Zandberg on Health Contribution Reform Proposals: Is Poland's Economy Strong Enough to Grant a 10 or 12 Billion Zloty Gift to the Richest?
- The health contribution is money that we all pool together to ensure the functioning of public healthcare. These proposals from the liberals, which they have put on the table – I'm referring here to both Minister Domański's proposal and Ryszard Petru's proposal – mean taking billions of zlotys out of the public healthcare budget. In practice, this means that if there's less money, queues in hospitals and clinics will lengthen - said Adrian Zandberg on RMF24. - I would like to hear an answer to the question: is Poland really in such a good economic situation to now give a 10 or 12 billion zloty gift to the richest? If so, then I would like to hear why we are raising VAT to 5% on food - he continued.

07:31

Zandberg:

The President Should Sign the 'Morning-After Pill' Law
- I believe that the President should sign this law [...] I think this needs to be emphasized: the 'morning-after pill' is not an abortifacient; it is a means that simply prevents pregnancy - said Adrian Zandberg in the "Conversation at 7:00 AM" on RMF24. - It is worth listening to medical experts, it is worth listening to the Polish Gynecological Society, it is worth listening to doctors, and they are saying quite unequivocally that this means should simply be available - he continued.

07:40

Zandberg:

Sometimes I get the impression that those who talk a lot about a referendum on abortion are trying to hide how they will vote on the bill.
- Mr. Speaker Hołownia [...] spoke so loudly that abortion should not be discussed before the local elections, that he brought about the discussion of abortion becoming one of the main topics before the local elections, and I think this is an educational lesson because politicians do not have such power and such might to forbid people from thinking about something, talking about something, or considering something important - said Adrian Zandberg in RMF24. - I sometimes get the impression that those who talk a lot about a referendum are trying to hide, behind this talk about a referendum, the answer to the question of how they will vote for this bill in parliament - he continued.

Tusk:

Those Who Selflessly Dared to Stand Against Lies and Theft by the Authorities Several Years Ago Deserve Respect

- Those who selflessly dared to stand against the lies and theft by the authorities several years ago deserve respect. Especially from those who profited handsomely from cooperating with that authority. You know what I'm talking about - wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Twitter.

08:01

Zandberg:

We Will Submit a Bill to Change the Civil Law Transaction Tax. If Someone Buys an Apartment on Monday and Sells it on Wednesday, They Should Pay a Higher Rate.
- We currently have a problem where speculation on housing prices is pushing them very strongly upwards, and everyone who looks at how apartment prices have changed in big cities over the last year can see this. There are simple solutions to counteract this. The most obvious one is what we will submit in the form of a bill to parliament, i.e., changes to the civil law transaction tax (PCC) - said Adrian Zandberg on RMF24. - If someone trades in real estate such that they enter into an 8th, 10th, 15th, 20th apartment sale agreement, they should simply pay a significantly higher tax rate. If someone trades an apartment in such a way that they buy it on Monday and sell it on Wednesday, they should also pay a higher tax rate for this, because it is a completely different situation than if someone buys an apartment to meet their life needs. I think a 10% rate would cool down the heated minds of those who are already calculating profits from rising apartment prices - he continued.

Siemoniak on the Justice Fund: The Outcry of Sovereign Poland Politicians is Embarrassing

- These are symptoms of justified panic, because yesterday's arrest decisions confirm that the prosecutor's office and services are acting in the right direction. I think these people are speaking out this way because they are doing it out of fear. This is a fundamental crisis for this group, because the Justice Fund, the great work of the media, previously many materials on TVN on this subject, and now a very professional operation by the prosecutor's office and services, on a large scale (...) Here, the outcry of Sovereign Poland politicians is embarrassing - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Agata Adamek on the TVN24 program "Jeden na Jeden".

