Hołownia on the government dispute regarding CPK:

Building the Y-shaped rail won't save the world.

This is a dispute we are having within the government about the shape of high-speed rail, because I don't think that building the Y-shaped line in Poland will save the world. That is, the connection Warsaw-Poznań-Szczecin-Wrocław. We cannot allocate an additional 15 billion [zloty] to high-speed rail and simultaneously take away 9 billion from local railways – said Szymon Hołownia in Piaseczno.

Today, our raison d'état is to have a proper rail connection from Płock to Warsaw, to finally build the kind of railway needed from Grudziądz to Gdańsk. And just a moment ago I was in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, the largest city in Europe without a railway, and we have over 400 cities without railways in Poland out of a little over a thousand we have. CPK will be built – he added.
