08:05

Kaczyński on EP Vote:

It Wasn’t About ‘Eastern Shield,’ which has been a mere image project for months.

Independence means having your own currency, your own budget, your own army. Ceding the ability to decide on our security means losing sovereignty – Jarosław Kaczyński wrote on social media.

Today's vote in the European Parliament was not about the “Eastern Shield,” which unfortunately has been only an image project for months, not a real one – emphasized the PiS leader.

This is another example, following the recent CJEU opinion challenging the primacy of the Polish constitution over European law, of the EU interfering in member states' competences without basis in the treaties – he added.

Nuclear Weapons in Poland? Siemoniak Suggests Openness to Duda's Proposal

– Nuclear Sharing, which is the possibility of stationing American nuclear warheads on the territory of a given country and using that country's aircraft for this purpose, has a history of several decades. Various European countries have benefited from it – said Tomasz Siemoniak in the "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" program on TVN24.

"The condition for discussing this is..."
– The condition for discussing this is that the American side is open to it. I believe there is nothing worse than putting forward an idea that makes sense and hearing a response three days later that it's out of the question, because that simply weakens us. Such matters need to be handled behind closed doors, with certainty that there is at least some path forward – indicated the Minister of Interior and Administration.

"First, we need to talk to the Americans, and then announce anything"
– The fate of future American presence is being decided here, as we are receiving various signals from Washington regarding its nature and form. Regarding Poland, there have been clear declarations that this presence will be maintained, but we are witnessing this discussion in Washington. It naturally has a context of future peace agreements and the shape of NATO. Therefore, I believe that in such situations, we must first talk to the Americans and then announce anything – he assessed.

"If there is an open path, it's worth pursuing"
– I draw attention to Prime Minister Tusk's speech last Friday, where he said: we will use all means for Poland's security. It was a very clear declaration that we will do everything […], Poland's security above all. Every American installation, such as the shield in Redzikowo, every American aircraft, soldier, or piece of equipment serves Poland's security. Therefore, if there is an open path for this, it is certainly worth pursuing. […] It would certainly be a strong signal – he stated.

He added: – Many different things are being said in the media now. However, some things are easily said in the media, and then there is no follow-up, which is not a good sequence of events for the citizens.

08:25

Kolarski on Duda's Proposal:

Nuclear Weapons Serve Poland's Security.

Security matters must be taken out of political disputes, and when we talk about the nuclear umbrella extended over Poland, we are indeed talking about strengthening Polish security, and that is how President Duda's remarks to the 'Financial Times' should be understood – stated Wojciech Kolarski on RMF FM.

This is not a new issue; the matter of nuclear sharing has been part of the discourse for some time. In an interview with a leading political journalist from French television last Sunday, the President also expressed himself positively about President Macron's concept – the presidential minister continued.

It is important for Poland to be secure. This is the most crucial issue for us today in these unsettled times, and nuclear weapons serve Poland's security – he added.

08:34

Morawiecki:

Tusk Should Pray for Nawrocki's Victory

– I think Prime Minister Tusk should pray for Karol Nawrocki's victory – said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program “Gość Radia ZET”.

– When President Duda finishes his term, we will have almost no channels of communication with the United States, because the current government is cut off from the most important government of the United States – he continued.

08:43

Morawiecki:

If the Government Continues to Push the USA Out of Poland and Europe, Poles Will Have to Die on the Bug and San Rivers

– If we want peace to prevail, we must realize that it may depend solely on the United States. The current government, and especially the current Prime Minister, by speaking of geopolitical outsourcing, and the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is not a diplomat but a Twitter celebrity, are actually pushing the United States out of Europe, driving Americans away from Poland – said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET.

– If the current government continues to successfully push the United States out of Poland and Europe, if it quarrels with Washington, if Prime Minister Tusk continues to say, as he did not so long ago, that Donald Trump has been a Russian agent for 30 years, then we will be left alone, and if we are left alone, then our sons, our brothers, our fathers will have to die on the Bug and San rivers – he continued.

08:43

Kolarski on Military Training:

It Looks Like a Concept, an Idea That Isn't Fully Ready Yet.

This is the Prime Minister's announcement, which looks like a certain concept, an idea that is not yet fully ready, not prepared. The Presidential Chancellery has not received any details regarding this concept. We are very curious what lies behind this declaration – stated Wojciech Kolarski in RMF FM.

It is a good, needed announcement, but the devil is in the details – he added.

08:48

Morawiecki:

I Can Tutor Gawkowski and Tusk on How to Effectively Tax International Corporations

– I can tutor Mr. Gawkowski and Prime Minister Tusk on how to effectively impose a tax on international corporations, including technology companies. One simply needs to look at the data: when I was Prime Minister, this tax contributed three times more to the budget than at the beginning of our government’s term – said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET.

