Thursday's Political Agenda: Tusk Meets Pope and Meloni, Nawrocki at NSZ Soldiers' Remains Funeral, Czarzasty in Zielona Góra, Morawiecki in Bogatynia, Glapiński's Press Conference

Prime Minister in the Vatican and Rome

Today, Prime Minister Donald Tusk is visiting Rome and the Vatican. At 8:45 AM, he will be welcomed by the Prefect of the Papal Household, and subsequently (at 9:00 AM) he will have an audience with Pope Leon XIV. At 10:40 AM, the head of government will lay flowers on the tomb of John Paul II.

The Roman part of the visit will commence in the afternoon. At 3:30 PM, the Polish Prime Minister will be welcomed by the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, after which they will proceed to a meeting. Statements to the press by both politicians are scheduled for 4:20 PM.

President at the Funeral Ceremony for Soldiers' Remains

At 12:00 PM in Kamesznica, President Karol Nawrocki will participate in the funeral ceremony for the remains of soldiers of the National Armed Forces from the unit of Captain Henryk Flame "Bartek" and the opening of a war cemetery. The President's speech is planned.

Czarzasty in Zielona Góra with Local Left Alliance

At 5:30 PM at the University of Zielona Góra, a press briefing is scheduled with the participation of Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty, MP Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic, Deputy Voivode of Lubusz, Tomasz Nestorowicz, and heads of local structures of the Left Alliance. The briefing will be preceded by the Marshal's meeting with the region's residents.

Morawiecki in Bogatynia

PiS Vice-Chairman Mateusz Morawiecki will participate in the Strategic Regions Forum in Bogatynia. A panel discussion with his participation, titled "Secure Poland. Strong State, Strong Regions," will begin at 11:10 AM.

NBP President's Press Conference

At 3:00 PM, a press conference by NBP President Adam Glapiński will be held, dedicated to assessing the current economic situation in Poland.

08:10

Bielan:

This is how we differ from PO, which has no program at all

- PiS has had a unitary character until now, and I think it will remain so. Associations are not inherently bad, as long as they are not a para-party and do not serve to prepare for the formation of a party - stated Adam Bielan on RMF FM.

- For over a year now, we have been discussing certain tensions regarding program writing. And this is how we differ from PO, which has no program at all, it publishes no program before any elections; before the last elections, they published '100 Specifics'. That wasn't a program, and out of those 100 specifics, they've probably fulfilled a maximum of 9 or 10 - he continued.

08:11

Bielan on the potential disintegration of PiS:

I am convinced that this will not happen.

- We have lively discussions, because we have people with national, conservative-liberal, and Christian-democratic views, and this sometimes leads to a dispute about the direction Poland should take, but every lively, large party, a national, people's party, in the political science sense, should be multi-stream - stated Adam Bielan on RMF FM.

- I am convinced that this will not happen [PiS will not disintegrate], although negative scenarios are always possible, they cannot be ruled out. That is what meetings and conversations are for, to invalidate such negative scenarios - he continued.

08:14

Bielan on the Senate Pact:

The President Will Also Have a Very Important Initiative.

- Polls usually underestimate us, but it's still not enough to have a majority in the Senate. The President will also have a very important initiative here. It's difficult for me to imagine cooperation with Mr. Braun's grouping. This is a question for Mr. Chairman [Sławomir Mentzen] about his attitude towards such a pact - stated Adam Bielan on RMF FM.

08:15

"Too Early to Assess." Bielan Asked About the "Czarnek Effect"

- I think it's too early to assess such an effect [Czarnek's] still. Perhaps around the holidays there will be a moment when the first stage can be summarized - stated Adam Bielan on RMF FM.

08:23

Bielan:

Without Hołownia's Party, There's No Majority. The Question is What He Will Do With It

- This party [Poland 2050] can decide whether, for example, a motion of no confidence against a minister will be passed. Without Szymon Hołownia's party, there is no majority, and the question is what Szymon Hołownia will do with it. He is no longer the leader in a formal sense, but I think he still has a lot to say there - stated Adam Bielan on RMF FM.

