Over 200,000 small and medium-sized Polish entrepreneurs have benefited from the "E-business vs. lockdown" program, implemented by the Impact Foundation and the Mastercard Centre for Inclusive Growth. The program aimed to accelerate the development of Polish e-commerce and assist small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in their digital transformation in the face of the COVID-19 crisis.
The "E-business vs. lockdown" project commenced in March of this year, made possible by a grant of $200,000 (approximately PLN 750,000) awarded to the Impact Foundation by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth. Within its framework, entrepreneurs gained access to experts, a knowledge base, and useful tools related to providing services in the e-commerce sector.
The Polish SME sector enthusiastically embraced the project:
20 entrepreneurs were selected to participate in the acceleration program. Each company received individual expert support and consultation on tools helpful for building and developing an e-shop, as well as effective online promotion – two areas particularly crucial for entrepreneurs taking their first steps in e-commerce. The practical aspects of this support can be observed in the examples of companies Little John and Ecobobo.
Over 2,000 entrepreneurs participated in 12 webinars that thoroughly discussed rapidly changing trends, legal regulations, and technological solutions related to digital business.
Over 200,000 entrepreneurs utilized the substantive materials and recorded webinars published on the portals 300Gospodarka.pl and money.pl, as well as on the project platform Impactebusiness.com, which remains accessible. This platform offers video training conducted by leading e-commerce practitioners and expert articles.
At Mastercard, we recognize that the pandemic has heavily impacted small and medium-sized enterprises, especially those that previously operated exclusively in brick-and-mortar settings. The changes that have occurred over the past year have presented significant challenges for them, and we wanted to be a partner in the digital transformation of their businesses. One that not only advises on how to leverage new opportunities but also provides concrete solutions for implementation – says Bartosz Ciołkowski, General Manager for Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia at Mastercard Europe.
