Bogucki on Czarzasty:
He should know the rules of diplomacy, not act like a bull in a china shop.
"Mr. Speaker Czarzasty [...] being the second person in the state, the Marshal of the Sejm, should know the rules of diplomacy, he should not act like a bull in a china shop, but even if he has a different opinion, which he is of course entitled to, regarding the assessment of the actions of this or that politician, he should do so in a diplomatic manner, not as if he were a publicist," said Zbigniew Bogucki in an interview with Dominika Wielowieyska on "Poranek TOK FM".
07:47
Bogucki on Czarzasty:
If He Had a Tincture of the State-Building Gene, He Should Honorably Resign.
- Marshal Czarzasty should not have been appointed to this position at all - said Zbigniew Bogucki on TOK FM.
- If Marshal Czarzasty had a tincture of that state-building gene, and after all that has rolled out in the media, what has arisen in international relations, and also looking at his history, if someone says I have no right, then this is my assessment, and I make this assessment based on his life history - he continued.
- So his joining the communists after martial law, what he said about the wall at the border, the fact that it always happens that he somehow fits more or less into either Soviet or Moscow interests, and that's how I assess it, that's my assessment, he should simply honorably resign, step down from this position - he went on to say.
07:57
Bogucki Assures Trump Administration Was Not Alerted About Czarzasty's Remarks:
Absolutely Not.
- I think that the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sikorski, is once again, so to speak, trying to invent some stories out of thin air - said Zbigniew Bogucki in TOK FM, when asked about Radosław Sikorski's statement, which referred to the American ambassador's words about the Marshal of the Sejm: "I will want to know to what extent this was the stance of the American authorities and to what extent it was the ambassador's personal opinion, and whether there was any coordination with our opposition.".
- I think it would be good for him to simply focus on his work, i.e., if he is, and he is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, he should clarify this through diplomatic channels - he continued.
- I have no such knowledge [...]. No, absolutely not, why would we, I mean, Mr. President Nawrocki has one [...] such ironclad principle when it comes to international matters: not to air what is in Poland externally - he went on, when pressed whether anyone had alerted the administration of Donald Trump about the remarks made by Włodzimierz Czarzasty.

Kierwiński:
I want to correct the lies of the so-called TV Republika journalists
- This recording was delivered to me by an anonymous person, via messenger around January 20th. An investigation was immediately launched within the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA), and information was passed to the Government Protection Bureau (SOP). It happened to be the day the commander of the SOP was changing. An explanatory investigation was initiated in this matter, and a notification was also submitted to the MSWiA by the internal supervisor – a person who acts as an intermediary for control over services within the ministry. This notification was sent to the prosecutor's office - stated Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Radio Zet.
- The SOP filed another notification to the prosecutor's office in this matter, and disciplinary proceedings were initiated with the aim of dismissing this officer from service. I just want to correct the lies of the so-called TV Republika journalists who claim that someone allowed this officer to retire. No, disciplinary proceedings are ongoing. The officer is suspended; no one allowed him to retire. Further steps in this matter should be expected from the new leadership of the SOP - the head of MSWiA continued.
08:08
Bogucki on the Draft Regarding the National Council of the Judiciary:
This Law Will Not Pass.
- My stance on this is absolutely clear, but it's not up to me whether it will be signed or not, but rather the President of the Republic, Karol Nawrocki - said Zbigniew Bogucki on TOK FM when asked if the law on the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS) would be signed.
- Minister Bodnar, who created these solutions, is not here, this law will not pass, and I hope that Minister Żurek will not be here any sooner than the two years until the elections - he continued, when pressed on whether the KRS law has a chance of being enacted.
08:12
Kierwiński on the Situation in the Government Protection Bureau:
Extreme Mess Left by PiS, Which I Now Have to Clean Up.
- You must invite PiS politicians, and it was they who created the Government Protection Bureau (SOP), they who vetted SOP officers, they who reformed the Government Protection Bureau (BOR), they said all doubts would be clarified, and as you can see, they were clarified in such a way that, apart from an increasing amount of negative news, there is also an extreme mess left by PiS, which I now have to clean up and will continue to clean up - stated Marcin Kierwiński on Radio Zet.
