Trzaskowski:

Today, No One Doubts the Warsaw Uprising Made Sense

- Of course, over the years, our understanding of the Uprising has evolved. Because today, no one doubts that the Warsaw Uprising made sense. Without it, we would not have our freedom, this deterrent effect. It seems to me that perhaps Soviet tanks would have been later, in the 50s or 80s, on the streets of Polish cities, but the Soviets knew well that it was better not to mess with us, and we, in turn, knew what this blood sacrifice meant, what its consequences were - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:19

Trzaskowski:

The matter is serious enough that it's good the National Electoral Commission wants to analyze it thoroughly

- The National Electoral Commission (PKW) is independent, and therefore it makes its own decisions. I can say this much – the matter is serious enough that it's good the PKW wants to analyze it thoroughly. In my assessment, everything indicates that the Law and Justice party (PiS) broke the law, that they misused public funds to support their campaign. We have plenty of evidence for this, for example, the Justice Fund, where we learn daily how politicians associated with Zbigniew Ziobro supported their election campaign with public money – stated Rafał Trzaskowski on Polsat News's "Graffiti".

08:23

Trzaskowski:

Campus Polska Przyszłości is not promoting anyone. There are no party accents there.

- Campus Polska Przyszłości is not promoting anyone. There are no party accents there. And we have taken great care of this from the very beginning. On the other hand, the Adenauer Foundation and all sorts of other foundations that support the campus are completely natural, because we are in the same political group. Besides, it's very, very little money - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in "Graffiti" Polsat News.

Tomczyk on PiS Subsidies:

If They Used the State as Their Property, They Should Have Their Money Taken Away.
- I think the National Electoral Commission (PKW) simply wants to deepen its knowledge, because there are many clues, many elements, but these procedures are ongoing within the state. I would also like to quote Article 126 of the Electoral Code, which states: "expenses incurred by electoral committees in connection with the called elections shall be covered from their own sources." Not from TVP, not from the army, not from the "800+" picnics, but from their own sources. If the party, which is PiS, used the state as its property, then it should have its state money taken away and its subsidy revoked, I have no doubt about that – stated Cezary Tomczyk during the program "Jeden na jeden" on TVN24.

Smoleńsk Subcommittee's Activities: Tomczyk Announces "Numerous Prosecutor's Office Notifications," Former Defense Ministers on the List
- These are 20 outstanding specialists who have been conducting military audits for years, and they are preparing this report. In accordance with the Minister of Defense's decision, this report will be presented publicly by approximately September 10th, it will be presented as soon as possible. I have a lot of information regarding Antoni Macierewicz, a lot of evidence of his lies, and a lot of notifications to the prosecutor's office that will be filed by the team, because this team is, in fact, in the final stages of their work. These notifications will concern Antoni Macierewicz as well, but I can also say today, not only him. Mr. Błaszczak was involved in this matter, a whole group of people who lied to public opinion on this matter – said Cezary Tomczyk on TVN24. - Antoni Macierewicz misappropriated public funds. Approximately 100 million zlotys were spent, counting the expenses for the commission, plus the destroyed aircraft, the Tu-154, which was cut up by members of this subcommittee with saws, they simply cut up the aircraft with saws, state property worth tens of millions of zlotys. I cannot imagine these people not being held accountable for this. Two notifications have already been sent to the prosecutor's office – he continued.

Tusk Announces PLN 100 Million for Warsaw Uprising Museum Expansion

– The Mayor of Warsaw pointed out to me several days ago that there was something that needed fixing. Due to some thoughtless formal, bureaucratic decisions, it turned out some time ago that the readiness to support the museum’s financing could not be realized. There are places where we don't think in terms of budget, discipline, but rather fundamental national interest – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the Warsaw Uprising Museum.

