-- WILL THE LATEST IPSOS POLL FOR OKO, THE LAST BEFORE THE FIRST ROUND, BRING A BREAKTHROUGH? - Michał Danielewski from Oko seems to suggest on Twitter: The Ipsos poll for @oko_press is finished. Quick comment: wow, wow, wow. Publication of the first text in the afternoon, the second - on the influence of Duda's visit to Trump - in the evening. Detailed analysis of the second round and voter flows tomorrow.

-- PRIME MINISTER: WOULD POLAND OF 5 YEARS AGO HAVE HANDLED THE CRISIS? - in an interview with Piotr Mieśnik and Marcin Makowski for WP: “If there is a second round, I think everyone who votes for a candidate other than the current president will have two weeks to consider how much has been done over the past 5 years in family, social, economic, and international policy, including relations with the United States. Let everyone ask themselves a few simple questions: do I live better today, and is Poland a safer country today? Would Poland of 5 years ago have coped better with the challenge of the pandemic and its economic consequences? Would it have been possible to repair the public finance system, to seal the tax system, which is the root cause of our economic successes and social programs?”
-- IT IS SYMBOLIC THAT UNDER THE PLATFORM GOVERNMENT, OBAMA WITHDREW FROM THE SHIELD AND ANNOUNCED IT ON SEPTEMBER 17 - THE PRIME MINISTER CONTINUES: “It is characteristic that since 2015, every year we say that Polish-American relations have never been better. And indeed, these relations with the most powerful superpower in the world, during Andrzej Duda's presidency, have been clearly improving year by year. This is not necessarily a rule. It is quite symbolic that during the Civic Platform government, not only did President Obama withdraw from the anti-missile shield project, but he also did so on September 17, the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union's invasion of Poland.”
-- THE LANGUAGE OF CONTEMPT WAS CONSTRUCTED BY TUSK AND HIS MARKETERS - THE PRIME MINISTER CONTINUES: “When we talk about language, the entire language of contempt was constructed by Donald Tusk and his political marketing advisors. I have been observing this for 15 years, as it started then. I believe there is no symmetry here. Grzegorz Schetyna, if I remember correctly, spoke of the 'locusts from PiS,' Mr. Sikorski called us a 'pack of wolves,' a certain opposition professor, lamenting another defeat for the Platform, said that 'hicks defeated the elites.' Besides, I don't want to elaborate, there are plenty of terrible examples of such statements.”
-- THE PRIME MINISTER ON THE EFFECT OF 100 BILLION FROM THE SHIELD: “I know that our opponents find it hard to believe that Poland is coping with such a difficult crisis better than many other countries, including Western countries. Bloomberg agency says we are navigating the crisis in the best possible way. ING analysts show that our lifeline thrown to employees and entrepreneurs is the largest in Europe. The European Commission adds that we will have the shallowest recession in the European Union. This is the resilience of Polish companies, but also the effect of these 100 billion immediately transferred to entrepreneurs. If we hadn't done this, and only waited for the European Recovery Fund, which might start operating in winter or spring next year, it would be – to use youth slang – game over.”
-- MORAL PREFERENCES SHOULD REMAIN IN THE REALM OF PRIVACY - THE PRIME MINISTER CONTINUES: “There is full tolerance in Poland for different orientations, including sexual orientation – all Polish citizens have the same rights and deserve equal respect. Besides, look at the very fact that one of the leading presidential candidates today is a person of homosexual orientation, who does not hide it, which proves that there are no problems with tolerance in Poland. At the same time, there are certain boundaries concerning the upbringing of children, on which parents or married couples, who have their constitutional definition, should have the greatest influence. I believe that moral preferences should not be associated with privileges. Each of us should build our good name and social value based on who we are as a person – an employee, a neighbor, a family member, a social activist. Let moral preferences remain in the realm of our privacy.”
-- THE LEVEL OF DISTORTION OF REALITY ON TVN EXCEEDS ALL BOUNDARIES - THE PRIME MINISTER CONTINUES: “I try to measure different viewpoints, and the media power on the opposition's side far exceeds what we can influence as the ruling side. The media market must also be viewed from the perspective of real pluralism, as it is one of the most important values of democracy. I wish for more objectivity on many television channels, newspapers, internet channels, and radio stations. For instance, the level of distortion of reality on TVN truly exceeds all boundaries.”
-- A CERTAIN MALICE OF THE PRIME MINISTER TOWARDS TVP: “One must look at how parity is distributed in the media. I believe that TVP must also present the views of Poles who have been completely marginalized until now. Liberal-left media, especially TVN, have their specific profile, they are one hundred percent anti-government. This is unfair and extremely biased, while TVP tries to show reality from a different perspective.
WP: More pro-government?
PMM: I don't think so, and I have many examples of this.
WP: Such as?
PMM: I'll keep that in petto (in my heart - ed.).”
-- THE PRESIDENT'S LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE IN HIS SECOND TERM IS MAXIMUM - SAYS THE PRIME MINISTER: “I just want to emphasize a rule that applies to the second term. The level of political independence in the office of the president during the second term is maximum. Meanwhile, the election of an opposition candidate is a recipe for political chaos and the further strategy of total opposition.”