08:28

Ociepa on Kosiniak-Kamysz's Announcement Regarding 500,000 Soldiers by 2030:

I Don't Believe These Timelines.

- As of now, nothing indicates that - said Marcin Ociepa in an interview with Marcin Zaborski on the program "Gość Radia ZET," when asked about Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz's announcement that by 2030, Poland will have 500,000 soldiers, including 300,000 professional ones.

- Of course, we should aim for at least a 300,000-strong army [...] currently, the increase in soldiers, recruits, has slowed down, so I don't believe in these timelines, unless something is reversed - he continued.

- Looking at today's growth dynamics, it's unrealistic. This changed, collapsed after 2023, so I appeal to Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz: return to our policy of broad recruitment [...] increase the quotas in the Territorial Defence Force again, because they were lowered, then we will have a chance to fulfill this task, but as of today, the only hope is a change of government - he went on to say.

08:35

Bielan on Tusk:

He is often more of an Ambassador of the FRG in Poland than the Polish Prime Minister.

- A certain perspective of troop movements in Europe, towards the eastern flank, including Poland, was outlined. The problem here is Tusk, who is very often more of an Ambassador of the FRG in Poland than the Polish Prime Minister, he simply represents German interests - stated Adam Bielan on RMF FM.

- What did Tusk do? Germany spent $150 million on lobbying to maintain the contingent or incur the smallest possible losses; Merz visited Washington three times during Trump's presidency and called Trump a dozen times. What did Tusk do to bring these soldiers to Poland? He didn't go to Washington even once, didn't call Trump even once, and whenever he can, he pokes jabs at him - he continued.

08:37

Ociepa Defends General Kukuła:

Mentzen's Words Are Untrue, Harmful, and Hurtful.

- We are, of course, dealing here with Konfederacja's consistent policy of distinguishing itself from other political parties through controversy, but in this case, this policy has proven fatal for Konfederacja, and that is what I am predicting today in this studio - said Marcin Ociepa on Radio ZET, when asked about Sławomir Mentzen's words: "our army is an army of lions led by a ram, which is civilian-controlled by pigs".

- There is a limit to distinguishing oneself, and in essence, it leads to harming the Polish state and the Polish army - he continued.

- Sławomir Mentzen's words are absolutely untrue, harmful, and hurtful. General Kukuła, whom he was talking about, did not enjoy widespread support among the general staff precisely because he was modern, precisely because he wanted reforms, because he wanted a different army, and Kukuła is the right man in the right place here - he went on to say.

08:45

Ociepa on American Soldiers Withdrawing from Germany:

We Should All Strive for Them to Be Relocated to Poland.

- Both the Polish President, the Polish Prime Minister, the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Defense, and everyone, the entire political class, should strive for these soldiers [American soldiers withdrawing from Germany] to be relocated to Poland – said Marcin Ociepa on Radio ZET.

- We are seeking a permanent base for American troops, we are seeking to increase the number of American troops in our country – he continued.

08:48

Gawkowski on Święczkowski:

He Doesn't Enforce Judgments, He Breaks the Law Himself. Prison Will Come For This One Day.

- There is a judgment from the ECtHR, and there is an obligation for Mr. President Święczkowski to enforce it. For me, the matter is clear - he does not enforce judgments, he breaks the law himself. Prison will come for this one day. There are no white or black sides in this matter, no different influences of Europe on Poland. This is simply about the law - stated Krzysztof Gawkowski in an interview with Marcin Fijołek in Polsat News's "Graffiti".

- The Polish constitution, which clashed with the president's lack of willingness to implement it. This is the first step, and independent institutions are saying: the president did not have the right to do this, judges have the right to work, just like those two whom Mr. Święczkowski respects. Six in the Tribunal were properly chosen by the Sejm. Full stop - he continued.

08:48

Gawkowski on Barricading the Constitutional Tribunal:

We'll Break Down the Door to Fix It.

