Siemoniak on Hołownia's Remarks About a Coup d'état:
One Must Choose the Right Words for the Right Situations.
– This is an issue that leaders should discuss among themselves. It is difficult for me to comment on this, because certainly the later explanations by Marshal Hołownia indicate that there was no question of someone urging him to stage a coup d'état – stated Tomasz Siemoniak on TOK FM, when asked about Hołownia's statement regarding an alleged coup d'état.
He corrected himself on what he said. And when he recounted that Prime Minister Tusk asked, “Gentlemen, what are we doing?”, which is something that perhaps everyone can ask, “What are we doing?”, yes. There were a lot of emotions regarding the vote count and electoral irregularities, and it's difficult to expect coalition leaders not to discuss this topic. It seems to me that this entire thread is somehow extremely unfortunate – he continued.
We must not forget that the prosecutor's office also dealt with this matter and investigated that there were irregularities, yes, but they did not affect the final result. Exactly. And I think the Prime Minister acted in an appropriate manner, that the relevant state service dealt with it, investigated the matter, and when it conveyed the outcome of its actions, the Prime Minister responded to this topic in that way.[…] We live in times of very low responsibility for words, and a lie travels around the globe much faster than the truth or a correction – emphasized Minister Siemoniak.
I spoke with Marshal Szymon Hołownia after the elections, and I did not refer in any way to the issue of counting, persuading, convening, or not convening. So, if any politician was there and tried to persuade him to do so, let them say so, yes. However, if one can say that Professor Zoll was persuading someone to stage a coup d'état, or proposing a certain, perhaps controversial, but still legal path, yes. […] Tanks, planes, soldiers entering parliament. That is a coup d'état. So, one must choose the right words for the right situations. And I think everyone is learning from this situation – he summarized.
