Today, the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, is visiting Poland. At 10:00 AM, a welcome ceremony for the guest by President Andrzej Duda will begin. At 10:15 AM, a private meeting between the two presidents will take place, followed by an exchange of gifts at 10:35 AM, and a plenary session chaired by the presidents at 10:40 AM. The signing of documents in the presence of the heads of state is scheduled for 11:30 AM, after which they will make statements to the media around 12:00 PM.

At 2:00 PM, the President of Poland and the President of Mongolia will participate in the inauguration of the Polish-Mongolian Economic Forum. Both leaders are scheduled to give speeches. At 5:15 PM in Opole, an open meeting will be held with Rafał Trzaskowski, the Civic Coalition candidate for president.

At 11:30 AM in Lublin, a press conference will be held by the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Sławomir Nitras. The topic will be the announcement of a new program for the development of sports infrastructure and support for sports clubs in the Lublin and Subcarpathian voivodeships.

I believe there is nothing worse than putting forward an idea that makes sense and hearing a response three days later that it's out of the question, because that simply weakens us. Such matters need to be handled behind closed doors, with certainty that there is at least some path forward – indicated the Minister of Interior and Administration.

"First, we need to talk to the Americans, and then announce anything"
– The fate of future American presence is being decided here, as we are receiving various signals from Washington regarding its nature and form. Regarding Poland, there have been clear declarations that this presence will be maintained, but we are witnessing this discussion in Washington. It naturally has a context of future peace agreements and the shape of NATO. Therefore, I believe that in such situations, we must first talk to the Americans and then announce anything – he assessed.

"If there is an open path, it's worth pursuing"
– I draw attention to Prime Minister Tusk's speech last Friday, where he said: we will use all means for Poland's security. It was a very clear declaration that we will do everything […], Poland's security above all. Every American installation, such as the shield in Redzikowo, every American aircraft, soldier, or piece of equipment serves Poland's security. Therefore, if there is an open path for this, it is certainly worth pursuing. […] It would certainly be a strong signal – he stated.

He added: – Many different things are being said in the media now. However, some things are easily said in the media, and then there is no follow-up, which is not a good sequence of events for the citizens.

– Security matters must be taken out of political disputes, and when we talk about the nuclear umbrella extended over Poland, we are indeed talking about strengthening Polish security, and that is how President Duda's remarks to the 'Financial Times' should be understood – stated Wojciech Kolarski on RMF FM.

– This is not a new issue; the matter of nuclear sharing has been part of the discourse for some time. In an interview with a leading political journalist from French television last Sunday, the President also expressed himself positively about President Macron's concept – the presidential minister continued.

– It is important for Poland to be secure. This is the most crucial issue for us today in these unsettled times, and nuclear weapons serve Poland's security – he added.

– I think Prime Minister Tusk should pray for Karol Nawrocki's victory – said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program “Gość Radia ZET”.

– When President Duda finishes his term, we will have almost no channels of communication with the United States, because the current government is cut off from the most important government of the United States – he continued.

– Our Members of the European Parliament voted for the East Shield […] while voting against a Brussels army, against an army that would presumably consist of civil servants, because I don’t really see soldiers there in Belgium, Germany, or France […] this resolution gives Brussels […] exclusivity, and in reality, decision-making power in the area of defence policy – he continued.

– Defence shifted to Brussels means that someone else will decide whether we can activate all our defence systems – he added.

– I confirm the information that appeared earlier, some time ago. I say this with great satisfaction, that after a year of completely unnecessary dispute instigated by the government, the government is again starting not only to observe the law but also certain customs. One of these people is the head of the mission, our mission to the EU, and here we are dealing with the president's consent based on the so-called competency act. Meanwhile, an example of the return to good practices by Donald Tusk's government are two other candidates who have been sent to the Palace – stated Wojciech Kolarski on RMF FM.

– I can confirm that the government has returned to the old, good customs, and after a completely unnecessary dispute, the presidential prerogatives have been respected, and importantly, President Duda has also done this for future presidents, for the office of the president – he continued.

– The head of the mission [in the USA], Bogdan Klich, is the wrong person. This is one of the most important, if not the most important, mission. Doors will be closed for Bogdan Klich in Washington. Besides, we already have information that he is not functioning as a Polish diplomat who can arrange important matters for Poland – stated Wojciech Kolarski on RMF FM.

– We are returning from Ankara very satisfied with the results of this meeting. We have agreed that we will seek all ways to tighten cooperation regarding Turkey's and Poland's defense industries, military cooperation, and actions on the international stage for a just peace. Turkey is also ready to get involved, for example, to stabilize the situation in the Black Sea region – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

– I recommended and urged President Erdoğan that Turkey not hesitate in its presence in stabilizing the situation after a ceasefire and peace are achieved in Ukraine. Turkey is a NATO state, but it maintains a position that perhaps will allow Turkey to be accepted as one of the key partners for maintaining the ceasefire and later peace in Ukraine. We would be very satisfied with that – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a press briefing.

