Tuesday's Political Agenda: First New Year's Government Session, Nawrocki in Gostynin, Pegasus Committee Hearings

At 9:00 AM, PiS-backed Karol Nawrocki will visit the family company TARTAK HALAMA, a producer of wooden houses, in Gostynin.

From 10:00 AM, the Pegasus investigative committee will be hearing – partly in closed sessions – from CBA officers.

At 1:00 PM, the first New Year's government session will commence. The agenda includes a draft amendment to the act on biocomponents and biofuels, a draft amendment to the act on the preparation and implementation of investments in nuclear energy facilities and accompanying investments, as well as a draft resolution on the adoption of "Directions for the Development of Foreign Expansion."

08:32

Nowacka on subsidies:

PiS is making a fuss about receiving just punishment.

The Minister of Finance has announced that, of course, he must also very seriously analyze the legal opinions, but as a government, we believe what the Prime Minister wrote: the money does not belong to PiS, because let's recall, in the election campaign, and every decent person, regardless of which side of the political scene they are on and who they voted for, knows how public money was squandered during the 2023 election campaign – stated Barbara Nowacka in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Radio Zet.

Now we have a situation where someone, namely PiS, who behaved absolutely immorally and abused public funds to finance their campaign, is making a fuss about receiving just punishment. Morally, they also absolutely know they should not receive this money – the head of the Ministry of National Education continued.

08:33

Hołownia on Possible Presidential Election Dates:

I Still Want to Consult with Chairman Marciniak.

– I will announce this decision on Wednesday; I still want to consult today and tomorrow with Chairman Marciniak and the National Election Bureau – said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Tomasz Terlikowski on RMF FM’s “Morning Conversation,” when asked about the date of the presidential elections.

– And May 25th, it is obvious that no one will hold elections during the May holidays, because that would be completely absurd and contrary to democracy […] I want to discuss this once more with Chairman Marciniak, I will announce the decision to you tomorrow, and ultimately I will call for these elections next Wednesday – he continued, responding to the suggestion that May 4th, 11th, and 18th are options.

08:35

Nowacka Announces Ministry of Education Report on Czarnek

We at the Ministry of Education are currently preparing a comprehensive report summarizing Minister Czarnek's activities. He specifically changed the rules for awarding funds in an election year, without even consulting experts, to disburse what some might consider small subsidies, here a million, there several hundred thousand, for selected educational investments. Nearly 20% of these funds went to the Lublin region, the very area where Mr. Czarnek is running for office – stated Barbara Nowacka on Radio Zet.

08:42

Hołownia:

The Finance Minister Should Primarily Turn to the National Electoral Commission for Guidance on His Actions

– The finance minister should primarily turn to the National Electoral Commission (PKW) to clarify what he is supposed to do, because he is the executor of the PKW's decisions – said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

– The finance minister is currently in a situation where if he disburses the money [to PiS], someone could claim he faces criminal liability for it, and if he doesn't disburse it, someone could claim he faces criminal liability for that too – he continued.

– This is a complete mess [...] we want to sort this out. I have been calling [...] for six months for a law on the Supreme Court – he added.

08:49

"Tusk and Kaczyński’s Proxy Candidates." Hołownia on Trzaskowski, Nawrocki, and a "Sick War"

– For 20 years, a sick war has been raging in Poland, paralyzing us. And the next installment of this war is supposed to be the presidential elections, in which not Donald Tusk and Jarosław Kaczyński will run, but their proxy candidates, those who will actually have to end this war between Donald Tusk and Jarosław Kaczyński – said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

08:54

Hołownia on the Letter Romanowski Allegedly Sent Him:

For Now, It Is Solely a Media Fact.

– The last time I was at work before the weekend, on Friday, I didn’t see that letter [from Marcin Romanowski, in which he renounces money]. For now, that letter is only and solely a media fact. I understand that mail from Hungary […] might take a while, maybe it will arrive today – said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

08:59

Nowacka:

30% of PiS Voters Also Believe One Religion Lesson Is Enough in Education

I know that the Episcopate is preparing for one religion lesson. 30% of PiS voters expect this, studies were conducted, not by us, 30% of PiS voters also believe that one religion lesson is sufficient in the educational process – stated Barbara Nowacka on Radio Zet.