– Of course, there was a tax on international technology corporations, and whether we call this tax by one name or another is purely Mr. Gawkowski's game – he continued.

09:00

Morawiecki on a joint government with Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Of course, it’s current.

– Everything is better than this [current] government. Yes, of course, it’s current, because this government is extremely bad – said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET, when asked if he still believes that being in a joint government with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is a good idea.

– [Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz] let himself be tricked by Tusk, unfortunately the prime minister has a certain power of influence, I know something about that, and therefore his manipulations somehow permeated to other ministers – he continued.

09:05

Why is Nawrocki Lagging Behind PiS in the Polls? Morawiecki: Not All PiS Voters Have Familiarized Themselves with His Platform

– Not everyone who votes for PiS has yet familiarized themselves with his platform – Mateusz Morawiecki said on Radio ZET, when asked why Karol Nawrocki’s approval ratings are still lower than those of PiS.

– Recognition […] is a very long process, it sometimes takes years, so we may not be fully able to familiarize 100% of our supporters, our sympathizers with the platform, but we want to reach as broadly as possible – he continued.

– Our candidate is an absolutely irrevocable candidate, he is unchangeable, he is the only candidate – he emphasized.

09:14

A Confederation Prime Minister and a Coalition with PiS? Morawiecki: I Can Imagine Such a Government

– I treat all our potential coalition partners as equals […]. Although the Confederation attacks me, unfortunately sometimes together with Donald Tusk […] I have not attacked the Confederation for 5 years – said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET.

– I can imagine such a government because I can imagine with great pleasure any government except the one that is currently ruling over us ungraciously. This government is simply bad, and it is worth changing it at almost any cost – he continued, when asked if he could imagine a PiS and Confederation government in which the prime minister would be someone from the Confederation.

09:25

Morawiecki:

Our MEPs Voted for the East Shield, and Against a Brussels Army

– Yes – said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET, when asked if Poland would be safer thanks to the East Shield.

– Our Members of the European Parliament voted for the East Shield […] while voting against a Brussels army, against an army that would presumably consist of civil servants, because I don’t really see soldiers there in Belgium, Germany, or France […] this resolution gives Brussels […] exclusivity, and in reality, decision-making power in the area of defence policy – he continued.

– Defence shifted to Brussels means that someone else will decide whether we can activate all our defence systems – he added.

09:29

Kolarski on the Agreement Regarding Ambassadors:

I say this with great satisfaction.

I confirm the information that appeared earlier, some time ago. I say this with great satisfaction, that after a year of completely unnecessary dispute instigated by the government, the government is again starting not only to observe the law but also certain customs. One of these people is the head of the mission, our mission to the EU, and here we are dealing with the president's consent based on the so-called competency act. Meanwhile, an example of the return to good practices by Donald Tusk's government are two other candidates who have been sent to the Palace – stated Wojciech Kolarski on RMF FM.

I can confirm that the government has returned to the old, good customs, and after a completely unnecessary dispute, the presidential prerogatives have been respected, and importantly, President Duda has also done this for future presidents, for the office of the president – he continued.

09:30

Kolarski:

Doors Will Be Closed for Klich in Washington

The head of the mission [in the USA], Bogdan Klich, is the wrong person. This is one of the most important, if not the most important, mission. Doors will be closed for Bogdan Klich in Washington. Besides, we already have information that he is not functioning as a Polish diplomat who can arrange important matters for Poland – stated Wojciech Kolarski on RMF FM.

11:23

Tusk:

We are returning from Ankara very satisfied

We are returning from Ankara very satisfied with the results of this meeting. We have agreed that we will seek all ways to tighten cooperation regarding Turkey's and Poland's defense industries, military cooperation, and actions on the international stage for a just peace. Turkey is also ready to get involved, for example, to stabilize the situation in the Black Sea region – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

11:30

Tusk on Not Sending Polish Soldiers to Ukraine:

I Gained Full Understanding from My Turkish Partner.

– I recommended and urged President Erdoğan that Turkey not hesitate in its presence in stabilizing the situation after a ceasefire and peace are achieved in Ukraine. Turkey is a NATO state, but it maintains a position that perhaps will allow Turkey to be accepted as one of the key partners for maintaining the ceasefire and later peace in Ukraine. We would be very satisfied with that – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a press briefing.

– I also informed the President of Turkey about how Poland will be involved in stabilizing the situation in the region. It is known that Poland is not sending soldiers, but I gained full understanding from our Turkish partner that the duty of the Polish army is to guard the eastern flank, meaning our border with Russia and Belarus, which is also a border of NATO and the European Union – he continued.

