POLITICAL GAME: Trzaskowski Doubts PiS Can Find A Candidate Unconnected to Previous Governments; Szubartowicz: Instead of Seeking Consensus Within the Coalition, the PSL Seeks it with the Opposition
-- MASTALEREK: A RIGHT-WING CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE TO WIN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION FOR INTERNAL PROCESSES TO OCCUR WITHIN THE PSL - 300LIVE: https://300polityka.pl/live/2024/07/22/
-- I DO NOT RULE OUT THAT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF SOME EXTERNAL CIRCUMSTANCES, CIVIC COALITION, OR PERHAPS EVEN THE GOVERNMENT COALITION, WILL DECIDE TO ANNOUNCE A JOINT CANDIDATE SLIGHTLY LATER - RAFAŁ TRZASKOWSKI IN CONVERSATION WITH ARKADIUSZ GRUSZCZYŃSKI IN GW: “The elections are scheduled for May, so it would be good to start the debate about the challenges of the presidency in the coming decade a few months earlier. Although I do not rule out that under the influence of some external circumstances, Civic Coalition, or perhaps even the government coalition, will decide to announce a joint candidate slightly later.”
-- I HAVE NEVER SHIED AWAY FROM ANY SERIOUS CHALLENGE. BUT I WILL REPEAT IT ONCE MORE: LET'S NOT GET AHEAD OF OURSELVES - TRZASKOWSKI CONTINUES IN GW: “I can only remind you that I have never shied away from any serious challenge. But I will repeat it once more: let's not get ahead of the party's decision, which together with its coalition partners will make a decision in the coming months.”
-- IF OUR CANDIDATE WINS, WE WILL BE ABLE TO SPEAK OF THE DEFINITIVE END OF THE LAW AND JUSTICE ERA - TRZASKOWSKI TELLS GRUSZCZYŃSKI: “The presidential elections will be the final stage, the culmination of the process of democratizing the state anew. If our candidate wins, we will be able to speak of the definitive end of the Law and Justice era. The October 15th coalition will also receive a clear signal from society that the cleanup after the PiS governments, and the goals set in domestic and international policy, enjoy public support. A president cooperating with the current government – critically and responsibly, of course – is simply essential.”
-- I DO NOT THINK THE GOVERNMENT'S RATINGS WILL DROP DRASTICALLY, BECAUSE QUITE A LOT HAS BEEN DONE IN THESE FEW MONTHS - TRZASKOWSKI CONTINUES: “I do not think the government's ratings will drop drastically, because in these few months quite a lot has been done: public media are pluralistic, state-owned companies are not staffed by party nominees, we have regained our position on the international stage, we have maintained all social programs of our predecessors, and in the autumn, we will introduce 'babciowe' (grandma's benefit).”
-- THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE: OUR CANDIDATE FOR THIS OFFICE WILL BE 100% INDEPENDENT. THIS IS HOW THEY WILL MOST RADICALLY DIFFER FROM ANDRZEJ DUDA - TRZASKOWSKI TELLS GRUSZCZYŃSKI: “The most important issue: our candidate for this office will be 100% independent. This is how they will most radically differ from Andrzej Duda. The president will have the opportunity to effectively convince parliament of their views – on issues as important as women's rights, for example. The new president, unlike Andrzej Duda, will have their own opinion but will be ready to cooperate with the Sejm, but the Sejm will also have to take the president and their position seriously – to the benefit of both institutions.”
-- I DOUBT WHETHER NOWOGRODZKA (PiS HQ) WILL MANAGE TO FIND A POLITICIAN WHO WAS NOT IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH THE PiS GOVERNMENTS - TRZASKOWSKI TELLS GW: “I also doubt whether Nowogrodzka will manage to find a politician who was not in any way connected with the PiS governments. Someone who did not take responsibility for everything that happened over eight years. Someone who was completely unconnected with the party. Nor does it seem to me that Jarosław Kaczyński would be willing to entrust this task to someone completely from the outside, because any independence could threaten his authoritarian rule over the Polish right.”

