Friday marks the last day of the 32nd Sejm session. Voting will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 10:30 AM. During this block, a vote will be held on, among other things, the government's draft changes to the health contribution. MPs are also to adopt a draft resolution commemorating the victims on the 15th anniversary of the Smoleńsk catastrophe. The session is scheduled to conclude at 3:15 PM.

At 11:00 AM, a press conference will be held in Warsaw by PiS MEP Patryk Jaki and MP Bartosz Kownacki.

At 12:00 PM, a press conference will take place in the Sejm by the chairman of the PiS parliamentary club, Mariusz Błaszczak, and MP Zbigniew Kuźmiuk.

On Friday, the Mayor of Warsaw and Civic Coalition presidential candidate, Rafał Trzaskowski, continues his tour of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. A press conference will be held by him in Włoszczowa at 1:00 PM, and at 4:30 PM, he will meet with the residents of Końskie.

On Friday, the Marshal of the Sejm and Poland 2050 presidential candidate, Szymon Hołownia, will visit the Pomeranian Voivodeship. A press briefing will be held by him in Gdańsk at 12:30 PM. A meeting is planned for him in Kościerzyna at 4:00 PM, and at 6:30 PM, Hołownia will meet with the residents of Żukowo.

– Giertych enters, spouts some stories about a family tree, about being related to someone, what kind of circus is this anyway – said Radosław Fogiel in the program “24 pytania w PR24” (24 Questions on PR24), referring to the scuffle in the Sejm.

– Well, he heard [that he is a murderer], perhaps he will rethink his actions – he continued.

– For Poland, for Polish business, [tariffs imposed by the USA] could be a problem, we would prefer it not to be this way – said Radosław Fogiel on PR24.

– I will ask what was done to avoid these tariffs, because, for example, we know that Great Britain has been negotiating very intensively in recent days – he continued.

– So far, we have not received any information from the government that would allow us to make this decision responsibly. We know that this proposal strips the National Health Fund of nearly another 5 billion zlotys, 4.7 billion […] we haven't been able to get information on where the government intends to get this money from – Radosław Fogiel said on PR24, when asked about the vote on the health contribution.

– I believe that we cannot be complicit in reducing the money for healthcare […] we will see what our representatives in the health committee say, whether they managed to obtain any information, although I […] must say that one should approach this in a balanced way – he continued.

– I am not against, for example, a small entrepreneur, a symbolic lady running a hair salon, not paying as large a health contribution as an entrepreneur earning tens of thousands of zlotys per month, but on the other hand, I also internally rebel against the concept where said entrepreneur earning tens of thousands per month would pay a smaller health contribution than their employee working on a minimum or average wage – he went on to say.

– I think there is no other way to resolve this matter today than the first stage, a discussion at the EU level. After all, we have a common policy in this area, and these are issues that are not only national but also EU-level matters. A common stance must be developed here, and then we can sit down at the negotiating table. I see no other way at this moment – stated Małgorzata Paprocka in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

– The President has several times in public statements and interviews stated which candidate he feels closest to, in terms of his view on the state from a values perspective. The President has consistently always pointed to President Karol Nawrocki – stated Małgorzata Paprocka on Radio Zet.

– I am very happy that [Anna W.] was released from pre-trial detention, because, it must be said clearly, it was pre-trial detention. It had no other purpose than to force her to give testimony according to the prosecutor's expectations – said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

– I am very glad that the pressure turned out to be effective, […] both media and political, and I thank everyone who got involved in this, because all of this happened at the expense of a sick child. The current authorities are truly crossing all boundaries – he assessed.

– I am always in favor of clarifying any doubts, of thoroughly investigating every case. However, this should be done in a civilized manner, so that people can defend themselves, and not so that any doubts are used for political warfare. I believe in the personal integrity of Director Anna, and I am very happy that she has regained her freedom, can be with her children, and will be able to defend her good name – he stated.

