At noon, a meeting of opposition party representatives is scheduled to take place at the SLD headquarters concerning joint candidates for the Senate. "Regarding the Senate, these talks are ongoing, and meetings between all opposition forces concerning the Senate are also planned for tomorrow" - said Cezary Tomczyk yesterday on TOK FM. The Main Board of Civic Platform is also expected to convene today.

Błaszczak:

The Lists Are Essentially Ready

- We have essentially determined the shape of the lists. Only minor corrections are still to be made by the Law and Justice party leader - said Mariusz Błaszczak in an interview with Piotr Gocek on "Sygnały dnia" on Polish Radio Channel One.

- The lists are essentially ready - added the head of the Ministry of National Defence.

Błaszczak on US President's Visit: Trump's Speech at a Location of US Troop Stationing in Poland

- These will be words addressed to American soldiers and Polish soldiers, thus at one of the locations that, based on the decisions of Presidents Donald Trump and Andrzej Duda, will be a place for the stationing of American soldiers in Poland – said Mariusz Błaszczak in a conversation with Piotr Gocek on "Sygnały dnia" (Signals of the Day) on Polish Radio One.

Hartwich:

What Right Does the Government Have to Give 500 Zł Unconditionally to Families with Healthy Children, While Those Most in Need Must Re-qualify? It's a Disgrace to This Government

- We truly wish for this government to understand that one cannot offer alms in the form of 500 Zł with a means test to disabled individuals, incapable of independent existence. What right do they have? What right do all families with healthy children have to receive 500 Zł unconditionally, while a person who needs the most help, who is incapable of independent existence, who has never had a normal childhood, now receives 500 Zł from the government with a means test and must re-qualify? This is a disgrace to this government - Iwona Hartwich said in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Graffiti" program.

08:09

Hartwich:

I want society to know we have huge grievances against Andrzej Duda. On the third day of the protest, his calls went unanswered, and the president fled.

- I want society to know that we have enormous grievances against Mr. Andrzej Duda. A majority of our families with disabled individuals voted for the president because, before the elections, the president was in Toruń, holding disabled mothers and children by the hands and promising help. On the second day of the protest, when we signed an agreement with Mr. Kolarski, on the third day, his calls went unanswered, and President Andrzej Duda fled – Iwona Hartwich stated in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Graffiti".

Dworczyk on the Law Regulating Politicians' Flights: We Want to Consult the Draft with Parliamentary Clubs Before it Enters the Legislative Path

- We have prepared, I believe, a rather decent draft law [regulating politicians' flights], which we will publish on Friday. We want to consult it with all parliamentary clubs before it enters the legislative path, so that it becomes a cross-party and timeless law, serving Poland well - stated Michał Dworczyk in a conversation with Paweł Lisicki on "Trójka's Political Salon".

08:50

Dworczyk:

Today, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Will Publish Lists of Flights by Prime Ministers Kopacz and Tusk

- I agree with you that this series should be concluded. Of course, the public has the right to know this information regarding the flights of the most important people in the state. We, as you mentioned, have published the flight list of Prime Minister Morawiecki, and yesterday, Prime Minister Szydło. Today, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister will publish the flight lists of Prime Minister Kopacz and Prime Minister Tusk. And I think that this discussion may not end here, but will slowly fade away. On Friday, we will present a draft law [regulating politicians' flights] and I hope that at the nearest Sejm session, this law will be adopted by parliament - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Paweł Lisicki in "Salon polityczny Trójki".

09:03

Dworczyk:

I'm Very Cautious About Polls. Past Elections Have Taught Us They Can Differ Significantly from Actual Results

- I am very cautious when it comes to polls. The past elections have taught us that polls can diverge significantly from actual election results. Naturally, as PiS, we are pleased that Poles appreciate the four years of work and reforms that we are striving to implement, but we are also aware that the opposition's actions indicate the campaign will be very brutal, not necessarily substantive, which we lament – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Paweł Lisicki on "Trójka Political Salon".