09:02

Will Czarzasty Be Speaker of the Sejm? Hołownia: I Stick to My Agreements

– One serves as Speaker, I perform the function until the MPs elect a new Speaker. […] I will certainly submit myself to a vote at the agreed-upon time – Szymon Hołownia said on RMF FM when asked if, should he not win the presidential election, he would step down as Speaker of the Sejm according to the coalition agreement.

– With the Speaker, it's formally like with the Prime Minister, that there is a constructive vote of no confidence. This means you cannot recall the Speaker […]. You have to appoint a new one. So, a new Speaker must be elected – he continued.

– Perhaps it is so, indeed, because this change is supposed to happen already in November. The agreement is binding, and I stick to my agreements – he went on, when asked about Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who “is at the starting blocks.”

09:08

Hołownia:

Let the President Forgo the Control Chamber, We'll Forgo the Judges' Status for This Moment

– We will argue about the status of judges later and about the status of the Extraordinary Control Chamber later. Today, let the President forgo this Extraordinary Control Chamber, and we will forgo the status, in quotation marks, of course, for this one moment, which is not about justice, but about confirming the validity of the presidential elections, the status of judges – said Szymon Hołownia on RMF FM.

– Let's give way, let's do it, and then pass the law. Let both sides compromise – he continued.

09:20

Priest's Opinion on Abortion? Hołownia: No Need, I Have a Formed View

– No, because there's no need, because I have a formed view. I know what I think about abortion – said Szymon Hołownia in RMF FM, when asked if, as president, he would seek a priest's opinion, for example, on the issue of abortion.

– I hope that it [the referendum] will take place […] now what needs to be passed in the Sejm, that is, the Third Way's bill, the decriminalization bill after amendments. […] I have spoken with the committee, unofficially they say they want these bills to come out of the committee in January. […] I regularly discuss with them [PSL politicians] also about this, it seems to me that they will [vote in favor] – he continued.

– A referendum also needs to be held […] perhaps when there is a new president, or perhaps it would still be possible to collect signatures now […] I recall when the Left once collected, and not so long ago, signatures for an abortion referendum, which they criticize today – he went on to say.

– I also believe that we should hold referendums at least once a year […] once a year, a referendum day – he added.

09:21

Szydło:

Neither Nawrocki nor PiS Politicians Allow Themselves to Consider Poland Leaving the EU

– Donald Tusk is using his old method of scaring and inventing nonsense. There is absolutely no thought, not only from Karol Nawrocki, who is the candidate we support, but above all among PiS politicians, that Poland would leave the EU – said Beata Szydło in an interview with Grzegorz Osiecki on "Sygnały dnia" PR1.

– Quite the opposite – we realize that Poland's membership in the EU is currently a matter of our security and our development. The only thing is that the EU has lost its way and these changes must occur – she pointed out.

09:33

Szydło on Changes to the Green Deal:

For Now, These Are Just Tusk’s Announcements.

– The government, and primarily the Prime Minister, declares that the Green Deal is a bad solution and needs to be changed, but for now, these are just announcements, also dictated by the fact that the election campaign will officially begin in Poland very soon – said Beata Szydło in “Sygnały dnia” PR1.

– For now, it ends with declarations. Action from the government – especially now, because of the upcoming presidency – is very much needed and necessary. And whether these concrete actions will be taken – time will tell – she continued.

09:37

Szydło on Tusk:

He Should Tweet Less and Work More.

– The election campaign is approaching, so Donald Tusk will be charming voters today and saying that he rejects many things, that he is against them. The only thing is that the Prime Minister shouldn't stop at tweets and at uttering such bombastic and even very bold statements. The Prime Minister should tweet less and focus more on work – said Beata Szydło in “Sygnały dnia” on PR1.

09:37

Bielan:

I Don't Recall a Polish Prime Minister Having Such Bad Relations with the US President Since the Fall of Communism

More than that, I don't recall a Polish prime minister since the fall of communism, since 1989, having such bad relations with the American president, because even when post-communists were in power, Leszek Miller, Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz, or Józef Oleksy, as it was often said, they were 'retrained' to the American side. We remember Miller's trips to Washington – stated Adam Bielan on TV Republika.

