POLITICAL GAME: Majmurek: Nobody has worn out like Hołownia, Michalski: Cultural war lobbyists are chasing PSL out of the coalition, Wielowieyska: Tusk tells coalition partners there's no money

-- 35 YEARS AGO, THE SEJM ELECTED TADEUSZ MAZOWIECKI AS PRIME MINISTER. Following General Kiszczak's resignation from the post of Prime Minister in August 1989, Wałęsa proposed Mazowiecki's candidacy for the new head of government. The Sejm appointed him on August 24, 1989. "I can be a good or bad prime minister, but I will not agree to be a puppet prime minister," Mazowiecki said on the eve of his appointment as Chairman of the Council of Ministers. -- TUSK IS KEEN FOR THE BUDGET TO PASS SMOOTHLY THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT AND THE SEJM, AND ON OCTOBER 15, HE IS PLANNING A MAJOR EVENT WITH ALL LEADERS, DURING WHICH THE RULING COALITION WILL DEMONSTRATE COHESION AND THE ABILITY TO COMPROMISE, AND PRESENT PLANS FOR THE NEXT YEAR - DOMINIKA WIELOWIEYSKA IN GW. -- TUSK REPEATEDLY SAID THERE WAS NO MONEY - RECALLED ONE OF OUR INTERLOCUTORS - WIELOWIEYSKA CONTINUED: “According to the information obtained by 'Wyborcza', politicians agreed that each grouping would present its priorities regarding the budget law. However, this must take into account the fact that Poland has been placed under the excessive deficit procedure. - Tusk repeatedly said there was no money - recalled one of our interlocutors”. -- HOŁOWNIA IS CONSIDERING WHETHER TUSK'S OFFER IS BETTER - WIELOWIEYSKA CONTINUED: “The presidential elections are scheduled to take place in mid-next year. Hołownia is reportedly weighing the 'pros' and 'cons'. He fears that his result in the presidential elections could be very weak, which would undermine his position, and on top of that, he would lose the Marshal's staff. Therefore, he is considering whether Tusk's offer isn't better and whether running in the presidential race isn't too risky for him”. https://wyborcza.pl/7,75398,31250142,tusk-z-koalicjantami-szykuja-sie-na-rocznice-wyborow-musimy.html -- WILL FORMER MINISTERS RETURN FROM THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT TO THE GOVERNMENT? A MAJOR GOVERNMENT RECONSTRUCTION IS MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR NOT IN SEPTEMBER, BUT ONLY AFTER THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS - ACCORDING TO OUR INFORMATION - PIOTR ŚMIŁOWICZ IN GAZETA.PL: “In this context, names like Marcin Kierwiński and Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz are being heard within Civic Platform (PO). It is also not ruled out that MEPs who have not yet served in the government could join it, for example, leading Civic Coalition 'investigators' Michał Szczerba and Dariusz Joński. However, the matter is not yet settled”. -- KIERWIŃSKI WILL REMAIN SECRETARY - ŚMIŁOWICZ CONTINUED: “According to our information, a decision has been made that Kierwiński will remain in his position”. https://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/7,114884,31250027,byli-ministrowie-wroca-z-europarlamentu-do-rzadu-znamy-termin.html -- THE SUCCESSOR TO JAROSŁAW KACZYŃSKI CAN ONLY BE JAROSŁAW KACZYŃSKI - ARTUR BARTKIEWICZ IN RZ: “In reality, however, the succession within PiS is like the succession in Waystar Royco, a fictional company from the excellent HBO series. There too, there were many contenders to take over power from the patriarch, Logan Roy, but he only saw himself as his successor. And this is the case with PiS – the successor to Jarosław Kaczyński can only be Jarosław Kaczyński”. -- THE PARTY TODAY SEEMS UNABLE TO EXIST IN ITS CURRENT FORMULA WITHOUT HIM - BARTKIEWICZ CONTINUED IN RZ: “So, Kaczyński is largely right in thinking of himself in terms of an irreplaceable leader, but at the same time, he is PiS's biggest problem, because the party today seems incapable of existing in its current formula without him”. -- CYRANKIEWICZ REPLIED: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I'M NOT CHANGING?" - BARTKIEWICZ'S CONCLUSION: “In the times of the Polish People's Republic, when Prime Minister Józef Cyrankiewicz, who headed the government from 1947-1952 and 1954-1970, was asked by a journalist why the prime minister in Poland doesn't change, he replied: 'What do you mean? I'm not changing?'