09:05

Dworczyk:

In Early September, We Will Present Our Programmatic Ideas for the Next 4 Years

- We always want to discuss programs. PiS presents a program before every election. We too, at the beginning of September, will present our programmatic ideas for the next 4 years, and we hope to convince Poles of them - stated Michał Dworczyk in a conversation with Paweł Lisicki in "Trójka Political Salon". As we wrote on 300POLITYCE, PiS's programmatic convention is planned for September 7th.

Horała:

Poles Have the Right to Information on All Flights. We've Requested Data on All HEAD-Status Flights Pre-2015 as Well
We believe this time limit is artificial; Poles have the right to information about all flights. That's why we've requested information on all flights designated as HEAD, including those prior to 2015, so that public opinion has full access to this data. We've submitted such a request and are already in contact with the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency. We are to receive this complete data next Monday and it will be immediately shared with the Polish public, allowing them to form opinions based on a real frame of reference, in a fair, open, and transparent manner - stated Marcin Horała at a briefing outside the headquarters of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency. - Yesterday, we indeed submitted the relevant document concerning these flights that had HEAD status. We are awaiting a response from the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency. I hope that the documents we receive will show the spectrum through which Poles will be able to form an opinion not only on flights between 2015-2019 but also on those from earlier periods - added Paweł Lisiecki. - We simply want to expose the hypocrisy of Civic Platform. Law and Justice (PiS) upholds very high standards. In a situation where no law was broken, but in the public's perception, there was an excessive use of legally entitled privileges, Marshal Kuchciński resigned. Meanwhile, within Civic Platform, individuals continue to operate who, it cannot be said they merely abused certain legally entitled functions, but are outright accused of committing crimes, face prosecutorial charges, and continue to function unimpeded. And in the area of flights, we've also heard many disturbing reports. Such as Donald Tusk flying home every weekend, or giving rides to his daughter's boyfriend, or Marshal Borusewicz flying to walk his dog. We want to verify all of this. Poles have the right to receive this information. We will obtain it from PAŻP and will share it with the public - concluded Horała.

Czarzasty:

Whatever the Committee is Called, We're Going to the Elections Together

Whatever [the committee] is called, we are going to the elections together, because the determination is so immense that regardless of what the court decides. Regardless of which way it goes, we know which vehicle it will travel in next, because we know that the premium for unity is immense. This is visible in the polls, in the atmosphere” – said the leader of the SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on Radio TOK FM's morning show.

09:27

Czarzasty:

The nonsense I spoke about the Together Party or Spring is widely known. I apologize for it. It was not reasonable.
"The nonsense I spoke about the Together Party or Spring is widely known because it is recorded, for which I apologize. It was not reasonable. I am not looking for evil in all of this. I am not looking into the past. I am looking for the future. I think this is a committee that will fight regardless of what it will be called. In general terms, it will be called "The Left"" - said the head of the SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on Radio TOK FM's Morning Show.

09:27

Czarzasty:

Yesterday, PO reacted to the Senate Pact. Joint candidates are a very good idea and we endorse it without any preconditions.

We have such a hope [for joint opposition candidates for the Senate]. Three weeks ago, we announced the Senate Pact. We invited all parties to this pact without any preconditions. Yesterday, PO also reacted. All parties reacted positively. As the left, we believe that we should reach a situation where in one constituency there is one candidate nominated by the democratic parties. If one party nominates a candidate, the others do not. This is a very good idea and we endorse it without any preconditions” - said the leader of SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on Radio TOK FM's Poranek.

09:28

Czarzasty:

We are observing actions from Civic Platform that are highly critical of opposition parties

We are observing actions from Civic Platform that are highly critical of opposition parties. Mr. Jerzy Borowczak, a Civic Platform MP, is everywhere urging people to vote only for Civic Coalition, because a vote cast for PSL and the left is a wasted vote. The aim is to poach people or attempt to poach people” - said the leader of SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on Radio TOK FM's Poranek.