09:42

Bielan Suggests Duda’s Visit to Trump:

I Don’t Know the Details.

Victor Orban [was at President Trump’s], a few days ago the current head of European conservatives, Prime Minister Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, was there. The Polish Prime Minister will not be there. I believe President Duda will be there soon. I don’t know the details of this visit, but that’s my prediction – stated Adam Bielan on TV Republika.

We know that President Duda’s term ends in August, and it will be up to Poles to decide whether to continue his line of building the best possible relations with the USA, and these relations are absolutely fundamental for our security, or to opt for Donald Tusk’s candidate, i.e. Rafał Trzaskowski – he continued.

09:47

Szydło on Relations with Kaczyński:

I've Closed This Chapter, There Were No Misunderstandings.

– I think the conflict or misunderstandings were more of a media construct. I have closed this matter; I have spoken about it several times. There were no misunderstandings – said Beata Szydło on "Sygnały dnia" (Signals of the Day) on PR1, when asked about her relationship with Jarosław Kaczyński.

09:58

Nawrocki:

I Will Not Agree to the Privatization of State Forests

– As the future president of the Republic of Poland, I will never agree to changing the structure of the State Forests […] and I will also not agree to any tendencies aiming at privatizing the State Forests – said Karol Nawrocki at a press conference.

– When we look today at certain moves around the State Forests institution and the postulates that also appear in the public space, we see a tendency leading to the privatization of the State Forests, and as the future president of the Republic of Poland, I will not agree to that – he continued.

10:03

Nawrocki on Domański and the PWE Resolution:

I Don't Know What's Causing the Delay. It Should Be a formality.

– If we live in a state of law, in a law-abiding state, then Minister Domański, quoting Minister Domański himself, is merely an individual who should sign the decision of the National Election Commission. If we live in a law-abiding Poland, in a Poland of law, then the Minister of Finance should implement the resolution of the National Election Commission – stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference.

– I don't know what's causing this delay; there was the holiday and New Year's period, but I believe we are all aware that, at least as it should be if we live in a state of law, this is a formality, and the minister should sign the resolution of the National Election Commission – he continued.

10:06

Bielan:

Presidential Elections Are Always an Assessment of the Current Government

Presidential elections are always an assessment of the current government. Referring to American politics, they are similar to midterms, meaning elections held in the middle of the US President's term – stated Adam Bielan on TV Republika.

10:15

Nawrocki:

Professor Dudek's Compliment Came as a Pleasant Surprise

– First and foremost, the compliment from Professor Dudek was a very pleasant surprise. I am indeed a determined individual when it comes to the Polish state, Poland, the fate of Poland and Poles, and this determination is evident in my work at the Second World War Museum and the Institute of National Remembrance – Karol Nawrocki said at a press conference.

– Professor Dudek, on the other hand, was the reviewer of my doctoral thesis […] he rated the doctoral thesis well. I have met him four or five times during official events, so I am pleased that in such a short period he has managed to realize that I am a determined person in fulfilling my tasks within institutions – he continued.

– Regarding why Professor Dudek decided to bring up this topic at this particular moment […] Professor Dudek's doctoral student, who received a poor evaluation from his superiors, a doctoral student who was preparing his book with funds from the Institute of National Remembrance, published that book at another institution at the suggestion of Professor Dudek – he went on to say.

– This was very poorly assessed by the direct supervisor of this doctoral student. Professor Dudek called me and asked me to consider a penalty for this employee. I considered it and asked that this employee nevertheless remain at the Institute of National Remembrance. The direct supervisor wanted to punish him in a slightly different way, keeping him at the Institute of National Remembrance, but he did not agree to this, and Professor Dudek decided to share his thoughts on my person in this, albeit somewhat hidden, manner – he added.

– I am a very safe, very gentle, and very determined person when it comes to carrying out my tasks – he emphasized.

10:18

Paprocka:

I Don't Recall Three Days of Discussion About Tusk's Absence During November 11th Ceremonies

– There was no contact from the organizers [of the gala inaugurating the Polish presidency]: neither from the Prime Minister's Chancellery nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this matter, which indicated that, perhaps for the organizers themselves, it wasn't a particularly important event – said Małgorzata Paprocka in an interview with Renata Grochal on the PR3 program “Bez uników” (No Evasions).

