-- ECONOMIC COMPETITIVENESS RANKING. POLAND'S DRASTIC 11-PLACE DROP - PATRYK SKRZAT IN BUSINESS INSIDER: “Poland has dropped by as many as 11 places, ranking 52nd in the economic competitiveness index prepared by the Swiss Business School. We have fallen in all detailed subcategories, including government effectiveness. This is our country's worst result in the last five years.”

-- ZANDBERG: THE BEST CIVIC PLATFORM CANDIDATE LOST TO PROBABLY THE WEAKEST PIS CANDIDATE. PEOPLE ARE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CIVIC PLATFORM GOVERNMENT AND ITS MINOR ALLIES - 300LIVE: https://300polityka.pl/live/2025/06/18/
-- ON THE DELAY IN COALITION TALKS REGARDING GOVERNMENT RECONSTRUCTION - IWONA SZPALA IN GAZETA WYBORCZA: “After the vote of confidence [June 11], the Prime Minister informed the coalition partners that negotiations would begin the following week. But there is silence,” says one minister. Another government politician corrects this. “They were supposed to happen these days, but they have been postponed until after Corpus Christi.”
-- ON TUESDAY, THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS JOINED THE MINISTRIES WITH SEVEN DEPUTY MINISTERS - SZPALA CONTINUES IN GAZETA WYBORCZA: “'The smallest government in Europe in one of the largest European countries is cheap populism, but the Polish government is supposed to be leaner. Why a minister for floods from last year? Why seven deputy ministers in the ministries [of Civic Platform]?' – Szymon Hołownia wrote before the confidence vote. On Tuesday, the MFA joined the ministries with seven deputy ministers. The head of Polish diplomacy, Radosław Sikorski, announced on TVN24 that he was hiring Civic Platform MP Marcin Bosacki because "there is plenty to do at the MFA."
-- KATARZYNA PEŁCZYŃSKA-NAŁĘCZ WANTS TO BE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER - SZPALA WRITES IN GAZETA WYBORCZA: “There will be various proposals. For instance, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz [representing Poland 2050, responsible for development and European funds] wants to be Deputy Prime Minister. These are ambitions that have been articulated for some time,” a left-wing politician reveals. “The Prime Minister previously refused, explaining that he sees Szymon Hołownia in the role of Deputy Prime Minister because he is the head of a coalition party. The issue may resurface,” he assesses.
-- KIERWIŃSKI WILL RETURN TO THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AND ADMINISTRATION, AND THE CURRENT MINISTER TOMASZ SIEMONIAK WILL COORDINATE SERVICES - SZPALA'S SOURCE CLAIMS: “According to our sources, a government career also awaits Kierwiński. “The Prime Minister believes, and I quote, that 'Marcin needs to be somehow accommodated.' He will return to the Ministry of Interior and Administration, and the current minister, Tomasz Siemoniak, will be responsible for coordinating services, which is what he was doing before his party colleague's U-turn,” claims our source from Civic Platform. Marcin Kierwiński was previously the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, then he left for the European Parliament, only to return to the government shortly after as plenipotentiary for flood relief.”

-- FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, DONALD TUSK HAS BEEN DOING A LOT TO CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR HIS POLITICAL CAMP - MAREK MIGALSKI IN RZECZPOSPOLITA: “Tusk himself has come across as someone who not only cannot defeat Jarosław Kaczyński's nominee but is also unable to silence Joanna Mucha, who left no stone unturned in criticizing politicians (especially campaign staff) of Civic Platform.”
-- DONALD TUSK WILL NOT STOP JAROSŁAW KACZYŃSKI'S MARCH FOR POWER - WRITES MIGALSKI: “Either the Prime Minister will significantly change his political style, which looks increasingly anachronistic, or Kaczyński will change his role in public life – from head of government to opposition leader. Likely in exile.”

-- DANTEAN SCENES AT THE MEETING OF THE LUBLIN CIVIC PLATFORM AUTHORITIES ARE DESCRIBED BY PAWEŁ BUCZKOWSKI IN WP: “- She said: Mr. Chairman Stanisław, your social media is dead, there's nothing there, just one comment, some one post. Then he stood up and started shouting at her: 'You'll bark that back.' He stated that she would publicly apologize – relays one of the participants of the Regional Council.”

