while she is primarily known to the wider public for her work in the media, she herself believes that the vast majority of her activity involves running several companies she founded. The 300Gospodarka interviewee operates in several industries, mainly related to clothing and design.

However, the project to which she has devoted the most attention in recent years is the charitable foundation she established. As part of its activities, the construction of a school in Ghana, which will allow children from disadvantaged backgrounds to receive an education, has just been completed.

Omenaa Mensah also spoke about her latest project, which she is implementing with her film production company. Through extensive research and digitization of historical materials, the film being created aims to illustrate in an innovative way the importance of monument conservation in our culture.

How does our interviewee manage to successfully combine so many diverse spheres? "The key to success is people and building a team that can bring a project to completion" she told us in a conversation at Impact’21.

Omenaa Mensah also revealed how she convinced her daughter to study medicine and how, thanks to these experiences, she is able to better help the beneficiaries of the foundation she runs.