– Looking at it with a cool head: I don't recall such a topic and such prolonged discussion, nor outrage from the journalistic community, when the Prime Minister, for example, did not appear at the most important state holidays, such as November 11th – she stated.

– I don't remember us discussing why the Prime Minister wasn't present when, for instance, a wreath from the nation is laid jointly by all representatives of the authorities. […] I don't recall us dissecting this topic for three days – she added.

10:25

Paprocka:

The President is not someone who gets offended

– The President has been in office for over nine years and is truly not someone who gets offended. However, he is a politician who asks questions about what will be realized during this presidency and why there is no summit in Warsaw – said Małgorzata Paprocka in the program „Bez uników” on PR3.

10:29

Bosak:

The Presidency's Program is Sociologically Polished for the Presidential Campaign

This could be a political tool, but it doesn't have to be. Because the European bureaucracy is well-tuned, and whoever holds the presidency can add something of their own, but if they add nothing of their own, then everything will simply proceed as planned. And it seems to me that we are currently in a situation where the government, despite propaganda, is adding nothing of its own to the EU's action program – stated Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

I infer this from the fact that the alleged program of the Polish presidency is simply a collection of generalities. It is evident that it is sociologically polished for the ongoing presidential campaign in Poland, meaning the word "security" is repeated in various grammatical cases, while there are no proposals regarding the EU's main policy dilemmas – he continued.

10:32

Bosak:

So-called Legal Authorities Have Completely Lost Their Way

I believe that these so-called legal authorities have completely lost their way, twisting things around, and I appeal for them to stop twisting things around and to start understanding the rule of law in the way it is traditionally understood. That is, to adhere to the current laws, to the Constitution, for better or worse. This may not be in the interest of Civic Platform or Donald Tusk's government, but they have to adhere to the law – stated Krzysztof Bosak on Radio Plus.

10:32

Paprocka Questioned About Duda’s Invitation to Trump’s Inauguration:

There’s a Lot of Fake News About This.

– There is no such custom at all. For many, many decades, representatives or heads of other states have not been invited to presidential inaugurations [in the USA] – said Małgorzata Paprocka in the program “Bez uników” (No Evasion) on PR3.

– There is a lot of fake news about this. There is no formal invitation like that at all [for Andrzej Duda], there is no such custom – she indicated.

10:50

Paprocka:

Poles Deserve an Answer as to Why the Prime Minister is Resigning from Hosting the European Council Summit

– Which country holding the presidency has ever resigned from hosting a summit in its own capital or another important location for it? Do we have nothing to be proud of? Do we not want to show how Poland has changed over 13 years? – said Małgorzata Paprocka in the program “Bez uników” (No Evasions) on PR3.

– Please forgive me, but these absurd explanations that there will be traffic jams in Warsaw? They insult the intelligence of Poles […]. I would also very much like to know the Prime Minister’s motivation for making such a decision – she continued.

As she emphasized: – This is not just a question from the President’s side, but I think that above all, Poles deserve an answer as to why the Prime Minister, for whom European affairs seemed important, is himself deciding to lower Poland’s value on the international stage.

– It is an absurd decision, completely incomprehensible, and I hope it is still possible to change – she added.

11:30

Bosak:

Apparently, No One from the European Commission Was Present at the Inauguration of the Polish Presidency

For me, the most significant aspect was the absence of anyone from the European Commission. Apparently, no one from the EC was there. I interpret this as an unimportant event from the perspective of European policy – stated Krzysztof Bosak on Radio Plus.

11:38

Siekierski Publishes Farmer Meeting Schedule:

I Dedicate This to Everyone Who Repeats That There Are No Talks.

Minister of Agriculture Czesław Siekierski published a schedule of meetings with farmers for the coming days on X. The discussions are to concern, among others, the EU-Mercosur agreement (January 8), European agricultural policy (January 9), and the chain law and import of agri-food products from Ukraine (January 15).

"I dedicate this January monthly plan to everyone who stubbornly repeats that there are no talks with farmers. Well, there are. And not just this one month," Czesław Siekierski summarized.

