-- PEŁCZYŃSKA IS DISTRIBUTING POSITIONS TO WIN PARTY ELECTIONS - ANDRZEJ STANKIEWICZ ON ONET: “Pełczyńska-Nałęcz's internal party opponents accuse her of distributing state positions to activists of Poland 2050 during the internal campaign to win them over to her side. Lists of such appointees are circulating within the party. Onet has one such list — it contains several dozen names of people who have received positions in two institutions subordinate to Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in recent months. These are Social Housing Initiatives (SIM) and the National Property Resource (KZN). Social Housing Initiatives are state-owned companies that are to build housing with low rent. In turn, KZN manages real estate belonging to the State Treasury, allocating it for housing construction.”

-- INSIDE THE PIS CLUB. JAROSŁAW KACZYŃSKI DISTANCES HIMSELF FROM COOPERATION WITH GRZEGORZ BRAUN - MICHAŁ KOLANKO IN RZ: “Kaczyński – according to sources of „Rzeczpospolita” – has definitively ruled out the possibility of cooperation with Grzegorz Braun's Confederation of the Polish Crown party. – ‘Even at the cost of a stalemate’ after the next elections. Such a word was uttered in Kaczyński's speech – adds another interlocutor from the party.”

-- KACZYŃSKI ALSO WARNED THAT PIS CANNOT COMPETE WITH BRAUN ON RADICALISM - FURTHER FROM KOLANKO IN RZ:

-- KACZYŃSKI 'SPOKE TO MORAWIECKI' ABOUT A MULTI-NURTURED PARTY - ACCORDING TO JACEK GĄDEK'S REPORT ON ONET: “Someone close to Morawiecki: - The 'buttermilkers' sat quietly because Kaczyński 'spoke to Morawiecki' about a multi-nurtured party and development. Someone from the 'buttermilker' faction's circle: - Morawiecki and his people were sidelined when the chairman said that the candidate for prime minister should be someone young.”

-- KACZYŃSKI, LIKE MORAWIECKI, SPOKE ABOUT A BIG TENT - FURTHER FROM GĄDEK: “Kaczyński argued that PiS must be a multi-nurtured formation, a big tent under which everyone will fit, a pro-development party. This is the narrative Morawiecki promotes in PiS. However, the chairman emphasized that, above all, those gathered under this 'big tent' should not fight amongst themselves.”

-- KACZYŃSKI AFTER TALKS WITH SOCIOLOGISTS - FURTHER FROM GĄDEK: “At a closed PKP meeting, Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński announced that he had talks with sociologists and political scientists cooperating with Nowogrodzka. He also analyzed research results. He himself raised the issue of PiS's future candidate for prime minister. In his opinion, the party should announce its candidate for prime minister this year – 2026 – with whom they will go to elections to be held in autumn 2027. According to Kaczyński, Poles expect a prime minister from a younger generation of politicians. In his opinion, PiS's candidate for head of government should be a politician under 50 years of age. Interestingly, the PiS chairman mentioned that he himself has a proposal for such a candidate in mind, but he did not reveal it.”

-- A POLITICIAN FROM NEW LEFT: - PERHAPS TUSK WANTED TO CLIP SOMEONE'S WINGS. WE WERE DOING TOO WELL IN RECENT MONTHS - IN KAMIL DZIUBKA'S ARTICLE ON ONET: “This story is no longer just about PIP. It's about whether the government can simultaneously meet EU requirements, maintain coalition cohesion, and avoid pitfalls in relations with entrepreneurs. However, the matter may also have a purely political context. In Włodzimierz Czarzasty's party, voices prevail that the prime minister also feared the coalition partner becoming too emboldened. A politician from New Left: - Perhaps Tusk wanted to clip someone's wings. We were doing too well in recent months.”