09:31

Budka:

Minimum Goal of 51 Senators Achievable Immediately, Calculations Suggest Up to 65 Seats, Potentially 70 with Good Approach

- We are looking for the best of the best. We are discussing arguments and creating a list of 100 people who will be able to effectively compete for the Senate. I am convinced that with such an approach, this minimum goal of 51 senators is achievable immediately, and our calculations show that it could even be around 65 seats in the Senate. With such a good approach, up to 70 seats - stated Borys Budka in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on TOK FM.

09:31

Czarzasty:

PiS's Lawbreaking and Arrogance in the Next Term Will Be So Great We'll Be in Prison. You in a cell next to me, and I next to you. Grzesiek Schetyna will be next.

"The lawbreaking and arrogance of PiS's power will be so great in the next term that we will be sitting in prison. You in a cell next to me, and I next to you. Grzesiek Schetyna will probably be next. I urge: let's not fight for leadership in the opposition. Let's fight the enemy and the opponent. His name is PiS" - said the head of SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on Radio TOK FM's Morning program.

Mariusz Kamiński Appointed New Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration

President Andrzej Duda has appointed Mariusz Kamiński to the office of Minister of Interior and Administration. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace.

10:22

President Duda on Kamiński's Nomination: I have absolute conviction that he is the right person in the right place

A significant moment, a big change, another one on our political scene, and taking a broader view, not only in terms of the executive branch but also the legislative branch. As there is an occasion, I will once again thank the Marshal for her very good, perhaps even excellent, performance of this extremely difficult and responsible mission of heading the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, and I thank her for agreeing to take on this next challenge, which is also extremely responsible and important, because after all, no matter how you look at it, it is the second highest office in the state, according to our protocol. I thank her for the excellent fulfillment of her duties and for her readiness to serve. Because this certainly characterizes the Marshal and all the decisions she makes – stated President Andrzej Duda in the Presidential Palace, during the ceremony of changes in the composition of the Council of Ministers.

Today, the presentation of the nomination for the Marshal's successor as head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. I told Minister [Marius Kamiński] a moment ago that I am very pleased with this designation by the Prime Minister, with this choice, because I have an absolute conviction that he is the right person in the right place. He has great experience in parliamentary service, but above all, government service, having previously headed the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau years ago, having created this bureau, as that was the main, first, and most important task of the minister years ago, thus possessing immense experience in creating extremely important institutions of the Polish state, and coordinating the work of special services through these institutions in recent years – PAD continued.

10:28

President Duda: Soon We Will Host the US President; Special Services and the Head of the Interior Ministry Have the Duty to Ensure Security
I have no doubt, Mr. Minister, that you will cope excellently with this exceptionally responsible mission that lies before you. With responsible and tremendously difficult tasks as well, because soon we will be hosting a whole host of heads of state, heads of state and government, in Poland, in connection with the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, we will be hosting the President of the USA. It is obvious that both the special services and the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the services subordinate to him, bear the duty of ensuring the security of our guests and the Polish state in general – stated President Andrzej Duda at the Presidential Palace, during the ceremony of changes in the composition of the Council of Ministers.

10:32

President Duda on Kamiński: It's hard to name anyone today who, after Speaker Witek's decision to take on the role of Sejm Marshal, would be better suited to hold this extremely responsible position.
I am pleased that this responsible function has been entrusted to the minister, because it is hard to name anyone today who, after Speaker [Witek]'s decision to take on the role of Sejm Marshal, would be better suited to hold this extremely responsible function of Minister of the Interior and Administration - stated President Andrzej Duda at the Presidential Palace during the ceremony for changes in the Council of Ministers.

10:36

Witek:

I am very pleased to be handing over the Ministry of Interior and Administration to such hands. Kamiński has vast experience
I am very pleased to be handing over the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) to such hands, after a short period, only two months, but truly intense. I am glad that Minister Mariusz Kamiński is taking over these duties because he has vast experience. I know that the MSWiA will function flawlessly until the end of the term – said Elżbieta Witek after Mariusz Kamiński was appointed head of the MSWiA.