- [The police] will not only have to, but will have the obligation, the right, to simply rectify all these things where legal standards are being violated, Święczkowski and his assistants. You look at the chaos, I look at order. Is it chaos when the police knock on someone's door at 6:00 AM because they committed a crime as serious as, for example, murdering someone and then hiding their body? Meaning, is there chaos? Yes. Are doors broken down? Yes. Is there a police raid? Yes. But should it have happened? It should have - stated Krzysztof Gawkowski on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

- And here too, if something is to happen that is to be a turning point, an upholding of the constitutional choice, respecting the choices of judges, the six judges correctly chosen by the Sejm versus two individuals, because I feel that Mr. Nawrocki is also mentally supporting Mr. Świeczkowski somewhere, and they would want to barricade themselves hand in hand in the Constitutional Tribunal, then we say - we will break down that door to fix this Tribunal - he continued.

08:56

Ociepa on SAFE:

We Will Try to Exit This Undertaking.

- We have campaign rhetoric, political rhetoric, which is a clear message: we do not accept SAFE, we believe this instrument is harmful, right, and that's it. And this is the rhetoric of a prime ministerial candidate, Przemysław Czarnek - said Marcin Ociepa on Radio ZET.

- You are asking a public policy manager today about what it will look like in practice. It will look like this: depending on the stage of implementation of this undertaking, we will try to exit it - he continued.

- For sure, [Przemysław Czarnek] is not deceiving [at meetings with voters], he is only drawing attention to the lack of acceptance for this instrument and that after coming to power, it will be subject to verification in order to avoid a situation where we are hostages to an instrument we do not want - he went on to say.

- If this were to lead to damage to the potential of the armed forces, to the loss of this money, then certainly neither Przemysław Czarnek nor any of the Law and Justice politicians will allow it - he added.

08:59

Morawiecki's New Campaign Spot:

Is Tusk Poland's Prime Minister or Serving German Interests?

- The USA is withdrawing 5,000 soldiers from Germany. For Poland, this could be a historic opportunity. More US troops on our soil means a real strengthening of NATO's eastern flank. And what is Donald Tusk doing in this situation? Donald Tusk, who frightens Poles with war as often as he posts infantile videos online, does not want to lobby for a greater American presence in Poland. Why? Because Berlin might not like it. Because it might violate so-called European solidarity - says the narrator in a clip published by Mateusz Morawiecki.

- This is an absolute scandal, Poles have the right to ask directly, whose Prime Minister is Donald Tusk? The Prime Minister of Poland or of German interests? - asks the narrator.

09:06

Ociepa:

Most PiS Politicians Believe a Prime Ministerial System is Better

- As far as I know, there are more proponents of the chancellery system, meaning the prime ministerial one, within Law and Justice – said Marcin Ociepa on Radio ZET.

- There is no unified stance of Law and Justice for now regarding the shape of this constitution. However, I am telling you what the average is today. Today, most politicians of Law and Justice believe, according to my assessment of course, that the prime ministerial system is better – he continued, when asked if PiS is not interested in a system where the president is the head of government.

09:15

Ociepa:

No Cryptocurrency Law Needed to Combat the Russian Mafia

- We really don't need a cryptocurrency law to combat the Russian mafia - said Marcin Ociepa on Radio ZET.

- If Donald Tusk can't manage it, then he should resign, we will show him how Russia can be stopped - he continued.

09:18

Przydacz comments on Sikorski's words:

Quite a disgraceful lack of knowledge for a minister responsible for European affairs.

"The draft cryptocurrency act is a supplement to an EU REGULATION, not a directive. Directives are implemented, while regulations are directly binding. You can carry out tasks, not implement. Knowledge at the level of a first-year student." - wrote Marcin Przydacz on X.

"Quite a disgraceful lack of knowledge for a minister responsible for European affairs. You should look up: MiCA regulation of 2023. Plus, a European law textbook to sleep with. Maybe next time it will be better. By the way, you had several years to act on this. Lazybones." - he continued in his post.

