The last weekend of June saw an internal referendum within the SLD concerning the party's strategy for the autumn parliamentary elections. Voters had two options to choose from: 1. I support the Democratic Left Alliance's participation in the parliamentary elections in agreement with other pro-democratic political parties. 2. I support the Democratic Left Alliance's independent participation in the parliamentary elections. The referendum results will be announced at 10:00.

At 12:00, President Andrzej Duda will participate in the Advisory Congress at the Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology.

Exactly 450 years ago, during the deliberations of the Crown Sejm in Lublin, the Act of the Union of Lublin was signed, uniting Poland and Lithuania.

- I think it would be a very bad scenario for the EU [Frans Timmermans at the head of the European Commission]. Four large countries, specifically Germany, France, Spain, and the Netherlands – the Netherlands, by force of circumstance, because he is a compatriot, albeit from a different political camp – however, it seems that a politician who harshly attacked not only Poland, but also Hungary, Romania, Czechia, and Slovakia, would not be a candidate who would unify - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

„Robert Biedroń has hit reality, and such a collision often leads to sobering up. Robert Biedroń already knows he will achieve nothing alone and would like to join a coalition that has a chance. If Biedroń were to run independently today, meaning he did what he promised for months, even crossing 3% would be a problem” – said European Parliament member of the European Coalition, Leszek Miller, in an interview with Dominika Wielowieyska on Radio TOK FM's morning program.

“The leadership of the SLD has a free hand [when it comes to choosing a coalition partner]. As far as I'm concerned, the number 1 priority is creating a coalition reflecting the European alliance, meaning the European Coalition, perhaps modified in some way, i.e., with the participation of PO. Regardless of what is said about Grzegorz Schetyna and the European Coalition, that this formation lost, but please note that today on the political scene in Poland there is no other formation that can engage in an equal fight with the United Right” - said MEP of the European Coalition Leszek Miller in an interview with Dominika Wielowieyska on TOK FM Radio's 'Poranek' (Morning Show).

She [Frans Timmermans' candidacy] also faces resistance, for example, within the European People's Party, so as you can see, it's not just a matter of the PiS government, but even the opposition in Poland is also skeptical – stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". This candidacy [Timmermans'], as it seems, has been blocked – emphasized the PiS MEP.

- We have very bad experiences with Mr. Frans Timmermans. He is unkind to Poland, unkind to the Law and Justice government. He doesn't understand these interests, he doesn't understand the situation of post-communist countries. He is somewhat detached from reality, so there was a blockade from our side – said Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Graffiti".

- This is an unacceptable candidacy [for Frans Timmermans], not just for us. It is also unacceptable for many countries in our region, and for Italy. As you can see, this is a candidacy that evokes strong emotions, and the head of the EC must be someone who unites, who seeks common ground, not what divides - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- During the submission of amendments, I did not hear that they went beyond the scope of the amendment to the Penal Code. However, the President's main reservations concern non-code-like procedure, not the provisions of the Penal Code itself. - I think that Prime Minister Szydło, now being one of the main figures of our campaign, the head of the campaign council, has a chance to be the godmother of victory [in the elections] for the third time - he continued.

The name has appeared, however, according to my knowledge, Prime Minister Szydło will not run for this position. The topic simply does not exist. She is the head of the election campaign council for PiS, with the hope that for the third time she will contribute to PiS's victory. You will see, in the coming days, that I think Prime Minister Szydło will indeed receive her due place in European structures."

„The European Coalition was a leftist bloc, not to say radical left. This is evidenced by their achievements and the ideas introduced by their politicians. The Polish People's Party (PSL) was part of it, and the PSL shared these views. An example of such radical left views is the activity of the Mayor of Warsaw and the introduction of programs concerning LGBT into schools. This is the corruption of children. The PSL agreed to all of this” – said Minister Mariusz Błaszczak on Radio Jedynka.

- Everything is still in play, of course, but I represent a party that has rather stable views on this matter [the format for running in elections]. We assessed the EP elections positively. We believe that a 7% gap with the European Coalition project, which was only three months old, is a difference that is not only bridgeable but can lead to victory. I've always said that, I've held that opinion, and I still do. If at 10 PM I'm informed of the results and they head in that direction, I will continue to hold this opinion. And if they go in a different direction, then of course my opinion will be whatever the party wishes. Personally, I think [the European Coalition] is a good project. I believe we need to focus on eliminating its shortcomings, rather than dividing the spoils and looking for mistakes. - We expect the President of the European Commission to be someone who guarantees the easing of disputes, the seeking of compromises, and not the imposition of one's own opinion. There is even a lack of hope here. Frans Timmermans has shown himself to be an extremely confrontational politician - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Polish Radio Trójka's "Political Salon".

- The Constitutional Tribunal, considering the gravity of this matter and certain public expectations, can of course likely reach a decision relatively quickly. However, it would also be absolutely inappropriate for me to indicate to the tribunal or the President of the Constitutional Tribunal how to proceed in this case - said Jacek Sasin in a conversation with Beata Michniewicz on the "Political Salon" program on Trójka radio.

