Nowacka:

Duda is Known for His Misogyny. He Used Age as a Pretext to Attack Women Again
- We are talking about minors who, under Polish law, are mature enough to care for a child. Girls in Poland can give birth to children and can then legally care for that child and administer medication to that child. So, should they not be able to decide to take a pill, which, I remind you, is not an abortifacient pill but emergency contraception? - said Barbara Nowacka in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24. - This is Mr. Duda's perspective, who is, by the way, known for his misogyny, on women, whom he likely considers immature beings, and especially teenagers - she assessed. - [The President] used age as a pretext to attack women again. But please note that Polish women won't fall for it either. He showed what the entire PiS camp looks like – under the guise of hypocrisy, they are attacking women and their safety again, because the "morning-after" pill is a safeguard for a woman in a crisis, emergency situation - she continued.

08:19

Nowacka on Abortion: The Vast Majority of Female MPs Will Vote for Liberalization. The Problem is That Once Again, a Few Gentlemen with Doubts Stand Over Women's Decisions
- I am wholeheartedly in favor of the Civic Coalition's [KO] regulations, as I also co-created these draft laws and believe they are the most sensible, best solutions. I will vote for any law liberalizing [abortion law] - Barbara Nowacka stated in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24. - The problem is not that women disagree, because in parliament, the vast majority of female MPs from Third Way, PSL, and of course all from KO and The Left will vote for liberalization. The problem is that once again, a few gentlemen with doubts stand over women's decisions - she continued.

08:36

Nowacka:

Trzaskowski is the Best Candidate for President from the Pro-Democracy Side
- It is obvious that the best candidate for president from this pro-democracy side is Rafał Trzaskowski. I don't think anyone has any doubts about that. Of course, there will be stoking, intrigue, and stories like 'maybe it's not him, maybe let's look for someone else'. But firstly, Rafał Trzaskowski will win in Warsaw in the first round, and secondly, he is our best candidate for president. This is evident in all trust polls - said Barbara Nowacka in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24. - Do you know what distinguishes him from other potential candidates on our side, who are mentioned today? That he will sign a liberal abortion bill - she added.

08:39

Trzaskowski:

Local Governments Alone Cannot Solve Housing Problems. I Appeal to Speaker Biejat to Address This Issue
Regarding housing, all the ideas Ms. Biejat speaks of, both for communal housing and affordable rentals, we are building them. I hear that it could have been faster. It's interesting if it could have been faster during the pandemic, or at the time when prices soared after the war. That's a debatable point, but there are no new, revolutionary ideas there. I agree that it would be better to build more apartments; incidentally, local governments alone cannot solve housing problems (...) I'll give one example. I want to contribute land to my own company that builds affordable rental apartments, but it's classified as state aid, and I have to pay VAT on it because that's how PiS changed the law. So, there is a lot to be done in the Sejm and the Senate. I appeal to Speaker Biejat to address this matter, as it could help us - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in the program "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

08:46

Trzaskowski:

No Revolutionary Ideas Among Other Warsaw Mayoral Candidates' Programs

- There are no revolutionary ideas among the programs of other candidates for the mayor of Warsaw; they are listening to what people are saying. I know what interests and concerns them, and I am even ready to cooperate, provided they don't forget about Warsaw later - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in the "Graffiti" program on Polsat News.

08:48

Gliński:

Parliamentary Immunity Should Extend to Private Premises
- It is certainly disturbing that it's starting with breaking down doors and forcibly entering the homes of politicians who have immunity. I recall that Professor Chmaj, a well-known figure, issued an opinion a few years ago stating that parliamentary immunity covers private premises, meaning a house or apartment. This is how it should be, because let's imagine a situation where the person who has this immunity is in their home, for example, and is holding something in their hand – do they or do they not fall under this entry and search? – said Piotr Gliński in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the "Gość Radia ZET" program.

08:50

Trzaskowski:

We'll Catch Our Breath Only in 2025

- We'll catch our breath only in 2025. It will certainly be better regarding the revenues generated within the country. It will be significantly better because there will simply be no political criteria; they will be entirely objective. Thus, the money earned by the residents of Warsaw will stay in the city. However, we have a big unknown concerning European funds – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in the program “Graffiti” on Polsat News.