11:00

Gasiuk-Pihowicz on PiS MPs' Motion to the Constitutional Tribunal Regarding Support Lists for KRS Candidates: Logical Absurdity, Legal Lie, and Preparation of Political Ammunition for PiS
The motion by PiS MPs to the Constitutional Tribunal is intended to block, at all costs, the execution of the Supreme Administrative Court's ruling, the disclosure of judges' support lists for the National Council of the Judiciary. Once again, PiS is trying to use the so-called Constitutional Tribunal for its own, party, political objectives. PiS MPs have already used the Tribunal to eliminate provisions that are inconvenient for them, which form the basis for rulings by independent courts” - stated PO Vice-Chairman Borys Budka at a press conference in the Sejm - “The Constitutional Tribunal has no right to retroactively invalidate rulings of independent courts”. “We demand from Madam Marshal that she publish the support lists for the new, politicized National Council of the Judiciary as soon as possible. The motion filed by PiS politicians to the Constitutional Tribunal is an absolute logical absurdity, a legal lie, and is solely aimed at preparing political ammunition for PiS politicians. It clearly shows how the PiS state operates. We have institutions that are racing to read, to listen to the expectations of Nowogrodzka [referring to the headquarters of the ruling party]” - added Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz from PO.

11:02

Kamiński:

MSWiA Requires No Radical Changes. I Believe This Term Has Been Fortunate with Good Ministers
I am extremely pleased to take over the ministry from such capable hands. The ministry requires no radical changes. I believe this term has been fortunate with good ministers who, unfortunately, served for short periods for various reasons, Mariusz Kamiński stated after being appointed head of MSWiA. This is a great honor for me, a huge challenge, and I am aware of the responsibility I have undertaken. I assure you that I will do everything to calmly and professionally lead MSWiA and its subordinate services until the end of the term, Kamiński added.

11:05

Sasin:

Media Depolarization Bill Not Under Government Review. 'If There's a Political Decision, We Will Proceed With It.'

- The media depolarization bill is not under government review. If there is a political decision, then we will proceed with it. At the moment, there is no political decision to go in this direction - stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Michał Wróblewski on the WP program "Tłit".

In a recent interview for 300POLITYKA, Deputy Prime Minister Gliński admitted that the bills are prepared and comply with European standards, similar to France or Germany, but there is currently no political decision to implement them.

12:03

Witek:

I Need to Sit Down and Review Documents. It's Also Vacation Season, but I Will Certainly Make Decisions. However, I Never Make Hasty Decisions
You must be aware that I became Speaker of the Sejm on Friday. It was late, and then there was the weekend. I arrived today, and there was still the handover of Minister Kamiński to the ministry. I need to sit down and review the documents. It's also vacation season, but I will certainly make some decisions. However, I never make hasty decisions. I need to think first, talk to people. I have some thoughts, but we will meet at a press breakfast, which I am inviting you to next week for Sejm journalists, and today I have a meeting with 30 journalists from all stations and major newspapers - stated Elżbieta Witek in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm. As she emphasized, one should not expect a revolution two months before the end of the term, as that would be bizarre.

12:07

Witek:

Of Course the Curtain Can Be Removed. I Wanted to Unveil It, But There's Renovation Happening Right Now

- Of course the curtain can be removed. Of course it can. I wanted to unveil it, but there's renovation happening there right now, and that's why, due to the dust, the gentlemen are saying it should remain closed for now, but because of the dust, not because of your presence - stated Elżbieta Witek in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

12:32

Civic Platform: We Demand "King's Witness" Status for the Last Living Witness in the Podkarpacka Affair
  • We are appealing to the Marshal to convene this meeting of the Justice Committee in accordance with the regulations. In reality, we are checking her intentions and whether, when taking on this role, she spoke the truth, that she would be an objective Marshal, would listen to the opposition's voice, but above all, would properly fulfill the duties of the second person in the state. Today, Marshal Witek will have the opportunity to say whether she is the Marshal of the entire Sejm, or if she intends to add her own brick to the clarification of the Podkarpacka affair and the mysterious series of suicides, or whether she will want to be a Marshal who wants to bury the Podkarpacka affair and these mysterious suicides underground - stated Arkadiusz Myrcha at a briefing in the Sejm.
  • We will also request protection for Maciej M., who is likely the last crucial witness in the Podkarpacka affair. We will request the status of a specially protected person in prison and the status of a "King's Witness" for Maciej M. - said Agnieszka Pomaska.