09:33

Did You Know That Tusk's Government Took Almost 2 Years to Process a Super Important and Urgent Bill? Pęk on Cryptocurrencies

- Interesting fact: did you know that it took Tusk's government almost two years to process a super important and super urgent bill on cryptocurrencies? And before they even sent the project to the Sejm, 16 months had passed? - wrote PiS senator Marek Pęk on social media.

11:20

Markiewicz Announces:

We Will Deliver the ECHR Decision to the President of the Constitutional Tribunal.

- Today, we will deliver the decision I mentioned [ECHR] to the President of the Constitutional Tribunal, and at the same time to all judges of the Constitutional Tribunal, and we will await a conversation and reaction from the President, not a spokesperson, to this ECHR ruling, and consequently, we will strive to assume our office. The decision is quite simple and clear - stated Krystian Markiewicz at a press briefing.

11:20

Tusk on the Pope's invitation to Poland:

I am glad he accepted it with joy.

- Of course, I confirmed the heartfelt invitation, not only on behalf of the authorities, but on behalf of the entire nation, a heartfelt invitation for His Holiness to Poland, and I am glad he accepted it with joy, although the date is yet to be determined and it won't be tomorrow - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in the Vatican.

- The Holy See had previously informed that due to the calendar, but also because, for instance, 2027 is an election year, so we should rather expect it in 2028, but we will probably live to see it - he continued.

11:21

Nawrocki Submits Referendum Request to the Senate:

Poles Must Have the Right to Express Their Opinion.

- As per my earlier promise, I have decided to submit a request to the Senate to hold a nationwide referendum - President Karol Nawrocki stated in a declaration.

- Poles must have the right to directly express their opinion on the consequences of the Green Deal. The question to be posed is simple and fair: "Are you in favor of implementing the EU's climate policy, which has led to an increase in the cost of living for citizens, energy prices, and the operation of businesses and agriculture?" - he continued.

- I want to be clear, this referendum is not against environmental protection or our membership in a united Europe. It is for the right of Poles to decide the pace of changes, their scope, and the costs they bear - he went on to say.

- The Senate of the Republic will face an important choice. Agreeing to the referendum will be an expression of respect for the voice of the citizens. Refusal – a decision that citizens will also judge - he added.

11:32

Tusk after meeting the Pope:

I told him his words can also greatly improve the world.

- I am deeply impressed by the meeting with the Holy Father, and these are not just polite words. We had a long one-on-one conversation, and we all remember the Pope's words about the need for peace, the reunification of people of goodwill around the world, and reconciliation. But when you have the opportunity to speak one-on-one, such words and arguments sound much, much stronger. I am convinced that, just as in the past, our Pope – we just laid flowers at the tomb of John Paul II and surely we all remembered those moments when our Pope changed the world, because good words, wise words, moral behavior are not just a demonstration, but can sometimes change the world, and it was so in the case of John Paul II, we were all beneficiaries of that - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in the Vatican.

- I told the Holy Father that his words can also greatly improve this world, which is certainly not heading in the best direction, and that the words and actions of the Holy Father can restore moral order, including in public life. They truly have great significance. I also said very sincerely that for someone like me, the awareness that the Holy Father shares very similar values – some might say these values are outdated, that they may no longer play such a role – but I still deeply believe that this is a great Polish heritage: acting without violence, believing that truth is stronger than lies, that solidarity and dialogue are better than confrontation, that such ancient inventions as human rights – that all of this makes profound sense and that we are not alone in this - he continued.

- The Holy Father also conveyed a very important thought to me, and I think to all Poles, to all of Poland, because he directed it to all Polish women and men: not to hang your head, not to lose hope, but quite the opposite, to build strength for good, to unite around good things, that it is still possible and that the world does not have to drown in chaos if people of goodwill find each other and act unitedly - he emphasized.