08:19

Siemoniak:

The Prosecution and Services Performed Immense Work for Weeks, 90 Volumes of Files. Yesterday's Decisions Are the Result of Many Weeks of Labor

- I believe that this case, which involves, and I'll emphasize, 90 volumes of files. It's not as if the prosecution and services just arrived because they had nothing and were looking for something against specific individuals. They performed immense work for weeks, 90 volumes of files. Yesterday's decisions are the result of many weeks of labor, not these searches. The searches were necessary, it was the prosecution that decided where they should occur. After all, it wasn't politicians saying "look here and there" - stated Tomasz Siemoniak on TVN24's program "Jeden na Jeden".

08:27

Siemoniak on Sovereign Poland MPs: Immunity Revocation Being Considered

- Yes, it is being analyzed from the perspective of revoking immunities. The search of parliamentarians' residences was certainly a very serious decision by the prosecutor's office, for which there were very detailed grounds, but what will happen next? We have the presumption of innocence. We all remember the press conference of Minister Ziobro, who was delivering verdicts on one of the doctors before anything was judged. We will not do that. Let this matter be clarified, then the prosecutor's office, and finally the Court, will decide who is guilty and who is not - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in the program 'One on One' on TVN24.

08:45

Fogiel:

As we can see, sacred cows appeared with the forceful, illegal takeover of the prosecutor's office by the current rulers
Of course, there are no sacred cows. That's why I would very much like the motions to lift the immunity of MP Brejza and Mr. Bańasi to return to the Sejm, and not for Bodnar's obedient prosecutor's office to withdraw them, as happened. Why did the case of Senator Grodzki, where over 250 people testified against him, fall off the court's docket? As we can see, sacred cows appeared with the forceful, illegal takeover of the prosecutor's office by the current rulers - stated Radosław Fogiel in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News's "Graffiti".

09:21

Fogiel:

Raids on a Dozen Apartments, Nearly 24 Hours Searching Ziobro's Residence Without His Presence – All Motivated by the Poor Showing of 100 Days in Government
- Raids on a dozen apartments, nearly 24 hours of searching Minister Ziobro's residence, without his presence, all of this is motivated by the fact that the first 100 days in government were perceived very poorly, that Poles started asking where the fuel at 5.19 [zloty per liter] is, where their tax-free allowance [of 60,000 zloty] is. I connect this embarrassment of the rulers with desperate attempts to cover it up - stated Radosław Fogiel on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

09:22

Fogiel:

Tusk is Gifting Poles High Prices for the Holidays

- I connect this embarrassment of the ruling party with desperate attempts to cover it up. It's hard not to link this, soon VAT on food will go up, the energy shield will end. Donald Tusk is gifting Poles high prices for the holidays - stated Radosław Fogiel on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

09:23

Bodnar on the Justice Fund: We are returning to a story that should have been clarified long ago
- I think the public might be a bit surprised that something is happening so suddenly, but please note that these irregularities concerning the Justice Fund were reported back in 2021 as a result of a Supreme Audit Office (NIK) report. Various notifications were filed, all cases were masterfully dismissed, proceedings were not conducted, and now we are actually returning to a story that should have been clarified a long time ago – stated Adam Bodnar on Radio ZET.

09:24

Bodnar:

The Material Gathered Was Sufficient to File Motions for Pre-Trial Detention
- I believe that the Prosecutor General, in particular, should be careful when speaking in such a way, that the evidence is solid, that this and that will surely happen. I am here to say that the material that was gathered was sufficient to file motions for pre-trial detention, and the court yesterday agreed to pre-trial detention in three cases, and I have the impression, and I am convinced, that the court had no doubts that detention should be applied – said Adam Bodnar on Radio ZET.

09:24

Szczerba on the Justice Fund: If the first crown witnesses emerge, investigators will quickly move from officials to politicians
- These first arrests and the court's initial approval for detention show that the case is very dynamic. If the first crown witnesses emerge, prosecutors and investigators will very quickly move from officials, who were simply carrying out their superiors' orders, to politicians. Because the decision that the Profeto foundation would receive 100 million PLN for the purchase of real estate and the construction of facilities in Wilanów, this decision was not made by a rank-and-file department employee. These were decisions at the level of Zbigniew Ziobro, he made these decisions, his deputies - said Michał Szczerba in an interview with Sylwia Białek on PR3's "Political Salon".