– Therefore, in agreement with the Director [Ołdakowski] and the Mayor [Trzaskowski], and at their request, I decided, having of course also discussed it with the Minister of Finance, that this program, your very ambitious one, already prepared, for the museum’s expansion, because we want more and more people to be able to use this institution, to learn about the Uprising, under better conditions too, so this program, which you ambitiously began, but for which there was a lack of funds, must be realized as soon as possible. That is why the decision regarding PLN 100 million, because that’s the amount we agreed upon, was made by me and the Minister of Finance – he continued.

11:37

Duda:

The Warsaw Uprising is the Moral Foundation of Our Independence
- The Warsaw Uprising is the moral foundation, the moral basis of our independence. Yes, of this independence today, yes, of this Poland, which is becoming more beautiful year by year, richer, better developed, in which we all live today, in which we all work today, which today, for 35 years, has been a fully independent, fully sovereign state. We owe this to those who fought 80 years ago, who died, who did not surrender, who did not retreat, who had the courage to fight to the very end, who bore this terrible sacrifice – said President Andrzej Duda during the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

The Era of Prosecutor's Office Ignoring NIK Reports is Over. Bodnar on the NCBiR Case
The NCBiR case is one of the 20 key matters whose clarification is essential for the quality of our public life. Today, the former deputy director of NCBiR - Hanna S. (charges: participation in an organized criminal group, accepting pecuniary and personal benefits, money laundering) and two entrepreneurs (charge: issuing fictitious invoices in connection with grants received by NCBiR) were detained - wrote Adam Bodnar on Twitter. The prosecutor's office must act meticulously and reliably, because it is accountable to society. The times when the prosecutor's office ignored the notifications of the Supreme Audit Office are over - emphasized the Minister of Justice.

15:37

Kaczyński:

The Warsaw Uprising Allowed Us to Hold Onto the Idea of Independence
The Uprising sustained something incredibly important in social consciousness, something that allowed Poles to hold onto the idea of independence, which seemed lost and defeated. However, the Uprising also fostered another trait in our social awareness, it built this other characteristic of our social consciousness. I pondered for a moment, as it might be difficult to speak of, it built an experience that allowed Poles, during numerous crises, during communism, to avoid everything that could lead to the greatest misfortune: intervention, a renewed tightening of communism, or even the complete liquidation of the Polish state, turning it into a Soviet republic – stated Jarosław Kaczyński during the 80th anniversary commemorations of the Warsaw Uprising.

15:40

"Refusal of Reparations Builds at Least the Presumption That These Elements Have Not Disappeared Entirely." Kaczyński on "German Culture"
We must not look through the hypocritical speeches of people who today strive to strip us of our freedom, and in time, this is written into the projects of new European treaties, also our independence, turning us into a territory inhabited by Poles, but managed from abroad. The point is that this tradition remains current, that this readiness for struggle, the political one, and also in the last resort, I am talking about the threat from the East, also armed, endures in Poland, and here we must appeal to the memory of the Warsaw Uprising, the memory of this act, extraordinary on a European scale, on the scale of the entire Second World War, and we must look at everything connected with the Uprising from one point of view. It is the point of view that President Duda mentioned yesterday in one sentence – there was no compensation and there was also no punishment, which was not mentioned, but which would have been worthwhile if the President of Germany had been here – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in Warsaw. The vast majority of criminals not only avoided punishment, but often could continue to hold their former positions, and let's remember that the crimes that were committed, for instance in this district, the Wola massacre, were by and large not the work of those who are also rightly accused of all crimes in Germany, as if the crimes were being shifted onto them, although they were indeed the main criminal force, the SS and similar units. These were crimes committed by ordinary Germans through mobilization, and one must ask, what is it in German culture that allows ordinary people, even those from traffic management companies, as one was brought here, to carry out massacres, massacres of children, women, men? To surround houses and simply murder everyone. What is it, and has it truly been completely rejected from this culture at this moment? Because this refusal of reparations is nothing other than building at least the suspicion, the presumption, that these elements have not disappeared entirely – he continued.

