POLITICAL GAME: Sejm: Kempa directs billboards to CBA, Majmurek: PAD doesn't invite nationalists, Łapiński: Projects due 09.25

-- KAZIK STASZEWSKI IS A FAN OF MAZUREK AND THE DISPUTE BETWEEN ZIEMKIEWICZ AND ŁYSIAK - as he says in RZ: “I’m also gradually putting down newspapers. For general orientation, I only buy 'Gazeta Wyborcza' on Mondays – because on that day it has an excellent sports section and a historical supplement, as well as 'Do Rzeczy,' because of Warzecha and Ziemkiewicz and Łysiak, as I love it when these last two argue. 'Sieci' is boring, despite Mazurek and Zaremba being present. In 'Wyborcza' and 'Do Rzeczy,' the narrative workshop is, unfortunately, more or less the same. Only the content is different. On Fridays, I buy 'Wyborcza' for 'Co Jest Grane,' and on Saturdays, 'Plus Minus.' It's interesting like a short book. I like the layout of themed issues. I do regret the lack of interviews by Robert Mazurek.”

-- DUDA IS NOT ADRIAN - Kazik continues: “Do I watch Kaczyński? Kaczyński isn't stupid. He knows how to keep his pack in check. President Duda makes a sympathetic impression on me, and from my anarchist perspective, vetoing laws also makes a good impression. The President is not an Adrian, as suggested, who exclusively follows orders from the party leader. And it's good when all power isn't concentrated in one pair of 'hands.' Mr. Andrzej, not-Adrian – courage! But we still live in a unique country where a rank-and-file MP holds all the power in their hands.” http://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/309149947-Kazik-Staszewski-Jaroslaw-Kaczynski-nie-jest-glupi-Prezydent-Andrzej-Duda-robi-na-mnie-sympatyczne-wrazenie.html?template=restricted

-- KEMPA SENT THE BILLBOARD MATTER TO THE CBA - Sylwester Ruszkiewicz in SE: “An unexpected visit from Prime Minister Beata Szydło (54) to Jarosław Kaczyński (68)! As 'Super Express' has learned, the party leader was furious with the head of government for not defending the billboard campaign supporting judicial reform. Meanwhile, the CBA, after a notification from the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Beata Kempa (51), is looking into the activities of the former colleagues of the Prime Minister whose company was awarded a contract for this campaign.” http://www.se.pl/wiadomosci/polityka/szydo-pojechaa-tumaczyc-sie-z-billboardow_1018103.html

-- ANDRZEJ, WE ARE NOT NAIVE IN ANY WAY - A TENSION BETWEEN PAD AND THE GERMAN PRESIDENT: “To these words, the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, responded. As he emphasized, his country decided to accept refugees from the conflict zone for humanitarian reasons, and 'not – as the Polish President said – out of political correctness.' 'We are fully aware of the current situation and, Andrzej, we are not naive in any way,' Steinmeier stressed, addressing Duda by his first name.” https://wiadomosci.wp.pl/andrzej-duda-starl-sie-z-prezydentem-niemiec-nie-jestesmy-naiwni-6166422875862657a

-- JAKUB MAJMUREK POINTS OUT THAT PAD DID NOT INVITE NATIONALISTS TO THE COMMITTEE: “On the other hand, Duda did not invite anyone from the circles of the infamous Independence March to the truly pluralistic committee for the centenary of independence – perhaps being aware that centrist voters associate it mainly with violence, hatred, and extremism.”

-- MAJMUREK ON DUDA'S GAME: “For the opposition, Duda's new independence is a difficult nut to crack. On the one hand, it offers hope that the president will block the wildest projects from Nowogrodzka Street. It allows for exploiting differences within the ruling camp. On the other hand, with an independent, subject Duda, winning the presidential elections in 2020 will not be easy at all. And with the current president in the palace, even if a majority is assembled in the Sejm, it will be extremely difficult for the opposition to govern.” https://opinie.wp.pl/jakub-majmurek-gra-dudy-dopiero-sie-zaczyna-6166369543407745a

-- PROFESSOR SZAHAJ ON SARMACIAN POP-LIBERALISM: “Liberalism in Poland, under the guise of its Western and modern character, has legitimized our Sarmatian flaws, primarily the aversion to the state, the cult of force, and contempt for the weaker.” http://liberte.pl/sarmacki-popliberalizm/