09:29

Fogiel on Local Elections: We Want PiS to Lead the Race
We would like to see PiS hold the palm of primacy in this race of political parties, because at these lower local government levels, there are indeed various local electoral committees. We want to win, to maintain as many regional assemblies as possible - stated Radosław Fogiel on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

09:53

Bodnar on the Wrzosek Case: If these reports are true, consequences should follow. Disciplinary, perhaps even criminal, responsibility
- An investigation into this matter has been ongoing for some time by the internal affairs department of the National Prosecutor's Office. We are treating the case with absolute seriousness and it should simply be thoroughly examined to determine if the reports published by Wirtualna Polska are true, and if so, appropriate consequences should be drawn. This could be disciplinary responsibility, perhaps even criminal responsibility; I would not want to prejudge anything at this stage - Adam Bodnar stated on Radio ZET, when asked about the case of prosecutor Wrzosek and the alleged submission of requests to courts to block PiS's actions concerning public media outside the prosecutor's office headquarters.

09:55

Szczerba:

The Visa Scandal Investigative Committee Does Not Plan to Summon Ziobro at This Stage
- Yesterday, as the chairman of the investigative committee on the visa scandal, I received a letter from the Marshal which contains an attachment: an email that Zbigniew Ziobro sent to Marshal Hołownia. On the one hand, it declares cooperation with investigative committees, but on the other hand, it largely makes his readiness dependent on an opinion from experts regarding his health. This is, I would say, on the one hand, a declaration, and on the other hand, setting some conditions - said Michał Szczerba in the "Political Salon of Trójka" on PR3. - At this stage, as the committee on the visa scandal, we do not plan to summon Zbigniew Ziobro, despite the fact that we will also analyze the prosecution's proceedings regarding the visa scandal, because we have numerous reservations regarding the clarification of many threads - he continued.

10:48

Tusk:

These are the Easter wishes we've been waiting for
  • Wages up, inflation down (1.9% - lowest in 5 years), strong zloty, GDP growing, record low unemployment. Last week, 9 billion PLN in demand for Polish treasury bonds. We are gradually steering the economy back on track. Healthy and family-oriented holidays – wrote Finance Minister Andrzej Domański on Twitter.
  • These are the Easter wishes we've been waiting for – replied Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The Left Submits Bill on Civil Law Transactions Tax Rates for Property Deals. 'We Are Further Taxing Flippers Themselves'
- This bill, which we will submit today as the Left parliamentary club, employs a simple mechanism, a mechanism to discourage flippers from this practice, which Marshal Magdalena Biejat described at the beginning. This law is intended to limit this phenomenon and help counteract situations where apartments are speculated upon, where their prices are artificially inflated. This speculation must end because such speculation in other, less critical areas is prohibited today – stated Dorota Olko at a press conference in the Sejm. - We are reaching here for the tool of the tax on civil law transactions. Today, the rate of this tax is 2%. With this bill that we will submit, we are introducing additional rates where property transactions have a speculative nature. [...] If an apartment is bought and resold again in a short period, we are introducing higher tax rates. If it is resold within a year, it will be 10%, within two years 6%, within three years 4% - she continued. - We are further taxing flippers themselves. That is, a person who buys more than two apartments within five years will pay higher tax rates - she added.

12:41

Trzaskowski:

Bocheński's Main Problem is Credibility

- I think Tobiasz Bocheński's main problem is precisely credibility, because many people accuse him of not knowing Warsaw. One can learn about Warsaw, but this is a person who should have been an independent official. A Voivode is an independent official who should have absolutely nothing to do with politics. Tobiasz Bocheński, when he was the Łódź Voivode for a long time, and then the Warsaw Voivode, behaved like a party stooge, like a party functionary, and today he is trying to present himself as a completely independent, calm person who has nothing to do with PiS. Today he claims to be a supporter of women's rights, that he would like to liberalize abortion law, he presents himself as a very liberal person - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in the program „Fakt Live”.