08:52

Nowacka on Abolishing Homework: The World is Changing, and This Isn't an Experiment, as Many Schools Have Been Operating This Way for Years
- We are keeping our promises. A specific point [abolishing homework], which was a point created by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, but a very necessary one, because Polish schools need change. […] We need change immediately, for the good of children, for the good of parents, for the good of education – said Barbara Nowacka in „Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24. - We were also accustomed, at various times, to school uniforms, and for years to oppression, and even physical punishment [administered] by teachers. The world is changing, and this is not an experiment, because an experiment is something that happens incidentally, and in many Polish schools for a long time, wanting to ease the burden on students, teachers have begun to move away from homework. There are many schools that have been operating this way for several years – she continued.

08:52

Gliński:

Wrzosek Has Been Breaking the Law for Years
- I have no idea what [Adam Bodnar] should do [regarding Prosecutor Wrzosek]. We know that Prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, like unfortunately many other prosecutors and many other judges, has been breaking the law for years, has been politically involved in many political actions for years. [...] This is my opinion – said Piotr Gliński on Radio ZET.

08:59

Gliński:

Democracy in Poland Died with the Last Election. This is a Type of Dictatorship
- We have a very serious political situation in Poland. Democracy in Poland died with the last election [...]. Yes, exactly [power could have been changed if people didn't like it], but not for power that is a dictatorship. This is a type of dictatorship [...] massive violations of law and the Constitution - said Piotr Gliński on Radio ZET. - In these upcoming elections, we should make conscious decisions, knowing that Poland has not been a democratic country since December 13th and drawing conclusions from this - he continued.

09:02

Sasin:

Tusk's 100 Promises Turned Out to Be 100 Lies. It Was a Grand Political Deception

- It was about political theatre, I have no doubts about it. It was about covering up the fact that Tusk's 100 promises turned out to be Tusk's 100 lies, and it's not just us, the opposition politicians, saying this. Someone might say: well, you're attacking the ruling party, but numerous journalists and commentators point to this, and all these 'Tuskometers' being published indicate that it simply failed, that it was a grand political deception – stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Renata Grochal on the program "Bez Uników. Rozmowa Polityczna w Trójce".

09:04

Gliński on Trzaskowski: I Hope He Loses the Election. He's a Fat, Rather Lazy Cat
- I hope that [Rafał Trzaskowski] loses the election. [...] He is a fat cat, a rather lazy cat, who does nothing in Warsaw. Moreover, Civic Platform has been governing Warsaw for over a dozen years and has practically no successes - said Piotr Gliński on Radio ZET.

09:09

Gliński on Bocheński: A Very Good Candidate, Perhaps Just Not Promoted Enough
- [Tobiasz Bocheński] is a very interesting candidate, because he is a young man, very hardworking, energetic, well-educated, and also experienced in politics, though not in the kind of politics that makes front-page news. He was a voivode twice, so he knows administration, managing large institutions, so truly a very good candidate, perhaps just not promoted enough - said Piotr Gliński on Radio ZET.

09:14

Gliński:

Regarding the ZUS Contribution, it was Most Likely Our Shared Political Mistake
- This was most likely a mistake regarding the ZUS contribution, I think it was our shared, political mistake [...] it was probably one of those mistakes we made. A government that makes such mistakes after eight years is then held accountable - said Piotr Gliński on Radio ZET.

09:15

Wroński on the Death of a Pole in the Gaza Strip: Our Mission Requested Explanations from Israeli Authorities
- You have information, and I also have information from the operational center, which is agency information, mainly from the humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen, which organized this convoy [in the Gaza Strip]. So far, the deaths of citizens of Great Britain, Australia, and Poland are known - Paweł Wroński said at a press briefing. - We also know that the Australian government is trying to obtain official confirmation from the Israeli government. Our mission in Tel Aviv has contacted the Israeli authorities requesting confirmation of identity, the course of events, and explanations in this matter - he conveyed. - You have probably seen internet photos with passports. We have seen them too. [...] I will only be able to provide exact details once we have official confirmation from the Israeli side - added the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson. - The Polish side has repeatedly advocated in recent times for the humanitarian conduct of this war, the respect for the rights of civilians and international, humanitarian organizations, and has also expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire proposals - he continued.

