Political Schedule for Thursday: Kosiniak-Kamysz at Flag Day Celebrations, The Left on Their First EU Election Demand, Kaczyński in Kielce

At 10:00 AM in Brzesko, the Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, will participate in the celebrations of the Flag Day of the Republic of Poland.

A press conference by Nowa Lewica (The New Left) is scheduled for 12:30 PM, during which they are expected to present the opening plank of The Left's program for the European Parliament elections. Speakers will include Robert Biedroń, Krzysztof Gawkowski, and Katarzyna Kotula.

At 1:00 PM in Kielce, a convention with the participation of PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński will take place.

Gawkowski:

In Tusk's shoes, I wouldn't stand next to Duda on May 1st celebrating 20 years in the EU with a president who spoke ill of Europe
- Suddenly, we have a president who turns out to be a defender of European and democratic values, yet in his presidential campaign, he said it was an imaginary community and talked about the EU being something bad. Today, a defender of the EU, with Polish and EU flags, stands and says it's good that we've been in the EU for 20 years. Either I have a split personality, or the president is untrustworthy on this matter and is deceiving his voters and the people in Poland - said Krzysztof Gawkowski in TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" (Piasecki's Conversation). - I would prefer to have the stance that Prime Minister Donald Tusk has had for years, meaning Europe close to Poland, and Poland strongly in Europe [...], rather than seeking at all costs such a story or image, that the Prime Minister and the President stand together. Politics isn't made with images, but with facts. PiS wanted to lead Poland out and I have the impression that it still wants to [lead it out] of the EU. The October 15th coalition sees Poland as strong and solid in Europe - he continued. - If I were looking at this, in the role that the Prime Minister is in today, I certainly wouldn't want to stand next to Andrzej Duda on May 1st, on the occasion of EU Day and Labour Day [...]. I wouldn't want to celebrate 20 years in the EU in the company of a president who spoke ill of Europe - he stated.

Szłapka:

Marshal Hołownia's Words Seem to Have Escaped Him a Bit Too Quickly
- Perhaps Marshal Hołownia didn't have the full list of candidates for the European Parliament at that time, because Paweł Zalewski is also a minister, he is the Deputy Minister of National Defence, and he is running for the European Parliament, so perhaps some words escaped the Marshal a bit too quickly - Adam Szłapka said on TVP Info's 'Morning' program, when asked about Szymon Hołownia's statement that he does not send his ministers to the EP.

08:44

Szłapka:

What Morawiecki and Kaczyński are saying is pure disinformation. There is no discussion about treaty or institutional changes
- What Prime Minister Morawiecki is proclaiming is pure disinformation [...], but also what Jarosław Kaczyński is saying. There is no discussion today about treaty changes, institutional changes, and there is no contradiction whatsoever between a stronger, more efficient, more competitive Europe focused on security, and simultaneously strongly emphasizing our identities, what is important to us, and our agency, including within the European Union - Adam Szłapka said on TVP Info.

08:48

Gawkowski on Running for the European Parliament: Deputy Ministers Have Full Substitutability. Lewica Views Constitutional Ministers Differently
- From the perspective of deputy ministers, I would exclude that. I don't see a problem with it. There are several deputy ministers in each ministry, they fight on different fronts, and these fronts can be exchanged, because sometimes they substitute for each other, I'm talking about my ministry – said Krzysztof Gawkowski in the TVN24 program "Rozmowa Piaseckiego", when asked about the issue of deputy ministers running for the European Parliament after a few months in government. - Deputy ministers have full substitutability; the regulations are also prepared in such a way that it looks like this. From the perspective of constitutional ministers, Lewica is not putting anyone forward; we look at it differently – he continued.

08:49

Szłapka:

I Rate Obajtek's Candidacy as Badly as Possible, But I See One Plus
- I rate Daniel Obajtek's candidacy [for the European Parliament] as badly as it possibly can be, but I see one plus to this candidacy, namely that for a long time no one has seen Daniel Obajtek, he is probably somewhere outside Poland, even if he appears in the media, he appears remotely, sooner or later he will have to reveal himself - said Adam Szłapka on TVP Info.

