Political Week Ahead: Tusk on the "Year of Breakthrough," Trzaskowski Launches New Initiative, Nawrocki on the Road, Pentagon Chief Visits, Senate Debates Incidental Bill

The Sejm session concluded a few days ago, but that doesn't mean political life will slow down in the coming week. A significant speech by Prime Minister Tusk, titled "Year of Breakthrough," is already scheduled for the beginning of the week. Rafał Trzaskowski will inaugurate a new initiative with local government officials in Pomerania – during this time, his main rival, Karol Nawrocki, will be in the same region – and the head of the Pentagon will fly into Warsaw.

Tusk on the "Year of Breakthrough." On Monday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Finance Minister Andrzej Domański will participate in the event "Poland. Year of Breakthrough." – Tomorrow, I will speak about how our country can soon become the best and safest place on earth. Because the vast majority of Poles – despite Poland's enemies and eternal grumblers – want peace, development, and prosperity. I believe in us – the head of government wrote on social media.

Smoleńsk Disaster Monthly Commemoration. Monday marks another monthly commemoration of the Smoleńsk disaster – PiS Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński will speak in the morning at a press briefing. Additionally, during the day, a press conference will be held in the Sejm by the chairman of the PiS parliamentary club, Mariusz Błaszczak, and MP Michał Moskalski.

Trzaskowski and Nawrocki on the Road. Another week in February means another week of presidential campaigning. On Monday, Rafał Trzaskowski will be in Gdynia, where he will participate in the celebrations of the 105th anniversary of Poland's Wedding to the Sea, and will also inaugurate the "Local Governments Forward" initiative with, among others, the mayors of Gdańsk and Sopot. Karol Nawocki will also be in Pomerania that day, planning to meet with shooters and the Brotherhood of St. George, as well as holding open meetings with residents.

Senate on the Incidental Bill. The upper house, during its two-day session beginning on Wednesday, will address, among other things, the so-called incidental bill – which practically concerns the Supreme Court's resolution of cases related to this year's presidential elections. Senators will also consider an amendment to the act on the exercise of the mandate of a member of parliament and senator – known as lex Romanowski, as well as amendments to certain laws in connection with the Republic of Poland's accession to enhanced cooperation within the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

Visit of the Pentagon Chief. U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is scheduled to visit Poland in the coming week. – This is great news! Poland is one of the first countries the new U.S. Secretary of Defense will visit. This is an expression of the strong partnership between Poland and the USA.