12:04

"Reducing Poland to Just a Few Largest Cities." Hołownia Points Out a "Great Danger"

– I wanted to stand here today with MP Oliwkowska, with our activists from Poland 2050, to talk about [...] a certain great danger that I see in Poland today and about how we can counteract it. This danger is called reducing Poland to just a few largest cities, reducing Poland to 5-7 largest metropolises, and in reality, condemning many Polish cities, which are struggling with very serious challenges today, to a downgrade, to a weakening of their value and position – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in Kalisz.

– These are cities like Kalisz, which is losing residents. Young people are leaving here; they don't have the opportunity to build a life for themselves in the way they would like. Not because they don't want to live in Kalisz, but for example, because the commute time to places where they could find work, while still living their lives in Kalisz, looks the way it does today – he continued.

12:14

Hołownia:

Investing 15 Billion in High-Speed Rail While Cutting 9 Billion from Regional Lines is a Bad Idea

– On December 31st, the Council of Ministers adopted the multi-year development plan for CPK [Central Transport Hub] along with its accompanying so-called railway spokes. We are still awaiting the horizontal timetable, which I hope will show us some better news. However, regarding what was presented to the Council of Ministers, we, as Poland 2050, through Minister Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, have submitted our remarks. We will consistently voice these concerns – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in Kalisz.

– In our opinion, and in my opinion, it is not a good idea to invest 15 billion zlotys in high-speed rail now, while taking away 9 billion from railway lines that are meant to connect so-called […] sub-regional centers, such as Kalisz – he emphasized.

– These funds should be allocated to both investments today […], one cannot exclude the other – he indicated.

Hołownia on Kalisz's Situation. "A Classic Example of Drawing Lines on Paper"
He continued: – This high-speed rail […], as far as Kalisz is concerned, was discussed. The so-called ninth variant, which would have led to high-speed trains stopping here, […] turns out not to be the preferred choice now. Now, a bypass variant has suddenly appeared, which cuts Kalisz off from high-speed rail. […] Simultaneously, it cuts through the city in places where it shouldn't, where major companies operate, where businesses are developing, where people have single-family homes.

– A classic example of drawing lines on paper, as some planner in Warsaw has imagined it – he commented.

12:30

Hołownia:

I will repeatedly debate this with the Prime Minister

– Prime Minister Tusk speaks today of a "100-minute Poland," which means a 100-minute commute by train to the largest metropolises. I have already said that I will repeatedly debate this with the Prime Minister – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in Kalisz.

– Because yes, we need a 100-minute Poland today, but that means a Poland where, in every voivodeship, from every center, village, from every commune, you will be able to reach the capital of your voivodeship within 100 minutes by public transport – he emphasized.

– Poland is not just Warsaw, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Poznań, or Szczecin. Poland also includes Kalisz, Częstochowa, Konin, Białystok, or Płock – he added.

12:43

A Vision of 'Poland in 100 Minutes': Hołownia Poses Questions to Trzaskowski and Nawrocki

– I hope that one of the themes of the presidential campaign will be a vision for Poland. What kind of Poland do we envision? Will it be a Poland exclusively accessible to the largest metropolises […], or will it also be a Poland that notices Kalisz, Płock, and other cities that are simply waiting for their chance today – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in Kalisz.

– In this regard, I also have a question for my potential rivals. To Rafał Trzaskowski: does he agree with the vision presented today by Prime Minister Donald Tusk? Does he agree with the vision that a 100-minute Poland should be precisely the Poland that quickly gets us to Poznań, Szczecin, or Wrocław? What would he say today to the residents of Kalisz? Would he agree with me that we need high-speed rail here in Kalisz today? – he asked.

– I am directing this question not only to the Civic Coalition candidate. I am also directing it to Karol Nawrocki from PiS. How does he see Poland? Should it be a Poland where we can travel from one major city to another in 100 minutes, or should it be a Poland where everyone who needs to can reach where they need to in 100 minutes? – he continued.

12:55

Hołownia on Romanowski: Let Him Go Seek Livelihood from Whom He Fled To

– Legal analyses have of course been prepared at this moment, which the presidents are already familiarizing themselves with, concerning what we should do with the case of a Member of Parliament who has, in effect, deserted his mandate. If MP Romanowski wishes to fulfill his mandate, we invite him to Wiejska Street – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in Kalisz.