11:31

Tusk on the Undeniable Clarity of Who Desires Truce and Peace, and Who Wants to Continue the War:

We Expected This.

Russia's response is, to put it mildly, unsatisfactory, not to say mysterious and enigmatic. In reality, no one knows today whether Russia is preliminarily accepting the proposal for a 30-day truce or if it will multiply conditions that, as preliminary conditions, we all believe are unacceptable to the other partners – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

But this is what we expected. It is good that after the talks in Saudi Arabia, no one has any doubts anymore, not only about who is the aggressor and who is the victim of this war, but also about who truly desires a truce and peace, and who wants to continue this war – he continued.

11:34

Tusk on Duda's proposal:

Such matters are better handled discreetly, but there won't be any particular damage.

I would greatly value, and this is for me a rather obvious matter of state interest for Poland, that we formulate certain expectations when we do so publicly, when we are certain or have reasons to be convinced that such appeals or calls will be heeded and that the addressee, in this case the American administration, President Trump, is prepared for a positive reaction. And of course, speaking seriously, such matters are better handled discreetly rather than through press interviews, but there won't be any particular damage, and I appreciate President Duda's efforts – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

11:41

Tusk on the EP Vote:

One Might Say the Confederation of Targowica.

I must admit, I was speechless, frankly. I'm talking about this vote, and I personally worked on it for many weeks to ensure that expenditures and investments related to Poland's security and its eastern border, the so-called Eastern Shield, would be recognized as a shared responsibility of the entire EU – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing.

I am not surprised that the Confederation, one might say the Confederation of Targowica, because it really looks to me like they always vote as Russia would expect. Anyway, the Confederation doesn't hide its anti-Ukrainian and pro-Russian sympathies, but the fact that PiS, apparently very lost, joined the Confederation in this vote, and then these idiotic explanations today, is something that exceeds even my imagination. So I can only repeat what I said before flying to Turkey: the opposition leaders, mainly from PiS, must restrain their emotions and be more collected, because they can cause damage – he continued.

11:50

Tusk:

"When I hear PiS's arguments, I want to tap my head, because we are not talking about a common European army"

"When I hear these PiS arguments, I want to tap my head, because we are not talking about a common European army," Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during a press briefing, responding to a question about how he assesses the arguments against the resolution in the European Parliament which state that it involves changes going beyond the treaties, threatening sovereignty, because EU treaties do not provide for a common European army.

"We are talking about the fact that we have a very specific problem, namely securing Poland's eastern border, the border with Russia and Belarus, and we need to invest significant money in this – it's about drones, fortifications, and preparations that are nature-friendly but can also contribute to the security of this border," he continued.

"Everyone in Poland understands this, except Kaczyński and his colleagues"

"I believe that everyone in Poland understands this, except for Kaczyński and his colleagues. I'll wave away Konfederacja's stance, because it is in our interest for NATO countries, for European Union countries, to treat this as a common border, as it will simply be easier for us to finance and organize this assistance," the head of government continued.

"It is not sacrilege to say that the stance of Washington today regarding the durability of the presence of American troops in Europe is sometimes questioned by the Americans themselves. Therefore, it is the obvious duty of every patriot to ensure that as many Western countries as possible treat the defense of Poland's eastern border as a common obligation," he added.

"There is no excuse for this behavior"

"They could have fallen silent after that stupid vote, apologized, and tried not to make such mistakes again, instead of spouting this nonsense [...] there is no excuse for this behavior," the Prime Minister emphasized.

12:14

Bryłka Responds to Tusk:

We Supported the Amendment, but We Won’t Agree to Further Erosion of Polish Sovereignty.

We supported the amendment regarding the Eastern Shield, but we will not agree to the further erosion of Polish sovereignty and the handover of more strategic competencies to the European Commission. Considering the political tradition of the PSL, to which you refer, I am shocked and disappointed by your stance – wrote Anna Bryłka on social media.

12:30

What's at Stake in the Elections:

Are You, Pole, So Stupid That Germans Must Decide For You?

Yesterday, politicians of the current coalition rejoiced that, according to the CJEU, Polish law is to be subordinate to what comes from Brussels, and today they voted to strip Poland of its veto power in foreign policy so that others can decide for us – wrote Patryk Jaki on social media.

This is also what the elections are about. Okay? Do you, Pole, think you are so stupid that Germans must decide for you, or do you have a sense of your own dignity? Everyone should answer this question for themselves – emphasized the PiS MEP.

12:35

Presidents of Poland and Mongolia Sign Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership

Presidents Andrzej Duda and Khurelsukh Ukhnaa have signed a joint declaration on a comprehensive partnership between Poland and Mongolia. In the presence of the leaders of both states, a series of other bilateral documents were also signed.

