Tuesday's Political Agenda: Sejm on Budget and Pegasus Commission, Duda in Davos, Constitutional Tribunal on Public Media

At 10:00 AM, at the request of PiS MPs, a Constitutional Tribunal hearing will take place concerning regulations that, among other things, enable the liquidation and dissolution of companies constituting units of public radio and television broadcasting. Last year, the Constitutional Tribunal also issued a protective order prohibiting such actions. The hearing will be held by a 5-judge panel presided over by Julia Przyłębska. Judge Krystyna Pawłowicz is slated to be the rapporteur for the case.

At 10:00 AM, the Sejm will commence its proceedings with a short voting block, followed by the second reading of the government's bill on special solutions for the implementation of the 2024 budget law at 10:15 AM.

At 1:00 PM, the second reading of the government's 2024 budget bill will begin – the debate on this matter will last for the main part of the day, until 7:00 PM. At that time, a voting block will also take place, during which, among other things, the president of the Personal Data Protection Office will be appointed.

At 8:00 PM, the second reading of the draft resolution on the establishment of a parliamentary investigative committee regarding Pegasus will commence.

President Andrzej Duda is beginning his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where at 10:45 AM he will meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, at 3:30 PM with the President of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation Nobumitsu Hayashi, and at 4:00 PM he will participate in a discussion titled “Foreign Direct Investment in Central and Eastern Europe: Risks and Opportunities”.

At 5:10 PM, a meeting of the head of state with representatives of the Polish media will take place, and at 6:30 PM he will participate in the opening of an exhibition on Russian war crimes in Ukraine. The last item on the agenda is participation in a dinner at 7:50 PM.

08:00

Joński:

Much Depends on the President Himself, How Much He Can Free Himself from Decisions and Orders from Nowogrodzka Street

- A lot depends on the president himself, how much he is able to free himself from decisions and, yes, orders from Nowogrodzka Street. I have the impression that the last few weeks have been solely and exclusively about decisions from Kaczyński's Nowogrodzka Street, and each subsequent decision is worse than the previous one - stated Dariusz Joński in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

08:09

Joński:

We Are Ready for Reconciliation, But That Doesn't Change the Fact That These 8 Years Must Be Accounted For

- However, certain reckonings must be made. If he [the president of unity] wants it, then by all means. We are ready for reconciliation, but that does not change the fact that these 8 years must be accounted for, that the law was broken, that there was impunity, lawlessness, chaos, anarchy in the justice system, the creation of a justice system designed to protect its own, and perhaps the last act of this was the detention or harboring of Wąsik and Kamiński in the Presidential Palace - stated Dariusz Joński in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

08:13

Joński on Ziobro and Barski: I Can Imagine That the Most Important Decisions Regarding Key Investigations Were Made at a Single Family Table

- Please note that the Prosecutor General, who is also the Minister of Justice, is somehow connected to the National Prosecutor, as the latter was a witness at his wedding and, in effect, the godfather of his child. I can imagine that the most important decisions regarding key investigations were made at a single family table. I have never questioned this, and the media have confirmed it many times, which is why I maintain that I can imagine that the most important decisions were made at a single family table - stated Dariusz Joński in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

08:19

Manowska:

Wąsik and Kamiński Retain Their Parliamentary Mandates
- In my opinion, [Maciej Wąsik and Mariusz Kamiński] have parliamentary mandates because the Chamber of Control annulled the Speaker's decision. The second ruling from the Chamber of Labour concerns only MP Kamiński, firstly. Secondly, it was issued under conditions of invalidity because this matter was subject to res judicata - said the First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Manowska, in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Radio ZET.

08:23

Manowska:

It's neither the Marshal's nor the Prime Minister's competence to determine whether a chamber is a court or not
- We have Article 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the so-called principle of legality – every public body should act within the bounds of the law and its competences. It is neither the Marshal's nor the Prime Minister's competence to determine whether a chamber, or a court, is a court or not – Małgorzata Manowska stated on "Gość Radia ZET". - ECJ rulings are, of course, a problem for the Polish judiciary that needs to be solved, and it is the task of politicians. However, in this case [Wąsik and Kamiński], the ECJ ruling was not applicable, as the Control Chamber was not exercising judicial power, it was not resolving a dispute between citizens – she continued.