-- GERMAN INVESTMENTS IN HUNGARY HAVE INCREASED - Prof. Mark Blyth in an interview with Kultura Liberalna (Pawłowski): “But we are not talking about leaving the Union, but about abandoning an important macroeconomic management tool, which is one's own currency. Over the last decade, the EU has transferred $60 billion to Poland in the form of structural investments. There is no question of the EU 'giving up' this money. It is true that the current government's actions can be irritating, but let's look at German capital investments in Hungary. Not only have they not been halted, but they have increased, despite the politics. So yes, the rhetoric may be intensifying, but I prefer to follow the flow of money. And the money shows me large investments, and therefore, whether you adopt the euro or not, no one will abandon Poland.”

-- BLYTH ON THE BENEFITS OF THE EURO: “You speak as if there were no benefits to having a common currency.”

“I'll throw it back at you. What are the real benefits of having a common currency?”

“It lowers transaction costs.”

“And do you really think people lose sleep at night thinking: 'Oh my, I'm so glad transaction costs are lower'? I get paid in US dollars, Donald Trump is president, and yet I know those banknotes will be around in 10, 15, or 20 years, just like the American economy. With the euro, I don't have that certainty.”

-- BLYTH ON RANDOM REDISTRIBUTION: “We are being sold a nice story that we are all growing, getting richer, and specializing. That is not the case, and that is precisely why Trump won the election. If we look at the Midwest of the United States, we see a drained, impoverished place. Meanwhile, in the cities on the East and West Coasts, two-room apartments cost a million dollars. There has been a random redistribution of assets and incomes that has flowed into the pockets of a few. The rest of society looks around and asks: why are all these guys telling me everything is fine when it clearly isn't?” http://kulturaliberalna.pl/2017/09/12/mark-blyth-unia-polska-euro/

-- KRZYSZTOF ŁAPIŃSKI: PROJECTS DUE 09.25 - as he tells Fakt: “During the talks, President Andrzej Duda emphasized that by vetoing two laws on the Supreme Court and the National Council of the Judiciary in July, he declared that he hoped to present his own projects within two months. September 25th is a good date due to the two months that have passed since the veto. The final decision will likely be made by the president after his return from the UN General Assembly in New York. The work on the laws is nearing completion.”

-- CAMPAIGN EXPENSIVE AND UNNECESSARY? - as Łapiński says in response to Fakt's question: “In my opinion, the PFN's actions do not concern the presidential laws, as they have not yet been submitted. This campaign is an action independent of the work ongoing in the presidential chancellery.”

“- So is the PFN campaign unnecessary and, moreover, expensive?”

“That is a decision of the PFN management and the people who run this Foundation. That question is not for us.”

-- ŁAPIŃSKI ON PETRU'S STANCE: “You rightly noted that Ryszard Petru was the only one among all the people present at the meetings who expressed some skepticism.” http://www.fakt.pl/wydarzenia/polityka/rzecznik-prezydenta-dla-fakt24-reforma-sadow-bedzie-za-tydzien/xfptkpv

-- KOWALCZYK DENIES CITIZEN PENSIONS: “- The green paper prepared by ZUS does not talk about a citizen pension. This document contains analyses concerning projected revenues from pension contributions, forecasts regarding amounts paid out by ZUS, etc. Of course, we know that ZUS is not self-sufficient, it never has been, and it has always received subsidies from the state budget. And we must be aware that this will probably continue in the future. All the more so because the number of pensioners is significantly higher. However, the PiS government has never had the idea of introducing a citizen pension.”

-- KOWALCZYK ON IT BEING AS IT WAS: “- Minor modifications can always occur, but generally, the system will remain as it functions now. That is, a system that makes pension amounts dependent on the number of years worked and the amount of contributions paid.” http://www.se.pl/wiadomosci/opinie/henryk-kowalczyk-niemamowyoem-eryturach-obywatelskich_1018104.html

-- EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF SE ON SUPPORT FOR PIS AND GETTING INTO A RUT LIKE TUSK: “The billboard affair showed that public money is treated party-politically, not publicly. Moreover, spending millions of zlotys to convince people about changes in the courts, to which these people are generally convinced, is simply senseless. I dislike the disguised increase in taxes, as in the case of landlords, because it is simply milking citizens. Meanwhile, GDP will not grow because some Poles are milked to give to another group. It doesn't work like that. The government's task is to shape the law in such a way that Poles get richer, that they catch up in earnings with Western Europe. I am writing this so that someone doesn't accidentally get carried away by this record support, because I don't want to listen to new Tusks saying 'there's no one to lose to,' because I remember the end of that farce.” http://www.se.pl/wiadomosci/opinie/zawsze-jestem-za-rzadem-z-tym-ze-nie-zawsze_1018108.html

-- JACEK KARNOWSKI ON REPARATIONS SERVING RELATIONS WITH GERMANY: “If someone claims that reparations will harm Polish-German reconciliation, they subconsciously assume that it is not true reconciliation, but a kind of political arrangement in which the stronger party conditions proper relations on the silence of the weaker party regarding the lack of compensation for inflicted wrongs. Resolving the issue of reparations is an action for the future, for harmonious and sincere neighborliness of our nations in the coming decades and centuries.” https://wpolityce.pl/polityka/358010-to-bzdura-ze-reparacje-zaszkodza-pojednaniu-polsko-niemieckiemu-one-pojednanie-umocnia-i-utrwala-dadza-mu-solidny-fundament-na-przyszlosc -- ARE YOU FROM PIS? YOU'LL PERFORM IN OPOLE - Fakt on the front page: “NaVi and Omen do not play large concerts. Their hits are watched and listened to online not by millions but by a handful of fans. So where does their presence among the stars come from? Because the leaders of both bands are activists... of Law and Justice! The vocalist of the band Omen is Tomasz Siwak (44). Since March 2017, he has been the president of the management board of PGE Energia Odnawialna SA. When PiS governed in the years 2005-2007, he dealt with office and residential real estate in the Prime Minister's Chancellery. According to our information, a large group of employees from his company is traveling to Opole. – These are people from the president’s circle, directors who came with him from his previous company – says our informant from PGE.” http://www.fakt.pl/wydarzenia/polityka/jestes-z-pis-to-wystapisz-w-opolu/w2ycblw

-- MAKŁOWICZ'S SUCCESSOR IS TWICE AS EXPENSIVE AND THE MONEY GOES TO THE PRODUCER OF THE PIS CAMPAIGN - Agnieszka Kublik in GW: “At Woronicza, I also hear that SOS Music has been close to the Kaczyński family for years, including Jan Maria Tomaszewski, the maternal cousin of the Kaczyński brothers, now the grey eminence of TVP. – They have always been close to PiS – says our informant – I'm not surprised they're making so much money at Woronicza now. These are golden times for them.” http://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,22377015,polski-grill-dwa-razy-drozszy-niz-podroze-maklowicza-producent.html

-- THE PRIME MINISTER DOES NOT LOOK AT WHAT SHE SIGNS - Fakt on Radziwiłł's draft law.

-- STANISŁAW SKARŻYŃSKI ON BŁASZCZAK AS KACZYŃSKI'S MISIEWICZ - he writes in GW: “He cannot be considered a product of an unfulfilled need for fame, typical of almost all outstanding specialists, as is the case with Piotr Gliński and Konstanty Radziwiłł, because he is not a specialist in any field. He likes to show off his meager historical knowledge – he recently called Józef Piłsudski's mound the Mound of the Independence Deed, confusing it with the Museum of the Independence Deed in Krakow. (...) Looking at this incomplete collection of unwise decisions and even less wise words, it is hard to believe that the label 'President's Misiewicz' has not yet stuck to the Minister of Interior. Perhaps because Mariusz Błaszczak is the prototype of Bartłomiej Misiewicz.” http://wyborcza.pl/osiemdziewiec/7,159012,22379116,u-prezesa-za-piecem-mariusz-blaszczak-i-zapomniana-smiesznosc.html

-- RESZKA LIKE KANIA AND WYBRANOWSKI - TOMASZ PIĄTEK IN A LETTER TO THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF NEWSWEEK, published by GW: “I appreciate that the author of 'Newsweek,' Paweł Reszka, attempted a substantive critique of my book. This is a welcome change after the insults and lies I have encountered from right-wing reviewers. However, I must sadly state that Mr. Reszka turned out to be little more reliable than Wojciech Wybranowski from 'Do Rzeczy' and Dorota Kania from 'Gazeta Polska' http://wyborcza.pl/magazyn/7,124059,22379004,tomasz-piatek-newsweeku-bagatelizuje-podane-przeze-mnie.html

-- JANUSZ KACZMAREK ON LEWICA'S ACCOUNTS IN SWITZERLAND - he tells Eliza Olczyk in RZ: “From what I know, proceedings in this matter have been resumed. I will not make the mistake of talking about my visit to Switzerland and what I saw there a second time, although I can no longer 'unsee' it.”