12:55

Kosiniak-Kamysz asked about Duda's proposal:

Decisions on this matter should be made collectively.

This is not new in this regard. I remember statements from a few years ago, and from a year ago as well. This is a very serious matter, and I believe that decisions on this matter should be made collectively, preferably based on NATO. They should be transatlantic, as effective as possible in their actions, because this is a topic so sensitive that fewer words in public discourse and more action will yield a very strong deterrent effect, and I encourage that – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

12:56

Duda:

I hope Polish companies will enter the Mongolian market more strongly

– I am pleased that over these past few years, trade turnover between Poland and Mongolia has been systematically increasing, and looking at the years 2020-2025, we can confidently say that our mutual trade turnover has practically doubled – said President Andrzej Duda in a statement after a meeting with the President of Mongolia.

– Both the President and I strongly emphasized today that we would certainly have been able to achieve the level of turnover we discussed two years ago. We were counting on it to reach perhaps even $200 million in the near future. Unfortunately, this has not yet been achieved, but this is also related to, among other things, the transportation difficulties that exist between our countries today, naturally linked to the ongoing war, to the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine – he continued.

– We both have great hope that this war will soon end with a just and lasting peace… that we will not be threatened, in the broadest sense of the word, by the outbreak of another war, further aggression, further unrest that could disrupt the building of these mutual relations, both economic, interpersonal, and tourist, and in all other fields – he went on to say.

– I am immensely pleased that so many agreements have just been concluded, starting with the declaration on enhanced cooperation between our countries and the plan for this cooperation for the years 2025-2030, i.e., for the next five-year period, through all subsequent agreements that have been signed between our institutions and our universities. This is a very important step towards… the intensification of these relations, interpersonal exchange – he added.

– I hope… that Polish companies, including large ones such as KGHM, will enter the Mongolian market more strongly and that we will develop this cooperation in many fields […]. The President and I also discussed cooperation in the field of tourism – he emphasized.

13:27

Confederation Club Leader Writes to Kosiniak-Kamysz Regarding Starlinks:

Spending Hundreds of Millions Cannot Happen Without Any Rules.

Let's check the facts and verify whether the Polish government, regarding the financing of Starlinks for Ukraine, is acting in accordance with applicable Polish legal acts? Because the Polish government's spending of hundreds of millions of zlotys cannot happen without any rules, can it? Or can it? – wrote Grzegorz Płaczek on social media.

The head of the Confederation's parliamentary club published a list of 7 questions, addressed in an interpelation to the Minister of National Defence.

14:30

Hołownia on Poland's Ammunition Production Capabilities:

My Hands Droop to the Ground with a Quiet Rustle.

As I was coming here, I was reading another report concerning ammunition production in Poland, arms production in Poland. You know, I read it and my hands droop to the ground with a quiet rustle. That is, what more needs to happen for this law, which we passed in November last year, on increasing ammunition production in Poland to finally be respected, to finally come into effect – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

I discussed this, I invited the Minister of State Assets to a meeting last week. He reassured me that things are moving in the right direction, that we will soon have it, but for now, I don't see it moving in the direction it should – he continued.

14:31

Hołownia Appeals to Coalition Partners:

Stop Playing Politics with Abortion in Future Campaigns and Get to Work.

Today, Polish women need a step forward, any step forward. After that drastic, inhumane gesture made by Julia Przyłębska's Constitutional Tribunal. Are we now going to hold them hostage to the presidential elections or the 2027 elections? This is my appeal to the political class to finally stop playing politics with abortion in future campaigns, because I have been through this, I have seen it many times. Whenever there is an election campaign, one side always brings up the issue of abortion. People, get to work, if you're not ashamed, the bills are lying in committee – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

As soon as possible, these bills should leave the committee, I don't know why they are being frozen there, as soon as possible they should be passed by the Sejm and sent to the president, I don't understand this, it looks like some kind of campaign sabotage to me – he continued.

14:36

Hołownia:

Glapiński is One of the Main Factors Blocking Economic Development in Poland

Adam Glapiński is currently one of the fundamental factors blocking economic development in Poland, blocking the freedom to spend money by those who would like to invest it – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

14:36

Hołownia on the Digital Tax:

This Is Not the Happiest Moment for Such Declarations.

I don't know if this is the happiest moment to come out with the idea of a digital tax, at a time when a full-scale customs war with the United States already threatens us, and adding fuel to the fire with this kind of declaration can only worsen the situation – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

There are many other moments when one can start pushing the digital tax issue, which should be introduced, it is fair, but it needs to be done wisely, one needs to know when to do it – he added.

14:36

Hołownia Attacks Mentzen Again:

We Need an Effective President, Not One Who Will Childishly Flip Tables.