08:24

Joński:

A Proposal to Fix the Constitutional Tribunal Will Be Presented

- To fix the Constitutional Tribunal – a proposal on how to do it will be presented, because to build a state of law and what we want, which is a fair state, this Constitutional Tribunal must be fixed - stated Dariusz Joński in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

- I cannot tell you at this moment what it will look like, because experts and ministers are working on it, and the leaders will likely communicate it, but we are committed to ensuring that after this change, people will believe that this [Constitutional Tribunal] is a body that is needed, that is not on call, not for protecting its colleagues, but that is real and has immense credibility. It will be very difficult, but it is possible - he continued.

08:31

Joński:

I Won't Hide the Fact That the Idea of Questioning Ziobro Is Emerging

- At this moment, it hasn't been voted on yet that he [Zbigniew Ziobro] will be a witness, but after Jarosław Gowin's testimony, and before the testimonies of further individuals, including Prosecutor Wrzosek among others, I won't hide the fact that such an idea is emerging, to question [Zbigniew Ziobro]. The simplest way is to appoint an expert who will assess his health condition - stated Dariusz Joński in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

08:32

Czarnek:

There is an unlawful attempt to forcibly remove Prosecutor Barski
- Prosecutor Barski was forcibly removed, there is an unlawful attempt at forcible removal. The President's opinion must be sought for the removal of the National Prosecutor. Was this opinion sought? No – said Przemysław Czarnek during the "Morning Interview" on RMF FM.

08:33

Manowska on the Situation in the Supreme Court: I'm Losing Myself. We're Heading for Disaster
- I would say that it's still chaos [the situation in the Supreme Court]. Although the stance of our more senior colleagues in service at the Supreme Court is evolving, as initially they claimed we were judges but shouldn't adjudicate, we held joint assemblies, collegiums. At the moment, I hear they will not participate in assemblies, collegiums - said Małgorzata Manowska on "Gość Radia ZET". - I'm losing myself. In my opinion, we are heading for disaster. Polish society behaves like two hostile tribes, and please note that this has been going on for about 20 years - she stated.

08:36

Czarnek:

PiS Protests Exclusively Within the Law and Will Continue to Do So Today
- Law and Justice protests exclusively within the bounds of the law, and will continue to do so today. [...] We will not do anything that disrupts the Sejm's deliberations, we will not do anything that blocks the Sejm's deliberations, we will not do anything that is contrary to the law - stated Przemysław Czarnek on RMF FM. - We will not block the parliamentary rostrum, we will not block the Sejm's deliberations - he continued.

08:42

Czarnek:

Tusk is Using Criminal Threats
- These are criminal threats from Mr. Tusk [towards Adam Glapiński], which he utters almost daily; we are used to it. [...] If someone is constantly saying 'you will sit,' 'you will be held accountable,' Mr. Tusk, then take this matter to court. We will defend ourselves there in court, but don't bring those thugs, as you did to public television, or as you are trying to do to the National Prosecutor's Office, because that is Marxist, typically totalitarian action - said Przemysław Czarnek on RMF FM.

08:43

Manowska:

I've known President Duda for 17 years. We visit each other privately from time to time, but he has never asked me for anything that would disrupt the separation of powers.
- It depends - said Małgorzata Manowska on "Gość Radia ZET" when asked if judges should meet with politicians. Posed the question of whether President Andrzej Duda paid her a visit before the arrest of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, she replied: That's a very original idea, that the President, having learned about the district court's decision, jumps into a limousine, drives to me, a prominent expert in criminal law, especially the law of pardon. That is, of course, sarcasm [...]. There was a meeting. I have known the President for over 17 years and I would be a hypocrite if I denied this acquaintance. - We have visited each other and still do from time to time, also privately. I visited the President and the First Lady in Krakow, and the presidential couple visits me from time to time. I can describe it [that we are friends] - stated the First President of the Supreme Court. - I do not consider it appropriate to discuss the ballet achievements of my granddaughter or my grandson's interest in aviation specifically in the President's office. We have known each other for 17 years, I do not deny this acquaintance, but I want to emphasize that our friendship has one jointly established boundary – the President has never asked me for anything that would be inappropriate or disrupt the separation of powers, nor do I discuss such matters privately with the President - she pointed out.

