-- 57 PERCENT OF RESPONDENTS INDICATED A NEGATIVE OPINION OF TUSK'S ACTIVITIES, WHILE 37 PERCENT POSITIVELY ASSESSED HIS ACTIVITY IN MARCH (A 5 PERCENTAGE POINT DROP COMPARED TO JANUARY) - IBRIS FOR PAP: "Donald Tusk - according to the poll - is experiencing a decline in positive ratings for the second month in a row; he also has the highest level of negative assessments. 37 percent of respondents positively assessed his activity in March (a 1 percentage point drop compared to February; a 5 percentage point drop compared to January), of whom 13 percent expressed a decidedly positive opinion about his work. A negative opinion on Tusk's activities was indicated by 57 percent of respondents (35 percent chose the answer: 'decidedly bad'). 6 percent of those surveyed answered 'I don't know/difficult to say'."
-- CZARZASTY HAS HIGHER RATINGS THAN TUSK - FURTHER IBRIS FOR PAP: "IBRiS also asked respondents to assess the activities of Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who - as noted - improved his ratings in March. 42 percent of those asked expressed a positive opinion about his work (of whom 28 percent rate him 'rather well'), which means an increase of 6 percentage points compared to February and 2 percentage points compared to January. 50 percent of those surveyed have a negative opinion of Czarzasty's activities."
-- THE PRESIDENT IMPROVED HIS RATINGS BY 2 PERCENTAGE POINTS SINCE JANUARY - ACCORDING TO IBRIS FOR PAP: "In March, 50 percent of respondents positively assessed the activities of President Karol Nawrocki, of whom 24 percent think decidedly well of his work. The total March result for Nawrocki's activities is a 3 percentage point drop compared to the February poll and a 2 percentage point increase compared to the Institute's January survey. 46 percent of those asked expressed a negative opinion about the president's work."

-- IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SPECTACULAR, EFFECTIVE, AND QUICK. SO FAR, ONLY THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE'S FAILURES IN THE MOST MEDIATIZED CASES ARE SPECTACULAR - DOMINIKA DŁUGOSZ IN NEWSWEEK: "It was supposed to be spectacular, effective, and quick. So far, only the prosecutor's office's failures in the most mediatized cases are spectacular. This includes a poorly drafted request to encumber Zbigniew Ziobro's assets with a mortgage, which was rejected by the court; ineffective attempts to extradite the former head of RARS, Michał Kuczmierowski; and Grzegorz Braun, who is leading the judiciary by the nose and remains unconvicted despite evident proof of his guilt."
-- THE PRIME MINISTER IS THE BRAKE, WHICH IS WHY IF THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE DOES NOT INTRODUCE "FORCEFUL" SOLUTIONS, IT IS SOLELY BECAUSE HE DOES NOT HAVE CONSENT - FURTHER DŁUGOSZ IN NEWSWEEK: "Therefore, if the minister of justice does not introduce 'forceful' solutions, it is solely because he does not have consent. 'The prime minister is the brake,' explains our interlocutor. But Donald Tusk is also not in an easy situation. He can either act like PiS, recklessly, or try to maintain at least minimal standards applicable in the rule of law. He chose the latter, and this does not satisfy either his voters or the hawks in his party. 'The judiciary must operate in accordance with the law, and this is probably not overly surprising? And if it operates according to the law, it must take time. We are not the kind of people who make accusations and issue verdicts in the privacy of political offices,' people from the prime minister's entourage say irritably."

-- IT'S ONLY WORSE IN ROMANIA, BUT THEY ARE TAKING SOME STEPS, SO SOON POLAND COULD BE EUROPE'S RECORD HOLDER WITH THE LARGEST BUDGET DEFICIT - SAYS SŁAWOMIR DUDEK, CHAIRMAN OF THE FISCAL COUNCIL, IN AN INTERVIEW WITH KONRAD SADURSKI IN NEWSWEEK: "But let's not fool ourselves, in our little house, we have a big elephant: it's the huge state budget deficit and growing debt. The European Commission has placed us under the excessive deficit procedure. It's only worse in Romania, but they are taking some steps, so soon Poland could be Europe's record holder with the largest budget deficit. Fitch and Moody's agencies have already changed our rating outlook to negative."
-- WE ARE SIMPLY VERY POORLY PREPARED FOR THE MOMENT WHEN A 'BLACK SWAN' APPEARS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH SUDDENLY COLLAPSES - FURTHER DUDEK IN NEWSWEEK: "Relying solely on the sentiments of so-called markets is, however, an exceptionally fragile foundation for state security. We are simply very poorly prepared for the moment when a 'black swan' appears and economic growth suddenly collapses."
-- ANOTHER RED LIGHT HAS TURNED ON: LET'S COME TO OUR SENSES A BIT AND START SERIOUSLY TALKING ABOUT HOW TO ENSURE STATE SECURITY - STILL DUDEK WITH SADURSKI IN NEWSWEEK: "Another red light has turned on: let's come to our senses a bit and start seriously talking about how to ensure state security. After all, it doesn't depend solely on the number of tanks and cannons. We need stable public finances for this, to have safety buffers for times of crisis."
-- WE HAVE PUBLIC EXPENDITURE HIGHER THAN IN SWEDEN, HUGE CHALLENGES RELATED TO THE MODERNIZATION OF THE ARMED FORCES, AND LOW TAXES. THIS IS AN UNSUSTAINABLE MODEL - FURTHER DUDEK WITH SADURSKI: "Certainly not a Korean one. We have public expenditure higher than in Sweden, huge challenges related to the modernization of the armed forces, and low taxes. This is an unsustainable model. Someone will say that we will catch the rich, bankers, developers, tax them, and fix public finances. This is an illusion that only looks good on slides. It is enough to show what taxes the Swedes and Danes have, and the lie will immediately come out. As a council, we will point out these inconsistencies. There may be a political dispute, but let this debate be public and honest."

