The political week will begin with the inauguration of Donald Trump's presidency, attended by leading politicians from Law and Justice (PiS), headed by Mateusz Morawiecki. President Duda will travel to Davos for the economic forum, while candidates running for the office of President of the Republic of Poland will continue their nationwide campaign. This week also features sessions of the Sejm and the Senate.

Morawiecki at Trump's Presidential Inauguration. On Monday, Donald Trump will be officially sworn in as President of the USA. Poland is to be represented by, among others, ECR leader Mateusz Morawiecki and PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek, as well as MEP Dominik Tarczyński.

Duda in Davos. On Monday, President Andrzej Duda will begin his visit to Switzerland, in connection with his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos. The Head of State has planned meetings with, among others, the Prime Minister of Montenegro and the President of Singapore, and will also participate in an informal meeting of world economic leaders.

Another Week of the Presidential Campaign. The coming days will see further meetings with voters by presidential candidates – in the upcoming week, Karol Nawrocki is scheduled to be in Nowy Sącz, among other locations, and Rafał Trzaskowski in Szczecin.

Tusk in the EP. – I will soon have the opportunity, on January 21st, to speak before the European Parliament about the ambitious plans of the EU, the whole of Europe, and the Polish presidency during these very difficult, as we all know, six months – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the opening gala of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU. Ultimately, according to the EP's work schedule, the address will take place on Wednesday.

Government on Ban on Sale of Nicotine-Free E-cigarettes to Minors. At its Tuesday session, the Council of Ministers will consider, among other things, a draft law prohibiting the sale to persons under 18 years of age of all types of e-cigarettes, including those not containing nicotine, and banning the smoking of nicotine-free e-cigarettes in, among other places, schools and children's playgrounds.

Sejm on Incidental Law. On Tuesday, the committee is scheduled to convene again to consider the so-called incidental law project – in practice, this concerns the Supreme Court resolving cases related to this year's presidential elections. Theoretically, it is possible that the Sejm will consider the proposal from Poland 2050 during its session commencing on Wednesday.

Sejm on Visas. During the aforementioned session, the first reading will take place of the government's draft amendment to certain laws aimed at eliminating irregularities in the visa system of the Republic of Poland.

Sejm on Immunity. The Sejm may also consider a bill submitted following the case of Marcin Romanowski – it concerns the regulation of the legal situation of a member of parliament or senator against whom a decision on temporary arrest has been issued.

Senate on the Presidency. The upper house will convene on Wednesday for a two-day session. The agenda will primarily focus on the program of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union (January 1 – June 30, 2025).

Banaś Before Investigative Committee. On Friday, the Pegasus investigative committee will interrogate – partly in a closed session – the President of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK), Marian Banaś.