We need a president who will be strong, effective, independent, and who will know how to cooperate, rather than one who will childishly, because there's no other way to put it, chase around, flip tables, and shout that he'll show everyone now – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference.

14:38

Sikorski on Duda's Proposal:

For 10 Years He Didn't Get Used to Foreign Policy Being Conducted by the Government.

The President [Duda] has spent 10 years not getting used to the fact that foreign policy is conducted by the government, he probably won't get used to it anymore. I would prefer these matters to be discussed within a nuclear planning group and in discreet dialogue with countries that possess this weapon, rather than publicly – stated Radosław Sikorski at a press briefing.

14:39

Sikorski on Ukraine:

If Russia Rejects the Test, It Will Fail – It Will Be Clear Who Wants War and Who Wants Peace.

The joint American-Ukrainian statement has presented a test for the Russian Federation. Specifically, Ukraine has agreed to a 30-day ceasefire with the aim of reaching a peace agreement. If Russia rejects this test, it will fail – it will be clear who wants war and who wants peace – stated Radosław Sikorski at a press briefing.

15:51

Glapiński:

Interest Rate Stabilization Necessary for Inflation Reduction, Cease Appeals for Specific Policies

I kindly ask that appeals to the Chairman for this or that policy finally cease, but appeals to all members of the Monetary Policy Council also make no sense. They vote substantively, in accordance with the data. Like all other councils of this type, committees, or boards in the civilized world, the main premise for shaping interest rates is, of course, the level of inflation and the future trend of inflation – stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

Stabilization of interest rates is absolutely necessary to bring inflation down to the NBP’s inflation target, which I will remind you, is 2.5 +/- 1 percentage point – he added.

15:52

Glapiński:

Excluding the Period of Global Shocks, Inflation is Currently the Highest in Over 20 Years

In the last few quarters, inflation has risen very sharply. In January, according to preliminary data, it stood at 5.3%, and in the second quarter of 2024, it was 2.5%. This means that inflation in Poland has more than doubled and significantly exceeds the NBP's inflation target – said Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

Excluding the period of global shocks from recent years, i.e., the pandemic and the energy shock related to Russian aggression in Ukraine, inflation is currently the highest in over 20 years – he continued.

15:57

Grabiec:

Unanimity Requirement Allows Putin's Collaborators to Sabotage EU Activity

"Why is the EU's departure from unanimity in defense funding decisions essential for us? For one thing, because the EU wants to reimburse Poland billions for military aid provided to Ukraine – by the PiS government, incidentally. Why haven't we received these funds? Because PiS's colleagues from Hungary blocked the payouts from the fund. The unanimity requirement allows Putin's collaborators to sabotage EU activity. PiS whines that the change means a "loss of sovereignty". What nonsense..." – wrote Jan Grabiec on X.

16:01

Bryłka Questions Abandoning Unanimity Principle in the EU:

Is This the Government’s Official Stance? Do You Really Support This?

“Is this the official stance of Donald Tusk’s government? The abolition of the veto right, the transition from unanimity to qualified majority voting in the Council and the European Council in managing European defense, do you really support this??” – wrote Anna Bryłka on X, referring to the post by the Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Jan Grabiec, on why, in his opinion, the EU’s departure from unanimity on defense financing matters is essential.

16:31

Glapiński:

At Current Interest Rate Levels, Inflation Will Reach NBP Target by 2027

Looking at the medium term, the projection gives hope that at the current NBP interest rate levels, I emphasize, at the current NBP interest rate levels, inflation will decrease in 2026. Simultaneously, in 2027, it will align with the NBP target – stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

16:33

Glapiński:

Current Interest Rate Levels Are Not a Significant Barrier to Economic Development

The current level of NBP interest rates is not a significant barrier to economic development and investment, as this is publicly raised. There is no substantive support for such a strong thesis – stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

Survey research of companies, which the NBP conducts itself, unequivocally indicates that the most important barriers to development for companies are rising or too high prices for supplies. This includes energy primarily, as well as high wage costs – he added.

17:08

Hołownia:

If Poland Utilizes Its Potential, It Can Become a Supra-Regional Power

– This is an opportunity for us today to build the stability of the state […] to allow this state, all of us, the entire community, to safely navigate this bend – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– Now is a special time, a time of a bend. […] Once we navigate this bend, believe me, with our potential, there is a long straight ahead. A long straight on which we will be able to accelerate, because Poland's position today is such that if it only utilizes this potential and does not bleed itself dry in some idiotic skirmishes, it will be able to become a supra-regional power, it will be able to become one of the pillars of Europe without any doubt – he continued.

17:13

Hołownia on the EU Lawmaking Process:

It Must Be Reformed.