09:27

Sasin:

Bocheński will make it to the second round

- I think he will [Tobiasz Bocheński make it to the second round]. Let me remind you – I was also a PiS candidate for the mayor of Warsaw, that was 10 years ago, in 204 [Note: likely a typo, should be 2014], I also had similar ratings to what the reporter is citing in relation to Tobiasz Bocheński, and then it turned out that I made it to the second round and won over 40% of the votes in that second round, so polls are polls, and the real poll, the real results will be on election day – stated Jacek Sasin on PR3.

09:39

Sasin:

I spoke with Obajtek about my alleged surveillance. He denied it, and I believe him

- We discussed this matter [with Daniel Obajtek regarding alleged surveillance] and of course, President Obajtek denied it, and I believe him. I have no reason to think otherwise. However, the matter should be clarified if government members are being monitored. I don't know if that was the case, but concerning the events I'm referring to, whether they were carried out on behalf of some media outlets or other centers, or perhaps an agency. I simply don't know - stated Jacek Sasin on PR3.

10:01

Szczerba on Restoring VAT on Food: The State Must Function on Something
- These were actions prepared earlier; PiS also assumed this return to the normal VAT rate. You know, frankly speaking, we have expenses, we have a war right beyond our border, we are continuing all social and pro-demographic programs, we need co-financing for European funds, and we have secured 600 billion zlotys. The state also must function on something – stated Michał Szczerba in the program "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

10:03

Szczerba:

'Morning-after pill' to be available in pharmacies from May 1st, Duda's behavior is anti-women
- This behavior of Andrzej Duda is scandalous, indefensible, and anti-women. Once again, he could have stood with women, but he stood against them, with the silent voices of Agata Duda and Kinga Duda, women in his entourage. [...] This is an absolutely a decision that shows the infantilism of this character, and on the other hand, it shows that he understands nothing about medical knowledge and will be responsible for hundreds, thousands of abortions by girls and women who, for example, had no access to a gynecologist during the three days of the holidays to get a prescription for the 'morning-after pill'. The decision will of course be made by the Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna; it is currently under consultation, and we plan to implement plan B from May 1st, and the pill will be available in pharmacies – said Michał Szczerba in PR1.

10:08

Szczerba on the Visa Affair: Morawiecki, Kaczyński, and Kamiński to be Summoned by Investigative Committee to Account for the Scheme They Shielded with Protection
- First, what the investigative committee will examine tomorrow is how it is possible that 90,000 visas, nearly 90,000 visas, meaning we are no longer talking, as PiS claims, about, I don't know, a few hundred, a few thousand visas, but it's already 90,000 visas, 90,000 visas were issued, and 13,000 arrived in Poland. In other words, someone treated business visas and the entire government program as an opportunity for transfer from India, China, Kazakhstan, and the Russian Federation. From the Russian Federation, during the hostilities, 3050 Russians arrived or received visas. As I said, I cannot talk about everything, but the special services responsible for our security were already then sounding the alarm that this is a channel used by individuals not favorable to us. [...] It was simply treason, endangering our security – stated Michał Szczerba on PR1. - Mateusz Morawiecki will be a witness for our committee, just like Jarosław Kaczyński, and just like Mariusz Kamiński. All three have been summoned, but of course, they will be summoned at the very end so that, let's say, they can explain this scheme that they have surrounded with their protective umbrella – he added.

10:43

Sikorski on the Death of a Pole in the Gaza Strip: I Asked the Israeli Ambassador for Urgent Clarifications
- I personally asked the Israeli ambassador for urgent clarifications. He assured me that Poland would soon receive the results of the investigation into this tragedy. Our Ministry of Justice is launching an investigation. I join in the condolences to the family of our brave volunteer and all civilian victims in the Gaza Strip - Radosław Sikorski wrote on social media.