– We don't have an epidemic of any virus here. We have an isolated case of political cowardice. […] If he doesn't come to the Sejm, and he has announced that he won't, then let him go in search of a livelihood from whom he has fled to, that is, the Hungarian government – he stated.

As he announced: – I intend to test all available options to enforce what he has actually said. This is not revenge; he simply stated that he does not intend to fulfill his mandate.

13:04

Sejm Presidium to Address Romanowski's Case. Hołownia Announces Discussion

– The MP [Marcin Romanowski], from what I hear, has resigned from his parliamentary salary, but this document has not yet reached me, […] his parliamentary remuneration. The allowance remains, and the decision on what to do with the funds for running the parliamentary office remains. And this is what we must address today at the meeting of the [Sejm] Presidium – a truly directional decision – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in Kalisz.

As he stated: – Are we going for an amendment to the Act on the Exercise of the Mandate of an MP and Senator, or, for example, are we changing the Rules of Procedure of the Sejm, which would increase […] financial penalties for absence from a session. Currently, physical absence from a session costs an MP 1/30th of their salary for each day of absence.

– Today, we will familiarize ourselves with the legal status, with the analyses from the Legislative Office, but above all from the Office of Expertise and Regulatory Impact Assessment […], and finally the Legal Office of the Sejm. And we will see what we can propose as a solution to this matter – he explained.

13:11

Hołownia Announces "Lex Romanowski" Will Be Processed: "I Won't Push for Super Express Pace"

– On this parliamentary term, we will also see the bill colloquially known as "Lex Romanowski" – meaning that a Member of Parliament, not only one who is already physically deprived of liberty, but against whom a pre-trial detention order has been issued, will lose their remuneration – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in Kalisz.

As he announced: – I will not be pushing for this bill to go through the Sejm at some super express pace. Let it be calmly read in this parliamentary term, and in the next, it will have its second reading. There is no rush here. […] In trying to hold PiS accountable, we cannot behave like PiS, hastily drafting laws at some frenzied pace.

14:57

Sejm to Address "Incidental Law" Project This Week

On Wednesday – the first day of the new year session – the Sejm will consider, as part of its first reading, a draft of the so-called "incidental law" submitted by Poland 2050. In practice, this concerns the Supreme Court resolving matters related to this year's presidential election.

According to the proposal from Szymon Hołownia's party, the validity of the elections would be adjudicated by three chambers of the Supreme Court – Criminal, Civil, and Labor. According to the current schedule, the deputies will address this project on Wednesday starting at 12:30 PM.

16:22

Over PLN 60 Billion Allocated for Polish Nuclear Power Plant Construction; Government Approves Draft Law

"The government has adopted, among other things, a draft law that provides for the allocation of funds for the construction project of Poland's first nuclear power plant. Between 2025 and 2030, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe will receive PLN 60.2 billion to support this strategic energy investment. This is a key element from an investment perspective. The nuclear power plant will be built in Pomerania” – informed the Government Information Centre (CIR).

As indicated by CIR, a draft law on biocomponents and liquid biofuels has also been adopted.

17:27

Hołownia Speaks on the Romanowski Case:

The Matter is Clear.

The matter with MP Romanowski is clear. MP Romanowski has fled the country, he remains an MP, no one has deprived him of his mandate, nor has he relinquished it himself, but he has decided, and announced it publicly, that he will not perform his MP mandate within the territory of the Republic of Poland in any way. In view of the above, because such is his declaration, we in the Sejm Presidium, I as the Marshal, simply must draw consequences from the decision he has made – stated Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

These consequences are very simple. MP Romanowski will not receive his MP's diet (allowance), for the reason that the Act on the Performance of the MP and Senator Mandate clearly states that the diet consists of funds related to the performance of the mandate within the country. In view of the above, the diet is not due. His salary is not due, because MP Romanowski has renounced it, and there remains the third component of money, namely the lump sum for maintaining the MP's office, and here the MP will receive it until the Sejm passes this very amendment to the Act – he continued.

17:28

Hołownia on the Necessity of Filling the Legal Gap:

Romanowski is the first, but what if not the last?