In the second quarter, the bank's capital group achieved the highest financial result in its entire history. It amounted to PLN 1.22 billion, was 30 percent higher than a year ago, and again, by far the best in the entire Polish banking sector. Such a good result is thanks to efficiently conducted business activities, which are additionally supported by the effects of the technological transformation the bank is undergoing. Thanks to this, the profit generated is not only record-breaking but, above all, it is repeatable" – said Zbigniew Jagiełło, CEO of PKO Bank Polski. Expectations from eleven brokerage houses regarding net profit for the second quarter ranged from PLN 1,100.8 million to PLN 1,220 million. Grabiec:

The PO National Council on Monday, but also the decision-making bodies of our coalition partners
We have had consultations with our coalition partners. On Monday, the PO National Council, but also the decision-making bodies of our coalition partners. That is, Nowoczesna, Inicjatywa Polska, the Green Party. The strategy is clear. We want to understand the expectations of the left, because we have been talking with PSL for many weeks now, and with independent local government officials as well. So there is a far-reaching willingness to cooperate here. There are already some agreements or proposals. We know where there are conflicting situations and we are looking for ways to resolve them. As for the left, the left has only recently joined. We will see how today's talks go - stated Jan Grabiec in a conversation with journalists. We wrote about the Monday PO National Council on the weekend on 300POLITYCE. (read more)

Grabiec:

Following President Ferenc's Resignation, Rzeszów's Top Spot Goes to Paweł Poncyljusz

- We discussed the parliamentary election lists [at the Civic Platform's board meeting], the Civic Coalition lists, the Platform's recommendations regarding these lists, and also ongoing discussions about the Senate lists. Regarding the parliamentary election lists, Chairman Grzegorz Schetyna proposed certain changes to the national board concerning the positions that were already announced after the previous national board meeting. As for the changes, the most important is the first position in Rzeszów. Following the resignation of President Ferenc, the recommendation is for Paweł Poncyljusz to take the first position on this list. So, the number one spot in Rzeszów is Paweł Poncyljusz. Regarding the second position, the chairman recommended Jarosław Wałęsa, in line with earlier declarations. As for the third position in Toruń, the candidate is Iwona Hartwich, and the fifth position in Szczecin is Magdalena Filiks - stated Jan Grabiec in a conversation with journalists.

17:28

Napieralski:

I accepted the offer to run for the Sejm. The conversation was not about first, second, or third place

- I received an offer to run on a parliamentary list for the Sejm, and I accepted that offer - said Grzegorz Napieralski in an interview with Roch Kowalski on TOK FM's "Political Interview".

- The conversation I had with the Civic Platform authorities did not concern first, second, or third place at all - Napieralski added.

17:32

Napieralski:

Of Course, Spring and Together are Losing Subjectivity and Identity

- Of course, Spring and Together are losing their subjectivity and identity. Please note that if this were an electoral coalition, there's an 8% threshold, and if it were The Left, Left Together, United Left, the name doesn't matter, each party would have its own subjectivity - Grzegorz Napieralski said in an interview with Roch Kowalski on TOK FM's "Political Interview".

19:41

Mucha on Opposition's Senate Talks: We'll Reach an Agreement

- We'll reach an agreement [the opposition regarding the Senate]. Please don't worry. I believe that for most of these districts, final preparations and negotiations are underway. I can speak about our region. There are six electoral districts, and actually, for one of them, I'm still waiting for final confirmation, but everything indicates that it will also be quite swift. I also know that in other regions of Poland, these efforts are advanced. There might still be some places where final negotiations are ongoing - stated Joanna Mucha in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i opinie".