– 27 countries must convene, 27 countries must decide whether they will apply the blocking minority or the qualified majority, the double legislative process, because we have the European Council, we have the European Parliament, we have the European Commission, and they all participate in the lawmaking process. This must be reformed – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– So we have to think about how to make this mechanism work differently. But this will not happen, even if I become president, in the next term of that president, the Polish president, I don't know if not even in the one after that. This conversation must begin – he continued.

17:17

Hołownia on Orban:

Saboteur, agent, he will block everything that doesn’t suit Putin.

– Moreover, we have a saboteur and Putin’s agent on board in this 27 [EU countries], namely Orban, who will block everything that doesn’t suit Putin, to put it quite plainly – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

17:22

Hołownia:

I have a pragmatic approach to the EU, but in our position, one cannot be in the middle. We will not be Switzerland.

– I genuinely have a pragmatic approach to the European Union, but I am also deeply convinced that in our geopolitical situation, there is no vacuum. There is no vacuum between Germany and Russia; we have experienced this throughout our history and know well that you are either in the East or in the West. So I choose for us to be in the West – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– Switzerland can afford to be neutral […]. In our position, one cannot be in the middle; it's impossible, we will not be Switzerland. We must register ourselves either here or there. If we don't register ourselves to the West, the East will come and register us to itself – he continued.

17:29

– Morawiecki publishes video:

These are the consequences of the KO government’s ‘rearming’ of the army

In 2023, the PiS government signed an agreement for the delivery of over a thousand Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles, produced at the Stalowa Wola steelworks. And what are the current rulers doing? They want to order only, and pay attention, 116 units. The contract is to be for 4 years. This means that less than 30 Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles will be delivered to the army annually. At this rate, delivering a thousand units will take over 30 years. If this is how the combat and operational capabilities of the Polish Army are to be increased, then I am genuinely terrified – says Mateusz Morawiecki in a recording published on social media.

Hołownia:

We'll Raise the Tax-Free Amount When Konfederacja Finds PLN 50 Billion in the Budget and Tells Us What to Cut

– Konfederacja's "5," do you remember Konfederacja's "5"? Poland without Jews, without gays, without taxes. So maybe let's stop "without taxes." If there are no taxes in Poland, who will pay for your medical treatment? Who will pay for your studies? Who will pay for your parents' treatment if they end up in the hospital? Please tell me, who will pay for that? – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– When Przemysław Wipler comes onto the stage and says, "Why did you promise to double the tax-free amount and you didn't do it," I have a simple question for him, because you were supposed to come from Konfederacja to meetings and ask me when the tax-free amount will be increased [...] then, when you find 50 billion zlotys in the budget and tell us what to cut to increase this tax-free amount – he continued.

– Maybe we should eliminate 800+, go out and tell people, 70 billion zlotys. Or perhaps the 13th and 14th pensions [should be eliminated], have the courage to go out and tell pensioners that this 30 billion zlotys will no longer reach them. Or maybe we need to take these 50 billion from the 170 billion that we spend on pensions altogether – he went on to say.

Hołownia on Mentzen’s Plans:

Political Pestilence Paranoia.

– We don’t need a president in shorts today, a president from TikTok, a president who will pop into some city, recite for 20 minutes what he was told, and then fly to the next one, chasing popularity, not to solve the problems of Poles, but to solve some of his own ambitious problem – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– This is a model of leadership [...] that I do not accept, which I consider parasitic on Poland’s difficult situation today, which I consider to be playing in unison with what the Kremlin wants for Poland today – he continued.

– This is a danger, and Mentzen’s candidate’s vision of vetoing all bills until the government does as he wants is political paranoia. It is not leadership, it is the paranoia of a political pestilence – he went on to say.

17:41

Trzaskowski:

We Have a Historic Opportunity to Be a Leader for All of Europe

– The world is a strange place. When we look around us, there are certainly reasons for concern. But I want to reassure you, because we are safe and we truly have a historic opportunity to be a leader for all of Europe – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Opole.

17:43

Hołownia:

I'm Taking More Heat from PO Today Than from PiS. Read What 'Silni Razem' Are Writing

– I'm actually taking more of a beating from Civic Platform today than from PiS. You're definitely watching Twitter, you're seeing the news, so who is the biggest punching bag on that side? Isn't it PiS that's hammering me? Read what 'Silni Razem' are writing on Twitter – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– I'm not bothered by it, of course […] but don't tell me any stories about [the Third Way] being […] Donald Tusk's highway or a highway towards Donald Tusk – he continued.