– I also informed the President of Turkey about how Poland will be involved in stabilizing the situation in the region. It is known that Poland is not sending soldiers, but I gained full understanding from our Turkish partner that the duty of the Polish army is to guard the eastern flank, meaning our border with Russia and Belarus, which is also a border of NATO and the European Union – he continued.

– Russia's response is, to put it mildly, unsatisfactory, not to say mysterious and enigmatic. In reality, no one knows today whether Russia is preliminarily accepting the proposal for a 30-day truce or if it will multiply conditions that, as preliminary conditions, we all believe are unacceptable to the other partners – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

– But this is what we expected. It is good that after the talks in Saudi Arabia, no one has any doubts anymore, not only about who is the aggressor and who is the victim of this war, but also about who truly desires a truce and peace, and who wants to continue this war – he continued.

– I would greatly value, and this is for me a rather obvious matter of state interest for Poland, that we formulate certain expectations when we do so publicly, when we are certain or have reasons to be convinced that such appeals or calls will be heeded and that the addressee, in this case the American administration, President Trump, is prepared for a positive reaction. And of course, speaking seriously, such matters are better handled discreetly rather than through press interviews, but there won't be any particular damage, and I appreciate President Duda's efforts – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

– I must admit, I was speechless, frankly. I'm talking about this vote, and I personally worked on it for many weeks to ensure that expenditures and investments related to Poland's security and its eastern border, the so-called Eastern Shield, would be recognized as a shared responsibility of the entire EU – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

– I am not surprised that the Confederation, one might say the Confederation of Targowica, because it really looks to me like they always vote as Russia would expect. Anyway, the Confederation doesn't hide its anti-Ukrainian and pro-Russian sympathies, but the fact that PiS, apparently very lost, joined the Confederation in this vote, and then these idiotic explanations today, is something that exceeds even my imagination. So I can only repeat what I said before flying to Turkey: the opposition leaders, mainly from PiS, must restrain their emotions and be more collected, because they can cause damage – he continued.

"When I hear these PiS arguments, I want to tap my head, because we are not talking about a common European army," Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during a press briefing, responding to a question about how he assesses the arguments against the resolution in the European Parliament which state that it involves changes going beyond the treaties, threatening sovereignty, because EU treaties do not provide for a common European army.

"We are talking about the fact that we have a very specific problem, namely securing Poland's eastern border, the border with Russia and Belarus, and we need to invest significant money in this – it's about drones, fortifications, and preparations that are nature-friendly but can also contribute to the security of this border," he continued.

"I believe that everyone in Poland understands this, except for Kaczyński and his colleagues. I'll wave away Konfederacja's stance, because it is in our interest for NATO countries, for European Union countries, to treat this as a common border, as it will simply be easier for us to finance and organize this assistance," the head of government continued.

"It is not sacrilege to say that the stance of Washington today regarding the durability of the presence of American troops in Europe is sometimes questioned by the Americans themselves. Therefore, it is the obvious duty of every patriot to ensure that as many Western countries as possible treat the defense of Poland's eastern border as a common obligation," he added.

Presidents Andrzej Duda and Khurelsukh Ukhnaa have signed a joint declaration on a comprehensive partnership between Poland and Mongolia. In the presence of the leaders of both states, a series of other bilateral documents were also signed.

– This is not new in this regard. I remember statements from a few years ago, and from a year ago as well. This is a very serious matter, and I believe that decisions on this matter should be made collectively, preferably based on NATO. They should be transatlantic, as effective as possible in their actions, because this is a topic so sensitive that fewer words in public discourse and more action will yield a very strong deterrent effect, and I encourage that – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

– I am pleased that over these past few years, trade turnover between Poland and Mongolia has been systematically increasing, and looking at the years 2020-2025, we can confidently say that our mutual trade turnover has practically doubled – said President Andrzej Duda in a statement after a meeting with the President of Mongolia.

– Both the President and I strongly emphasized today that we would certainly have been able to achieve the level of turnover we discussed two years ago. – As I was coming here, I was reading another report concerning ammunition production in Poland, arms production in Poland. You know, I read it and my hands droop to the ground with a quiet rustle. That is, what more needs to happen for this law, which we passed in November last year, on increasing ammunition production in Poland to finally be respected, to finally come into effect – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

– I discussed this, I invited the Minister of State Assets to a meeting last week. He reassured me that things are moving in the right direction, that we will soon have it, but for now, I don't see it moving in the direction it should – he continued.

– There are many other moments when one can start pushing the digital tax issue, which should be introduced, it is fair, but it needs to be done wisely, one needs to know when to do it – he added.