-- KACZMAREK ON THE LESSONS LEARNED BY ZIOBRO: “Zbigniew Ziobro made many mistakes between 2005 and 2007, which were pointed out by the parliamentary investigative committee. In my opinion, he learned that lesson perfectly, because amendments were introduced to the prosecutor's office act that allow the minister, whoever they may be, to do what the law previously prohibited or did not regulate. Previously, the Minister of Justice could not publicize a case in the media without the consent of the prosecutor in charge, nor could they submit investigation materials to third parties or the media. Today, the law gives the minister such possibilities. This indicates that certain analogies with those times exist. Minister Ziobro can do the same as in 2005-2007, but under the guise of law.” http://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/309149929-Janusz-Kaczmarek-Zbigniew-Ziobro-doskonale-odrobil-lekcje.html?template=restricted

-- TOMASZ KRZYŻAK AS THE POLISH ANGEL IN RZ: “Finally, an appeal to you, my dearest righteous Zbigniew! After all, you might feel a bit overlooked in all of this, abandon thoughts of revenge. This is not the right path. Jarosław and Beata! You are exaggerating a bit with these large posters. That was not the agreement... Not like that…” http://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/309149926-Aniol-Polak-Na-szczescie-nie-dali-Wam-cepow.html?template=restricted

-- ADAM KĄDZIELA, HEAD OF MŁODZI NOWOCZESNY, EXPLAINS HOW HE RECORDED TVP INFO JOURNALISTS IN FRONT OF THE SEJM - as he tells Piotr Witwicki in RZ: “They were posing for some camera and for quite a while, they were showing the middle finger, provoking, and then mocking the fact that one of the protesters was detained. In fact, this last incident decided me to publish this video.”

-- KĄDZIELA ON LEADERS OF COMPETITION FOR NOWOCZESNA: “Elections are a bit like sending a team to the Olympic Games. In two years, we will decide who will represent us: whether Jarosław Kaczyński bundled with Krystyna Pawłowicz and Antoni Macierewicz, or Grzegorz Schetyna bundled with the 'octopus' and hot water in the tap, or Paweł Kukiz bundled with nationalists, or Ryszard Petru bundled with a young and honest team that thinks about the future. We can entrust this task to tired politicians, a singer, or an economist. For many of my friends, the choice is obvious because, for them, Nowoczesna is not a 'Januszy' party.”

-- KĄDZIELA ON HIS DOGS: “I have a wonderful girlfriend and two wonderful dogs. I recommend adopting malamutes to everyone. I have two. One is Andrzej.”

“- Is it in honor of the president?”

“- I simply renamed Anori to Andrzej, and he responds. He is a loyal dog. And the second one is named.”

“- Beata?”

“- Ama... and she is a tripod. I love dogs. Andrzej even appeared once at a leaflet distribution during my campaign. It turned out he can attract voters.” http://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/309149951-Adam-Kadziela-Armia-trolli-zaklamuje-w-Internecie-rzeczywistosc.html?template=restricted

-- MICHAŁ SZUŁDRZYŃSKI ON THE EU'S PROBLEM - he writes in RZ: “Because the Union does not have solely a technical or institutional problem. Its crisis – which is clearly visible in the tensions with Central European countries and Great Britain – concerns its spiritual dimension. If the House of European History, which I described a week ago, presenting the thoughts of only two philosophers – Aristotle and Žižek, and reducing Christianity solely to the problem of religious fanaticism – is considered a sample of the intellectual state of representatives of the Brussels establishment, it is hard to believe that any sobering up will come from Brussels. Opponents of European integration may have reasons to rejoice.” http://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/309149948-Michal-Szuldrzynski-Jean-Claude-Juncker-bez-wizji-przyszlosci-UE.html