11:56

Tusk after talks in the Vatican:

There's the issue of religion in schools, here we have a slightly different view.

- There is, of course, the issue of religion in schools, here we have a slightly different view, but I assured my interlocutors that in Poland's interest, and as I also understand the mission of my government, my personal mission, it is to seek good agreements wherever possible. One doesn't need to give up one's own views or one's own projects, but one needs to be able to convince each other without raising voices. And certainly, thanks to this conversation, I will manage to organize such a dialogue for all these controversies or sometimes differing views regarding state-Church relations. I am truly always ready for a conversation, which doesn't mean I will change my opinion and stance, but we can talk about it without clenched teeth, only with the best possible will, and I guarantee that - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in the Vatican.

12:02

Tusk Ahead of Meeting with Meloni:

I Don’t Rule Out That the Result Will Be Urgent Work to Elevate Our Relations.

- It’s too early to talk about it, but I don’t rule out that the result of today’s meeting with Giorgia Meloni will be work, and urgent work at that, to elevate our relations to a significantly higher level. Of course, they are not bad, we have very good relations, and contrary to some predictions, my relations with the Prime Minister are also excellent, and we cooperate very well on all matters, including there in Brussels, within the EU forum. But yes, I will be discussing how our relations with Italy could resemble those with countries with whom we have the most in common to do - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in the Vatican.

12:09

Tusk after his conversation with the Pope:

I would like to be the cause of at least calming the situation in our country.

- I received a beautiful album about painting, of course, local collections. The Holy Father somehow found out that art, especially painting, is also one of my passions, but more importantly, I received a text, I will show it later, and there is one word that the Holy Father applied to himself and to me: peacemakers. I probably don't deserve such a definition, but I will proudly show this text to you all, because what is the guiding thought of his pontificate, when it comes to public affairs, is certainly peace and reconciliation - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference in the Vatican.

- I told the Holy Father that it would be wonderful if, also with his help, peace could be established wherever war is waged today. It is very difficult, but the Pope will not cease his efforts for peace and reconciliation. I spoke about the situation in Poland and that we are also very polarized, that this political conflict, even in Poland, sometimes takes unnecessarily sharp forms, and I hope that this conversation will also help me find better ways and methods so that these political conflicts are not so sharp. I somehow feel better prepared for this, after the conversation with the Holy Father and after receiving this gift. Yes, I would like to be the cause, if not of peace, because that might be a task beyond my strength, then at least of calming the situation in our country - he continued.

12:13

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz:

It's Time to Gradually Approach Equalizing Retirement Age

- It's time to gradually start approaching the equalization of retirement age between women and men. This is another reform for the young. And the justice reform, the tax reform, it's slowly happening, but it should happen much faster and more seriously - stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on TVN24's "News Michalskiego" program.

- I'm stating my private opinion that if criticism is to fall for this, then let it fall on me, I'm taking it upon myself and my political image. So my private opinion is that the time has come to equalize the rights of men and women in this matter - she continued.

She added: - We are the only European country today where there is such a big difference, 5 years, and nothing is happening in this matter. In my opinion, but this is my conviction, it should be a comprehensive package that encourages seniors to work longer, so that it pays off for them. This is happening, but it could still happen more, and then this age should meet somewhere between 60 and 65, but more towards 65.

12:25

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz:

We Don't Have the Money to Take 60 Billion from the Budget for a Tax-Free Amount

- Today, I say this responsibly, precisely as a coalition partner. We do not have the money to take 60 billion from the budget for a tax-free amount of 60,000 PLN, but we have money from the digital tax, excise tax, and modifications to the lump-sum tax to provide relief... - stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on TVN24's "News Michalskiego" program.

12:45

Declare Judges After Meeting with Deputy President of the Constitutional Tribunal:

It's Impossible for Us to Take Up Our Duties,

"We were received by Deputy President Bartłomiej Sochański, standing in for President Bogdan Święczkowski, who is not at the Tribunal today and is expected on Monday," Anna Korwin-Piotrowska told journalists after leaving the CT building.

