Trzaskowski Against Term Limits in Local Government:

Paradoxically, There Will Be More Party Influence.

"I am for citizens deciding, and truly, the residents of our cities and towns know best whether a given mayor should continue their mission or not," said Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24, when asked about the abolition of term limits.

"Paradoxically, it's the exact opposite, meaning if a limit of only two terms were introduced, most local government officials would wonder about what's next, and in that sense, they would become more dependent on political parties, they would strive to potentially continue their political careers in the future," he continued, when asked about the argument concerning local arrangements and networks.

"Decisions of this type will paradoxically lead to more party and political influence, rather than citizen influence. I believe that citizens should be the ones making decisions," he went on to say.