- Regarding the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), we currently have ready candidate lists for three potential scenarios. We have lists for a broad coalition, which I personally support, a broad coalition without the Polish People's Party (PSL) if our colleagues decide against it, and a left-wing bloc. This is what responsibility entails. We have secured the necessary funds, and the program team had its next meeting yesterday. We will be ready with our program postulates within two weeks. Our lists are ready because we have finished consulting on the lists for both the Sejm and the Senate - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty on PR1's "Sygnały dnia".

- Yes, we are planning for it in next year's budget; such assumptions have now been adopted. We are planning this "thirteenth" pension for retirees next year as well. We are speaking very clearly. If PiS wins and governs in the next term, this "thirteenth" pension mechanism will become a statutory and annual mechanism - said Jacek Sasin in a conversation with Beata Michniewicz on Polskie Radio Trójka's "Political Salon".

- 13,129 people participated in the vote, which constitutes 63% of the total. 10,880 people voted in favor of the Democratic Left Alliance starting in a coalition, which is 83%. 2,218 people, representing 17% of all voters, voted for a standalone start - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty during a press conference.

- We are ready, after consultations with the regional leaders in individual voivodeships, for three starting scenarios. A start to which we have been invited, a broad opposition, a broad opposition without the PSL, and a broad left-wing variant. We are ready with personnel to field 900 people on the lists - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty during a press conference.

„We have set ourselves the goal for the coming weeks that for PiS, for our activists and candidates, there are no holidays. But this does not mean that we will bother Poles, the public, with excessive activity that is ineffective. We can all draw conclusions from how Poles reacted to over-dressed politicians who appeared on promenades, on beaches, bothering Poles during their holidays with some ideas more or less detached from reality” - said PiS MEP and party campaign manager Joachim Brudziński during a press breakfast with journalists. „Today, the most important task is the Katowice convention, then the substantive, expert branch will sit down to ensure that we go to the elections with a concrete programmatic proposal. Work will be finalized with a program” - he added. Brudziński also said that the comprehensive program will be ready before the official announcement of the elections, most likely by the end of July.

The European Council summit, dedicated to the division of key positions within the EU's top institutions, has been suspended until tomorrow. Discussions are ongoing to reach an agreement on who will fill the roles of President of the European Commission, President of the European Council, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and President of the Eurogroup. The process has been complex, with various political groups and member states vying for influence and specific portfolios. Further negotiations are expected to continue throughout the night and into the following day to finalize these crucial appointments.

“In politics, it happens that sometimes one makes compromises, including in international politics. PiS, the PiS government, Prime Minister Morawiecki today are very consistently implementing our strategy of presence in the European Union, regardless of what various media or representatives of different parties blather. We want to be in the European Union. We consider Poland's presence in the EU to be an incredibly valuable and precious thing, but this does not mean that we should meekly accept everything that representatives of the so-called old Union try to impose in relation to Central and Eastern European countries” - said PiS MEP Joachim Brudziński in an interview with journalists in the Sejm.

“I have heard many times how much esteem, and not just because of General Maczek's soldiers, Mr. Frans Timmermans holds for Poland” - he added - “As a representative of the ruling camp, I have not waged any war with Mr. Timmermans. Dispute is the essence of democracy. When Mr. Timmermans argues with his own government's head, because we've heard that the Prime Minister of the Dutch government was not at all enthusiastic about Mr. Timmermans' candidacy, but that's how the world is arranged. Dispute is the essence of democracy. I suppose Adam Michnik and Jarosław Kurski also argue at Czerska, in the editorial office of Gazeta Wyborcza”. 

“Our view is that we must choose people who can build compromises, because the European Parliament elections showed that Europe is much more divided than before. This means that every subsequent election and decision must be managed skillfully, must skillfully take into account the interests of as many member states as possible. Our stance during this summit, during the dozens of conversations I had in the corridors and during the plenary sessions, was primarily about selecting candidates who offer the greatest possible guarantee of seeking compromises, of building bridges between individual states” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Brussels.

“The original proposal that was put forward here does not meet such a criterion. We believe that these should be candidates who are acceptable to the vast majority of member states, not only in connection with the procedure, but one must consider how many and which countries support a given candidacy. In the case of Mr. Timmermans' candidacy, the Visegrad countries were decidedly against it, but Italy and at least several other European countries also shared our view, agreeing with us, even if they did not express it so directly and unequivocally. However, one could feel in the room the atmosphere of people who wanted to reach some kind of candidate selection, but on the other hand, there was concern that this new opening should be associated with new ideas and people” – he added. 

„Tomorrow morning, we continue. I am convinced that this reflection has reached many leaders after this long night and morning debate, that we must try harder to work out compromises. A new Europe needs new faces that are not associated with attacking others. They are not associated with and do not try to seek out problems, but rather try to build bridges between states” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Brussels.