. In the context of changing the leader of PiS, such changes are currently all that is possible”. https://www.rp.pl/komentarze/art41015831-artur-bartkiewicz-mariusz-blaszczak-przeciez-wiadomo-kto-bedzie-nastepca-kaczynskiego -- NO POLITICIAN FROM THE RULING MAJORITY HAS WORN OUT AS MUCH AS HOŁOWNIA - JAKUB MAJMUREK IN NEWSWEEK: “The problem is that the electorate 'borrowed' for the 2023 elections from other parties was no longer available to the Third Way in local and European elections, and will not be available in the presidential elections. The fact that Poland 2050 has failed to find a new direction for itself in the first season of the October 15 coalition government, as a party within the ruling camp, is undoubtedly Hołownia's biggest failure as the leader of this formation”. -- WILL POLSKA 2050 END IN 2025? - MAJMUREK CONTINUED: “Hołownia doesn't have much time to find a new political concept for himself and his movement. Because the pre-campaign for the 2025 presidential elections will soon begin, which for Polska 2050 and its leader could mark the beginning of the end”. https://www.newsweek.pl/polska/polityka/upadek-gwiazdy-nikt-z-politykow-wiekszosci-nie-zuzyl-sie-tak-jak-holownia/qhfw35k -- BOSAK SURPRISED EVERYONE NOT ONLY WITH THE DECISION ITSELF, BUT ALSO WITH THE FACT THAT HE WANTED NOTHING IN RETURN - KAMILA BARANOWSKA IN INTERIA: “Relations between the leaders of Konfederacja have been tense recently. There is even talk in the party that Krzysztof Bosak's decision to withdraw from the presidential race might have saved Konfederacja from a split - according to Interia's information. Bosak surprised everyone not only with the decision itself but also with the fact that he wanted nothing in return. (...) People from Nowa Nadzieja were therefore surprised that, as they put it, Krzysztof Bosak "rose above purely transactional politics" and showed that he cared more about the good and unity of the formation than his individual interests. - Sławek now owes him gratitude and knows he will have to repay it someday - one politician supporting Mentzen tells us”. https://wydarzenia.interia.pl/wybory/prezydenckie/news-konfederacja-byla-o-wlos-od-rozlamu-kulisy-decyzji-krzysztof,nId,7761928 -- CULTURAL WAR LOBBYISTS ARE CHASING PSL OUT OF THE COALITION - CEZARY MICHALSKI IN INTERIA: “The process of chasing the peasant party (PSL) out of the coalition is ongoing. The urban progressives doing the chasing have no idea about rural Poland. Are they to propose Jacek Dehnel and Maja Heban to them? Magdalena Środa and Michał Rusinek? A culture war conducted by the left? This is a guaranteed mobilization of rural Poland on the side of the extreme cultural and political right. Even if Tusk manages to weaken the PiS politicians through 'settling accounts,' Konfederacja will replace them in the countryside, not the Together party”. -- EVEN IF CHASING THEM OUT OF TUSK'S GOVERNMENT MEANS THE FORMATION OF A PIŚ GOVERNMENT WITH KONFEDERACJA - MICHALSKI CONTINUED IN INTERIA: “The patriotic upbringing project presented on August 15 by Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz does not need adulation, it needs discussion. However, it was overshadowed by hate. And by the shared hate from the right (which punishes the PSL for being in coalition with Tusk) and the left wing of the October 15 Coalition (especially its media backup), which would like to chase the PSL out of Tusk's government. Even if chasing them out of Tusk's government means the formation of a PiS government with Konfederacja”. https://wydarzenia.interia.pl/felietony/news-lobbysci-kulturowej-wojny-przeganiaja-psl-z-koalicji,nId,7763112 -- BIRTHDAYS: Jerzy Polaczek, Igor Tuleya.