08:19
Kierwiński:
I Intend to Continue Cleaning the Augean Stables Left by PiS Politicians
- If PiS politicians are shouting about my resignation, it means I am doing my job well. I [do not intend to resign], I intend to continue cleaning up the mess and the Augean stables that PiS politicians left me - stated Marcin Kierwiński on Radio Zet.
08:40
Kierwiński on Czarzasty:
The President and his political circle are letting themselves be exploited by right-wing television.
- It’s absurd that the President and his political circle are letting themselves be exploited by right-wing television stations to be carriers of false information distributed by these stations. Frankly, it's unserious - stated Marcin Kierwiński on Radio Zet.
08:42
Kierwiński:
Compromised Individuals Who Once Managed Services Now Found Themselves in Nawrocki's Chancellery
- I can ask: how is it that various compromised individuals, who once managed special services and theoretically cared for Polish security, have now found themselves in President Nawrocki's Chancellery? If there were any doubts regarding Marshal Czarzasty, who was then a Member of Parliament and sat on the special services committee, why didn't Mr. Wacławek, a former high-ranking official of the service, do anything about it? Didn't he know, did he lack competence, did he forget? - stated Marcin Kierwiński on Radio Zet.
08:47
- I think it's starting to resemble a decent telenovela. I've been hearing about this temptation [of the PSL] for many, many years now. Meanwhile, no one talks about other parties being tempted. I don't know why - said Piotr Zgorzelski in an interview with Jan Wróbel in the "Morning Ring" on VOX FM / Super Express.
08:53
Zgorzelski:
We Are a Permanent Fixture of This Majority and We're Not Going Anywhere
- We are a permanent element of this democratic majority system and we are not going anywhere - said Piotr Zgorzelski in VOX FM's "Morning Ring.".
09:07
Zgorzelski on Czarzasty:
Escalating Relations with the Ambassador Does Not Serve Polish-American Relations.
- In my opinion, this entire matter has a double dimension. Internal - and here Włodzimierz Czarzasty handled it very well from a party logic perspective. In my opinion, he gained points not only within the Left but also with the electorate of Civic Platform, potentially becoming a kind of herald of anti-Trumpism - Piotr Zgorzelski stated on VOX FM / Super Express's “Morning Ring.”
- But in the external dimension, this escalation of relations with the ambassador, however strongly or weakly one might call it, does not serve Polish-American relations, because today two things are most important to us - he stated.
- The first is to maintain the best possible transatlantic relations, meaning simply relations with the United States. Secondly, to take into account the fact that for the next three years, Donald Trump, who is who he is, will still be president - he pointed out.
- Zelensky learned firsthand how much one needs to learn, perhaps it’s not the best word, the user manual for Trump. After the altercation in the Oval Office, he visited the United States for a second time and conducted a meeting with Trump in such a way that Trump was delighted - he noted.
09:14
Zgorzelski:
If Czarzasty Had Said Exactly What He Had Written at the Conference, the US Ambassador Wouldn't Have Exploded
- It was a big surprise for me yesterday when I became aware of the fact that the written response did not resonate with the spoken one. Because Marshal Czarzasty formulated his answer to the Speaker of the House of Representatives completely differently. In my opinion, if he had said exactly the same thing at the press conference, to use a youthful expression, the American ambassador would not have exploded - said Piotr Zgorzelski in the "Morning Ring" on VOX FM / Super Express.
- However, after this statement, the American ambassador wrote a very sharp post. The question is, of course, whether he had to be so harsh. One can argue that perhaps he didn't have to, but should he have reacted at all? In my opinion, any ambassador in any country, upon becoming aware that their president is being accused of violating international law, would have to react - he stated.
- Whether he should have reacted so harshly immediately? That's probably up to Ambassador Rose. Certainly, in my opinion, he should not have brought up our military and threatened to take it away - he emphasized.
