-- "PLATFORM IS INCAPABLE OF WINNING ELECTIONS. KRAKÓW WAS A SIGNIFICANT BATTLEGROUND FOR CIVIC PLATFORM AND THEY LOST IT BY THEIR OWN FAULT" - ANDRZEJ STANKIEWICZ ON TVP INFO IN LIQUIDATION: “The simplest things played a role. But then the big politics began, because Kraków is simply an important city, and Michalski was an important politician. Platform is incapable of winning elections, Platform is incapable of defending its people. What the Marshal [Niedziela] is saying amuses me, because a similar situation occurred between the first and second rounds of the presidential elections, exactly a year ago, when Rafał Trzaskowski’s campaign was clearly not going well, and he was also offered help. He rejected that help. Only a party thinks in terms of its own interest, not Michalski's or Trzaskowski's interest. And a party's ability is to create events such that it controls, has influence, has experts, has people who defend important fronts for it. Kraków was an important front for Civic Platform, and they lost it by their own fault.”

-- "A BOY CYCLED ACROSS POLAND TO RAISE MONEY FOR HIS SICK CHILD, AND THEY ARE SPENDING HUGE SUMS ON PROGRAM COUNCILS, COMMISSIONS. HAVE YOU NO SHAME?" - KRZYSZTOF STANOWSKI ON SUBSIDIES FOR ARTISTS' INSURANCE: “There will be a total of 145 members on the commission. We are bringing all these people into the budget and we will be paying them all money. Normally, when you have a budget, a deficit, and we lack money, you don't add new expenses to it,” Stanowski stated, detailing the potential earnings for commission members. “Each application assessed, positively or negatively, yields up to PLN 190 for a team member. This is a goldmine. I think the best is yet to come, because the commission doesn't decide whether someone is eligible for a premium subsidy or not, that will be verified by ZUS [Social Insurance Institution] later. The commission provides an opinion on whether to grant someone the status of a professional artist,” Stanowski said. He added that the Program Council of the Commission is to have 15 members, and 145 members will be part of its composition. “They all will have to be paid. Meanwhile, a boy cycled across Poland to raise money for children's treatment.”

-- "ALL THE PEOPLE EARNING MINIMUM WAGE, WHICH IS PROBABLY AROUND THREE MILLION PEOPLE IN POLAND, ARE TO SUBSIDIZE THOSE ARTISTS WHO EARN ABOVE MINIMUM WAGE" - STANOWSKI CONTINUES: “Where did the twelvefold increase come from all of a sudden? The situation was changed with a single word. Previously, we were to subsidize the contributions of artists living in poverty, so they would have pensions, as if they were earning the minimum wage. Now, all people earning the minimum wage, which is probably around three million people in Poland, are to subsidize those artists who earn above the minimum wage. Why should one professional group receive a subsidy for their contributions, even if they earn more than other professional groups that do not receive such subsidies?”

-- STANOWSKI ILLUSTRATES A SCHEME OF WASTING PUBLIC FUNDS: “You have no shame at all, people. This money is leaking. It's leaking everywhere. You're squandering it on a massive scale for friends, for the inner circle. These mileage allowances of yours. This is one great scandal, where are any priorities being maintained?”

-- "STOP FUNDING THE UNEMPLOYED, THE UNTALENTED, AND THE FREELOADERS" - SŁAWOMIR MENTZEN: “The project of paying pensions to artists who couldn't be bothered to pay contributions, who create art that nobody wants, is unfair to those Poles who are willing to work and who have to pay contributions. If an artist cannot earn a living, they are not an artist, but a hobbyist. They don't create art, they create junk. And if they try to rip us all off for money, then they are also thieves and they can get lost.”