11:05

Błaszczak:

PiS Submits Bill to Reintroduce Zero VAT on Food
- When PiS was in power, we took care of people. We made sure that household incomes were higher year after year. Now, with the December 13th coalition in power, they are reaching deep into the pockets of particularly less affluent Poles, because VAT on food means draining the pockets of those who spend a significant portion of their income on food, and these are not wealthy people. Therefore, we have decided once again to submit a bill to the Sejm that reinstates the zero VAT rate on food […], guaranteeing a zero VAT rate on food until the end of this year - said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference. - To prevent a return to poverty, which the December 13th coalition is ushering in, we are submitting a bill and will request that the Marshal of the Sejm consider this project at the session that begins next week - he added.

11:18

Szydło:

The December 13th Coalition Burdened Poles with Price Hikes, While the PiS Government Introduced 500+ on April 1st
- What is the difference between the PiS government and the December 13th coalition government? I think the shortest way to put it is this: the December 13th coalition burdened Poles with price hikes on April 1st, while the PiS government gave Poles 500+ on April 1st and initiated its grand pro-family, pro-social policy, which simultaneously served as the engine of our economy - stated Beata Szydło at a press conference. - We fought VAT mafias, we managed to find money in the budget for social programs, for investments, for security investments. This current government, which has been in power for just over 100 days, has proven that in such a short time, it has not only failed to manage public finances and the budget, but must reach into the pockets of Poles, and it took them significantly less time than when Tusk was prime minister for the first time - she continued.

11:18

Duda:

This Tragedy Should Never Have Happened and Must Be Investigated

- With deep sorrow, I received the news of the deaths of World Central Kitchen volunteers in the Gaza Strip, including a Polish citizen. My thoughts are with their loved ones. These brave individuals, through their service and sacrifice for their fellow human beings, were changing the world for the better. This tragedy should never have happened and must be investigated - wrote President Andrzej Duda on Twitter.

11:35

Biejat:

I Would Suggest the Ministry of Health Launch a Hotline So Every Patient Can Get a Prescription for the "Morning-After" Pill
- I am very pleased that the Ministry of Health is seeking alternative solutions, because unfortunately, we women could not count on the president to take our side. Certainly, a pill ["morning-after"] prescribed by pharmacists, a prescription for this pill, is a way out, but I fear it may prove insufficient, especially in smaller towns, because unfortunately, we know today that there are pharmacists who illegally invoke the conscience clause, who refuse to dispense even prescription medications for which the patient already has a prescription. Therefore, in addition to this, I would suggest that the ministry simply launch a 24-hour hotline, a type of assistance similar to the existing holiday service, funded by the National Health Fund (NFZ), so that every patient could use such an NFZ hotline and obtain a prescription in this way - said Magdalena Biejat at a press conference.

11:39

Biejat on Duda's Decision Regarding the 'Morning-After' Pill: In My Opinion, the President Will Contribute to the Defeat of the Right-Wing Candidate in Next Year's Presidential Election
- In my opinion, the president yielded to pressure from his environment, succumbed to superstitions and prejudices, instead of clearly siding with modern medicine and with women. In my opinion, he will also contribute to the defeat of the conservative environment's candidate, the right-wing candidate, in next year's presidential election, because this will be remembered, and of course President Duda may not care about it today, as he himself will not be running, but in my opinion, women will remember it, not just the left-wing ones - said Magdalena Biejat at a press conference.

11:43

Czarzasty:

I will ask Bodnar for a conversation regarding reconsideration and analysis of the possibility of reopening the prosecution in the Blida case

- I have decided that I will approach Minister Adam Bodnar this week and ask him for a conversation regarding the reconsideration and analysis of the possibility of reopening the prosecution in this case, because when I see what the people who were also responsible for justice in Poland at that time are doing, what they did with the Fundusz Sprawiedliwości (Fund for Justice), how immoral they are, how they hide various things, I think that in the case of Barbara Blida, all hands were washed too quickly – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty at a press briefing in Sieradz.