Like all other councils of this type, committees, or boards in the civilized world, the main premise for shaping interest rates is, of course, the level of inflation and the future trend of inflation – stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

– Stabilization of interest rates is absolutely necessary to bring inflation down to the NBP’s inflation target, which I will remind you, is 2.5 +/- 1 percentage point – he added.

– In the last few quarters, inflation has risen very sharply. In January, according to preliminary data, it stood at 5.3%, and in the second quarter of 2024, it was 2.5%. This means that inflation in Poland has more than doubled and significantly exceeds the NBP's inflation target – said Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

– Excluding the period of global shocks from recent years, i.e., the pandemic and the energy shock related to Russian aggression in Ukraine, inflation is currently the highest in over 20 years – he continued.

– Looking at the medium term, the projection gives hope that at the current NBP interest rate levels, I emphasize, at the current NBP interest rate levels, inflation will decrease in 2026. Simultaneously, in 2027, it will align with the NBP target – stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

– The current level of NBP interest rates is not a significant barrier to economic development and investment, as this is publicly raised. There is no substantive support for such a strong thesis – stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

– Survey research of companies, which the NBP conducts itself, unequivocally indicates that the most important barriers to development for companies are rising or too high prices for supplies. This includes energy primarily, as well as high wage costs – he added.

– 27 countries must convene, 27 countries must decide whether they will apply the blocking minority or the qualified majority, the double legislative process, because we have the European Council, we have the European Parliament, we have the European Commission, and they all participate in the lawmaking process. This must be reformed – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– So we have to think about how to make this mechanism work differently. But this will not happen, even if I become president, in the next term of that president, the Polish president, I don't know if not even in the one after that. This conversation must begin – he continued.

– Moreover, we have a saboteur and Putin’s agent on board in this 27 [EU countries], namely Orban, who will block everything that doesn’t suit Putin, to put it quite plainly – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– I genuinely have a pragmatic approach to the European Union, but I am also deeply convinced that in our geopolitical situation, there is no vacuum. There is no vacuum between Germany and Russia; we have experienced this throughout our history and know well that you are either in the East or in the West. So I choose for us to be in the West – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– Switzerland can afford to be neutral […]. In our position, one cannot be in the middle; it's impossible, we will not be Switzerland. We must register ourselves either here or there. If we don't register ourselves to the West, the East will come and register us to itself – he continued.

– In 2023, the PiS government signed an agreement for the delivery of over a thousand Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles, produced at the Stalowa Wola steelworks. And what are the current rulers doing? They want to order only, and pay attention, 116 units. The contract is to be for 4 years. This means that less than 30 Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles will be delivered to the army annually. At this rate, delivering a thousand units will take over 30 years. If this is how the combat and operational capabilities of the Polish Army are to be increased, then I am genuinely terrified – says Mateusz Morawiecki in a recording published on social media.

– Konfederacja's "5," do you remember Konfederacja's "5"? Poland without Jews, without gays, without taxes. So maybe let's stop "without taxes." If there are no taxes in Poland, who will pay for your medical treatment? Who will pay for your studies? Who will pay for your parents' treatment if they end up in the hospital? Please tell me, who will pay for that? – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– When Przemysław Wipler comes onto the stage and says, "Why did you promise to double the tax-free amount and you didn't do it," I have a simple question for him, because you were supposed to come from Konfederacja to meetings and ask me when the tax-free amount will be increased [...] then, when you find 50 billion zlotys in the budget and tell us what to cut to increase this tax-free amount – he continued.

– Maybe we should eliminate 800+, go out and tell people, 70 billion zlotys. Or perhaps the 13th and 14th pensions [should be eliminated], have the courage to go out and tell pensioners that this 30 billion zlotys will no longer reach them. Or maybe we need to take these 50 billion from the 170 billion that we spend on pensions altogether – he went on to say.

– We don’t need a president in shorts today, a president from TikTok, a president who will pop into some city, recite for 20 minutes what he was told, and then fly to the next one, chasing popularity, not to solve the problems of Poles, but to solve some of his own ambitious problem – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– This is a model of leadership [...] that I do not accept, which I consider parasitic on Poland’s difficult situation today, which I consider to be playing in unison with what the Kremlin wants for Poland today – he continued.

– This is a danger, and Mentzen’s candidate’s vision of vetoing all bills until the government does as he wants is political paranoia. It is not leadership, it is the paranoia of a political pestilence – he went on to say.

– The world is a strange place. When we look around us, there are certainly reasons for concern. But I want to reassure you, because we are safe and we truly have a historic opportunity to be a leader for all of Europe – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Opole.

And we have never been so relatively wealthy, compared to other countries – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Opole.

– Not so long ago, when the most important decisions regarding security were being made, Poland was often a bystander. Today, Poland is a leading actor, influencing what happens, and a true leader of the EU – he continued.