-- I AM STILL CONVINCING MINISTER BODNAR AND PROSECUTOR KORNELUK - ROMAN GIERTYCH IN CONVERSATION WITH DANIEL DROB IN GAZETA.PL: “You know, I would also like settlements to proceed faster. I proposed establishing a special department in the prosecutor's office to handle all investigations and for the prosecution to work in two shifts. I am still convincing Minister Bodnar and Prosecutor Korneluk to do this.”
-- I DISAGREE, I AM A FAN OF THE MINISTER. I AM SERIOUS. I OPPOSE THESE VOICES THAT CLAIM I AM BITING HIM, ATTACKING HIM - GIERTYCH CONTINUES WITH DROB: “I disagree, I am a fan of the minister. I am serious. I oppose these voices that claim I am biting him, attacking him. I certainly have my temperament, which is why I probably express myself too expressively at times, but I am convinced that Adam Bodnar is doing everything he can under the current circumstances. I'll say more – he will go down in history for the settlements and cleanup after PiS. But it must take time if it is to be effective: proceedings, transferring proceedings to charges, gradual replacement of the prosecution staff. This cannot be done in a month.”
-- HE HAS A DIFFERENT CHARACTER THAN ME. HE IS A MACE AGAINST PiS, BUT WRAPPED IN SPONGE - GIERTYCH ON BODNAR.
-- THERE'S NO POINT PRETENDING THAT PiS IS A NORMAL PARTY, IT SHOULD BE DELEGALIZED - GIERTYCH CONTINUES IN GAZETA.PL: “Of course, PiS should be delegalized! And for several reasons. It is a group that committed a constitutional assault. If someone, like PiS, takes control of the National Council of the Judiciary, the Constitutional Tribunal, or the Supreme Court, they commit a coup d'état. There's no point pretending that PiS is a normal party, it should be delegalized.”
-- I AM A BELIEVING PERSON, BUT I DO NOT THINK EVERYTHING HAS TO BE CRIMINALLY PENALIZED. I BELIEVE THAT COMPROMISE SOLUTIONS ARE POSSIBLE THAT THE LEFT, BUT ALSO CONSERVATIVES IN THE SEJM, LIKE MYSELF, WOULD ACCEPT WITH PAIN - GIERTYCH TELLS DROB: “Towards a compromise that we will agree on and that will not change until the end of the term. If not, this issue will sooner or later blow up the coalition. There's no joking here. We have to find a compromise. I am a believing person, but I do not think everything has to be criminally penalized. In short, not every bad thing someone does must be reflected in the criminal code. I believe that compromise solutions are possible that the Left, but also conservatives in the Sejm, like myself, would accept with pain.”
-- IF WE KEEP PUSHING THE PSL, WE WILL EVENTUALLY PUSH THEM OUT - GIERTYCH CONTINUES WITH DROB IN GAZETA.PL: “A huge amount of hate has been directed at the PSL, especially at Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz. Firstly, it is unjustified. They have never hidden their convictions. Secondly, it only brings the PSL members closer to the other side. If we keep pushing the PSL, we will eventually push them out. Recently, Przemysław Wipler has already tempted them with a joint government with Konfederacja and PiS. He presented such a scenario precisely now for a reason. That side sees how the PSL members are being attacked and is waiting for the opportunity to perhaps win them over.”

-- KOSINIAK-KAMYSZ SENDS TUSK AND THE LEFT A WARNING: BY GOING LEFT, THE GOVERNMENT WILL ALIENATE CONSERVATIVE VOTERS AND BRING ABOUT THE RETURN OF PiS TO POWER - MICHAŁ SZUŁDRZYŃSKI IN RZ: “Allow me to act, allow me to show that conservatives can also have representation in this government, and we will create a stable government that can rule Poland for years. Further ignoring the PSL will lead to power returning to Kaczyński's hands.” And it's hard to disagree with such a message from Kosiniak-Kamysz.”

-- INSTEAD OF SEEKING CONSENSUS WITHIN THE COALITION - THE PSL SEEKS CONSENSUS WITH THE OPPOSITION - PRZEMYSŁAW SZUBARTOWICZ IN INTERIA: “From a political point of view, the PSL is simply preparing for a parting with Szymon Hołownia, but at the same time is convincing voters that only power now binds the governing coalition. Kosiniak-Kamysz also wants to sell the public a story that the agrarian party should be the true centrists today. The problem is that the bills they propose are not a nod to the center, but to rural conservatism, the right, Andrzej Duda, and PiS, from whom the PSL would like to take voters, but only offers them solutions ready for support. Instead of seeking consensus within the coalition – it seeks consensus with the opposition.”
-- DONALD TUSK HAS ALSO MOVED AWAY FROM THE CENTER, ALBEIT IN THE OTHER DIRECTION - SZUBARTOWSKI CONTINUES IN INTERIA: “Similarly, Donald Tusk has moved away from the center, albeit in the other direction. If the PSL leader returned from leaning to the right, and the PO leader gave up on a too sharp turn to the left, together they could build a truly centrist political formation.”

-- J.D. VANCE’S ORIGINS CONSTITUTE AN ARMOR THAT THE PAPER ARROWS OF THE PRIESTS AND ACOLYTES OF THE WOKE MOVEMENT, WHO QUESTION FUNDAMENTAL AMERICAN VALUES UNDER THE GUISE OF STRIVING FOR THE PROPER TREATMENT OF MINORITIES, CANNOT PENETRATE - PROF. ZBIGNIEW LEWICKI IN RZ: “His nomination by Trump is a decision that can be described, without exaggeration, as a manifestation of political genius. His origins constitute an armor that the paper arrows of the priests and acolytes of the woke movement, who question fundamental American values under the guise of striving for the proper treatment of minorities, cannot penetrate. Many Americans and Europeans know Vance as the author of the book ‘Hillbilly Elegy,’ a painfully honest portrait of the American ‘rabble,’ as Hillary Clinton politely called them.”
-- POLAND WILL REMAIN OUTSIDE THE MAINSTREAM, THE RULERS WILL NOT ABANDON THE FUTILE FORMULA OF ARROGANTLY CRITICIZING TRUMP AND VANCE, ACCOMPANIED BY CHEERING FOR THE LOSING DEMOCRATIC CAMP AFTER JOE BIDEN'S RESIGNATION - LEWICKI CONTINUES IN RZ: “And it is only a pity that at this historic moment, Poland will remain outside the mainstream of events. For the rulers will not abandon the futile formula of arrogantly criticizing Trump and Vance, which will be accompanied by cheering for the losing democratic camp after Joe Biden's resignation. The losses will be compounded by the withdrawal of the experienced ambassador Marek Magierowski and his replacement with a diplomatic novice, Bogdan Klich, who has only limited contacts within the Democratic Party. And in a few years, we will wonder, 'Who lost the United States.'”