– Indeed, in line with the President's declarations, the palace doors are open. The only question is whether there is a willingness to meet from the other side. At this moment, I do not have such knowledge. Rafał Trzaskowski attended some ceremony, I don't remember which one right now, he was hosted at the Palace, but I don't think he would seek such a meeting – stated Małgorzata Paprocka on Radio Zet.

– I fear this is preparation for solutions that were applied in Romania or France, aimed at eliminating opposition candidates from the electoral race. […] Until recently, Donald Tusk downplayed such matters altogether – Michał Dworczyk said on Polsat News' "Graffiti," when asked about the cyberattack on the Civic Platform's IT system and the Prime Minister's comments.

– This isn't a single statement from Donald Tusk, but rather a series of statements from PO politicians who say there will certainly be an attempt to interfere with the elections. The validity of the elections is being questioned. There are references to alleged real or imagined foreign influences, building an atmosphere of uncertainty – he assessed.

In his opinion: – All of this indicates that, following the example of the countries I mentioned, we could also see a questioning of the election results here – in the event of an unfavorable outcome for the PO candidate, which is highly probable. The current government has in recent months proven that it will stop at nothing to destroy political opponents.

– We have a gigantic problem in this area [of the arms industry]. For 12 years, we've had the Polish Armaments Group, consolidating all state-owned arms companies. Most of these companies are in a terrible state, and those with expertise, those with modern technologies, like Huta Stalowa Wola or Mesko, are being stifled and lack sufficient orders – stated Michał Dworczyk in “Graffiti” on Polsat News.

– You ruled for 8 years – observed Marcin Fijołek.

– Yes, and here I can sprinkle my head with ashes. I believe it wasn't a good time for the arms industry, I'm talking about the defense industry. Many good things happened, contracts worth billions of zlotys were signed, and during that time we also had the largest post-1989 foreign contract for Huta Stalowa Wola. All of that was good – replied the PiS MP.

However, he admitted: – There were also very many bad events that took place, and we must speak honestly about it. Moreover, today one of the fundamental problems in Poland, in my opinion, when we talk about the defense industry, is the failure to utilize the competencies and potential that lie within private companies.

– The government is manipulating numbers. There are three possible modes for pushing migrants out of Germany into Poland: full readmission, simplified readmission, and border return. The first two require the submission of documentation and the consent of the Polish side. The third requires neither of these things – wrote Krzysztof Bosak on social media.

– Since the establishment of German controls on the border with Poland, Germany has begun to transition from the first two, more complex modes, to mainly this third, simpler mode. As a result, the number of readmissions has decreased, and in its place, a much larger number of returns has appeared, which did not exist before (because there were no border controls) – emphasized one of the Confederation leaders.

– The manipulation by the government and coalition MPs is a classic 'pars pro toto' tactic, meaning they cite selective data while ignoring the overall picture – he added.

– This response must take into account the interests of the European Union, in the sense of member states, trade interests. Here, I believe, there can be no personal sentiments. We must protect our own industries, our own jobs, however, we must remember that the United States is a friend, an ally, a guarantor of security, also for Poland, also for Europe, and one must look at all aspects here. It's always easy to quarrel, much harder to reconcile in such an uncertain situation – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in the program “Sygnały Dnia” on PR1.

– We very much want a significant portion of these funds [from the Security and Defense Fund] to go towards our civil protection program, the construction of shelters by local governments, but we also have a very strong proposal regarding the research and development aspect. I'm thinking, for example, of hospitals, the State Medical Institute of the Ministry of Interior and Administration; they will aspire to this fund, which is also primarily directed at companies, at the defense industry – said Tomasz Siemoniak on PR1.

– We don't rule out introducing such checks, we are waiting for the new German government to be formed and to have a partner for discussion. Our position on checks on the German side is very clear. Prime Minister Tusk, myself, and other politicians have spoken very clearly on this matter, and we have also told the Germans that this is a bad action and fundamentally wrong. It significantly complicates the lives of Polish citizens, as well as German citizens or those in transit, and it yields no special effect – said Tomasz Siemoniak on PR1.