-- HOŁOWNIA REPRESENTS THE CHRISTIANITY OF TISCHNER AND JOHN PAUL II, KOSINIAK WILL BE REMEMBERED AS A VALUABLE POLITICIAN WITH A GREAT FUTURE, BIEDROŃ MODERNIZED THE LEFT - ADAM MICHNIK PRAISES OPPOSITION CANDIDATES - in an interview with Dorota Wysocka-Schnepff for GW: “This election campaign had two faces. One is the face of Poland that wants to be a normal, democratic, independent, civilized country. And this is not just Rafał Trzaskowski. It is also Szymon Hołownia, who speaks the language of modern, tolerant democracy and who represents Christianity open to the world and an open Church, known for many years from the pages of 'Tygodnik Powszechny,' 'Znak,' or 'Więź.' This is the Church of John Paul II, Father Tischner, Father Ludwik Wiśniewski, and many other wonderful Christians. Regarding Kosiniak-Kamysz's candidacy, it is at a very high level, his campaign was conducted with competence, culture, and class. Regardless of the result Mr. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz achieves, it is undeniable that he will go down in history and be remembered as a valuable politician of democratic Poland, who has a very interesting future ahead of him. Finally, the Left candidate Robert Biedroń, who also played a very useful role in Polish politics through his presence. He modernized it, familiarized it with new phenomena, and here again, regardless of the result and Mr. Biedroń's future in the left-wing formation, he has already made a very positive mark on Polish politics today?”
-- DUD'S COMPLETE LACK OF SCRUPLES REMINDED ME OF THE LANGUAGE OF VILE STALINIST AND FASCIST PROPAGANDA - MICHNIK CONTINUES: “What is the sad face of this campaign is the complete lack of scruples, lack of culture, reason, honesty, and reliability on the part of Andrzej Duda's supporters, as well as the president himself, who, unfortunately, often shouted rather than spoke. And I didn't know if he was shouting to me or at me. And what he said, that the opposition is worse than the coronavirus, is simply worthy of the 'Guinness Book of Records.' It's so unserious, so stupid, that it almost stops being dangerous. If it weren't for the fact that there are indeed fanatical people who might follow it. And what he said about LGBT reminds me, unfortunately, of the worst times – the language of vile Stalinist propaganda and vile fascist propaganda.”
-- THE GOEBBELS MECHANISM OR SMOTHERING TO DEATH, IS TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING? - MICHNIK CONTINUES: “Two mechanisms are at play here – one is the mechanism we know from Goebbels, which is called: throw mud, throw mud, and some of it will stick. And on the other hand, there is the saying that even a cat can be smothered to death, meaning that too much is unhealthy. And this is being done so crudely, so vilely, and at the same time it evokes such opposition both in Poland and abroad, that one can have cautious hope that it will be like a boomerang – you throw it, the boomerang returns and hits you in the face. And those treacherous faces, of which Jarosław Kaczyński spoke, Jarosław Kaczyński will suddenly see them when he looks in the mirror himself.”
-- THERE IS NO REASON TO OPEN THE CHAMPAGNE EARLY, THERE IS NO REASON TO GO TO SLEEP - MICHNIK CONTINUES: “Nevertheless, I got the impression yesterday, especially since here in Poland, in the democratic camp, they are already almost opening champagne, that it is already won, because one poll about the second round showed a slight lead for Rafał Trzaskowski. Firstly, there is no reason to open the champagne yet. Duda still has a 10-point lead, and that's not insignificant. Therefore, he cannot be underestimated for a moment, nothing is decided. Andrzej Duda can win these elections. Especially if his opponent makes mistakes, like with the vote on pensions. It was a slip-up, Rafał Trzaskowski's memory failed him, it wasn't intentional lying, but one must be very careful and cautious in a campaign. Secondly, it is always possible that something will happen that will cause some supporters of Szymon Hołownia or Kosiniak-Kamysz not to vote for Trzaskowski. There is absolutely no reason to be complacent. No! The next two and a half weeks must be a time of great activity and increased effort. It seems to me that the matter is not decided. But of course, for many people it turned out that PiS doesn't have victory in their pocket.”