08:47

Czarnek:

Wąsik and Kamiński are MPs; Our MPs next in line from the list will certainly not take these seats
- Mr. Wąsik and Mr. Kamiński are MPs, they hold parliamentary mandates, and there is no possibility of filling these seats. Our MPs next in line from the list will certainly not take these non-vacant mandates - said Przemysław Czarnek on RMF FM.

08:48

Hołownia:

I Believe Bodnar Has a Systemic Idea. This Entire Situation Should Be Managed, As Much As Possible, in an Atmosphere of Conversation Among All Participants

- I understand what Minister Bodnar is saying. I believe he has some systemic idea for resolving this entire situation, but I think this entire situation should be managed, as much as is possible, in an atmosphere of conversation among all participants in this game. However, some form of dialogue, some attempt to find a way out of this clinch, in which we often find ourselves when trying to change the state, and above all, it should be, and I believe it will be, explained in the government's communication, explained and shown that this is not about political vendettas, but about an attempt to save a patient, which is the justice system, and I hope this will happen quickly - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

08:51

Manowska:

The President Didn't Ask Me About the Kamiński and Wąsik Case Because He Knows I'm Not Familiar with It
- He didn't ask me [the president about the Kamiński and Wąsik case] because he knows I'm simply not familiar with it. The President has his own advisors. The President visited me that day [January 8th] because I had undergone a rather complicated operation. He simply stopped by on his way to some public event to ask about my health. He's done that before. We meet, we have met, and we will continue to meet - said Małgorzata Manowska on 'Gość Radia ZET'.

08:53

Hołownia:

Amending the Constitution Would Require the Opposition's Will and Decision. The Question is Whether PiS Would Be Ready for It

I haven't discussed this idea [amending the Constitution] with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. I understand it's an idea, not yet a political proposal formulated by our circle. However, it's an interesting idea. The only question is whether it's feasible, and that's what we need to discuss first, because I wouldn't want us to throw more ideas to the wind, ideas that would fly for a moment and be headlines in the media, only to find out later that nothing came of them. We all know very well that amending the Constitution would require the will and decision of the opposition, and that PiS would also have to engage in this procedure. The question is whether they would be ready for it," stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

08:55

Hołownia:

I Will Vote to Defend Sienkiewicz. The Second Step Proves Effective

- Yes, I will vote to defend Minister Sienkiewicz, because I believe that even if the first step he took proved ineffective, the second one proved effective or is proving effective - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

08:57

Czarnek:

We Are Only Informing That Law is Being Broken in Poland. We Are Not Appealing to External Bodies to Interfere
- They blocked and wanted to block Poles' money. We are not doing that, we are only informing that here in Poland, law is being broken. [...] In any of these letters, is there an appeal for external bodies, e.g., the European Union, the UN, or anyone else, to interfere in Polish affairs? There is no such sentence. It is only information that the law is being broken here. They, on the other hand, initiated the CJEU, they, on the other hand, blocked our money, ours, all Poles' money - said Przemysław Czarnek on RMF FM.

08:59

Hołownia:

PKW Has Not Yet Sent Us Any Correspondence Indicating the Next Person to Take the Mandate After Kamiński

- Regarding the procedure for filling mandates, nothing has changed in this matter since my last announcements. The National Electoral Commission (PKW) has not yet sent us any correspondence indicating the next person to take the mandate after MP Kamiński. I have not initiated the procedures in the case of MP Wąsik for reasons I have repeatedly stated. I must have complete data from the Supreme Court (SN) – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

09:00

Manowska:

The Speaker of the Sejm Broke the Rules of the Separation of Powers
- Everything in the Control Chamber took place lege artis, and I believe that these accusations regarding the President's visit to me are an attempt to cover up the excess of the Speaker and the President of the Chamber of Labor. There was a clear request, and the Speaker admitted this, for the President of the Chamber of Labor to appoint an appropriate composition, whatever that might mean. He had no right to do that – Małgorzata Manowska said on "Gość Radia ZET". - He certainly broke the rules of the separation of powers. The Speaker is a body evaluated by the Control Chamber, and an organ should not ask for the appointment of a proper composition. He certainly broke the regulations of the chamber and the ethical principles of the President of the Chamber of Labor – she assessed.