-- THE WEB OF THE PSL HAS ENTANGLED PKP COMPANIES. THIS IS HOW 'BIG DAREK' AND 'LITTLE DAREK' RULE POLISH RAILWAYS - JAROSŁAW OSOWSKI: "The PSL aims for full control in PKP. The party has placed its people in various railway companies and is dealing with proponents of too-large reforms, including opening passenger transport to competition. The Polish People's Party has given the Ministry of Infrastructure to Dariusz Klimczak, a historian and political scientist, and PKP to Dariusz Grajda. He is considered the top personnel manager here after moving from Koleje Mazowieckie. In the ministry and the industry, both are jokingly referred to as 'Big and Little Darek'."
-- HERE KINGA, THERE HANNA, THERE THE MINISTER WAS AT A WEDDING - FURTHER IN OSSOWSKI'S ARTICLE IN GW: "From the Otwock district, after Grajda, PSL councilor Kinga Błaszczyk went to work at PKP Intercity. The so-called Skierniewice-Łódź group also has a strong representation in the company. And within it is Hanna Jażdżyk, a member of the board. According to Onet, her husband is the mayor of Skierniewice, Krzysztof Jażdżyk, and Dariusz Klimczak attended their wedding. When asked about this, the minister provided information through the resort's spokesperson, Rafał Jaśkowski, who previously was responsible for the promotion of the municipal office in Głowno near Łódź and worked in the Marshal's Office in Łódź. Klimczak was a member of the provincial board there."

-- WORK ON NEW DRAFT LAWS HAS PRACTICALLY STALLED IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF JOLANTA SOBIERAŃSKA-GRENDA - JUDYTA WATOŁA IN GW: "In the Ministry of Health under the leadership of Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, work on new draft laws has practically stalled. She only managed to get one draft law passed. It concerned the amendment to the law on the Medical Fund to save the finances of the NFZ, which was prepared before Sobierańska-Grenda took office."
-- IF THE MINISTRY'S MANAGEMENT IS INTENSELY DEALING WITH ANYTHING, IT IS STAFF CHANGES - FURTHER WATOŁA IN GW: "If the ministry's management is intensely occupied with anything, it is staff changes. Since the new minister took office at the end of July, over 70 people have left the ministry, and another dozen or so are on notice. This is almost one-tenth of all employees."

-- POLAND'S LARGEST CRYPTOCURRENCY EXCHANGE MAY HAVE SERIOUS LIQUIDITY PROBLEMS - KAROLINA WYSOTA AND SZYMON JADCZAK IN WP: "Poland's largest cryptocurrency exchange may have serious liquidity problems. An analysis obtained by money.pl and Wirtualna Polska reveals a 99 percent drop in the bitcoin reserves of the Zondacrypto exchange. Users are reporting problems with withdrawing funds, and at least some clubs sponsored by the exchange have not received payments due for months. At the same time, over PLN 76 million was withdrawn from Zonda to another exchange. Zonda - through its CEO, Przemysław Kral - opposed the regulations proposed in the government's draft law, which, in their opinion, went beyond the guidelines of the EU regulator. Politicians associated with PiS, including MP Janusz Kowalski, and President Karol Nawrocki, who vetoed the law on December 1, 2025, which introduced supervision over exchanges like Zonda and additional capital requirements, supported the company's stance."

-- PUBLIC HOSPITAL, PRIVATE PROCEDURE FOR A CLOSE RELATIVE OF A KO SENATOR - MICHAŁ JANCZURA IN WP: "In a public hospital, without a queue, without consent for the procedure, and without documentation. This is how a person from the immediate family of KO senator Tomasz Lenz was allegedly to be operated on. The anesthesiologist, to perform the procedure, left his shift in intensive care. The director of the hospital in Aleksandrów Kujawski does not rule out that after the investigation is completed, the facility will inform the relevant institutions, including law enforcement agencies. 'The patient should have gone to the emergency room, then been admitted to the ward, and only then to the operating room. Ordinary people wait in line, and they entered as if they owned the place,' a hospital employee who contacted us with a request to investigate the matter told us."