-- TRZASKOWSKI HAS ALREADY BURNED HIS BONUS FOR A LATE START - MICHAŁ KARNOWSKI: “It is clearly visible that Rafał Trzaskowski has already burned his bonus for a late entry into the game. He is clearly tired, often reacts aggressively, and has still not crossed the 30 percent threshold in polls – which is simply drowned out by numerous propagandists of the Third Republic camp, but it must frustrate Trzaskowski's campaign managers. He performed poorly in the debate.”
-- THE THIRD REPUBLIC CAMP IS ACTIVATING VIOLENT RESOURCES - KARNOWSKI CONTINUES: “However, the course of the campaign causes the Third Republic system to reach for its last reserves, activating violent resources. Such as the twisted court verdict in the dispute over the statement about a supposed million new unemployed on the labor market as a result of the epidemic. In reality, this million is precisely absent, thanks to the actions of the president and the government.”
-- ALL MAJOR TITLES EXCEPT "SIECI" EXPRESSED DISLIKE FOR DUDA - KARNOWSKI CONTINUES: “The aggression and use of lies in the press is also intensifying. On Monday, with the exception of the weekly 'Sieci,' all major titles published that day expressed dislike for Duda in one way or another, attacking him from various sides. False information and provocations are multiplying, such as the large article in one of the dailies about an alleged reprimand given by Ambassador Mosbacher for raising the topic of the aggression of LGBT ideology in the campaign. Zero evidence and a clear denial from both sides did nothing to improve the self-esteem of journalists who so often lecture about standards.”

-- EITHER ATTACK CLEARLY AND SPECIFICALLY, OR IGNORE; DUDA'S STAFF HAS TROUBLE GRASPING THE ESSENCE OF THE DISPUTE - JACEK KARNOWSKI: “Andrzej Duda's campaign team has trouble grasping the essence of the dispute. One must decide: either attack Trzaskowski clearly and specifically, or ignore the rival.”
-- PROVOCATIONS ON TOO MANY FRONTS CREATE THE IMPRESSION OF TUGGING AT THE TROUSERS AND BUILD UP TRZASKOWSKI - KARNOWSKI CONTINUES: “Provocations on too many fronts are counterproductive, they create the impression of tugging at the trousers, and in a way, they even build up the candidate. This matter should be reconsidered. Today, the ruling camp releases such a multitude of messages every day that they exceed society's perceptual capabilities. And they either cancel each other out or get lost in the general noise. And it must be clear: what is this referendum about? Because this is a referendum. The signals must be strong, yet also precise: we are talking about 30 million voters, not about 10 million who, at their best moments, are within the reach of news programs or websites dealing with politics.”
-- TRZASKOWSKI MUST PRETEND TO BE SOMEONE ELSE - JACEK KARNOWSKI CONTINUES: “Overall, Trzaskowski's campaign is a strong compliment to the camp of the 'Good Change.' The KO candidate – to dream of victory – must pretend to be someone else. He must erase his biography, he must also keep his real program secret, and even adopt important elements of his rival's program. If he wins, it will be thanks to a trick that is essentially a deception. The Third Republic has reached the point where, even after five years in opposition, it is afraid to be itself. And this means that it has really gotten under people's skin.”
-- A FLAT CAMPAIGN, COMMERCIALS, AND LAWSUITS DO NOT ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE - KARNOWSKI CONTINUES: “On the one hand, record-high turnout declarations, indicating enormous societal politicization. On the other, a rather flat campaign, already without particularly dramatic turns after the change of the KO candidate. Campaign teams get excited about lawsuits and commercials, but the impact of such actions on the wider audience seems minimal.”