So, to talk in Poland, where there's a church on every second corner […] to talk about the Church being persecuted in Poland, that is an insult to those who truly suffer today because of their faith – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– Regarding religion classes […] I think the solution of combining classes is absurd. And I believe we should withdraw from it. […] How can you combine fourth-graders with eighth-graders, or even sixth-graders with seventh-graders, when their development, their perception, works completely differently – he continued.

– I believe that the Episcopate […] is an organization that should thoroughly reform itself, and beforehand, in sackcloth and ashes, apologize for all its mistakes […] but they had a good proposal […] when it comes to religion classes. Yes, in my opinion, religion or ethics should be compulsory and included in the average. Why? Because […] there must be some logic of values that school teaches, any logic, whether it's Christian or entirely secular – he went on to say.

– Here I disagree with Minister Nowacka, and I agree with the Polish Episcopate, and if I am president, I will also present such a stance – he added.

– I am truly surprised that at a time when a resolution aimed at strengthening our security is being voted on in the European Union, in the European Parliament, a resolution that speaks to what we greatly desired: that the Eastern Shield is in fact a European program, that PiS politicians are able to vote against such a resolution – Rafał Trzaskowski said in Opole.

– I am surprised that they are able to attack those today who speak clearly about security and try to differentiate themselves at all costs – he continued.

– Right now, it is truly not the time to constantly disagree. After all, this is an appeal from our American allies for Europe to take on greater responsibility concerning security. – Donald Tusk has convinced Europe, he has convinced our European partners that Shield Europe is an absolutely priority project for the security not only of Poland, but of all of Europe. And for this project we need means, funds, and yesterday's resolution, the EP's resolution, was a very important political step precisely in this direction – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

– A European awakening is needed, and it's happening. At this moment, a European awakening is taking place regarding defense spending and taking greater responsibility for our common European security – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

– I would like the entire project [Eastern Shield] to be financed by European funds, but of course, the Polish budget is also ready to finance further stages of this large, important project – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

– At the Ministry of Finance, as I have said before, we are not currently working on such a [digital] tax. – The "White Paper on the Future of European Defence", adopted by the European Parliament – unfortunately, with the votes of Polish MEPs from Civic Platform and The Left as well – is a document that is as naive as it is dangerous. As an example, he pointed to two of its points (10 and 66), which, in his opinion, prove that "future defence decisions, instead of being in the hands of member states, would be centralised at the EU level", and "Poland – against its will – could be outvoted, for instance, on the shape of its own army or the scope of national armament."

The former head of government concluded: – The message is simple – Poland's security, including issues of the military and our borders, cannot depend on politicians in European institutions. I have always stood and will always stand guard over our right to self-determination. It is Poles – and no one else – who should decide on matters crucial to the existence of the state – today and in the future!

– Within the framework of these negotiations, it was agreed that digital taxes would not be introduced as long as the negotiations are ongoing. However, the current stance of the American administration, for instance, suggests that these negotiations may conclude, and then the space for discussions on new taxes, including a digital tax, will be open – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

– This plan [regarding the increase in the tax-free allowance] will be presented to the Prime Minister. We have several macroeconomic variables that we are currently observing, primarily a clear acceleration of economic recovery, and more and more funds are flowing into Poland from the KPO, which will also drive economic growth this year – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

– This plan to increase the tax-free allowance, to fulfill this promise, it is, as it were, still current. We are working on it so that it can be implemented as quickly as possible, but I cannot give a date at the moment – the Minister of Finance continued.

– If someone shows a willingness to talk, Russians interpret it as weakness, and because the Americans showed such a willingness to talk, Russians are demonstrating that they will not budge an inch. Incidentally, such a statement was also made by Putin a few days earlier, that he would not budge an inch, would not yield anything, because righteousness, peace, is on his side; after all, he has done nothing else for three years but strive for lasting peace – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in Polsat News.

– We know about President Trump that he is capable of radical, unpredictable actions. Sometimes they can be beneficial from the perspective of Europe, of Poland's raison d'état. Sometimes they can be difficult for us, but he is certainly capable of acting sharply, distinctly, radically – stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in Polsat News.

– Unfortunately, Hungary is behaving like a Russian troll in the European Union, and this has not been happening for just a day. In all dimensions, in many cases they have already tried to contest, to veto sanctions, including economic ones, because Hungary is hugely dependent on the EU economy after all. Therefore, it was possible to exert pressure and somehow influence Hungary to withdraw its veto. Perhaps it will be possible to do so again now – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in Polsat News.

– A nuclear umbrella over Poland, whether from the American side or from NATO, I think the NATO dimension is particularly interesting for us. It is certainly worth considering, but these are super difficult, very subtle matters, and negotiations should probably not start with intelligence reports and public declarations, but internally.