08:53

Szłapka:

I get the impression the President says some things to be heard and listened to. Some might bring a smile, and some are dangerous
- For the last few months, I've had the impression that the President says certain things to be heard and listened to. And some of these things may bring a smile to our faces, while some are irresponsible and dangerous, just like publicly speculating about Nuclear Sharing without discussing it in the appropriate circles is, in my opinion, simply unserious – Adam Szłapka said on TVP Info.

08:55

Sasin:

We Never Advocated for Leaving the EU, But We Say It's Heading in the Wrong Direction Today

- We never advocated for leaving the European Union, but we are not uncritical of the EU either, and we say that today it is heading in the wrong direction. The attempt to strip states of their sovereignty, the treaty change, which today, so to speak, is on the agenda in the EU discussion - stated Jacek Sasin on the program "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

09:02

Sasin on PiS Politicians' Summons Regarding Pegasus: A Summons Alone Does Not Mean These Individuals Were Under Surveillance

- I don't know what these summons mean, as it's difficult for me to say. A summons alone does not mean these individuals were under surveillance, so I would rather not comment on it. If I learn more about this matter, I will be able to speak - stated Jacek Sasin on the program "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

09:07

Sasin:

I have a clear message to our political opponents: we will not be divided

- The current government's objective is precisely to provoke us, to cause infighting before these elections, but I have a clear message for our political opponents: we will not be divided. Today, I have no doubt that the opponent of Polish interests is the ruling coalition of December 13th. We will not be looking for opponents or enemies within our own camp - stated Jacek Sasin in the program "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

09:09

Müller:

The Decision on PiS's Presidential Candidate Must Be Made Very Thoughtfully
- The Prime Minister is not shying away from a potential run [in the presidential elections], but in the sense that there is readiness, should the need arise to take up that gauntlet. However, let us consider that such a decision must be made in a very thoughtful manner, because it is important for us that PiS wins the elections, and there is still over a year until the elections, so such decisions will, I think, be made in about half a year – stated Piotr Müller on TOK FM.

09:11

Müller on EP Elections: The Most Important Thing is to Achieve a Better Result Than Civic Platform
- From the moment the lists are known, established, and registered, we are on the same lists of one party, so it would be inappropriate for me to criticize my colleagues from [Kurski's] list, therefore I will not do so. You know the answer, I think our listeners do too [regarding my support for Kurski for the EP] – said Piotr Müller on TOK FM. - The most important thing is to achieve a better result than Civic Platform, to confirm our dominance on the political scene. It is, of course, probable [losing some seats], but we will fight to prevent it from happening – he added.

10:40

Kolarski:

President Believes EU-USA and EU-Ukraine Summits Should Be Organized; Official Notification Sent to Prime Minister Today
- I have one piece of information for you, one announcement related to yesterday's aborted meeting between the President and the Prime Minister. This meeting, as you know, was to be dedicated to security matters, but above all, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the EU, to the priorities of our presidency. During a briefing, the President informed that to implement these priorities, two summits should be organized: EU-USA and EU-Ukraine. The first concerns deepening transatlantic relations, the second concerns the enlargement of the Union to include Ukraine and the plan for Ukraine's reconstruction after the war. Today, the President sent official notification to the Prime Minister in this regard, stating that to emphasize the political significance of our presidency, these two summits should be organized – said Wojciech Kolarski at a press conference.

10:42

Kolarski:

I will lead the PiS list in Wielkopolska in the EP elections
- Yes, I am going to Kielce today, here I appear as a minister, in a moment I will go to Kielce as Wojciech Kolarski, the leader of the PiS list in Wielkopolska. I am proud that I will be able to represent Polish affairs in the EU, if I gain the trust and support of the people of Wielkopolska – stated Wojciech Kolarski at a press briefing.