09:29
- It's ahead of us. I understand what it's about, it's about a commitment. We are prepared with a parliamentary bill. We will likely push this very strongly this year - said Piotr Zgorzelski in "Poranny ring" on VOX FM / Super Express, responding to a question from the chat about where the PLN 60,000 tax-free amount is.
When pressed on whether this would happen in the current calendar year so that the amount would be in effect next year, he replied: - That's our plan.

Kosiniak-Kamysz Summarizes Pilot Program for Voluntary Defense Training:
16,000 Trained.
- Over 18,000 registered for the training. 16,000 people were trained. We are very pleased that women and men alike eagerly took advantage of this invitation to universal voluntary defense training - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference, summarizing the pilot program "wGotowości" (On Alert).
As the head of the Ministry of National Defense stated: - The largest age group consisted of individuals between 36 and 45 years old. The oldest participants [...], among women: an 80-year-old woman participated. Among men: a 91-year-old in the cyber hygiene course. Let us recall that we have four courses: a basic course, a survival course, a cyber hygiene course, and a pre-medical first aid course.
- A very good response, with approximately 80% attendance. This is significant considering the time it took place, when many infectious diseases are prevalent, and the weather this year, in both November and December, was not favorable, demonstrating a specific, far-reaching determination from those who decided to participate in the training - he continued.
- I would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated. This is an expression of patriotism, responsibility for oneself, for one's family, for one's neighbors. To put it grandly, but truthfully: for Poland, for all of us, for the entire society - he emphasized.
- These exercises, this pilot program, are concluding with a very good outcome in terms of interest, especially in territorial defense. Approximately 23-25% of individuals indicated that they would like to continue their engagement and see themselves most fitting within territorial defense - he added.
12:53
Kosiniak-Kamysz:
Our ambition is a 500,000-strong army
- The year 2026 will be the year of the reserve, the year of reservists, the year of changes in the reserve for all of us. Our ambition is "Army 500" – an army of 500,000, where a large portion will also consist of those in the highest state of readiness in the reserve – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference.
- By uttering this formula "Army 500," by talking about the capacity of individuals, both a 300,000-strong professional, regular army [...], we are talking about another group of hundreds of thousands of people who will be ready as reservists. And in varying states of readiness, because we have an active reserve and a passive reserve, and within the active reserve, one in high readiness, who will train more often, will be more useful – he continued.
- But it will also be a significant signal to those who might want to threaten our security, who would want to endanger our security, that readiness to defend the homeland is not just for those who wear a uniform today, but for all those who can wear one – he pointed out.
- "Army 500" will include both those who join professional service, voluntary basic military service, territorial service, as well as those in the high-readiness reserve. […] For reservist training to become attractive, we need [...] both legislative changes concerning the quality and flexibility of performing these functions, maintaining full readiness, and the reservist's choice of their own path, choosing the days they want to train. As well as compensation, which has never been the case before – compensation for participation in these training exercises – he explained.
13:30
Kosiniak-Kamysz:
Compulsory Military Service Can Be Reinstated at Any Time – But There Are No Such Plans for Today
- Regarding compulsory military service – it is suspended, not abolished. By virtue of an act from the first decade of this century, it was suspended, but not abolished. It can be reinstated at any moment, although there are no such plans currently within the ministry or the [Polish Army General Staff] – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference.
- This discussion is ongoing. It continues among civilians, military personnel, in various dimensions, and among our citizens. It is ongoing in different countries. We have adopted a strategy of universal, voluntary defense training, and through this, identifying and recruiting as many individuals interested in military service as possible. Changes to the reserve this year are crucial for us – he continued.
14:32
- The Prosecutor General, Waldemar Żurek, today submitted to the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, a motion for the Sejm of the Republic of Poland to consent to the prosecution of Member of Parliament Michał Woś for criminal liability - the National Prosecutor's Office announced.