"Deputy President Sochański conveyed that he had familiarized himself with the decision, with the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights, but the position of the President and the Deputy President remains unchanged: they cannot admit us to adjudicate, that we have not established an employment relationship," she continued.

"Mr. Deputy President Sochański said that the content of this ruling indicates that all bodies are obliged not to hinder us from taking up our duties, and therefore, this is precisely what he is doing – not hindering us," she went on.

"Naturally, we engaged in a polemic with this stance, pointing out that it is evident from the content of the ruling that this non-hindrance should consist of assigning us offices and enabling us to perform our duties, because the only obstacle that needs to be removed is precisely the stance of the President of the Constitutional Tribunal, Bogdan Święczkowski, who does not want to allow us to adjudicate," she added.

"Ultimately, the Deputy President stated that he would review our letter [...] and on Monday, together with President Święczkowski, they will further consider all our arguments. However, for the moment, he declared that it is impossible for us to take up our duties," she emphasized.

15:06

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz:

Another President Degrading the Idea of a Referendum by Turning It into a Propaganda Tool

"Sad. Another President of the Republic of Poland who is degrading the idea of a referendum by turning it into a propaganda tool." - wrote Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on X.

"And there are issues worth asking Poles about, for example: Should the taxation rules for foreign and Polish technology companies be equalized? Should the retirement age for women and men be equalized? Should abortion up to the 12th week be legal?" - she continued in her post.

15:13

Glapiński on the So-Called SAFE 0%:

What’s Happening in the Media is Exceptional Manipulation, Misrepresentation, or Misunderstanding.

- I have an appeal to media representatives regarding this so-called loss 2025 versus the possibility of financing defense needs, about this entire pseudo-discussion that is taking place. We spoke publicly about the projected NBP loss for 2025 as early as August last year. The NBP indicated then that a significant strengthening of the zloty against current currencies, especially the US dollar, would result in a negative financial result exceeding PLN 30 billion. There is nothing new here - stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

- From the outset, we indicated that any potential payment for Poland's rearmament, for the purchase of military equipment, could concern the profit for 2026, meaning funds transferred only in 2027. This has nothing to do with the financial result announced now. What is happening now in the media is exceptional manipulation, misrepresentation, a lie, or misunderstanding - the NBP president continued.

- Where could this sum, which can be transferred for rearmament, come from? From the exceptional utilization of the difference between the purchase price of gold, the average price we hold, and the current valuation of reserves at the exchange rate, the market rate. To be precise, from the realization of part of the so-called unrealized revenues - he added.

- However, such actions could only be considered in a situation of exceptional importance for state security. Because state security, including military and political, is a condition for the effectiveness of our monetary, price, and zloty policy - Glapiński emphasized.

15:28

Glapiński:

Interest Rate Hikes are Probable, But Not Inevitable

- Do I foresee that there might be hikes? There might be. Every member of the Monetary Policy Council admits the possibility that if inflation continues to rise, there will, of course, be [interest rate] hikes. One hike, multiple hikes, it's difficult to say - stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

- The prospect of a rate cut seems very unlikely, because when could it happen? If tomorrow or today all countries involved in the conflict reached an agreement, if it were announced that they are taking steps to restore free flow, etc., as quickly as possible, but please remember, there are things like destruction that needs to be rebuilt. Those refining capacities, port capacities in the Middle Eastern, Arab countries, require about a year, as these countries inform us, to reach their previous capabilities - he continued.

- So, a rate cut, of course, one cannot say it is ruled out, but it is very, very, very, very unlikely. Hikes are probable, but they don't have to happen. We are still within the inflation target, which is the dream of every central bank. We will all see together how this month looks - he went on to say.

17:46

Tusk tweets about the picket outside his family apartment:

Nawrocki and Kaczyński are probably proud of their people's heroic action.

- A picket on a children's playground outside my family apartment during my absence is the height of bravery. Nawrocki and Kaczyński are probably proud of their people's heroic action - wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on social media.