-- I THOUGHT TRZASKOWSKI MIGHT WIN ON JULY 12 - ŁUKASZ WARZECHA IN RZ: “Perhaps from now on, every PO frontman must be obligated to memorize a catalog of basic food product prices? I don't know. What I do know is that when I heard Trzaskowski respond with ease to a question that was supposed to corner him, for the first time, I seriously thought that he might ultimately win on July 12. If that were to happen, it would have to be acknowledged that not only Trzaskowski himself, his party, or his staff worked for it, but also his opponents. On the day the Civic Coalition candidate posts a decent commercial online, showing himself as one of the guys (with worn-out shoes and driving a nine-year-old pre-ecological Volvo), the president's staff presents an aggressive clip intended to portray the KO candidate as lazy and hypocritical. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture (sic!) posts the rally hashtag #Rafał-niekłam (Rafał-don't-lie) on Twitter, as if he were just any internet troll.”
-- DUDA'S FACTION IS A STEP AWAY FROM OVERHEATING THE CONDEMNATION OF THE OPPONENT - WARZECHA CONTINUES: “As in everything, one can also overheat in condemning a political opponent, achieving the opposite effect to the intended one. Perhaps Andrzej Duda's faction is a step away from that moment. After all, the constant, already grotesque attack on Trzaskowski validates him in the eyes of all those who want to remove PiS from power, or at least balance it by electing a president from a different camp, but are hesitating whether it is worth supporting the KO candidate in the second round and whether it is better to stay home. But since Trzaskowski is being attacked so ruthlessly, so demonized, since the authorities hate him so much – maybe he should be given a chance? – they start to think. For several years, Platforma was rightly criticized for demanding that Poles start supporting it simply because it is not Law and Justice. Today, it looks as if Andrzej Duda wants support simply because he is not Rafał Trzaskowski. That's not enough.”

-- TRUMP MAY PLAY A TRICK ON DUDA - MICHAŁ SZUŁDRZYŃSKI IN RZ: “Another problem is the unpredictability of the American president. Duda must reckon with the fact that whether during a joint statement after the meeting, or in a later statement, Trump may play a trick on him. For example, by referring to Duda's anti-LGBT crusade, which from the perspective of American policy and the values espoused there (including on the right) is scandalous. Trump's close associate and a US ambassador to Poland sympathetic to the current government had rainbow flags hung on American diplomatic buildings on Sunday, the day when the Equality Parade, canceled due to the pandemic, was supposed to take place in Warsaw. Will the right-wing voters, fed on dislike for 'LGBT ideology' and stories of Polish might, understand these contradictory messages?”
-- MORE UNKNOWNS AND RISKS THAN CERTAINTIES - SZUŁDRZYŃSKI CONTINUES: “There is also another risk. If Bolton is right and Trump is not disinterested, the question arises what the American president will expect in return for helping the Polish president at the end of the election campaign... There are significantly more unknowns and potential risks here than certain points that Duda can add to his account at the very end of the campaign.”

-- ON THE PROBLEM WITH BIDEN - JĘDRZEJ BIELECKI IN RZ: “Joe Biden is already leading by 20 percentage points over the current president on issues of race and police conduct – the most important issues for Americans in these elections. However, information from 'Rzeczpospolita' indicates that the Biden campaign refused to send a representative of the Democratic candidate to a meeting with the Polish Ambassador to Washington, Piotr Wilczek, on Friday. This is another signal that over-reliance on Trump could have negative consequences for Poland if Joe Biden becomes the next president.”

-- THIS VISIT IS A FIGHT AGAINST A TRUE SHARP SHADOW OF MIST - Zbigniew Parafianowicz in DGP: “Today's meeting of Presidents Andrzej Duda and Donald Trump is completely different. It has been unequivocally included in the election calendar, which gives rise to accusations of interference in Polish politics. In the background is the book by former US National Security Advisor John Bolton, who played an important role in shaping policy towards our region during his tenure. Trump does not appear in it as a credible person. Furthermore, it is unclear whether he will retain his position after the autumn elections (the lead of Democrat Joe Biden reaches several percentage points), and therefore, to what extent the agreement reached today will be subject to revision. Until the last moment, many Poland-USA agreements were discussed. It was unclear what would remain of the military package described by us in dziennik.pl on Monday and in DGP on Tuesday. The hastily organized visit, if not shrouded in mist, certainly casts a sharp shadow over it.”