09:05

Hołownia:

Blocking the podium, physically obstructing parliamentary sessions, is not something that serves anyone. People have had enough of wars.

- As for what will happen in the Sejm, you know, I am not the master or programmer of MPs, I don't know what they will do. I know that some excesses, blocking the podium, physically obstructing parliamentary sessions, is not something that serves anyone. People have had enough of wars, enough squabbles and would like to see people who, while naturally differing from each other, still maintain some form of mutual respect - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

09:19

Hołownia:

I Expect a Heated Discussion, Speeches, a Spirited Sejm, but Not Anarchy

- I expect a heated discussion, speeches, I expect a spirited Sejm, but I do not expect anarchy, and I hope I will not be disappointed - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

10:26

Wives of Kamiński and Wąsik in the Sejm

The wives of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik – Barbara Kamińska and Roma Wąsik – are present in the parliamentary gallery. They are accompanied by Błażej Poboży, the new presidential advisor. PiS MPs greeted the women with applause.

10:30

Błaszczak Demands Action to Restore Mandates for Kamiński and Wąsik
- I am requesting a change in the conduct of the proceedings and the inclusion of a point on the agenda concerning a debate on the unlawful imprisonment of MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, and an attack on the prosecution. Koalicja 13 grudnia (Coalition of December 13), you say that criminals belong in prison; I want to remind you that MPs Kamiński and Wąsik fought corruption throughout their political lives; they were punished for fighting corruption, while your politicians receive awards for corruption - said Mariusz Błaszczak during a Sejm session. - Mr. Speaker, I am submitting a letter demanding action to enable Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik to exercise their parliamentary mandates. We have also filed a request with the prosecution regarding the suspicion of you exceeding your authority. Perhaps this is why the takeover of the prosecution is being carried out so hastily - he continued.

10:39

Hołownia:

Most of the issues Błaszczak wanted to ask about will be clarified in the government's information. We will work on this tomorrow
- I want to inform you that most of the issues that Mr. MP [Mariusz Błaszczak] was kind enough to ask about, or which he was kind enough to raise, will, as I understand it, be clarified in the information that you wished to submit, or the request for this information that you wished to submit to the Prime Minister. We will proceed with this tomorrow – stated Szymon Hołownia in the Sejm. - Regarding the announcement of a motion to the prosecutor's office concerning my actions, of course, I welcome it. I will very gladly, before all state bodies, explain precisely and clearly what was behind the steps I took – he added.

10:51

Kamiński’s Letter Published:

Tusk’s Vile Regime Cannot Break Us.

A photo of a handwritten letter has been published on Mariusz Kamiński's social media account.

*My dears, thank you very much for your support, for your solidarity with me and Maciek, for words of encouragement for our loved ones, for your prayers. I ask and appeal, fight the evil that has reappeared in our Country on December 13th. We are holding strong! Our enemies will never see white flags in our hands. Tusk’s vile regime cannot break us. We will manage. We will win. Together we will defend Poland* – we read.

11:24

Biejat on Kamiński and Wąsik: The Decision Should Be Based on Legal Premises and Their Health Condition

- I believe that this decision should be based on legal premises and on the health condition of both gentlemen. I also have no doubt that PiS, together with the President, will unfortunately use every decision to their advantage. Here, it doesn't really matter much whether Messrs. Kamiński and Wąsik remain in prison or are released. If they remain in prison, Kaczyński and Duda will thunder that they are political prisoners; if they are released, they will be used to storm the Sejm, organize demonstrations, and disrupt the parliament's work; either way, this will happen - stated Magdalena Biejat in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on the program "Sedno sprawy" on Radio Plus.

- I am convinced that they [the prison service] will do everything to also take care of the health condition of Messrs. Wąsik and Kamiński. I am convinced that Minister Bodnar will also take these issues into consideration, I have no doubt about that - she added.