11:23

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

NATO and the EU are Guarantees of Poland's Security and Development - Anyone Opposing This Harms the Republic of Poland
- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the North Atlantic Alliance, the EU are guarantees of Poland's security and development, and the raison d'état of the Republic of Poland is to be in the EU and in the North Atlantic Alliance, to be in the Union and in NATO. This is Poland's raison d'état. Anyone opposing this, anyone seeking shortcuts, acts to the detriment of the Republic of Poland. Anyone striving to make our alliance function better acts for the benefit of the Republic of Poland – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

13:38

Biedroń:

We Want to Start a Discussion on a Future Constitution for Europe

- Today, we are unveiling our first postulate related to these elections and a fundamental postulate for the future of Poland and Europe. The Left has always believed in a strong, secure, prosperous Europe; we have supported Poland's integration with the European Union in every possible field. We have an example of this: a strong Poland within a strong Europe will be a guarantor of our security, our well-being, our prosperity. Today, after years, we as the Left want to take co-responsibility for the future of Poland, for the future of Europe. We want to shape European policy with the Polish government - stated Robert Biedroń at a press conference.

- We want to start a discussion on a future constitution for Europe. A constitution that we will defend in the future, just as we defended the Polish constitution when PiS laid hands on it. Over the last eight years, Poles have shown how to defend the constitution (...) that's why the Left is proposing a constitution for Europe - he added.

13:47

Gawkowski:

Building the Foundations of Europeanness, Community, Responsibility, and Equality – Should Be in a Single Written Document
In just seven months, Poland will begin its presidency of the European Union. This is an important time for Poland and for Europe, because Europe needs more Poland, and Poland needs more Europe. That is why the proposals we are talking about, building the foundations of Europeanness, community, responsibility, and equality, should be in a single written document and also adhered to by the European states. This is a fundamental principle for a state that desires greater European integration – stated Krzysztof Gawkowski at a press conference.

13:59

Kaczyński:

These Elections Are Also About Us Remaining a State that Exists, Sovereign, and Independent
- The elections ahead of us are also about this, not just about this, but also about us remaining a state that exists, a sovereign state, and an independent state - said Jarosław Kaczyński at the PiS convention in Kielce.

14:08

Kaczyński:

The October 15th Elections Were Not a True Act of Democracy, They Were a Great Deception
- They simply promised miracles during the election campaign [...] 60,000 zlotys tax-free, half prices for energy, if only Tusk were prime minister, 5.19 [zł] for gasoline, these can be called symbols, but also various kinds of wage increases, the whole story about how much better off we would be under their rule. And all of this quickly, within 100 days. Those 100 days have long passed, there are plans for the coming years, but there's no longer talk of 60,000 zlotys, I'm referring to tax-free financial plans - Jarosław Kaczyński said at the PiS convention in Kielce.
- All of this was one gigantic deception. One gigantic deception, which in essence meant that these [parliamentary elections on October 15th] were not a true act of democracy, but a great manipulation, I will repeat that word again, it was a great deception - he continued.

14:14

Kaczyński:

They want to halt Poland's development on foreign orders, we cannot allow it
- It's not just that they are not implementing what they promised. They are doing much, much more against Poland's development. Poland's development was to be accelerated and secured by major investments. The CPK (Central Communication Port) became a symbol of this. Remember, ladies and gentlemen, it's not just a symbol. The operation of the CPK, if it were to be built, would allow us to accelerate our growth by 1-2% each year - stated Jarosław Kaczyński at the PiS convention in Kielce. - They are doing everything to prevent this from happening. Because it's not just about the CPK, it's about nuclear power, the Oder river, Świnoujście, and other large investments, including foreign ones. They want to halt Poland's development on foreign orders, and we cannot allow that - he continued.

14:20

Kaczyński:

Poland Must Be in the EU, Times Demand It, But as a Strong State Catching Up to the West
- Poland must be in the European Union, such are the times, but Poland must be in the European Union as a strong, well-developing state catching up to the West. Because we can quickly catch up to this West, it would be the first time in our history. And we can achieve this great, historical success; we were heading in this direction. We had, one could say, an accident on the job along the way, these elections that we won but did not give us power - said Jarosław Kaczyński at the PiS convention in Kielce.