– [I will vote] as the government has submitted, of course, for the reduction [of the health contribution]. Yes, I think our position is clear, it would be difficult for ministers to vote differently than the government – stated Tomasz Siemoniak on PR1.

– This is a discussion that has been ongoing for some time, it has been decided by a decision of the Council of Ministers, and I think now it is only a matter of voting, and I have no doubts here. It is a situation with this kind of dilemma: should more money remain with citizens, in this case entrepreneurs, or enter the system – he continued.

– I want to appeal to those who want to abstain. If you allow this bill [on the health contribution] to pass, it will also be your responsibility. It will be the responsibility of those who allowed the majority to find themselves in support of this bill. You have already voted for ZUS holidays for entrepreneurs. Now you want to take money from the National Health Fund (NFZ) from patients, take money away from patients. There is already a 20 billion złoty deficit in the NFZ system, it is already there today – stated Marcelina Zawisza in the Sejm.

– Our government is reversing the catastrophic effects of the so-called Polish Deal step by step. In the area of the health contribution, as a first step, we ended the absurdity of calculating the health contribution from the sale of fixed assets. In the second step, we lowered the minimum contribution – said Andrzej Domański during the Sejm proceedings.

– Today, we are introducing a solution that will benefit 2.5 million Polish entrepreneurs. These are small, micro, and medium-sized businesses. […] The entire cost associated with this solution will be covered by the state budget. The National Health Fund will not suffer any consequences from the solution introduced today – he continued.

– One more piece of information for Mrs. Deputy Zawisza, all the over-performances from last year have already been settled – he added.

– Given that we do not take responsibility for this fatal public finance situation under Donald Tusk's government, a fatal situation, a record deficit, the PiS club will vote against this project – stated Mariusz Błaszczak in the Sejm.

– The Polish Deal led to the liquidation of over 600,000 entrepreneurs. The October 15th coalition promised to reverse these negative effects. This is merely a small step in that direction – Marek Sawicki stated in the Sejm.

– Dear Left, the prosperity of the state comes from the economy, meaning from industry, manufacturing, and services. If you think money and the budget grow without any care, like bananas, you are mistaken – he declared.

– If you want to suffocate Polish entrepreneurship, you are heading in the wrong direction. Get a grip. First, you need to produce, generate the budget, and then benefit from it – the PSL politician emphasized.

– Indeed, the National Health Fund (NFZ) is short billions of zlotys. This is a question session, so I will ask: why won’t you curb the absurd health tourism practiced by a huge number of residents of Ukraine, which is most acutely felt in the eastern voivodeships of Poland, who pay no health contributions in Poland but have access to healthcare? – stated Przemysław Wipler in the Sejm.

213 MPs supported the government's draft amendments to the health contribution. 190 voted against, and 25 abstained. The amendment will now proceed to the Senate for further work.

The majority of the Law and Justice (PiS) parliamentary club voted against, with 7 MPs abstaining – including Janusz Kowalski and Mariusz Kałużny. The Confederation parliamentary club also abstained.

The Left and Together (Razem) parliamentary clubs voted entirely against the government's changes.

The government's proposal aims, according to its justification, to "organize and simplify the rules for settling health contributions for entrepreneurs and to lower the amount of the health contribution, especially for entrepreneurs with low and medium incomes.".

– Lowering the contribution for 2.5 million entrepreneurs, mainly small and medium-sized ones, is a partial repair of the damage caused by Morawiecki with his „Polish Deal”. PiS did not take the chance for rehabilitation and once again voted against Polish entrepreneurs. This time they lost! – wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on social media.