12:54

Trzaskowski:

In Warsaw, we talk about our successes because we spent PLN 260 million on sports investments during my term
- In Warsaw, we talk about our successes because we spent 260 million zlotys during my term on various types of sports investments. Whether it's swimming pools like the one at Moczydło, or at Inflandzka, or Górka Szczęśliwicka. Of course, we are now working on Skra, in order to hand over this fantastic facility, and first its surroundings, to the residents of Warsaw. We are also building halls, which Warsaw desperately needs. Together with Minister Nitras, we made decisions about investments at Stegny. What is rarely talked about is precisely the support for clubs, and not just professional ones, because Warsaw supports 200 clubs, and these are, of course, well-known, professional clubs, but the vast majority of them are precisely clubs that arise from grassroots initiatives. I am very pleased that the minister also noticed that amateur sport is also very important - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

13:41

Sikorski:

I Will Speak with the Israeli Foreign Minister
- It is a tragedy, we still do not understand how this could have happened. [...] I spoke personally with the Israeli ambassador, who assured me that the matter would be investigated very urgently and that Poland would receive full information - said Radosław Sikorski at a press conference. - I will shortly, literally in a quarter of an hour, as soon as I finish speaking with you [approx. 1:45 PM - ed.], speak with the Israeli Foreign Minister - he announced.

15:39

Sikorski Calls for Impartial Investigation into Gaza Aid Convoy Attack in Talks with Israeli FM
Minister Radosław Sikorski, in a conversation with Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Israel Katz, called for an impartial investigation into the attack on a humanitarian convoy in the Gaza Strip, in which a Polish citizen died – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed. "Minister Sikorski emphasized that Poland is shocked by the shelling and the death of seven members of a humanitarian organization in Gaza who were bringing aid to other people. Especially since the attack occurred on World Central Kitchen – a completely apolitical organization that has previously helped refugees from Ukraine in Poland, as well as Israeli citizens evacuated after the Hamas attack. The head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the Polish prosecution is conducting an investigation into this matter, and the incident should be considered in a criminal context. In response, he heard assurances from Minister Katz that the Israeli investigation "will be independent". Minister Israel Katz extended his condolences to the Polish government, nation, and the family of the Polish volunteer killed in the attack, and announced that the investigation will prevent such incidents in the future. He assured that the Israeli government, during the ongoing conflict, is concerned about the safety of civilians and humanitarian mission workers. He stressed that the goal of the Israeli authorities is to eliminate Hamas, which poses a threat to the civilian population. Minister Sikorski pointed out that for the credibility of Israel's actions and the future of peace in the Middle East, it is essential that the current military operation in Gaza be accompanied by a political process and the presentation of proposals for the Palestinian nation.

18:29

Trzaskowski:

Tusk Will Engage in the Campaign This Week. He'll Be in a Few Places in Poland
- We started this campaign together, but Donald Tusk has so much on his plate that I'm not surprised he can't be 100% involved, but I know he will get involved this week. I know the schedule isn't clear yet, but that he will be in a few places in Poland - said Rafał Trzaskowski in the "Afternoon Conversation" on RMF FM.

18:34

Trzaskowski on Bocheński's 9%: I don't believe it, there was one poll, in my opinion not entirely reliable. PiS has a 20-30% electorate in Warsaw
- I take everyone seriously, of course, Tobiasz Bocheński is a serious [opponent] because he has significant support [...]. I don't believe in it [9% for Bocheński], there was one poll which, in my opinion, is not entirely reliable. [...] PiS has an electorate in Warsaw between 20 and 30%, as all recent studies have shown - said Rafał Trzaskowski on RMF FM.

18:41

Trzaskowski:

I won't rule out running for president in a year and a half
- No one can determine 100% [whether I will be the president of Warsaw for a year and a half, or for the entire term]. I am saying this completely honestly. I am focusing on Warsaw; nothing else interests me at the moment. However, believe me, in 2020 it didn't even cross my mind that I would run for president [...] so I won't rule out my candidacy in the presidential election in a year and a half - said Rafał Trzaskowski on RMF FM. - Civic Coalition will decide. It is completely natural that each party will choose its candidate, and of course, that candidate will also have a lot to say [...]. I think the decision will be made at the beginning of next year - he continued.