12:48

Trzaskowski on Presidential Elections: I've Learned to Never Say Never, Because I Don't Know What Will Happen in 1.5 Years. Today, I'm Focusing on Warsaw
- I'm surprised by questions of this type from Ms. Biejat, because literally three months ago she was campaigning for a seat in the Senate and then she's running in the local elections - stated Rafał Trzaskowski on the program „Fakt Live”. - That's how it sometimes is, that intentions do indeed change. Politics changes from month to month, and I've learned to never say never, because I don't know what will happen in a year and a half. It was exactly the same in 2020; it wouldn't have occurred to me that I would run for President of the Republic of Poland - he continued. - At the moment, I'm saying this clearly, that today I am focusing on Warsaw; I have a great deal to do this year. And as for what the presidential elections will look like, who the candidates from individual parties will be, that will all become clear next year - he stated.

13:08

Trzaskowski:

The Left is Making a Serious Mistake by Trying to Create the Impression That Local Government Alone Will Solve the Housing and Price Problem
- We are, of course, building apartments; during my term, I have handed over 12,000 apartments, and 3,000 are under construction. These include social housing, municipal housing, and affordable rental apartments. However, I believe the Left is making a serious mistake here, as it is trying to create the impression that local government alone will solve the problem of housing and housing prices - stated Rafał Trzaskowski on the program “Fakt Live”. - Local governments can help, […] help those people who are in a more difficult financial situation, people with disabilities, people with special needs. However, we will not solve the problem of housing prices on our own. Because the city's budget situation is improving, thank God, we will build even more affordable rental apartments, but this requires legislative solutions. Much more can be done here through the government, the Senate, and the Sejm, than through local governments alone - he continued.

13:15

President Vetoes Bill on Over-the-Counter 'Morning-After' Pill
- The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, acting on the basis of Article 122, paragraph 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, has decided to send the amendment to the Pharmaceutical Law back to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland with a request for reconsideration of the act (the so-called veto). The primary justification for the President of the Republic of Poland's decision is the will to respect the constitutional rights and the standard of healthcare for children - the Presidential Chancellery informed.

- The President, listening in particular to the voices of parents, could not accept legal solutions that enable children under eighteen years of age to access medicinal products for contraception without a doctor's consultation and bypassing the role and responsibility of parents - it was explained.

- Views and opinions on this matter were varied, both during the parliamentary works and in public debate. [...] However, during the work on the act, no convincing arguments were presented in favor of over-the-counter access to contraceptive drugs, particularly the medicinal product known as ellaOne, for women under eighteen years of age - reads the KPRP communique.

- The President declares openness to the solutions provided for in the discussed act with regard to adult women (after reaching the age of 18) - it was stated.

13:36

Paprocka:

Above all, the President listened to the voices of parents
Above all, the President listened to the voices of parents, which came through a very large volume of correspondence, and the President clearly stands by the necessity of protecting the rights and constitutional standard of healthcare for children. As for the consequences of the President's decision, the legal status remains unchanged. Medications, medicinal products, primarily related to contraception, and especially the medicinal product known as EllaOne, will be available under the current rules, meaning with a prescription. It is the President's conviction that for individuals under 18 years of age, due to health protection and parental rights, such medicinal products should be available under medical supervision - stated Małgorzata Paprocka at a press briefing.

14:11

Biejat:

A regulation allowing the dispensing of the "morning-after" pill with a pharmacist's prescription is a good idea, though it's a half-measure
- I certainly believe that it is a harmful idea [the provision in the draft law that the "morning-after" pill is available without a prescription for those over 18 years of age], because let's remember that the "morning-after" pill, according to information from the WHO and conducted studies, is safe regardless of the age at which it is taken, and it protects against unwanted pregnancy. I remind you, and I believe that young girls should have access to it just like adult women [...]. In general, the age of 15 was conservative, but it resulted from what is our law in Poland. I remind you, from the age of 15, one can legally have sexual intercourse, so let's decide on something - said Magdalena Biejat at a press conference. - This is a decision that we must discuss [whether to create a new draft law with the provision that it applies to individuals aged 18 and over], it is also the decision of the Minister of Health. [...] I think it is a good idea to, for now, while there is time, introduce a regulation allowing this pill to be dispensed on the basis of a pharmacist's prescription, although it is obviously a half-measure. As for changing the law, we will certainly discuss it. Personally, I would lean towards submitting such a bill, because it's better than nothing. But once again, I believe that dividing women into adults and those who are not adults according to their age is very harmful, because once again: a 13-year-old could get pregnant. I believe that this age difference should not exist at all; a woman who can get pregnant should have access to contraception - she continued.