– He can file [a lawsuit], he has the right to do so [Roman Giertych], but I am convinced that after the judicial reform, even if he achieves something now, he will lose everything and will have to pay a lot more – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

– Of course I don't regret [the words about Nuremberg]. No Nuremberg, meaning the Nuremberg principle, is needed, because the state, it seems, cannot distinguish, to impose a life sentence – added the PiS chairman.

– The health contribution has been lowered, as we promised, and there will be no loss for healthcare, because Minister Domański has declared compensation – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a conversation with journalists.

– The success is ours, and the fact that someone doesn't show up for votes is their problem – he continued, responding to the suggestion that absent PiS MPs saved the government.

– It's a shame the Left voted like that [...] in two votes, both for rejection in the first reading and for the final vote, they voted against the government bill, that's never a good situation – he went on to say.

– No [I don't expect consequences in the coalition], they announced this, it's not a surprise for us, but it's a shame [...] I believe it's a mistake they made – he added.

– We are marching to victory with Szymon Hołownia. We support Szymon, Szymon Hołownia is our candidate – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with journalists, when asked about participating in the patriots' march on May 25.

– I absolutely do not apologize, I still hope to repeat them. As for family ties, some heralds claim I am a very distant relative of the British royal family, so please address me as 'Your Most Radiant Highness' – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm, addressing Roman Giertych who was standing next to him.

– Yes, the President confirmed it to the leaders, it still holds [Article 5], and from what we hear, President Trump will be present at the [NATO] summit in The Hague – stated Radosław Sikorski at a press briefing in Brussels.

– We wanted to present the stance of the Law and Justice Parliamentary Club regarding the catastrophic situation of public finances that is occurring under the rule of the December 13th coalition, under Donald Tusk’s government. One can speak of a catastrophe, that is the appropriate word; this knowledge is currently being hidden until the presidential elections, and then after the presidential elections, we will likely hear the same tune we heard before 2015, that there is no money and there won't be – said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference.

– There was a report published in mid-March, stating that the deficit after the first two months is already enormous, so we can say that this nearly 300 billion zloty annual deficit will simply be higher. It was too optimistic when the ruling party wrote 290 billion zloty into the budget – he continued.

– Unfortunately, this is the result of their poor governance. Despite Donald Tusk changing the head of the Central Statistical Office, despite the Central Statistical Office changing the basket of products based on which inflation is determined, the economic situation of our country is dire – he went on to say.

– However, we want to say that tolerance does not mean accepting everything, and there are certain red lines that we wanted to draw and state so that certain circles stop manipulating this matter. The first dividing line is the theory that there are 256 genders and that gender is a cultural construct rather than biological – said Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

– The second fundamental dividing line is the issue of protecting children from early sexuality and from exposure to nudity. It is often the case that at these marches, which Rafał Trzaskowski co-organizes here, at these rainbow marches, some slogans sound beautiful, but as you can see, for example, there have been half-naked individuals dressed as dogs, together in the presence of children – he continued.

– Regarding rainbow communities, an attempt is being made to draw a false line of division between us and Tusk's left-wing team. Specifically, they are trying to say that within the debate on tolerance, we are against tolerating homosexual individuals, which is not true. In this matter, there is practically no dispute; we believe that these individuals should have all the rights that citizens possess – stated Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

– None of us asks about anyone's sexual orientation; moreover, the Polish state has always been known for being the most tolerant state in Europe, including in this regard – he added.

– Looking at the new doctrine of fighting democracy, Anna W. should have simply murdered someone from PiS, and then she would have been politely taken to some Social Welfare Home, and there would have been no problem. Such are the priorities in the current fighting democracy; it's simply shameful what this whole Tusk team is currently doing when it comes to abusing violence and breaking the law; it's a daily crime chronicle – stated Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

– Today, from the parliamentary rostrum, the Minister of Finance claimed that over-performances had been paid off. Based on information we obtained from hospital directors, he was not telling the truth. That was the reason why, as a club, we voted against the reduction of the health contribution because we feel responsible for Poland – Mariusz Błaszczak said at a press conference.