- Robert, I'm telling you honestly. 59 years of life are speaking to you right now, meaning me. You can't keep changing your mind. You can't say you'll give up your mandate and then not give it up. You can't say you're leading a transparent financial policy and not give documents to Watchdog. You can't say you're the guarantor of this land, because with two blocks, it will be bad until the end of time, and you're fighting for a third block, because people simply don't understand that. I know this because SLD spouted such nonsense, told such tall tales about what they would do for the Polish left if they came to power, that when they did come to power and didn't do it, they got it in the [expletive] so badly that I'm outside of the Sejm - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on TOK FM's "Political Interview".

- Władek, you could have fielded Prime Minister Pawlak in Rzeszów and I think you would have had a fourth representative. This is a matter of negotiation, we had the same starting conditions - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on TOK FM's "Political Interview".

- One thing is certain. A clear opposition to Frans Timmermans' candidacy for President of the European Commission was heard in the European Council. Opponents are primarily pointing out that the new head of the EC should have greater skills in building unity within the European Union - said Konrad Szymański in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

- Poland's position at the top, thanks to the efforts and unbelievable dedication of Prime Minister Morawiecki, is very strong. If it weren't so, the summit would have ended long ago - said Konrad Szymański in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program 'Wydarzenia i Opinie' (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

- This stubbornness [against Frans Timmermans' candidacy for the position of President of the European Commission] is necessary, and it is needed not only for Poland but for the entire EU. What is the essence of what is happening in Brussels? It is not just a matter of answering the question of who will take the position we are discussing. It is an answer to the question of what the EU will be like in this term. Will it be an EU where stronger countries impose their will on the remaining members of the community, or a union of consensus and dialogue – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i opinie" on Polsat News.

- It is worth fighting for the EU to be a union of partner countries, and what Prime Minister Morawiecki has been doing for the last several dozen hours is precisely an effort to ensure that all EU members feel comfortable within it and have a sense of being treated as partners – emphasized the Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

We respect Mr. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz's choices. Today is Monday. He says one thing today, he might say another tomorrow. - There isn't a "rubber-stamped" list yet, as you colloquially put it, but the first proposals from the constituencies have indeed arrived because the deadline was the end of June. The Speaker of the Senate is also very advanced in talks with the party authorities regarding Senate candidates, but these are all decisions of statutory bodies - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i opinie” (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

- The only decisions regarding anyone running on the lists are made by the Political Committee and the leader of our political formation. "I bring joyful news. The enormous information campaign, directed through voivodes and all ministers to local governments, was successful. We managed to unite the cooperation of everyone: banks, ZUS (Social Insurance Institution), and Empatia (the platform). We were at the command center at midnight, counting down the last seconds, and it was a fantastic feeling as the number of submitted applications via the Internet began to tick up. In the first 30 minutes, there were 6,000 applications. After 9 AM, it was 100,000, and at 2 PM, over 400,000. By 7 PM, we have approximately 700,000 applications, of which over 400,000 concern the 500+ program. We have also registered the first payments, so there are already families who are enjoying money in their accounts," said Minister Bożena Borys-Szopa in an interview with Danuta Holecka on "Gość Wiadomości" on TVP Info.

“This is an investment. It is not a benefit, an allowance, it is not - as the opposition says - a handout. It is an investment in family. Even if someone today doesn't need this money for clothes, for shoes, they will use it for their child and guarantee them perhaps extra lessons, a language, additional activities. We consider this an investment. And I recommend Mr. Grzegorz Schetyna have more meetings with people, and he will hear what we hear, because I haven't encountered a single critical voice regarding this program yet,” said Minister Bożena Borys-Szopa in a conversation with Danuta Holecka on "Gość Wiadomości" on TVP Info.

- Frans Timmermans isn't our kind of guy, let's be honest. He's Chancellor Merkel's kind of guy. Mr. Frans Timmermans is certainly not our kind of guy. Difficult talks are underway, it's evident there's no consensus, no qualified majority, and proposals for secret ballots are appearing on the table. We would want someone who unites everyone. Timmermans has some phobia regarding Poland and even Central and Eastern Europe. He built his position on this. If a CJEU ruling consistent with the Advocate General's opinion comes about, chaos will ensue across Europe. We hold the position that matters of judicial organization fall under the purview of Member States. I would wish Mr. Timmermans would address the ruling concerning the German prosecutor's office with similar energy – said Michał Wójcik, Deputy Minister of Justice, on Kropka nad I.

- I'm returning to business, but for now I am a Member of Parliament. I declared that I will not be running in the upcoming elections. This is because concerning fundamental laws like 500+, the 13th pension, and the entire Kaczyński's 'five' [referring to the 'Five Stars' social program], I was one of the few MPs who voted against them. I believe the narrative in Polish politics and discourse has fundamentally changed, and there's a conviction that whoever promises more will win. I believe this is dangerous. I don't want to participate in a race towards populism, and that's my decision to step away, because I don't want to contribute to it. I see no possibility for any joint action within a coalition when its main proposition is an anti-PiS slogan and supporting PiS's program by voting for exactly what PiS proposes in the Sejm - stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

- We are for citizens having trust in the state, and the programs that have been enacted are to be maintained. However, all subsequent social programs must be geared towards work and development. - I will emphasize: I handed over Nowoczesna at the level of 9% [support in polls].