11:25

Biejat:

Statements from the Prime Minister and Minister Duszczyk Are Highly Disturbing

- I believe that the statements coming from the Prime Minister and Minister Duszczyk, who is supposed to deal with migration, are highly disturbing. This is because push-backs de facto mean that innocent people who arrive, trying to get to Poland from war-torn countries like Syria. The absolute majority of these people, according to the information we have, are fleeing countries engulfed in conflict, taking this particular route, because of course, it varies – stated Magdalena Biejat on the program “Sedno sprawy” on Radio Plus.

11:27

Biejat on the Number of Ministers in the New Government: "This is indeed a rather unfortunate situation from a PR perspective"
Regarding the reasons for such decisions and why so many people are needed, you must ask the government representatives. However, I am not a member of this government, and therefore I do not make personnel decisions. This is indeed a rather unfortunate situation from a PR perspective, but I also assume, because I know how ministers work. The point is that there are a lot of matters to attend to. Are the people who are now in the positions of ministers and deputy ministers, and I know this because I meet with them on various matters, doing nothing? Quite the opposite, these are people who work for over a dozen hours a day, including weekends - stated Magdalena Biejat in the program "Sedno sprawy" on Radio Plus.

11:33

Kaczyński:

There is no plan for obstruction. There are simply spontaneous acts of solidarity with two persecuted individuals.

- No, there is no plan for obstruction. There are simply spontaneous acts of solidarity with two persecuted, very honest and deserving individuals for Poland – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in a conversation with the media in the Sejm.

11:36

Kaczyński:

There is no Supreme Court ruling. The chamber that issued the ruling on the expiry of mandates broke the law

- There is no Supreme Court ruling, because the chamber that made such a ruling [on the expiry of Kamiński and Wąsik's mandates] simply has no authority to make such rulings. This is all a great violation of the law. Simply put, the Polish state is currently in a state of great crisis, which PO [Civic Platform] led to with their rule. I hope the time will come when its representatives will sit in the dock – said Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with the media in the Sejm.

- Ladies and gentlemen, I cannot order anything in this matter [regarding the non-acceptance of mandates after MPs Kamiński and Wąsik], but I am counting on their loyalty – he added.

11:44

Grabiec on Pawłowicz and Barski: One could say a colleague did a favor for a colleague

- It is worth remembering that Krystyna Pawłowicz was a PiS MP until recently, and Prosecutor Barski is also a former PiS MP. So one could say that a colleague did a favor for a colleague, but this has nothing to do with the constitutional duties of the Constitutional Tribunal or with Polish law. Therefore, such cronyism cannot be the basis for the functioning of the justice system alongside the work of the government - stated Jan Grabiec in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

11:52

Grabiec:

No Legal Grounds for Early Elections

- There are no legal grounds for early elections. Naturally, abstracting from the current political situation, in terms of the legal basis for elections, from the perspective of the ruling camp, subsequent elections in a short period would allow for an increase in the number of seats in the Sejm and perhaps securing more seats, at least in a number sufficient to reject a presidential veto. So from a political point of view, it could be seen as something that could bring benefit, but the stability of the state is more important. If there are no legal, constitutional grounds for early elections, then we owe it to the people to fulfill our duties as a government - stated Jan Grabiec in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

13:14

Witek:

The December 13th Coalition Thought We'd Block the Podium. We Have Different Methods, We Are Legalists.

- This morning, entering this chamber, we saw a strange sight. The December 13th coalition is occupying the podium and the Marshal's seat. It truly reminded us of what happened in 2016. Did you think we would block the podium, prevent the budget from being passed? But we have completely different methods of operation. We are legalists, we act in accordance with the law – stated Elżbieta Witek in the Sejm.

13:53

Klimczak:

Truckers' Protest at the Polish-Ukrainian Border to Cease by March 1st
- The protest will be suspended by March 1st, but this does not mean the end of dialogue. On the contrary, we are beginning very intensive, constructive talks that are intended to yield concrete results: the implementation of the provisions we have negotiated. They are meant to intensely realize everything that the truckers and representatives of the committees who signed an agreement with us today are postulating. There is a great deal of work ahead of us – said Dariusz Klimczak at a press conference.