-- "THE OLD SCHEME OF PITTING PIS AGAINST THE PRESIDENT HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. THE ATTACK OVER JUDGE KAPIŃSKI'S NOMINATION IS FLAGRANTLY UNACCEPTABLE" - MARZENA NYKIEL ON WPOLITYCE: “Instead of building unity on the success of the Kraków referendum and the removal of pathological authorities, we have chaos in the opposition, which is fighting the president! Building the narrative that 'Kapiński helped Wałęsa and Giertych, and Nawrocki appointed him First President of the Supreme Court' is an incomprehensible and unacceptable blow to the president. The slogans that 'he is restoring the post-communist order in the judiciary' sound equally absurd. And this at a time when the president is the last bastion of stability and state security. Who is this attack supposed to serve? How can one afford cheap revenge in the face of such serious threats? The president is looking for a way to resolve a powerful crisis in the area of the rule of law. That is probably why he nominated a judge whose case law is based on evidential reliability, and neither side can label him as biased.”

-- "THE KO CANDIDATE MAY HAVE TROUBLE EVEN REACHING THE SECOND ROUND, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S ANOTHER ACTIVIST OF THE MISZALSKI-TYPE PLATFORM" - PROF. ANTONI DUDEK IN CONVERSATION WITH KAROLINA LEWICKA ON TYGODNIK POLITYKA PODCAST: “I believe that even if he reaches the second round, that would be quite good. However, I fear he may even have trouble with that, especially if it's another activist of the Miszalski-type Platform. And it seems that such individuals are primarily vying for the nomination there, as there are no very significant figures in the Kraków Civic Coalition. Besides, the fact that Michalski could have been the leader there shows, to put it mildly, a weakness in personnel.”

-- "CIVIC COALITION MUST THINK ABOUT SOME CANDIDATE SIMPLY UNRELATED TO THIS PARTY" - PROF. DUDEK CONTINUES AT LEWICKA'S: “If Civic Coalition wants to have a sure place in the second round and perhaps a chance to win, they should think about some candidate simply unrelated to this party, i.e., a broadly recognizable figure.”

-- "TUSK'S PLAN IS TO DROWN ALL COALITION PARTNERS AND COUNT ON THE SPLINTERING OF EVERYONE, INCLUDING THE LEFT" - PROF. DUDEK CONTINUES: “When I look at what Donald Tusk is doing, I see a single strategic plan in it. One that aims to drown all coalition partners and count on the fragmentation of everyone, including the Left, and then enter with a 37.8% share. A self-sufficient majority is, of course, the maximum plan. It may be fantastic, but I don't see in Donald Tusk's actions over the last three years any desire to retain his coalition partners.”

-- "I PREFER THAT WE HAVE SUCH A NAWROCKI IN THIS ROLE, WHOM TRUMP IS POTENTIALLY WILLING TO SUPPORT IF NEED BE, RATHER THAN HAVING SOMEONE TRUMP WOULD DESPISE AND IN A SITUATION OF RUSSIAN THREAT MORE SERIOUS THAN CURRENTLY WOULD SAY SO, BUT I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT AT ALL" - PROF. DUDEK CONTINUES: “I prefer that we have such a Nawrocki in this role, whom Trump is potentially willing to support if need be, rather than having someone Trump would despise and in a situation of Russian threat more serious than currently would say so, but I don't care about that at all. I dismiss the whole of NATO as pointless, so it's better to have those American soldiers. I treat it as an insurance policy, personally not believing in Putin's aggression against Poland. But this, as I say, is my view, which may be entirely wrong and I may turn out to be mistaken. So, I think Russia will wage a hybrid war against us, and it is intensifying, these calls, in my opinion, with anonymous notifications, which were directed at people associated with the right.”

-- "IN MY OPINION, KLICH SHOULD NOT BE AN AMBASSADOR TO THE USA BECAUSE THE ROLE HE PLAYED IN THE SMOLENSK CATASTROPHE DISQUALIFIES HIM" - CLAIMS PROF. DUDEK: “This does not change the fact that I believe a different candidate could have been presented long ago than Bogdan Klich, who in my opinion should not be an ambassador to the United States, because the role he played in the Smolensk catastrophe, in my opinion, disqualifies him as a person fit for high state office.”

