— PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, DURING MY VISIT TO WASHINGTON AND MY CONVERSATION WITH HIM ON SEPTEMBER 10, FURTHER STRENGTHENED THE MESSAGE THAT POLAND CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON THE UNITED STATES – PRESIDENT KAROL NAWROCKI IN BILD: “First and foremost, Polish soldiers are ready to defend Poland. We are a nation that does not surrender in the fight for independence. We have a huge army in Poland and very strong alliances. We have Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which I believe would work in such a situation. We also have very strong bilateral relations with the United States. Yes, President Donald Trump, during my visit to Washington and my conversation with him on September 10, further strengthened the message that Poland can always count on the United States. Almost 10,000 American soldiers are stationed in Poland. We are a nation that does not want war or attacks, just like all countries of the free world. However, thanks to Polish soldiers, strong alliances, and relations with the USA, we are ready to defend our independence. But we still have many tasks ahead of us.”

— THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT MATTER FOR POLES. IT ALSO REQUIRES US TO BUILD FUTURE-ORIENTED FORMATS – THE PRESIDENT IN BILD ON REPARATIONS: “I think this is an issue that the present requires of us – to start a methodical, constructive, and concrete conversation between Poland and Germany within the framework of dialogue between partners in the European Union and NATO. This is a very important matter for Poles. It also requires us to build future-oriented formats. So, I think the issue of reparations is important for Poland, but also for Germany – to conclude this matter.”

— WE DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR GERMAN MIGRATION MISTAKES – THE PRESIDENT CONTINUES IN BILD: “Yes, this is something we have managed to avoid in Poland. Regarding migration policy – I read an excellent article by you and I like this thought, with which I completely agree – that Germany and, in general, Western countries have made many mistakes on this issue. We, Poles, fortunately, have not made these mistakes, so when it comes to migration policy, we want to avoid the mistakes our Western neighbours have made. We do not want to bear responsibility for them.”

— GERMANY AND OTHERS HAVE ENCOURAGED RUSSIA – DEUTSCHE WELLE DISCUSSES BILD'S CONVERSATION WITH PRESIDENT NAWROCKI: “As 'Bild' writes, the Polish President does not spare harsh words, even towards allies. 'Some Western countries, including Germany, conducted business with the Russian Federation, thus financially and economically encouraging it to attack Ukraine,' we read. Nawrocki also supports Donald Trump's appeal to stop buying Russian oil. 'All countries that desire peace and freedom should stop subsidizing the Russian Federation,' stated Nawrocki. Doing business with Russia would only embolden Moscow: 'And then what happened in Ukraine could happen,' adds the Polish president.”

— THE REACTION TO RUSSIAN ATTACKS SHOULD NOT BE MERELY DEFENSIVE – TOMASZ SZATKOWSKI, FORMER AMBASSADOR OF THE RP TO NATO IN A CONVERSATION WITH MAREK KOZUBAL IN RZ: “There must be something else that shows Russia that it will bear certain risks or costs associated with such a situation. It is worth recalling the example of one of the alliance states, which a few years ago was subjected to pressure, including the fact that one of the Russian ballistic missiles fell into the territorial waters of that state. This resulted in American strategic bombers appearing nearby, which began flying very aggressively in the vicinity of Russia. The Russians connected the dots, and the effect was a calming of their actions.”

— FOR A YEAR AND A HALF, THE MON DID NOTHING WITH ANTI-DRONE SYSTEMS – SZATKOWSKI CONTINUES WITH KOZUBAL IN RZ: “There is a range of actions that we are taking. The key is to strengthen our air defense, i.e., to accelerate programs that were unfortunately on hold recently. I am thinking about the purchase of anti-drone systems. Things have now accelerated, but for a year and a half, the Ministry of National Defence did nothing in this regard, and now everything is supposed to be done immediately.”

— THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE IS READY TO CONDUCT COMPLETELY NON-PARTISAN POLICY. RELATIONS WITH THE PALACE ALLOW THE GOVERNMENT TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE – IWONA SZPALA IN GW: “– The relations between the Ministry of National Defence and the Presidential National Security Bureau are very good, and communication between the Prime Minister and the President is similar. This is perhaps the first important moment in the relations between PiS and Nawrocki, which shows Kaczyński that the Presidential Palace is ready to conduct completely non-partisan policy. Relations with the Palace allow the government to be more effective – we hear.”

— SZPALA QUOTES SZEFERNAKER'S POST AND TUSK'S WORDS: “From some coalition politicians, one can hear that Szefernaker's extensive post was created at the inspiration of the President's PiS background. However, the Prime Minister himself did not refrain from criticism. Since Wednesday, he has been urging to put aside disputes, as the behaviour of the Polish political class is closely watched by other countries. On Saturday, he announced on the X platform that a discussion is underway in PiS and Konfederacja as to whether the drones are a provocation by Ukraine, the Polish government, or a mistake. And all this despite the communiqués from Polish services, the military, the President, and the Prime Minister.”

— TUSK HAS MOVED TO ANTI-GERMAN POSITIONS – MICHAŁ KOKOT IN GW: “But according to our information, there is no turning back from this path. One person close to the Prime Minister tells 'Wyborcza' that Tusk believes he has a feel for public sentiment, and the pendulum has swung to the right. And that there is no point in fighting it. Tusk believed in his intuition. He believes the world has changed. That's why he has moved to anti-German, anti-immigrant positions – says my interlocutor.”

— IN BERLIN, THEY SAY THE ATMOSPHERE HAS COOLED – KOKOT CONTINUES IN GW: “Now it turns out that after the CDU and Merz won the elections, the matter has not moved forward at all. – Formally, we are still cooperating with Warsaw, but the atmosphere has cooled. Now it looks like we've gone back to 2015 – I hear in Berlin.”

— A PLATFORM RETURNING TO ITS ROOTS COULD CO-GOVERN WITH KONFEDERACJA – KOKOT CONTINUES IN GW: “According to my interlocutor, the swing to the right is also intended to enable a potential coalition with Konfederacja in the future. Or at least with part of it, in case of 'further degradation of Hołownia's party' and friction with Lewica. It concerns the more moderate part of Konfederacja, which does not want cooperation with PiS, but would accept a coalition with Platforma, returning to its roots. It would be a liberal economic coalition – says one of my interlocutors.”