13:56

Klimczak:

We Want Our Relations with Ukraine to be Reciprocal
- What does our agreement entail? It contains seven points, behind which lie many matters, including the first point, which concerns monitoring the implementation of agreements reached by the Polish and Ukrainian sides. It includes five very important issues, which, among other things, concern the complete exclusion of the Malhowice-Niżankowice road border crossing from the e-queue system as part of a pilot program. This also pertains to monitoring the Ukrainian side's declarations regarding the duration of stay for heavy goods vehicles registered outside Ukrainian territory […]. These points also have a further history; we will also discuss these reciprocities. We would like our relations with Ukraine to be reciprocal – stated Dariusz Klimczak at a press conference. - The second point concerns our dialogue with the EU regarding the agreement, the third point concerns talks with the EC as well, regarding obtaining financial support for Polish entrepreneurs in the road transport sector. The fourth and extremely important point concerns internal issues and strengthening the control system of Polish services, police, KAS, and the Road Transport Inspectorate in terms of eliminating unauthorized transport not covered by the EU-Ukraine agreement – he continued.

16:06

Tusk:

The Machine Has Started
And meanwhile, we are handling people's affairs: the budget by the end of the week, the border unblocked, 800+ for everyone faster than planned in the act. The machine has started - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Twitter.

17:18

Bosacki:

Brejza's surveillance during the election campaign justifies comparing the Pegasus affair to Watergate
- Pegasus was created to pursue serious criminals, especially terrorists. Meanwhile, in Poland, it was used against the political opposition. It was used by the PiS government against democrats. Many of them, many of those who were under surveillance with this cyber weapon, this tool of total surveillance, are sitting here with us today in this chamber – stated Marcin Bosacki in the Sejm. - The fact that Krzysztof Brejza – I repeat: the head of the election campaign for the largest opposition force against PiS – was surveilled for 6 months during the election campaign with a tool of total surveillance, installing Pegasus on his phones over 30 times, justifies comparing this Pegasus affair to the Watergate affair in the 1970s in the USA – he continued.

17:51

Duda on Wąsik and Kamiński: The gentlemen fought corruption decisively and ruthlessly

- Thanks to the determination, integrity, and extraordinary dedication to Poland, primarily of Minister Mariusz Kamiński, but also his colleagues, including Minister Wąsik, the Central Anticorruption Bureau was established, and the fight against corruption began decisively. This has led to the fact that today, among Central European countries and European countries in general, we are the place with the least corruption. There is the least corruption in Poland today. Today, a clear and undisputed characteristic that determines whether a state is truly modern and can develop is precisely the absence of such a pathology as corruption - stated President Andrzej Duda in Davos during a meeting with representatives of Polish media.

- The gentlemen fought corruption decisively; they believed that it should be fought ruthlessly. This is their conviction regarding state matters, and in essence, therefore, a political conviction - he added.

17:55

Duda:

For Me, Kamiński and Wąsik Are Pardoned

- I exercised the act of grace towards them in 2015. Absolutely in accordance with all constitutional canons that speak of pardons. In 2015, I pardoned both gentlemen ministers, which is why I always say and will continue to say. For me, they are pardoned, both gentlemen received presidential clemency - stated President Andrzej Duda at a press briefing in Davos.

19:24

Duda Meets Zelensky in Davos

In Davos, where the World Economic Forum is underway, a meeting took place between President Andrzej Duda and President Volodymyr Zelensky.

19:45

Schetyna:

Parliament Will Manage to Pass and Send Budget to President on Time
- Parliament will definitely [manage to pass the budget by the end of the month], approving and sending it to President Duda. [...] I believe these are not scenarios [dissolution of the Sejm and early elections] that someone will write. The budget-related act is important today; we [as the Senate] will vote on it tomorrow. This is significant because it contains the three billion [zlotys] that were intended for public television but will now go towards child psychiatry - Grzegorz Schetyna stated in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:49

Gajewska:

The 'morning-after' pill should be a right and a choice for every woman, not a privilege for the few

- The 'morning-after' pill should be a right and a choice for every woman, not a privilege available to a few. We are changing the law for the better - wrote Deputy Minister Aleksandra Gajewska on Twitter.