18:48

Trzaskowski:

I've never been a proponent of prohibition, but I've initiated consultations. If the majority of Warsaw residents want it, I'm ready to consider it.
- I have never been in favor of this solution, but because there are so many petitions on this matter, I have decided that we will conduct consultations, and truly extensive ones at that. If the majority of Warsaw residents want prohibition, mind you, we are talking about the sale of alcohol, not alcohol in restaurants, then I am ready to consider this project - said Rafał Trzaskowski on RMF FM. - No [there will be no referendum], we will simply conduct truly proper consultations, because we only did surveys which show that a large part of Warsaw residents are indeed in favor, now we will conduct consultations on a very large sample. If the majority of Warsaw residents want it, then we will decide at what hours, in what way - he continued.

20:37

Hołownia on the Death of a Pole in Gaza: If Someone Shoots Civilians in War, It's a War Crime
- A terrible thing has happened, something that should not have occurred. Because it is clear that Israelis have the right to defend themselves and their territory against Hamas terrorists, but no one has the right to kill civilians, to kill those providing aid - said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf on TVP Info's "Pytanie dnia" (Question of the Day). - If someone shoots civilians in war - regardless of whether they are humanitarian workers, patients in a hospital, or civilians who happen to be in a place they frequent daily, and we are dealing with such cases in the Gaza Strip - then it is a war crime - he stated.

20:56

Hołownia:

Poland Should Demand Not Only Compensation for the Family, But Also Prosecution of This War Crime
- Poland should demand not only compensation [for the family of the Pole killed in the Gaza Strip], but it should also demand the prosecution of this war crime, if it is classified as such by law enforcement agencies. And it should, because as I said – if a civilian dies in war, it is a war crime – said Szymon Hołownia in TVP Info's "Question of the Day".

21:04

Hołownia:

No Request to Lift Immunity Has Arrived Yet
- I don't have information yet on how many of these requests [to lift immunities] will be submitted. None have arrived so far. Once they do, we will of course deal with them in the normal procedure - Szymon Hołownia said on TVP Info's 'Question of the Day'.

21:06

Gajewska on the Morning-After Pill: The President's Explanation is Classic Distortion of Reality

- If the restriction looks like this, that someone can't grasp it [the morning-after pill for those 15 years and older], then we simply have a situation where we are restricting the rights of young people and further telling people that it's a hormonal bomb, which is not true. I submitted an interpellation asking how many undesirable reports there were regarding the effects of the morning-after pill within one year, and what the President is saying is simply a classic distortion of reality, in order to tell his radical environment that we do not agree with this – stated Aleksandra Gajewska on the program "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

- After the President's veto, the solution proposed by Minister Leszczyna is a solution that will allow some teenagers to receive real access to this pill, but it is not the solution we are ultimately expecting – she continued.

21:07

Gajewska:

Civic Coalition Wants Access to the "Morning After" Pill and Legal, Safe Abortion

- They want to limit our [men's] access to this, just as they want to decide whether we can terminate a pregnancy. Simply for some reason, incomprehensible to me, their conscience is more important than our decision, our health, our lives. I cannot understand this. That is why Civic Coalition clearly states: we want access to the "morning after" pill, we want legal, safe, accessible abortion up to the 12th week of pregnancy - said Aleksandra Gajewska on TVN24.

21:18

Hołownia:

Tusk and I Haven't Had a Single Conversation About Government Reshuffle. I See No Reason to Replace Any of Our Ministers
- In my assessment, Minister Hennig-Kloska is performing her mandate well, and I do not foresee any changes to the Poland 2050 team in Donald Tusk's government - Szymon Hołownia stated in "Pytanie dnia" on TVP Info. - We have not had a single conversation about a cabinet reshuffle. This is a topic that is very much alive in the media, and as I see, also in a part of political party commentary, however, there has not been a single such conversation - he continued. - I repeat once more, I see no reason to replace any of our female ministers who are in the government. I don't know why we should do that, since they are working well - he added.