Thanks to MP Romanowski, we are facing a new situation. The court temporarily detained him, but he evaded arrest, and we must fill this legal gap today, because MP Romanowski is the first, but what if not the last? The Sejm cannot be defenseless in such a situation – stated Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

17:50

"This is what PiS Elites’ Patriotism Looks Like": PO Publishes Video About Romanowski

– The Fund for Assistance to the Imprisoned has become a money-making machine in Romanowski’s hands for Ziobro’s proteges and their families. Marcin Romanowski faces over a dozen charges, faces up to 25 years in prison, is wanted by an arrest warrant, and a European arrest warrant has been issued for him. He fled to Hungary, where an ally of Putin granted him political asylum – says the narrator in the PO spot.

– Is this how innocent people behave? He first stole from you, and then betrayed you? This is what PiS elites’ patriotism looks like – he continues.

18:04

Morawiecki:

Trzaskowski is implementing leftist propaganda that claims children can afford sex changes

If this overwhelming leftist propaganda, the kind that says a child can afford a sex change, is implemented, as Trzaskowski in Warsaw was the first to start implementing it, and if it continues to be implemented, then all of us parents, who have children, will have to subsequently correct all these madnesses and leftist idiocies at home – stated Mateusz Morawiecki during a Q&A.

18:06

Morawiecki:

I Promise a Case of Wine to Anyone Who Finds My Signature on the Green Deal

I promise a case of good, I don't know, Lower Silesian, Polish, white wine, Lubuskie, Polish wine, to anyone who finds my signature on the Green Deal. There are many wonderful Polish vineyards, also in Podkarpacie and Małopolska, in other parts of Poland. I'll buy it blindly for anyone who shows such a signature from my government, my signature – stated Mateusz Morawiecki during a Q&A session.

18:33

What will PiS do if the Finance Minister doesn't disburse funds? Fogiel: A report to the prosecutor's office

– We will use the legally available options for us [...] a report to the prosecutor's office, although of course we have many doubts about the apolitical nature of today's Bodnar prosecutor's office – said Radosław Fogiel in the "Afternoon conversation" on RMF FM, when asked what PiS would do if the Finance Minister did not disburse funds to the party.

– Of course, the point is also to leave a certain trace in the documents, so that when the rule of law in Poland is actually restored, appropriate legal and judicial procedures can be activated – he continued.

– It will most likely [...] from what I hear from colleagues, from what our spokesperson wrote, it will be a supplement to the previous report from December – he went on to say.

18:40

Fogiel on Domański:

He Should Decide Whether He Fears Tusk More or the Consequences of Breaking the Law.

– If [the National Electoral Commission] doesn't determine [whether a given chamber is a court] here, then the assumption is that it is a [extraordinary control chamber] court, and let the minister also not determine anything. Let him read the second article or the second paragraph [of the National Electoral Commission's resolution] to himself as a bedtime story, and let him implement the first one – Radosław Fogiel said on RMF FM.

– In his conscience, I think Minister Domański should decide whether he fears Donald Tusk more and will break the law on his political command, or if he fears the consequences that [...] he will one day face in the future if he breaks the law – he continued.

Fogiel:

The Problem is a NATO and EU Member State Sees Grounds to Grant Asylum to a Polish Parliamentarian

– The political problem is that we have a situation today where a NATO member state, a European Union member state, sees grounds to grant political asylum to a Polish parliamentarian – Radosław Fogiel said on RMF FM.

– Hungary is bound by the same conventions on international protection as all other European Union countries […] it does not take much imagination to understand that if a significant portion of ruling politicians threaten another politician […] that they will end up in prison, to acknowledge that someone could truly adopt the viewpoint that they are facing political prosecution – he continued.

Fogiel on the Amendment to the Law on Exercising a Mandate:

If They Want to Rope Themselves In, So Be It.

– In that formula, I doubt it, we haven't discussed it at the club yet – Radosław Fogiel told RMF FM when asked if PiS would support the amendment to the law on exercising the mandate of a member of parliament and senator.

– It's not about money, it's about introducing some kind of legal formula where one doesn't exercise their mandate, meaning on the one hand, they are not a parliamentarian, but they don't lose their mandate, so the next person on the list doesn't take their place, so essentially, the parliamentarian is, I don't know, to use Newspeak, cancelled? – he continued.