-- AN ATOMIC DECLARATION WOULD HARM ENERGY PRODUCTION BECAUSE CURRENT TECHNOLOGY IS OBSOLETE AND NEW TECHNOLOGY HAS NOT YET BEEN COMMERCIALLY IMPLEMENTED - MICHAŁ NIEWIADOMSKI IN RZ: “Duda's potential atomic declaration during the election period – when it is not at all certain that he will remain head of state for another five years – can only harm Polish energy. The technology of large units is not only expensive, but also its best years are behind it. And if such a power plant were actually to be built on the Vistula River, by the time such a unit is put into operation, it will be obsolete technology. Currently, small, cheaper, and faster-to-build reactors are in the testing phase in nuclear energy. It is not worth deciding on outdated technology now; it is worth waiting for the commercial implementation of new nuclear solutions and then making decisions.”

-- THE LEFT, OR THE FORMER PEASANTS OF THE CAMPAIGN GONE BY - Tomasz Żółciak and Grzegorz Osiecki in DGP: “Until recently, the PSL in the electoral triathlon fought like our national football team at the World Cup – for points in local elections, for everything in parliamentary elections, and finally for honor in presidential elections. Usually, in the latter, the peasant voters were not interested in their own candidate. This time, as polls show, the PSL's situation has changed. The left has fallen into a similar 'ailment'.”
-- DGP ON OVER A MILLION VOTES UP FOR GRABS: “If the turnout is similar to last year's parliamentary elections, over 18 million voters will go to the polls. The difference is about 1 percentage point, which, with the aforementioned higher turnout, translates to 180,000 people. In addition, there are undecided individuals (4.4% in our poll, or 792,000 people) and those not voting (3%, 540,000), who can influence the difference between the results of the two main candidates. Therefore, a fierce fight will take place until the last moment.”

-- EVEN UNDER PIŁSUDSKI IN POLAND, IT WASN'T LIKE THIS, THE POLICE HAVE BECOME A TOOL OF POLITICAL STRUGGLE SINCE THE PANDEMIC - JACEK ŻAKOWSKI IN GW: “It hasn't even been like this in Poland before, even under PiS. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the police have increasingly and shamelessly been used by the authorities as a tool of political struggle. Checking IDs, detaining, gassing, accusing, imposing horrendous fines, and threatening with proceedings have become police routine stimulated by politicians supporting Duda. Trzaskowski's entry and Duda's perceived weakening in the polls have intensified the abuse of police repression.”
-- THIS IS A PREVIEW OF WHAT AWAITS US - ŻAKOWSKI CONTINUES: “There are countless incidents like this. The fact that they are increasing is a preview of what awaits us if Andrzej Duda and his colleagues retain full power in Poland.”
-- THE STAKES OF THESE ELECTIONS ARE THE IMMUNITY OF THE AUTHORITIES - ŻAKOWSKI CONTINUES: “The stakes of these elections – which have not been strongly emphasized lately – are not social, tax, or other promises, but the future of a system in which the functioning of the apparatus of power increasingly serves to maintain power by specific individuals and their impunity. Not by enforcing the law or caring for the fate of citizens and the state.”

-- THE CHOICE IS LIKE BETWEEN A FIRE IN THE HOUSE AND A BROKEN ARM - SZYMON HOŁOWNIA IN AN INTERVIEW WITH PAWEŁ WROŃSKI IN GW: “On my campaign trail, I met many people who told me they had never voted before and would go for the first time now. They asked how it's done, whether you need an ID, whether the commission asks any questions. I am witnessing the resurrection of citizenship firsthand. For these people, as for me, the choice between PiS and PO is a choice between a fire in the house and a broken arm.”
-- DUDA'S ELECTION IS A RETURN TO THE PRL, A CEMENTATION OF A SYSTEM HEADING TOWARDS DICTATORSHIP - HOŁOWNIA CONTINUES IN GW: “The election of Andrzej Duda for another term would effectively take Poland back to the times of the PRL, leading to the cementing of a system heading towards dictatorship. The election of Rafał Trzaskowski, on the other hand, means standing still, another chapter in the old internal war of the would-be POPiS, in which we are all hostages. Platforma has no vision; it only knows one thing: it wants to defeat PiS. PiS does evil, Platforma doesn't know how to do good. If I were convinced that the solution today is Poland of PiS or Poland of PO, I would not undertake the effort associated with running, building a civic movement from scratch. Poland should not go backward or stand still; it should move forward.”
-- I SEE NO NEED FOR NUCLEAR WEAPONS TO BE STATIONED IN POLAND - HOŁOWNIA CONTINUES: “I see no need for nuclear weapons to be stationed on the territory of the Republic of Poland. This will not serve our security, just as signing the National Security Strategy by the president will not serve it, which in the 21st century makes universal territorial defense the basis of Poland's defense – a concept from the deep 20th century.”