15:03

Leszczyna on Duda's Decision: We Have a Regulation Prepared

- We have prepared a regulation that refers, of course, to the Act on health benefits financed from public funds and the Act on the pharmacy profession. We anticipate that within the framework of pharmaceutical care, following a pharmaceutical consultation, a pharmacist will be able to issue such a pharmacy prescription and provide the woman with this pill - stated Izabela Leszczyna on TVN24.

- I promised that this pill would be available on May 1st, and I would like to keep that word. This week, immediately after the holidays, we will submit the regulation for public consultations - added the Minister of Health.

The President Missed the Opportunity to Stand with Women. We're Implementing Plan B
- The President missed the opportunity to stand with women. We're implementing Plan B - wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on social media.

19:29

Fogiel:

It's not comforting that we live in wartime, but it's not something we haven't heard in the last dozen or so months

- It is not comforting [that we live in wartime] but at the same time it is not, let's not fool ourselves, something that we haven't heard before in terms of, I mean in the last few months, the last dozen or so months. We have been living in a completely new situation for some time now, and this too, it didn't happen yesterday, it unfortunately didn't happen two years ago either. I will recall the words spoken in Tbilisi by the late President Lech Kaczyński: Today Georgia, tomorrow Ukraine, then the Baltic countries, and then perhaps it will be time for my country, Poland. And of course, it is good that the Prime Minister of the Polish government is making the situation clear – stated Radosław Fogiel on Radio Zet.

19:30

Fogiel on Hołownia's Post about the "Morning-After" Pill: I Understand He's Trying to Make Up for Losses Among Women

- Marshal Hołownia, I understand that he is now trying to make up for those losses that have appeared within this specific electorate, when he did not want to put the projects concerning the liberalization of abortion to a vote in the Sejm, and now he is jumping in where he can, as represented by Marshal Hołownia, and more broadly, this is the prerogative of the president – said Radosław Fogiel on Radio Zet.

19:54

Bielan:

I wouldn't call PiS Kaczyński's private party, but it is certainly his signature project
- I wouldn't call it [the PiS party] a private party [of Kaczyński's], but it is certainly Jarosław Kaczyński's signature project, because he created Law and Justice [...] and I believe that his departure today would be not only terrible news for Law and Justice, but more broadly for the United Right - Adam Bielan said in an interview with Piotr Marciniak on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach".

19:59

Bielan:

The NIK's motion is a typical political stunt; NIK is an institution compromised by the Banasi clan
- The prosecutor's office is conducting proceedings regarding the fast track, because there are probably a series of proceedings concerning NCBR [National Centre for Research and Development] for various years, and there have also been arrests in this matter, for instance a few weeks ago, but the prosecutor's office has been investigating this for nearly a year [...] I have already been questioned as a witness in this investigation, I have answered all the prosecutor's questions, I have nothing to hide in this matter, I have handed over all the documents I was asked for [...]. This NIK motion is a typical political stunt; unfortunately, NIK is an institution compromised by the Banasi clan – said Adam Bielan on TVN24.

20:09

Bielan:

I've Never Been to NCBR, Żalek Supervised This Institution
- Towards the end, I had absolutely no trust in him [Jacek Żalek], we were very strongly in conflict [...] towards the end of his tenure [...]. We argued, we clashed very strongly precisely over the fast track, primarily over the largest project within the fast track, popularly known as the cable – Adam Bielan said on TVN24. - I have never been to the National Centre for Research and Development, I have never been to its headquarters, I have not attended any meeting of either the small or the large board, I did not supervise this institution, from beginning to end, Mr. Jacek Żalek supervised this institution – he continued.