17:44

Trzaskowski:

Not so long ago, Poland was often a bystander. Today, it's a leading actor

– I am deeply convinced that if we do not waste this opportunity, we will be safe and will have an influence on what happens in Europe and the world. We have never been in such a situation in history as we are today, because we have never had such a strong army [...], we have never had so much say in the EU, we have never had so much say in the world either. And we have never been so relatively wealthy, compared to other countries – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Opole.

– Not so long ago, when the most important decisions regarding security were being made, Poland was often a bystander. Today, Poland is a leading actor, influencing what happens, and a true leader of the EU – he continued.

17:54

Hołownia on Religion Classes:

I disagree with Minister Nowacka, I agree with the Episcopate.

"– I have seen countries and been in them where Catholicism is persecuted. Where for possessing a Bible, you go to prison for many years, or you get shot in the head. So, to talk in Poland, where there's a church on every second corner […] to talk about the Church being persecuted in Poland, that is an insult to those who truly suffer today because of their faith – said Szymon Hołownia in Cieszyn.

– Regarding religion classes […] I think the solution of combining classes is absurd. And I believe we should withdraw from it. […] How can you combine fourth-graders with eighth-graders, or even sixth-graders with seventh-graders, when their development, their perception, works completely differently – he continued.

– I believe that the Episcopate […] is an organization that should thoroughly reform itself, and beforehand, in sackcloth and ashes, apologize for all its mistakes […] but they had a good proposal […] when it comes to religion classes. Yes, in my opinion, religion or ethics should be compulsory and included in the average. Why? Because […] there must be some logic of values that school teaches, any logic, whether it's Christian or entirely secular – he went on to say.

– Here I disagree with Minister Nowacka, and I agree with the Polish Episcopate, and if I am president, I will also present such a stance – he added.

17:56

Trzaskowski:

I'm Surprised PiS Politicians Can Vote Against a Resolution to Enhance Our Security

– I am truly surprised that at a time when a resolution aimed at strengthening our security is being voted on in the European Union, in the European Parliament, a resolution that speaks to what we greatly desired: that the Eastern Shield is in fact a European program, that PiS politicians are able to vote against such a resolution – Rafał Trzaskowski said in Opole.

I am surprised that they are able to attack those today who speak clearly about security and try to differentiate themselves at all costs – he continued.

18:07

Trzaskowski on the essence of the EP resolution:

After all, this is what our American allies are appealing for.

– Right now, it is truly not the time to constantly disagree. After all, this is an appeal from our American allies for Europe to take on greater responsibility concerning security. This was the essence of the resolution, and for the EU to take security responsibility into its own hands. This is, after all, our priority, which we all understand – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Opole.

18:37

Trzaskowski:

In Difficult Times, We Need Unity and Cooperation Between the President and the Government

– In these difficult times, I am deeply convinced that we need unity and cooperation between the president and the government. We truly do not need any top-level war here. And today we see what happens when virtually every action of our prime minister is contested by the other political side, even though President Andrzej Duda manages to speak with a single voice – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Opole.

18:52

Tusk Addresses Opposition Politicians:

This is a Moment of True Test for Your Patriotism.

I expect full support for the East Shield program from all Polish politicians, including those from the opposition. This is a moment of true test for your patriotism – Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media.

Nawrocki's New Video Delivers a Security Message:

We Must Be the Largest NATO Army in the EU.

The most important prerogative of the President of the Republic of Poland is security. To be secure, we must develop. Poland must be strong, and we must all be aware of this. We must be the largest NATO army in the EU. We must restore normal electricity prices, and I will do that. To be secure, we must be food-secure. I will be the guardian of Polish farms. Poland is a great matter, long live Poland – says Karol Nawrocki in a new clip published on social media.

20:01

Domański:

Tusk Convinced European Partners That Shield Europe is a Priority Project for the Security of All of Europe

Donald Tusk has convinced Europe, he has convinced our European partners that Shield Europe is an absolutely priority project for the security not only of Poland, but of all of Europe. And for this project we need means, funds, and yesterday's resolution, the EP's resolution, was a very important political step precisely in this direction – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

20:03

Domański:

A European Awakening is Needed, and It's Happening

A European awakening is needed, and it's happening. At this moment, a European awakening is taking place regarding defense spending and taking greater responsibility for our common European security – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

20:06

Domański on the Eastern Shield:

I would like the entire project to be financed by European funds

I would like the entire project [Eastern Shield] to be financed by European funds, but of course, the Polish budget is also ready to finance further stages of this large, important project – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

20:07

Domański:

No Ambassador from Any Country Will Dictate Our Tax Policies

At the Ministry of Finance, as I have said before, we are not currently working on such a [digital] tax. Secondly, no ambassador from any country will dictate to us what taxes we introduce or what we potentially abolish. These are decisions for the Polish government – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

20:10

Morawiecki:

EU Parliament Vote Clearly Showed Who Stands with Sovereign Poland

– The "White Paper on the Future of European Defence", adopted by the European Parliament – unfortunately, with the votes of Polish MEPs from Civic Platform and The Left as well – is a document that is as naive as it is dangerous. […] These solutions directly infringe upon the freedom and independence of member states. […] The vote in the European Parliament clearly showed who stands with sovereign Poland, and who wishes to transfer powers in defence matters to Brussels – wrote Mateusz Morawiecki on the X portal.