18:07

Bogucki on the Referendum:

If the Senate Followed the Interests of Poles, It Should Give Them the Vote.

- The Senate will decide on this. I think that if the Senate were guided by the interests of Poland, the interests of Poles, the protection of wallets, the protection of Polish agriculture and industry, but also by issues of energy security and military security, then it should give the vote to Poles - said Zbigniew Bogucki in an interview with Beata Lubecka on "Three Questions at the End of the Day" on Radio ZET, when asked if the referendum proposed by the president would take place.

18:10

President's Proposed Referendum: First Step Towards Polexit? Bogucki: Absolutely Not

- No, absolutely not, because the President is consciously inscribing [...] in this document, which is an expression of will, a political stance, and also a legal stance, of active action within the European Union - stated Zbigniew Bogucki on Radio ZET, when asked if the referendum proposed by the President would not be the first step towards Polexit.

18:14

Bogucki on the President's Proposed Referendum:

This is Help for the Ruling Coalition.

"I think this is help for the ruling coalition, this is help for Donald Tusk, because I remember a speech by the Prime Minister at the beginning of Poland's presidency, when he spoke very critically about the ETS, saying that we should move away from the ETS, that the ETS must be blocked" - said Zbigniew Bogucki on Radio ZET.

"Another thing is that, as usual, he did nothing about it, so perhaps when the voice of the nation, expressed in a referendum, in a popular vote, stands behind him, then it will finally convince the Prime Minister, although I don't know if he will still be Prime Minister then" - he continued.

18:27

Tusk and His Ministers Did Nothing, Even Though They Knew It Was a Sham. Bogucki on Zondacrypto

- If Donald Tusk compares the Zondacrypto case to the Amber Gold issue, he knows what he's saying, because in that matter, he knew it was a sham, I'm talking about Amber Gold, and he did nothing, and Poles lost millions. In this case too, Donald Tusk and his ministers did nothing, even though they knew it was a sham - said Zbigniew Bogucki on Radio ZET.

18:35

Sejm's Arithmetic and the Constitution's Mandate: Bogucki on Tusk and Cryptocurrency Bills

- Tusk is losing another vote. Sejm's arithmetic and the Constitution tell him, "you must reach an understanding with the President." And what does he do? He says, "this is your last chance" and he will probably push this bill for a third time. So, who is to blame? - said Zbigniew Bogucki on Radio ZET, discussing the cryptocurrency bills.

18:39

Szłapka After Tusk's Visit to Rome:

Poland and Italy Have Never Been Closer.

- Prime Minister Donald Tusk's visit to Rome is concluding. An extraordinary visit, a very good meeting with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Poland and Italy have never been closer. Excellent discussions about economic cooperation, cooperation within the European Union, and also about a new treaty. We are returning to Warsaw - said Adam Szłapka in a recording published on X.

19:11

Tusk after meeting with Meloni:

This is an extraordinary day for me.

- This is an extraordinary day for me. I had the opportunity to have a long, very warm, personal conversation with the Prime Minister. Yes, friends who understand each other well talk to each other like this. Not only due to a community of interests, but also views on all, in fact, important matters that today influence the course of events in Europe, our countries, and around the world - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Rome.

- This is a great satisfaction for me. It took us some time to understand each other, but we got to know each other so well that today we all know, both Italians, Poles, and ourselves, that there is no conflict of interests, ideas, or values, and that political friendship can be built not only on common interests but also on mutual respect and understanding, and for that I am very grateful - he continued.

19:14

Tusk on Treaty with Italy:

Our Countries Deserve Relations at the Highest Possible Level.

- With great satisfaction, I heard from the Prime Minister that Italy, of course Poland, and myself as well, are ready for a serious conversation, for the commencement of cordial, serious negotiations that should conclude with a new treaty. Our two countries deserve relations at the highest possible level - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Rome.

19:49

Balczun on Nawrocki’s Referendum:

A Way to Divert Attention from the Zondacrypto Scandal.