Prokurator Generalny Waldemar Żurek przekazał dzisiaj do Marszałka Sejmu RP wniosek o wyrażenie przez Sejm zgody na pociągnięcie posła Michała Wosia do odpowiedzialności karnej. ⬇️https://t.co/1Nwg5SMTKb

16:37
Żurek:
Coalition Representatives Discuss How to Reconstitute the Constitutional Tribunal
- As you know, coalition representatives are discussing how to reconstitute the Constitutional Tribunal so that it consists of apolitical, good lawyers, making it an authentic tribunal. We will see, I want to know if the Marshal foresees these announcements [regarding vacancies in the CT] this month - stated Waldemar Żurek in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.
16:39
Żurek:
Accountability is in full swing
- As you have heard today, we also have another round of accountability. We have charges against Mr. Bąkiewicz, a motion filed with the Marshal of the Sejm to lift Mr. Woś's immunity, and further charges in the case of the Fund for the Just (Fundusz Sprawiedliwości), concerning irregularities that occurred there – stated Waldemar Żurek in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.
- So, these accountability measures are proceeding at full steam. As far as prosecutors are able and take action, we will continue and bring those individuals who misappropriated funds from the State Treasury, exceeded their powers, and exposed the State Treasury to losses, to justice – he continued.
18:14
Cenckiewicz on Czarzasty’s Contacts:
If the President Cannot Learn About Such Stories Through Normal Channels, Then the National Security Council is Probably a Good Place.
– This is the President’s idea [for “the eastern social and business contacts of Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty” to be a topic for the National Security Council], which I naturally support – Sławomir Cenckiewicz said in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio ZET’s “Three Questions at the End of the Day.”
– If it is the case that the President cannot learn about such stories through normal channels, then the National Security Council is probably a good place to ask, for instance, representatives of the special services, i.e., the coordinating minister, about the verification process. Or Marshal Czarzasty himself – he stated.
18:24
Cenckiewicz on Wednesday's National Security Council Meeting:
No Show or Attack.
- There will be no show or attack, and we are prepared for every response. But we would like to have a serious discussion about state matters, and that is the President's intention. After all, National Security Council meetings are not convened just like that, even once a month, but when there is something significant to discuss, and this is [Włodzimierz Czarzasty's contacts] one of the significant elements to discuss - said Sławomir Cenckiewicz in "Three Questions at the End of the Day" on Radio ZET.
- Of course, this meeting has its own gradation, and the most important issues are those framed in this way: the issue of the SAFE program, the SAFE loan, the issue of the Peace Council and Poland's potential participation in this council. And then the issue of […], new information that has been revealed by Gazeta Polska - he continued.
18:35
- This is the President’s idea [for the “social and business contacts of the Marshal of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, with the East” to be a topic for the National Security Bureau], which I naturally support - said Sławomir Cenckiewicz in the "Three Questions at the End of the Day" program on Radio ZET.
18:39
"My visit [to the Pentagon] is planned for a different time, and it was known from the outset that I was not going there [in December with the BBN delegation]," Sławomir Cenckiewicz said on Radio ZET's "Three Questions at the End of the Day."
"Perhaps in March, perhaps in April. We'll see," he announced.
18:47
Cenckiewicz:
By Presidential Decision, I Will Not Access Classified Information Until the NSA Ruling
- By the President's decision, we consider that regarding materials and information of a classified nature – and this is easily verifiable, as anyone who accesses secret, confidential, or top-secret material simply records this fact in the appropriate registers – I will not familiarize myself with such materials until the NSA ruling, said Sławomir Cenckiewicz in "Three Questions at the End of the Day" on Radio ZET.
19:08
Cenckiewicz on SAFE:
The President Cannot Sign a Pig in a Poke.
- Since we are inquiring and do not know, and the President is including, so to speak, the issue of SAFE in the National Security Council's agenda, it means we do not have answers to all questions - said Sławomir Cenckiewicz in “Three Questions at the End of the Day” on Radio ZET.
- If this loan is transparent in the sense that every zloty spent on this loan will be scrutinized, controlled five times, that the companies that will be tasked with carrying out these specific tasks [...] will have the production capacity to produce ammunition, combat vehicles, and a whole series of other products - then it's okay. Only we need to know what the President might potentially sign, if it comes to this law - he continued.