-- I WOULD LIKE TO GO TO KYIV FIRST - SZYMON HOŁOWNIA IN AN INTERVIEW WITH ZUZANNA DĄBROWSKA IN RZ: “First of all, I would like to go to Kyiv, of course, if there was readiness from the Ukrainian side. We have completely neglected Polish Eastern policy. We were once co-creators of this policy for the entire European Union; today, no one even consults with us. We are also completely silent on the current, increasingly worrying situation in Belarus. This is a big mistake: an independent, free Ukraine is part of our raison d'état, and we should have the best possible relations with it. Further steps should be taken towards France, Germany, and the European Union. The rebuilding of the Weimar Triangle, which President Macron extended his hand towards during his visit to Poland, is definitely in our interest. Regarding geopolitics: we live in a world where there is a great dispute between the USA and China, and our raison d'état should be the ability to create multilateral alliances in this divided world or at least be a member of them, in bilateral or trilateral arrangements.”
-- I WANT TO REPAIR THE MISTAKE OF THE PLATFORM AND THE LATER CRIMINAL ACTIVITY OF PIŚ - HOŁOWNIA CONTINUES IN RZ: “Yes, I want to repair the mistake of the Platform, and later the criminal activity of PiS. This must be done ruthlessly to restore order in the entire area of justice. Bringing order to the mess that PiS has created is a job for years. Because it is not only a matter of sanation laws, including those concerning the Constitutional Tribunal, which no one takes seriously today, and the Supreme Court, and the National Council of the Judiciary – but also building a majority around these laws. And this will take a lot of time. However, what can be done immediately is to implement the president's policy by respecting the independence of the courts. If, for example, nominations come from the KRS, I will only sign those that have received a positive opinion from the General Assembly of a given court.”

-- KRZYSZTOF BOSAK ON ORBÁN'S EXEMPLARY POLICY - IN AN INTERVIEW WITH JACEK NIZINKIEWICZ IN RZ: “The goal of the first visit would be Budapest, as the capital of a country that pursues the multi-vector, assertive policy I advocate, yet remains within the European Union and simultaneously rejects the political correctness forced upon us in the EU.”

According to 'Wyborcza' sources, he may still be under the protection of current special services. Since we revealed that the Ministry of Health bought respirators from Lublin businessman Andrzej Izdebski, who was previously involved in illegal arms trading, speculation has been ongoing as to how it was possible that the services had no reservations about a contract worth over PLN 200 million.”

-- PHOTO. STRANGE GARDEN, JÓZEF MEHOFFER, National Museum in Warsaw.
The realistic convention of imagery, full of tension, is combined in Mehoffer's painting with the idyllic character of the theme. The glow of sunlight and the opening of the scene to the viewer are combined with its intimate character. Józef Mehoffer's "Strange Garden" is a composition that clearly goes beyond the category of a portrait of the artist's closest individuals. It was created during the painter's and his family's summer holiday in Siedlec near Krakow in 1902, but was ultimately completed in 1903, as indicated by the signature. Shown publicly in the following three years in Vienna, St. Louis, Chicago, and Munich, it gained the appreciation of jurors and official awards.
The painting is filled with the atmosphere of a hot summer. It is filled with lush green trees and grass, colorful flowers, intense sun, branches bent under the weight of ripening fruit. The color palette ranges from green interwoven with brown and gray shades of trunks, through small accents of meadow colors, to larger patches of flowers held by a boy and colorful strings of garlands encircling the trees. The different coloration of individual figures breaks the fresh and joyful natural tone, but the whole is bound together by a special luminosity.
A characteristic feature of the composition is the limitation of the field of vision. The viewer looks from a short distance into the garden, without encompassing its boundaries with their gaze. The canvas shows only a fragment of space, which feels rather cramped, framed by a mass of greenery. The view of the figures is clearly from above, but this elevated viewpoint is then balanced by the rising landscape in the further part of the depiction.