– The so-called "White Paper" contains provisions that de facto aim at renouncing responsibility for our security – the former Prime Minister continued.

As an example, he pointed to two of its points (10 and 66), which, in his opinion, prove that "future defence decisions, instead of being in the hands of member states, would be centralised at the EU level", and "Poland – against its will – could be outvoted, for instance, on the shape of its own army or the scope of national armament."

The former head of government concluded: – The message is simple – Poland's security, including issues of the military and our borders, cannot depend on politicians in European institutions. I have always stood and will always stand guard over our right to self-determination. It is Poles – and no one else – who should decide on matters crucial to the existence of the state – today and in the future!

20:11

Domański:

Discussions on New Taxes, Including Digital Tax, May Open Up

Within the framework of these negotiations, it was agreed that digital taxes would not be introduced as long as the negotiations are ongoing. However, the current stance of the American administration, for instance, suggests that these negotiations may conclude, and then the space for discussions on new taxes, including a digital tax, will be open – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

20:17

Domański on raising the tax-free allowance:

The plan to fulfill this promise is still current.

This plan [regarding the increase in the tax-free allowance] will be presented to the Prime Minister. We have several macroeconomic variables that we are currently observing, primarily a clear acceleration of economic recovery, and more and more funds are flowing into Poland from the KPO, which will also drive economic growth this year – stated Andrzej Domański on TVP Info.

This plan to increase the tax-free allowance, to fulfill this promise, it is, as it were, still current. We are working on it so that it can be implemented as quickly as possible, but I cannot give a date at the moment – the Minister of Finance continued.

Deputy Minister of State Assets Resigns – Kosiniak Confirms

Following a conversation with me, Deputy Minister of State Assets Zbigniew Ziejewski decided to resign from his position – informed Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on social media.

20:32

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on Putin’s Goals:

A Truce is Not in His Interest, Nor What He Wants.

A truce is not what Putin wants, nor what is in his interest. Of course, he will never say “I want war,” he will call everything peace and a path to peace, only according to Putin, the path to peace leads through war. A war that he started and a war that he wants to continue. The goal remains the same: full control over Ukraine – stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

If this is one empire, if Lukashenka, by appearing at this conference, probably had no choice, I don't want to defend him because he is a dictator, but it shows that he acts as a single armed wing. So, if Belarus is needed to attack from its territory, it will absolutely happen – she continued.

20:33

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz:

Russia Respects Only the Language of Force, Perceiving the Will to Talk as Weakness

If someone shows a willingness to talk, Russians interpret it as weakness, and because the Americans showed such a willingness to talk, Russians are demonstrating that they will not budge an inch. Incidentally, such a statement was also made by Putin a few days earlier, that he would not budge an inch, would not yield anything, because righteousness, peace, is on his side; after all, he has done nothing else for three years but strive for lasting peace – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in Polsat News.

As of today, unfortunately, Russia respects only the language of force, and if one does not possess this force, Russians perceive any attempt at peaceful negotiations as weakness and strive to gain even more – she added.

20:34

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz:

President Trump is Capable of Unpredictable Actions

We know about President Trump that he is capable of radical, unpredictable actions. Sometimes they can be beneficial from the perspective of Europe, of Poland's raison d'état. Sometimes they can be difficult for us, but he is certainly capable of acting sharply, distinctly, radically – stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in Polsat News.

20:35

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on Hungary's Stance Towards the War in Ukraine:

They Behave Like a Russian Troll in the EU

Unfortunately, Hungary is behaving like a Russian troll in the European Union, and this has not been happening for just a day. In all dimensions, in many cases they have already tried to contest, to veto sanctions, including economic ones, because Hungary is hugely dependent on the EU economy after all. Therefore, it was possible to exert pressure and somehow influence Hungary to withdraw its veto. Perhaps it will be possible to do so again now – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in Polsat News.

20:36

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on Poland Joining the Nuclear Sharing Program:

It is certainly worth considering.

A nuclear umbrella over Poland, whether from the American side or from NATO, I think the NATO dimension is particularly interesting for us. It is certainly worth considering, but these are super difficult, very subtle matters, and negotiations should probably not start with intelligence reports and public declarations, but internally. When it is somehow possible to materialize, then inform the public about it – stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in Polsat News.