- I see this initiative – because we are talking about the president’s initiative to hold a referendum – as a way to slightly divert attention from what happened regarding Zondacrypto and cryptocurrencies, and the double veto that was announced by the president – said Wojciech Balczun in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News’s “Gość Wydarzeń” (Guest of Events).

- Unfortunately, the president will not escape some form of co-responsibility for what has happened. Because before our eyes, one of the biggest scandals of recent decades has unfolded – and is still unfolding today. And this initiative concerning a referendum is meant to be a way to divert attention, but it is also proof of a certain hypocrisy of this political group – he stated.

Szefernaker on the President's Referendum Proposal:

The Decision Must Belong to Poles.

- Electricity bills are rising, the cost of living is hitting Polish families, entrepreneurs, and farmers hard. And we must say it clearly – this is the effect of EU climate policy, the Green Deal, and the ETS system, which impose ever-increasing costs on us. Ahead of us is ETS2, which means further costs for heating homes and driving cars. That is why President Karol Nawrocki has submitted a motion to the Senate for a nationwide referendum – said Paweł Szefernaker in a recording published on social media.

- The question is simple: do Poles agree with the climate policy that means more expensive energy, more expensive heating, more expensive transport, and more difficult business operations. This referendum is intended to give citizens a voice, to give Poland a mandate to fight for normalcy, for development, and for fair prices. Democracy means that citizens decide the future of the state. Please share this information. The decision must belong to Poles – he emphasized.

Balczun on the Polish Electric Car:

The First Car Will Roll Off the Production Line in 2029.

"[Izera is] Another project that has been around for a very long time - 10 years - which has never moved beyond beautiful PowerPoint presentations, and has cost several hundred million zlotys. The only tangible result of those actions is a plot of land in Jaworzno and a cleared forest" - said Wojciech Balczun in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

"Currently, after two years of very intensive work and developing a final solution that will be beneficial for Poland, we have announced the choice of a technological partner. A company from Taiwan, Foxconn, one of the world's technological leaders" - stated the head of MAP.

"The most important thing is that we are succeeding in this project and will achieve so-called technology transfer. Local content will be 70%" - he added.

As he explained: "We will be the majority shareholder in the joint venture. [...] The business model that Foxconn has proposed is precisely that we will build competencies here, that we will actually be the center of production and distribution of these cars for all of Europe."

"This will be our car, it will have our name, it will be real. [...] The project will be ours, we will build competencies, we will employ our people in this company. And I assume that when we meet again in a year, we will be discussing the first shovel hitting the ground for the factory construction" - declared the minister of assets.

"2029 - the first car will roll off the production line. This is what an objective cycle of building a factory and a production line looks like" - he emphasized.

"These Are Not Theses, But Facts": Buk on the Referendum Question Proposed by the President

In an interview on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events), Wanda Buk was asked about the content of the referendum question proposed by President Karol Nawrocki: "Are you for the implementation of EU climate policy, which has led to an increase in the cost of living for citizens, energy prices, and the conduct of economic and agricultural activities?"

"Mr. Editor, do you consider this a thesis or a fact?" she asked, to which Piotr Witwicki replied that, in his opinion, it was a thesis contained within the question.

The President's advisor responded: "In my opinion, it is a fact that – and what's more – the European Commission identifies and describes in its strategic documents, in its legislative acts. [...] This is something confirmed by government documents, for example, the National Energy and Climate Plan, issued for the turn of 2025 and 2026 by the Ministry of Climate, which states that the implementation of climate policy by 2040 will cost Poland 3.5 trillion zlotys."

"Essentially, all mechanisms within the framework of climate policy adopted by the European Union are mechanisms that impose additional costs. After all, that's how the ETS works, that's how ETS2 will work," she argued.

"You say it's a thesis, and I'm telling you these are facts. They are facts that the European Commission itself admits exist, and the governments of individual countries, including the Polish government, admit to them," she emphasized.