– We believe that the financial collapse in hospitals is intentional on the part of Donald Tusk's government. It does not stem from incompetence but from a plan. What plan? A plan for the privatization of healthcare. They will first bring healthcare finances to a crash, and then they will say that the only solution is the privatization of healthcare, the privatization of hospitals – he continued.

– Such words [about a murderer] should never have been uttered, and there must be appropriate consequences and penalties for such behavior. On October 15, 2023, the Sejm, operating without any order, ended with the votes of the electorate. The Sejm Presidium must react to such conduct to prevent worse incidents from occurring due to the disregard of those that took place at the current session – stated Piotr Zgorzelski at a press briefing in the Sejm.

– By their behavior in the chamber on April 2nd, 51 PiS MPs violated the dignity of the house by shouting "murderer" without justification at MP Giertych. After deliberation, the presidium imposed the highest penalty on MPs Kaczyński and Arent, who provoked the incident, which is 1/2 of their salary for 3 months, and a severe penalty on 49 MPs whom the Marshal's Guard and Sejm services identified as shouting "murderer" – he continued.

"You are asking why we abstained on the health contribution issue? Because as part of the health contribution reduction... the contribution for over a hundred thousand Polish entrepreneurs, those on flat-rate tax, has just been increased. In some cases, this increase is drastic," wrote Przemysław Wipler on X.

– A bill was voted on to eliminate irregularities in the visa system of the Republic of Poland. We all observed these irregularities, how the previous government was distributing visas left and right, today this system needs to be tightened, and it is a simple, Polish national interest that our visas, visas to Poland, should not be easily obtained – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– I was very surprised that the MPs from PiS did not support this bill, and this raises the question today as to whether everyone is truly concerned about strengthening our eastern border – he continued.

– Another bill was voted on today, aimed at reducing the health contribution. This is a promise of the ruling coalition, and I have always been in favour of such a solution because we need to lift these burdens from entrepreneurs – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– It is surprising that the Confederation MPs did not support this type of motion, even though we all supposedly care about lifting these burdens for entrepreneurs. I ask why they did this and where Mr. Mentzen was, why he did not vote in favour of supporting such solutions and lowering the health contribution; we should all care about this, and all MPs should perform their duties – he continued.

– I saw what happened in the Sejm, and it was literally a few minutes after everyone had honored the memory of John Paul II. I cannot understand how one can first speak of John Paul II's legacy, show that Poles can sometimes be united, and then cause this type of quarrel and use these types of words – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference, referring to the brawl in the Sejm.

– This simply shows hypocrisy, and I think it’s really enough of heating up the atmosphere. We truly need to consider today what we can do together, at least regarding security, rather than leading to these kinds of scenes and making such accusations in the Sejm – he continued.

– I hope that this good news, that Poland 2050, because it was us who pushed this, we entered into disputes with everyone concerning this contribution, has ultimately achieved success. This success is a success for Polish small entrepreneurs, small businesses, which generate the vast majority of Polish GDP – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in Gdańsk.

– This will end with the privatization of healthcare. What happened today in the Sejm was complete irresponsibility. The healthcare system is short by 20 billion zlotys, and now liberal populists will take out further billions, meaning queues will grow, thousands of people will not get timely access to procedures, thousands of people will not get timely access to rehabilitation, and drug programs will be cancelled – said Adrian Zandberg in a recording published on X.

– All of this is because Donald Tusk has decided to outbid Mentzen, who will dismantle the state faster. Together, we will appeal to Andrzej Duda to veto this law – he continued.

– We will soon be launching an information campaign in seven countries from which the largest number of migrants attempting to illegally cross the Polish border originate – Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced in a recording published on the X portal.

The Prime Minister's video was accompanied by footage showing an intervention by border guards and soldiers against individuals who attempted to illegally cross the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border.