19:44

Żukowska on Opposition Talks Regarding the Senate: "Discussions Lasted Over Two Hours Today. I Think They Were in a Good Atmosphere. The Assumption is That We Should Make a Decision by the End of This Week."

- We will not negotiate through the media. We respect each other. The discussions also lasted over two hours today. I think they were in a good atmosphere. I expect them to be continued. The assumption is that we should make a decision by the end of this week whether we are actually going through with it - stated Anna-Maria Żukowska in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Wydarzenia i opinie".

19:48

Żukowska on Giertych's Senate Candidacy: "They Were Definitely Included in a Document Titled 'Minutes of Discrepancy'"

- They were definitely included in a document titled 'Minutes of Discrepancy'. There is a definite problem with Roman Giertych. However, he assumed leadership of the All-Polish Youth (Młodzież Wszechpolska), who are now throwing stones in the streets at people participating in equality marches. Yet, it was he who first let these people into the Sejm, gave them a parliamentary platform - stated Anna-Maria Żukowska in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions), when asked if Roman Giertych could be a joint candidate for PO and SLD for the Senate.

19:50

Żukowska:

The Left Will Run as a United Bloc

- The electoral committee of the SLD has been registered today. The authorized representative of this committee is Marcelina Zawisza, one of the leaders of the Left Together. The Left will run as a united bloc. This is probably the first time that there will not be a separate left-wing list in the parliamentary elections - stated Anna-Maria Żukowska in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions).

20:00

Dworczyk on the so-called Podkarpackie Affair: Lawyer Giertych's activity is nothing new in high-profile, media-covered cases

- The activity of Mr. Advocate Giertych is nothing new in high-profile, media-covered cases. It is difficult to escape the comment or reflection that in the context of emerging information about the advocate's candidacy in the upcoming elections, this media dimension may be particularly important - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

- I would like to point out that Mr. Advocate Giertych appears in such high-profile, media-covered cases, and the electoral context is undoubtedly important - Dworczyk added.
Dworczyk:

Kamiński on Appointment as Head of MSWiA: "A Huge Commitment, Great Responsibility, but as Coordinator of Services for the Last 4 Years, I've Dealt with State Security Matters"
"It's a huge commitment, great responsibility, but as the coordinator of special services for the last 4 years, I've dealt with state security matters, which is why I will be able to smoothly take on additional duties related to the MSWiA services. I know the specifics of the work of these services because, in reality, we have been cooperating for these last 4 years," said Minister Mariusz Kamiński in an interview with Danuta Holecka on "Gość Wiadomości" on TVP Info.

20:12

Kamiński:

Those Who Knowingly Offend Religious Sentiments Commit Profanity and Must Face State Reaction. Glorifying Fascism Means Facing a State Counter-Offensive.

Everyone has the right to express their views, their worldview. We can debate, but in a civilized manner. There must be no violence, no intimidation of anyone. State services must oversee this,” said Minister Mariusz Kamiński in an interview with Danuta Holecka on “Gość Wiadomości” on TVP Info.

If someone knowingly offends the religious sentiments of others, commits profanity against symbols sacred to many Poles, they must reckon with a reaction from the state. If someone promotes slogans glorifying fascism or communism, they must reckon with a state counter-offensive. We cannot tolerate these types of slogans in the public sphere. There is no tolerance for antisemitism proclaimed publicly, for racism. The state must and will react,” he added.

20:12

Dworczyk on the list of accompanying persons on VIP flights: Information is dispersed. Preparing this register would be very labour-intensive

- The information is, as I said, not all of it, because this information is dispersed, and this is one of the reasons why the upcoming law will precisely describe the flight register, which will be maintained by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. Currently, preparing this register would be very labour-intensive. If citizens request information within the framework of access to public information, or if MPs submit parliamentary interpellations, then, of course, all the information that can be provided will be provided - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.