15:41

Kaczyński:

Germany Has Not Yet Learned This Lesson

- This was about justice, about equality, about Poland not being treated differently than other countries. Because that is also incredibly important. And Germany has not yet learned this lesson. One could say, using a certain metaphor, they haven't finished this school yet. Or perhaps they haven't even started learning - stated Jarosław Kaczyński in Warsaw.

15:44

Kaczyński:

No Compensation, No Reparation, No Punishment – The Matter Remains Unresolved
  • There are those who are ready to give up on everything. But words were spoken during these speeches that we listened to, which must be considered just. Only the insurgents themselves can forgive, but this must be supplemented. Only those who were murdered, tortured in Warsaw back then, can forgive. And there is no such forgiveness. Punishment is needed, even for the latter, because there are still those who participated in all of this, there are still insurgents, they are alive, and perhaps only a few, but the perpetrators are also alive. And let us remember that the latter element involved the fact that the most obvious criminals were simply not punished. This also needs to be emphasized. There is no compensation, no reparation, no punishment – the matter remains unresolved – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in Warsaw.

15:47

Kaczyński:

I'm unsure if the German President's visit during the 80th anniversary of the Uprising wasn't premature

- I'm unsure if yesterday's visit by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany during the 80th anniversary of the Uprising wasn't, however, premature. I hope it was only 10 years premature, because we must obtain what is rightfully ours. Both in the moral sphere, and also in the material sphere - stated Jarosław Kaczyński in Warsaw.

18:33

Tusk on Prisoner Exchange Operation:

The Operation Was Possible Thanks to Our State's Commitment.
The prisoner exchange operation has just concluded, allowing heroes of the Russian opposition and citizens of NATO countries held in Russia to leave the country. The operation was possible thanks to the commitment of our state. I thank the President and the services for their exemplary cooperation - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Twitter.

18:55

Tusk:

Wola Became a Symbolic Place, Also a Memorial to One of WWII's Cruelest German Crimes

- Mrs. Wanda [Traczyk-Stawska] spoke words that were important, sacred. Warsaw is a hero, everyone from that time was a hero. The fallen soldiers of the Uprising, the dying civilians, especially here, in Wola, which became a symbolic place, also a place of memory of one of the cruelest German crimes during World War II – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising.

18:57

Tusk on Solemn Pledge:

We Will Build a Strong Poland That Fears Neither Neighbours Nor Enemies.

- We all have an obligation today, a sacred obligation, to give a solemn pledge to the heroines and heroes of the Warsaw Uprising, in Poland, that this sacrifice, what Warsaw experienced, endured, suffering, bleeding 80 years ago, will not be in vain. As one of the nurses, Grażyna, recently said, what we really wanted was a normal life without suffering, without wounds, what gives freedom, independence. So today, Mr. Marshal, Mr. President, and all together, all of Poland, regardless of how we argue about various matters on a daily basis, we should all make this solemn pledge today. We are building together and will build a strong Poland that will not fear neighbours or enemies, or the dangers that have been lurking for some time – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising.

- Together we will build a Poland where such sacrifices as those that took place here in Warsaw, in Wola, 80 years ago, will never have to be made. We will build a safe home for you, for your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren – he added.

19:58

Pawlak:

The Full Power of the State Was Used to Promote PiS Politicians. It's Worth Accounting for Now
- It was visible to the naked eye, this asymmetry during the elections, where the full power of the state was used to promote politicians of the ruling party, and in various ways, as it involved various kinds of electoral gifts, but also directly organizing various kinds of meetings, where, if I remember correctly, the example of President Kaczyński was invoked, who, during a military picnic, was able to say that one must vote for PiS – said Waldemar Pawlak in an interview with Piotr Marciniak on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach". - It is worth accounting for this now. I listened to the statements of Mr. Advocate [...] Kalisz; he said that the State Electoral Commission only deals with the period of the elections themselves, the electoral campaign itself, so by its nature, this will only be a fragment of the entire situation – he continued.