-- "WARSAW EDITORS WON'T TELL US WHO TO VOTE FOR, I WILL LISTEN TO THIS OR THAT OPINION MYSELF, SOMETIMES SOMEONE ON TWITTER, SOMETIMES ON YOUTUBE, SOMETIMES ON TIKTOK" - GRZEGORZ SROCZYŃSKI TALKS TO DOMINIK DRZAZGA, THE MAYOR OF ZŁOCZEW AND AUTHOR OF ELECTORAL BUZZERS ON TWITTER, IN GAZETA.PL: “This stems from the growing emotion, which can be summarized as: 'Warsaw editors won't tell us who to vote for, I will listen to this or that opinion myself, sometimes someone on Twitter, sometimes on YouTube, sometimes on TikTok.' In my town, 73 percent of the votes went to Karol Nawrocki. These people don't want any more bickering. 'The elites are telling us again what to do and what to watch.' On TVP or TVN, you have to vote for Trzaskowski, otherwise you are like this and that. If you turn on Republeka, you have to vote for Nawrocki, because otherwise you are German and something else. This doesn't work at all, especially for young people, they don't want to be treated like that.”
-- THEY THOUGHT THEY KNEW BEST. AND THAT THIS VICTORY BELONGED TO THEM. I HAD CONTACTS WITH PEOPLE FROM CIVIC PLATFORM AND THEY WERE CONVINCED THESE ELECTIONS COULD NOT BE LOST - DOMINIK DRZAZGA CONTINUES WITH SROCZYŃSKI: “They thought they knew best. And that this victory belonged to them. I had contacts with people from Civic Platform, and they were convinced that these elections could not be lost. Because how can you lose to a guy who takes snus on air and is accused of bringing prostitutes to hotel guests? They considered Trzaskowski the ideal candidate. Various studies undermining this were brought to the campaign headquarters, they hid them in drawers. You can't win elections like that.”
-- THEY KNEW FROM THE SURVEYS - BESIDES, ANY FOOL KNOWS THIS - THAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T LIKE TUSK AND DON'T TRUST HIM - DRZAZGA CONTINUES WITH SROCZYŃSKI: “Nawrocki won every debate, even when he was extremely stiff. Because in every debate he said: 'Mr. Deputy Chairman of Civic Platform,' 'Mr. Deputy of Tusk.' Why? They knew from surveys - besides, any fool knows this - that most people don't like Tusk and don't trust him. Rafał Trzaskowski did not distance himself from Tusk even once during the campaign. He didn't even attempt to distance himself from the government and Civic Platform.”
-- IN ZŁOCZEW, WE HAVE A MARKET SQUARE, THE CENTER OF LIFE. THERE I HEARD ONE BIG ANNOYANCE: 'THEY WANT TO DESTROY THIS MAN' - DRZAZGA TELLS SROCZYŃSKI IN GAZETA.PL: “People in towns like Złoczew feel that their struggle for advancement is not appreciated; we are trying, we are developing, taking small steps, and they don't even see it. Every attack strengthened Nawrocki's position and mobilized his electorate. We have a market square in Złoczew, the center of life. There I heard one big annoyance: 'They want to destroy this man, they are digging up dirt!'”
-- THE LIGHT IS ON IN THE FIRE STATION, SO A PIS ACTIVIST STOPS THE CAR, GOES IN TO CHAT - DRZAZGA FURTHER TELLS SROCZYŃSKI: “Civic Platform invests more in large cities. Now, for example, people here are hearing that a two-billion-złoty tunnel under Łódź Fabryczna is planned, while the PKS bus service doesn't even reach them. It's no wonder they are rebelling against Warsaw and Łódź. Moreover, PiS politicians are everywhere. The light is on in the fire station, so a PiS activist stops the car, goes in to chat. Direct contact. They have mastered this perfectly when it comes to small towns.”
-- I WILL QUOTE A FRIEND FROM THE AREA: 'WE ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR NAWROCKI BECAUSE WE WANT TO SEE THE FACES OF THOSE FRIGHTENED PROFESSORS.' IT EXCITES THEM, THEY WANT REVENGE - DRZAZGA CONTINUES WITH SROCZYŃSKI: “I will quote a friend from the area: 'We are going to vote for Nawrocki because we want to see the faces of those frightened professors.' It excites them, they want revenge. 'They attack us on television every day, they spit on us, and we are supposed to pretend it's raining?' And the only method is a piece of paper on election day to put them in their place.”