- The President cannot sign a pig in a poke. The President must know what is hidden behind this law. And that is what we demand and what we want to discuss at the RBN [National Security Council] - he pointed out.
- The Commander-in-Chief, responsible for the security of the nation and state, should say: "I am signing the law, dear compatriots, you will be paying it off until 2070. I will be 99 years old then, if I am even alive. But essentially, I don't know what else these funds will be spent on, because apart from what is sometimes said in public space, thanks to the government, I don't know any details”? - he stated.
19:36
- The analysis of the annex [to the WSI liquidation report] has been completed. [...] General Andrzej Kowalski, my deputy, led this analysis - Sławomir Cenckiewicz said on "Three Questions at the End of the Day" on Radio ZET.
- We are, so to speak, on the eve of an additional, I would say, analysis, which will already be a recommendation for the President on what from this material should be excluded, in the sense of considering the Constitutional Tribunal's ruling that prohibited the disclosure of names, codenames, officer names, and operational case codenames, so that they are not declassified - he continued.
- And then the President will make a decision on the extent to which the annex will be revealed and published - he indicated.
19:47
- I wouldn't count on it - said Adam Bodnar in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach" when asked if, in his opinion, Michał Woś would be "the next defector to Budapest" and join Ziobro and Romanowski.
- However, the gravity of the charges being leveled is of a completely different nature. These are rather, I would call them, charges related to the commission of official offenses connected with the establishment of an internal inspectorate within the Prison Service - he continued.
19:53
- I think that in a way, it's a summary of the governments he led, an act of destroying the Polish judiciary, an act of destroying the careers of many good people - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24, when asked how he viewed Zbigniew Ziobro's "escape from the Polish judiciary.".
19:58
Bodnar appeals to the President to sign the KRS bill:
He would go down in history.
- I can appeal to the President once again to sign the bill. I am aware of all the elaborations and texts that Minister Bogucki is publishing, and unfortunately, this bodes ill – said Adam Bodnar on TVN24 when asked about the KRS bill and the expected presidential decision.
- I would like to remind you that the healing of a constitutional body, such as the National Council of the Judiciary, depends on the President's signature. It depends on it that in a few months the President could make completely proper, normal judicial appointments that would not be questioned by anyone – he continued.
- He would indeed, one might say, go down in history as the one who laid the foundations for the reform of the judiciary – he went on to say.
20:05
Sikorski:
Trump Doesn't Offend Easily. Our Opposition's Concern is Excessive
- We are having a lively discussion. Donald Trump doesn't offend easily. His Vice President is someone who criticized him, and I remind you, the current mayor of New York even called him a fascist, yet he was invited to the White House, so it seems to me that the concern about not criticizing is excessive on the part of our opposition - stated Radosław Sikorski on TVP Info.
20:09
Sikorski:
As a former Marshal of the Sejm, I will particularly defend the dignity of the Marshal
- I believe that the role of every diplomat is to broaden their range of contacts with the authorities of the host country. In our system, the Marshal of the Sejm is not only the supreme authority over the government, but also the vice-president, and we know that this was not theoretical. As a former Marshal of the Sejm, I will particularly defend the dignity of the Marshal of the Sejm - stated Radosław Sikorski on TVP Info.
20:09
Sikorski on the US Ambassador:
I hope he also draws conclusions from this situation.
- We are in contact quite often; we are in constant communication with the American authorities. I saw Secretary Rubio literally a few days ago. The [US] Ambassador accepted our suggestion after a conversation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and laid flowers at the monument to veterans of Polish foreign missions. I hope he also draws conclusions from this situation - stated Radosław Sikorski on TVP Info.
20:13
Sikorski on the Opposition:
They Believe Subservience and Being a Sucker are the Only Permissible Relations with Our Great Ally.
- Today we have an opposition that believes subservience and being a sucker are the only permissible relations with our great ally - stated Radosław Sikorski on TVP Info.