-- "IT IS PRECISELY HERE, IN KRAKÓW, THAT FOR MICHALSKI TO SEIZE POWER, THEY RESORTED TO USING GANGSTERS. NORMAL GANGSTERS, WHO IN BALACLAVAS ATTACKED THE HOME OF A RIVAL CANDIDATE" - JAN ROKITA ON KANAŁ ZERO: “In the election of Miszalski, PR agencies that were created to defame Łukasz Gibała played a decisive role, and then disappeared, dissolved, ceased to exist. Some online portals were created that exclusively engaged in massive defamation campaigns for large sums of money, after which they ceased to exist. They were anonymous. No one knew them. No one knew who owned them, where the money came from. Hidden main actors. This is the key mechanism of what I call a mafia style of politics. Fourth, and this is what truly distinguishes Kraków from even very failed politics in other Polish cities. This is sad for Kraków. It is precisely here, in Kraków, that for Michalski to seize power, they resorted to using gangsters. Normal gangsters, who in balaclavas attacked the home of a rival candidate, or rather the family of a rival candidate, searching for some compromising materials about him. This is a completely unprecedented story, precisely described, described by these two journalists. Yes, gangsters who are hired to influence the course of the elections and for someone to gain power.”

-- "IN POLAND, A CERTAIN FANTASTIC IDEA OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN AND CONTINUES TO BE SYSTEMATICALLY DEGENERATING" - JAN ROKITA CONTINUES ON KANAŁ ZERO: “In Poland, a certain fantastic idea of local self-government has been and continues to be systematically degenerating. In many cases, we are dealing with degenerate local self-government. I say this with particular pain. Yes, indeed, with personal regret, with sadness, for a simple reason, that is, I am a person who is deeply convinced that, theoretically at least, a decentralized model of governance, where people, as they say, take care of their own affairs at the lowest level, is better than centralism, and I will not dedicate any special exposition to this argument now. But I was also one of the people who, years ago, when I was involved in politics, devised, constructed, and tried to implement this self-government, and so on, and so forth.”

-- "PALERMO. UNDER WAWEL. WHAT IS PALERMO UNDER WAWEL? IT'S A CONSCIOUS POLICY THAT IN THE CITY, IN THE CITY CENTER, ONE SHOULD NOT LIVE, ONE SHOULD NOT DRIVE, THAT THE CITY CENTER SHOULD BE AN AMUSEMENT PARK" - ROKITA CONTINUES: “Miszalski was a participant in this game, this game of interests. He was not only a spokesperson but a participant in the game, this game for big money. He became, in a sense, one of its leaders. He did not play the role of a patron of this system of interests, but he became a big player. This exposed him to public opinion. All of this became too visible, too tangible. And this is, in my opinion, a very significant reason for his downfall. Journalists sometimes described this situation as the so-called Palermo. Under Wawel, Palermo. Under Wawel. What is Palermo under Wawel? It is a conscious policy that in the city, in the city center, one should not live, one should not drive, that the city center should be an amusement park, an amusement park for these masses of tourists, because only for this reason, only in this way, can this lobby pursue its interests, that there should be mediocre restaurants that only look good, feeding tourists as poorly as possible, but a narrow group of stakeholders will make big money from it. That's why nobody lives in the center of Kraków.”

-- "NOW KRAKÓW NEEDS A VERY ANTI-MAFIA MAYOR" - ROKITA CONTINUES: “Now Kraków needs a very anti-mafia mayor. This is crucial. If Kraków manages to elect an anti-mafia mayor, then perhaps these two hopes I speak of here can truly be fulfilled. And perhaps, just as in Kraków, corruption has gone further than elsewhere, so the repair and revival may begin in Kraków, may begin from Kraków.”

-- ROKITA ON GIBAŁA'S "STOLEN" VICTORY: “I don't know who will run in the next elections, but I know one thing: Łukasz Gibała, whose victory in the Kraków elections two years ago was brutally stolen by this group of interests. Such an almost certain victory. In Trump's language, it was a truly stolen victory. He probably would have had a chance to be such an anti-mafia mayor. I don't know if he will run, I don't know what his competitors will be, but I harbor the hope that after a period of such hopelessness, hope for anti-mafia governance in the interest of residents, rather than in the interest of a narrow lobby that wants to make only its big money in the city at the expense of the city, will return to Kraków. I harbor such hope.”