-- DESPITE THE PROJECT'S ACCEPTANCE BY THE SKRM, THE PROJECT COULD NOT GET ON THE GOVERNMENT'S AGENDA, AND THAT'S WHEN THE ROW BROKE OUT - FURTHER FROM DZIUBKA ON ONET: “Aga came to the ministry, among other things, to strengthen the State Labor Inspectorate. For years, everyone has been talking about limiting precarious employment and employers circumventing the law – our interlocutor from New Left tells us. And adds: – In November last year, so a few weeks ago, Tusk summoned her to a meeting. The head of the Permanent Committee of the Council of Ministers, Maciej Berek, and our Deputy Prime Minister Krzysiek Gawkowski also participated in the conversation. A compromise was reached. Despite the project's acceptance by the SKRM, the project could not get on the government's agenda, and as time was running out, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk sent an official letter to the prime minister in this matter. And that's when the row broke out.”

-- TUSK FURIOUSLY DEFENDS STATE HELPLESSNESS - BARTOSZ KOCEJKO-SZUKALSKI ON OKO.PRESS: “Fictitious self-employment will flourish as long as it brings such huge contribution and tax benefits – especially for high-income individuals. And the authorities fear touching these privileges even more than greater powers for the State Labor Inspectorate.”

-- PROTECTING TUSK'S CLEAN IMAGE – BECAUSE SINCE THE PRIME MINISTER GOT SO ANGRY, HE IS CERTAINLY NOT RESPONSIBLE HIMSELF, HE KNEW NOTHING - FURTHER FROM KOCEJKO-SZUKALSKI ON OKO.PRESS: “It is easy to notice that these displays of anger have a political function: to immediately shut down a topic that causes controversy. But also to protect Tusk's clean image – because since the prime minister got so angry, he is certainly not responsible himself, he knew nothing, someone else is to blame, etc. At the end of the year, news again thundered from the Chancellery of the Prime Minister: Tusk got furious.”

-- POLAND ON THE CHEAP – STILL KOCEJKO-SZUKALSKI ON OKO.PRESS: “Poland has a huge problem with employment outside the labor code. According to GUS, nearly 1.5 million people are employed solely on the basis of mandate contracts and similar agreements. This is detrimental to employees who lack job stability and the ability to exercise their rights, but the state also loses out: for example, pension contributions are not paid in full, which results in pensions being lower than the minimum pension – the state then has to deal with this problem.”

-- WHAT KIND OF CIVIL PARTNERSHIP ACT WOULD THE PRESIDENT BE WILLING TO SIGN? DECLARATIONS INDICATE ONE THAT WOULD NOT LEAD TO ABSOLUTELY ANY CONSEQUENCES - ZUZANNA DĄBROWSKA IN RZ: “What kind of civil partnership act would President Nawrocki be willing to sign? Declarations from his advisors and ministers indicate one that would not lead to absolutely any consequences for individuals entering into the agreement before a notary. And ideally, they would have to do it in sackcloth and ashes, weeping profusely.”

-- YOU WON'T STOP THIS ANYMORE. THAT'S WHY NAWROCKI HAS TO SCARE WITH ADOPTION - ANGELIKA PITOŃ ON OKO.PRESS: “Desperation. That's how I interpret the right-wing's impulses, which consider the negligible 'closest person' status bill to be a step towards same-sex couples adopting children. The bill does not even protect existing rainbow families. But Nawrocki is running out of reasons for a veto.”

-- CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS DO NOT OUTRAGE THE PIS ELECTORATE, AND POLLS SHOW THAT THE CONFEDERATION'S ELECTORATE, WHICH NAWROCKI SEEMS TO BE COURTING, SUPPORTS SUCH SOLUTIONS BY OVER 50 PERCENT - FURTHER FROM PITOŃ ON OKO.PRESS: “The question is, how far will the president go in humiliating people and for what benefits. He is unlikely to gain political capital from another veto. Civil partnerships do not outrage the PiS electorate, and polls also show that the Confederation's electorate, which Nawrocki seems to be courting, supports such solutions by over 50 percent. Or perhaps it's about a show and a politics of force? I veto because... I can?”
