At 8:50 AM, on the occasion of Polish Army Day, Civic Platform leader Grzegorz Schetyna will lay flowers at the monument to Józef Piłsudski in Warsaw. Following the floral tribute, a press briefing will be held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. At 9:00 AM, a delegation from the Polish People's Party (PSL) will lay flowers at the monument to Wincenty Witos.

President Andrzej Duda will participate in the Polish Army Day celebrations taking place in Katowice. A holy mass will be celebrated for the homeland at 10:30 AM, followed by the laying of a wreath before the Monument to the Silesian Uprisings at 11:45 AM.

At 12:00 PM, the President will present general and admiral nominations, as well as state decorations. At 1:40 PM, the President will review the "Faithful to Poland" parade.

Following this, a parade celebrating Polish Army Day, under the banner "Faithful to Poland," will take place in Katowice, attended by the country's most important figures. According to the Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, the event aims to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First Silesian Uprising and to pay tribute to "the residents of Upper Silesia who decided that Silesia would become part of Poland."

- From what one hears from PO activists, for example, Paweł Poncyljusz's sudden emergence, like a rabbit out of a hat in Podkarpacie, has significantly surprised local activists. If I were in Civic Platform, I would be a little irritated that the party headquarters doesn't appreciate, didn't decide in a situation where the mayor of Rzeszów withdrew, not to strengthen anyone who is active locally, but instead brings in a former PiS activist – stated Radosław Fogiel in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Polityczne Graffiti".

- Regarding this, no, I am not worried at all, because he is a person who will not appeal to our voters in any way. The facts are that Paweł Poncyljusz, along with Paweł Kowal, the first name on the PO list, and MP Kluzik-Rostkowska, they decided to leave PiS at a difficult time in 2010 after the Smolensk catastrophe, and I think our voters, on the contrary, believe that these are people who cannot be trusted, so if it comes to them stealing votes from PiS, I wouldn't worry about that – added the deputy spokesperson for PiS.

- Next year, on August 15, 2020, will be the tròn, hundredth anniversary of this battle, this event. I will recall the grand announcements about the construction of the Museum of the Battle of Warsaw of 1920. Nothing has been done in this matter. It is the last year where there are empty announcements, empty words, but no substance, no concrete action. I also want to make a commitment. We will do everything to win the elections on October 13th of this year, but I also want to say that after a victorious election in October, we will worthily prepare for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw in 2020. This is our commitment, we have spoken about it many times. This museum must be built, it is the commitment of every Polish government. I am convinced that this also applies to the government that will be formed after the elections on October 13th - stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a press briefing.

– The Polish army does not guarantee the safety of Polish women and men. What is happening today regarding Polish security is a great challenge. 70% of procurement and investment related to armament is currently located abroad. This is different from the times of the PO-PSL government. We will return to the good traditions of investing in the Polish arms industry, in production plants. We will do this in a completely different way than what stems from the transactional, purchasing policy pursued by the current government. Finally, a commitment we take very seriously. It is not exploiting national symbols, the Polish Army, for current politics, for party politics, because that is how we assess what is happening, and what will happen in Katowice today. The August 15th celebrations, the Day of the Polish Army, will take place in Katowice because it is the electoral district of the currently ruling Prime Minister. This is a disgraceful and indecent treatment of the Polish Army, national symbols, and this date – stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a press briefing.

- We invited you here today to present the banner under which the Left's list will contest the parliamentary elections. This banner will appear on billboards, on election leaflets, and finally, importantly, the graphic symbol has been registered and will be found on the ballot papers that voters will encounter at polling stations when they go to vote in October - stated Adrian Zandberg at a briefing before the Sejm.

What we did yesterday is a result of the fact that there are three weeks until the lists are registered, and thus three weeks to collect signatures. We will collect the signatures without a problem. We can collect the signatures within a week, we can collect them within two days. But within one day, Your Honor, we won't manage. We simply won't. That's why we did it. - On the day of the court's registration, it will be immediately entered into the PKW records. We want this together, but now we know one thing. This is an action. The entry, the logo is entered, it's the logo under which we will be everywhere, we will be collecting signatures, appearing on television, being studied by polling agencies. This is the official logo of the Polish left - added the leader of the SLD.