– Our message will be simple: the Polish border is sealed. Do not believe smugglers, do not believe Lukashenko, do not believe Putin. They are lying to you when they say that this is the way to Europe. This is not true – he indicated.

– Today, when this government talks about tightening the [visa] system to ensure that those who come to study in Poland truly study in Poland […], to exclude those who were supposed to come for work and then disappeared somewhere in Europe, PiS voted against this specific bill that was meant to strengthen our visas and security. – I don’t know where Mr. Mentzen was with his scooter, but he wasn’t in the Sejm at the moment of such an important vote. Yet, everyone has a full obligation to fulfill in such important matters – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Końskie.

– Donald Trump is proposing the introduction of tariffs on all countries. I will tell you that, of course, this is a wrong decision, because everyone will lose from it. One should not, in a sense, declare a trade war on one’s closest friends. Everyone will lose from this, because Poland, Europe, and also the United States will lose – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Końskie.

– I saw how Mr. Nawrocki rejoiced at this and said that it was a great idea for Americans to introduce tariffs. Truly, this is not the first time I’d prefer Mr. Nawrocki to think nothing at all, because talking such nonsense harms our national interest – he assessed.

– While disagreeing with these decisions [regarding tariffs] and making a clear commitment to calmly, as partners, explain to Americans that we truly need to be together if we want to win against all those who wish us ill – but I watched how he [Donald Trump] spoke with passion about defending American interests, about defending every job in the USA – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Końskie.

"We all must learn this from the best"
– We truly all must learn this from the best. How he looked deeply into everyone's eyes and said: I care about your job, I care about your job, I care about all your jobs. […] This is precisely how someone running for the highest office in Poland should speak today: I will ensure your security, I will ensure your security, I will ensure all of your security – he continued.

"We will not surrender this passion to populists"
– Not everyone can dance to it like President Trump, but this passion is necessary. And I will tell you that we will not surrender this passion to populists. That we too have this fire, passion, and emotions within us. Only they are positive, because they are directed towards pride in what we have achieved and towards ensuring that we have no complexes and that we can look to the future with hope and realize your dreams and your aspirations – he emphasized.

– Mr. Rafał, we did not support this project because it raises the health contribution for 100,000 entrepreneurs on lump-sum tax. We are for lowering this contribution, not raising it. This is how we differ from you – wrote Sławomir Mentzen on social media.

– I didn't vote at this [Sejm] presidium meeting because I was chairing the proceedings at the time. I certainly wouldn't have voted for such high penalties. I believe the Sejm Presidium should not replace a court. If someone feels so wronged that they want to pursue penalties running into thousands or tens of thousands, they should go to court – stated Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with PR1.

– Kaczyński's nerves and fear regarding the presidential election results. Please note that just a few months ago, if we were sitting here in the studio, and the editor had said that a PiS candidate might not make it to the second round of elections, I would have reacted by saying: with the current political landscape, that's rather impossible – said Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

– Today, it is a very, very real scenario. And if such a scenario were to occur, Kaczyński would bear sole responsibility for it. He is aware that there are many people within PiS who have been wronged by him […] who wanted to run but were told 'no, you won't be candidates,' and that sooner or later they will hold Mr. MP Kaczyński accountable for every misstep – he continued.

– We have a lot of very clear scandals, really. The Justice Fund scandal, the recordings that were presented are devastating, and yet they are defending those who were involved in it. The RARS case, if we think about it calmly, is also obvious enough that a sensible political party should say: okay, these are our members or people connected with us, we will not comment, we are waiting for the prosecutor's verdict – said Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

– They are stubbornly denying it, they are defending these people. It looks like PiS has created a criminal protection movement – he continued.

– Kaczyński had 8 years to prove his theories, Macierewicz's sick theories. They did absolutely nothing – said Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

– I think that the activities of Mr. Macierewicz and the people associated with him are a completely different, gigantic chapter that should be investigated, because really, Macierewicz behaved for many years… those from the East could only dream of such an agent – he continued.