20:04

Pawlak on Easing Regulations for Entrepreneurs:

I Expected Faster Progress.
- After PiS, we were left with an economy and regulations that were very overregulated, very burdensome for entrepreneurs, for those running businesses, and frankly, I expected faster progress when it comes to these processes of removing unnecessary regulations. This applies not only to flagship issues like the health contribution for self-employed individuals but also to various kinds of limitations and provisions that hinder operations - said Waldemar Pawlak on TVN24. - It's good [that the Minister of Finance is announcing changes to the health contribution], but it could have been done sooner - he continued.

20:08

Kalisz on the postponement of the decision on PiS's report:

The National Electoral Commission is not dragging its feet.
- The National Electoral Commission (PKW) is not dragging its feet at all. Yesterday, Professor Balicki, a member of the PKW and a distinguished Polish constitutionalist, after analyzing all the materials, stated that [...] regarding information about NASK - there is information concerning the conducting of various polls and studies during the election campaign, which were used by the PiS electoral committee. According to him, and I supported this view, it was necessary to ask NASK specifically about how much it cost during the election campaign, i.e., from August 8th to October 13th. We have not been presented with this data - said Ryszard Kalisz in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Gosc Wydarzen" (Guest of Events).

20:17

Kalisz:

Minister Berek is Offending Us. Let Him Do His Job, Not Lecture
- They are the ones, as the government, responsible for preparing all of this. In terms of supplying us with materials [the government failed], and here I am referring to Minister Berek, who is behaving in an extremely inappropriate manner. He offends us, instead of contacting us normally in writing, he writes tweets on X. As a result of these tweets, my name, for instance, is mentioned, leading to a whole series of hate, even against my family, my wife - Ryszard Kalisz said on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events). - That is why I appeal to the government, to Minister Grabiec, and even more so to Minister Berek: let him be aware of what he is doing. Let him do his job, not lecture - he emphasized.

20:27

Kalisz to Giertych: Roman, Look at This Hate and Hold Back
- He [Roman Giertych] writes all this on X, he was writing on X a few days ago. He didn't understand at all, I told him that he's confusing criminal proceedings with electoral proceedings. However, he also mentioned my name, and I have to say I felt so hurt. Because I don't know if it's his people, or someone else, or random, you know, haters gnashing their teeth at night who want to attack those being written about. There's also a huge amount of hate concerning my family – Ryszard Kalisz said on Polsat News' “Gość Wydarzeń”. - Roman, watch this hate and hold back – he appealed. - You can write a letter to us. You can communicate in any other way. But not like this – he added.

20:47

Kalisz:

I wanted the PKW to turn to the Prosecutor General regarding the Justice Fund. The motion did not pass
- I submitted another motion. I wanted the National Electoral Commission (PKW) to contact the Minister of Justice, the Prosecutor General, regarding the Justice Fund, because we received significant materials from him, but [...] once again, someone there among the officials, I hope unintentionally, forgot to specify - said Ryszard Kalisz on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events). - We have Article 149 of the Electoral Code - I'm advising those officials - where we must specify the amount of the benefit exactly to the zloty. [...] We don't have the instruments, we have 5 officials, to precisely define it - he continued. - My motion regarding the Justice Fund did not pass. Only two members of the PKW were in favour of this motion: myself and Advocate Gieras - he stated.

20:58

Kalisz on calculations regarding irregularities in PiS's report:

There are several hundred, but not yet 400 thousand.
- 400 thousand [zlotys spent illegally] must be the minimum amount for the [PiS financial report] to be rejected. There are several hundred, but not yet 400 - said Ryszard Kalisz on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events). - I am in favour of calculating these benefits from the Justice Fund ourselves, after my motion is rejected. I am convinced that it would exceed 400 thousand - he added.

Thanked Polish Authorities for Aid in Releasing American Citizens. Duda Spoke with Biden

- This evening, US President Joe Biden called President Andrzej Duda to thank Polish authorities for their help in releasing American citizens unlawfully detained in Russia. During the conversation, the Presidents emphasized the strength of allied ties and the strategic partnership between Poland and the USA – the Chancellery of the President informed.