19:54

Schetyna on the Court's Decision Regarding Kamiński and Wąsik: A Kind of Historical Justice, the Court Has Shown That Justice Is on the Side of Those Harmed by the CBA
- Generally, no [I don't feel satisfaction that Kamiński and Wąsik are in prison]. I don't know if this is popular, I'm not a proponent of such harsh solutions. This isn't a new or fresh issue, it's not a matter of political revenge - Grzegorz Schetyna said on Polsat News. - This is a case from many, many years ago, only it is on the table today and today it creates a political problem for PiS, for us, for everyone, but it is also a kind of summary, a historical justice, as some might say, I would also take that into account, because after all, those families, people harmed by these CBA activities in the years 2006-2007, mainly 2007 [...] the court, with this ruling, with this verdict, shows that justice is on the side of those who were harmed - he continued.

20:01

Jaki:

The 'System' Wants to Send a Signal – Don't Investigate High-Level Corruption, or You'll End Up Like Kamiński and Wąsik

- In my opinion, let's not kid ourselves, in Poland, networks and people experienced in operating within this system are still in place, and they know this very well. Simply put, the 'system' wants to send a signal – don't investigate high-level corruption, because you'll end up like them [Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik] – stated Patryk Jaki in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

20:04

Schetyna:

If Kamiński and Wąsik are to be released from prison, the President should decide
- I am surprised by the President's declarations here, because he could have pardoned Kamiński and Wąsik, and they would be home by now. [...] I am surprised that there is no conversation between the President and the Prosecutor General, the Minister of Justice. This is not a matter for such a political ping-pong and for sending information from Davos. What is it supposed to serve? Building the legend of arrested or convicted PiS politicians? - said Grzegorz Schetyna in Polsat News. - I would want the law in Poland to mean law, and justice - justice, meaning I would really want that if this matter is to end with their release from prison, then I truly believe that the President should decide here, the one who spoke about it, speaks of their innocence, speaks of the history. He does not want to admit that he made a mistake back then - he continued.

20:10

Schetyna:

Prosecutor General Used Formal Shortcomings in National Prosecutor Appointment (in a good sense of the word)
- The Prosecutor General utilized formal shortcomings in the appointment of the National Prosecutor... in a good sense of the word, he had the opportunity to do so, so he did it. [...] I am a proponent of the idea that if the team that lost the elections [...] if a new team comes in, the Prosecutor General must have the right and the opportunity to build their team with whom they want to cooperate - said Grzegorz Schetyna on Polsat News.

20:16

Schetyna on Kosiniak-Kamysz's Proposal Regarding the Constitutional Tribunal Composition: The Conversation Can Be Held After the Presidential Elections
- The conversation is important because there's a question of how to write these regulations, how to find independent judges and lawyers who will form the Constitutional Tribunal. I believe that we can return to or undertake this conversation after the presidential elections [...]. Right now, it seems to me that there are so many emotions that today is probably not the best time - Grzegorz Schetyna said on Polsat News, when asked about Kosiniak-Kamysz's proposal to write a new chapter of the Constitution that would change the entire composition of the Constitutional Tribunal.

Borowski:

Duda's actions, trading Kamiński and Wąsik for political gain, are disgusting and serve to create a new myth akin to Smolensk.

- For political purposes, he [Andrzej Duda] is trading these people [Kamiński and Wąsik], that's how it looks. And at the same time, he's trying to paint Adam Bodnar as some kind of predator who is just waiting to put them away. And then to torment them, starve them, etc. It's quite disgusting, all in all. Of course, I understand it from PiS's political point of view. In the sense that PiS has found itself in a very difficult situation and is trying to create a myth, just as there was the Smolensk myth – stated Marek Borowski on the program "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

Kamiński:

Kaczyński Failed His Own Political Camp, Because That Political Camp Lost

- I want to tell you that what we are witnessing today, this spectacle, is a spectacle that is not even based on PiS's tactics. It is a spectacle designed to distract PiS activists, who today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow will lose their jobs, from the fact that Jarosław Kaczyński failed his own political camp, because that political camp lost – said Michał Kamiński in the program 'Kropka nad i' on TVN24.