- On October 25, 1918, Wojciech Korfanty delivered a memorable speech in the German Reichstag, stating that he was calling for Upper Silesia to become part of Poland. These were the first words spoken in that forum. It's another matter that it was precisely from that time that the German civil and military authorities began a harsher anti-Polish policy, which ultimately led to the outbreak that occurred on the night of August 16-17. The first one, then there were two more, but when we consider them together, we are aware of one thing. The Silesian Uprisings prevailed. Glory to the Silesian insurgents. This is a great day for Upper Silesia, for the Polish, Silesian land. For all those who have lived here for generations and whose grandfathers and great-grandfathers bravely fought for Poland with weapons in hand - said President Andrzej Duda during the ceremony of awarding general nominations in Katowice.

As "Wyborcza" has learned, due to Jarosław Wałęsa's appearance in 2nd place on the Civic Coalition's electoral list in Gdańsk, Agnieszka Pomaska may take the top spot, and the head of the PO-KO club, Sławomir Neumann, will fall to third place – as reported by the Tricity GW after Wednesday's Civic Platform board meeting.

As GW writes: "In the first version of the Civic Coalition's list in the Gdańsk constituency, Sławomir Neumann, as the head of Pomeranian PO structures, reserved the 'number one' spot for himself. As President of the Republic, I will never sign a bill that would undermine what those who have served the Republic and their loved ones left behind receive - said President Andrzej Duda during the ceremony of awarding general nominations in Katowice.

- This is an extraordinary day. This is the Day of the Polish Army. Together we will celebrate with the soldiers of the Polish Army. Together we will show pride in being Polish. We will thank the soldiers of the Polish Army for their daily service - said Mariusz Błaszczak before the "Faithful to Poland" parade in Katowice.

And I am convinced that in this way we show Poland's unity, fidelity to Poland. That in this way we also fulfill the legacy and testament of Wojciech Korfanty, a great Pole, a Silesian, who always fought for the Polishness of these lands - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Katowice.

- Today, thanking President Andrzej Duda for his care for the Polish Army, I also want to promise as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland that we will do everything to ensure the Polish Army is perfectly armed in modern times, and that its modernization proceeds as quickly as possible, because we know very well that today's enemy does not always attack with an open visor. Sometimes these are hybrid threats, in cyberspace. Therefore, the modernization of the Polish Army also includes areas that rely on the most modern armament. On fighting in cyberspace, and here we have increasingly better achievements, increasingly perfect equipment and weapons - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Katowice.

- Today is a good time ahead of us. The dreams of our fathers, our grandfathers, who drew the borders of Poland with their blood, can come true. Their dreams of building a strong, just, and solidary Polish Republic can come true. This was also a dream expressed at that time by Wojciech Korfanty, and today we are on the right path to fulfilling their legacy, their testament. May God protect Poland, the Polish army, and the Polish soldier - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Katowice.

- The President was referring to a different matter. Namely, in recent days, information has appeared on social media, spread through shares and with the hope that it is not true, that there are some talks about reducing pensions for retired soldiers, as well as pensions for the spouses of soldiers who died on foreign missions. This is what the President was referring to. He said that it is undignified and shameful for someone to insinuate such situations. The President, with full force and determination, stated that regardless of who governs Poland, such solutions will certainly never find acceptance - stated Błażej Spychalski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Events and Opinions".

- Schetyna, with this [statement], disrespects the memory of the Silesian Insurgents, the memory of people who took up arms 100 years ago. Why? Because they wanted Upper Silesia to be part of Poland. The Silesian Insurgents died for the idea of integrating Silesia into the reviving Polish Republic, and therefore these kinds of theories disrespect the memory of the Silesian Insurgents. No, it all fits together. They have no positive message. They focus on negation. For them, everything is bad. For them, there is no project that would be a good one, yet Poland is developing, Silesia, Upper Silesia, and these people who came today, 200,000 people, residents of Katowice, Upper Silesia, who came to Katowice, proved that the white and red colors are most important to them, proved that the Polish Army is an object of their pride, and this is a great strength, truly evidence that Polish patriots live in Upper Silesia – stated Mariusz Błaszczak in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on TVP Info's "Gość Wiadomości".