– I can imagine […] wielding this type of action, such as temporary arrests, in order to get rid of a dozen or so, several dozen parliamentarians from the Sejm at some point, to, for example, push something through a vote in a situation of losing a parliamentary majority – he went on to say.

– This amendment to the law […] it doesn't mention conviction, it mentions that someone will be arrested […] it clearly states that it applies to individuals, including situations before the [this law] comes into force […]. there have been situations where a member of parliament was subjected to temporary arrest, for example […] Stanisław Gawłowski. He will also be subject to this law – he added.

– There is no time cut-off, therefore, assuming someone's ill will, it can be considered that he will also not perform [his mandate]. I'll go further, if the ruling party wants to rope themselves in, so be it. […] A hypothetical scenario could be, for instance, that the actions currently being carried out by the 13th December coalition bear the hallmarks of […] an attempt to change the state's system. […] They are acting jointly and in agreement, therefore, when the rule of law returns to Poland, who knows if a court won't issue arrest warrants for everyone who was involved in this – he concluded.

Czarzasty on Romanowski:

I’m Fed Up with Constantly Dealing with a Potential Thief and Bandit.

I'm simply fed up with constantly dealing with a potential thief and bandit. That is to say, we are giving this matter an enormous significance, and in reality, it's a person [Marcin Romanowski] who could potentially go to prison, who has potentially stolen and is a bandit – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TVN24’s “Fakty po faktach” (Facts After Facts).

19:38

Czarzasty:

Justice Will Simply Come for Every Potential Bandit

Justice will simply come for every potential bandit. I know it takes a long time, the question is whether to punish these people while breaking the law at the same time? Whether they end up in prison in October or November, or in April – one important thing is clear, and this is what needs to be said to the people, to citizens – they will end up there – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in "Fakty po faktach" on TVN24.

19:43

Czarzasty on Subsidies for PiS:

We Don't Recognize Neo-Judges.

Speaking on behalf of The Left, as one of its leaders, I state that we do not recognize neo-judges. We believe that all decisions in which neo-judges participate are legally flawed. Therefore, we consider all decisions currently being made in the Supreme Court with the involvement of neo-judges to be ineffective and legally flawed – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach."

Consequently, the National Electoral Commission (PKW) cannot act in the way it did, treating these judges as bad in the morning and good in the evening – he continued.

19:46

Czarzasty Against Hołownia's Idea:

Damn it, there's no agreement on this.

I've had enough of this dithering and accepting that what we consider illegal in the morning, the same person simply acts legally in the evening. That is why I am speaking out unequivocally against the Marshal Hołownia's idea regarding the recognition or non-recognition of presidential elections by neo-judges – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in TVN24's "Fakty po faktach" (Facts after Facts).

It cannot be the case that we don't recognize a chamber composed of neo-judges if they decide so, but if these neo-judges vote en banc, meaning in a 96-person composition, then we recognize it. Damn it, there's no agreement on this. Either someone is good, or someone is bad – he continued.

Kotula Rebuffs Claims of Partnership Abuse, Pledges Further Work on Bill:

Absurdal

– These comments [during inter-ministerial consultations] are a natural legislative process. If we were working on a government bill for marital equality today, we would be amending one law. Meanwhile, we are amending nearly 250 laws, and such comments, some more substantive, others less so, are natural – said Katarzyna Kotula in a recording published on X.

– There is an assurance from the ministers, both Minister Siemoniak and Minister Bodnar, of their support for this government bill, and for that I would like to sincerely thank them […]. The accusation that entering into a partnership could lead to some kind of abuse? Absurd. We could make the same accusation against marriages, civil partnerships, or family foundations – she continued.

– The most important news of the day: we are moving forward with this bill – she added.

20:19

Jakubiak:

Unlike Other Candidates, I'm Probably a Known Figure. Everyone Knows Everything.

– On January 25th, we have an electoral convention in Warsaw, and from January 25th, we'll be going full throttle. We're heading out across Poland – Marek Jakubiak stated in an interview with Danuta Holecka on Telewizja Republika.

– Unlike other candidates, I'm probably a known figure. I don't need to prove anything, I don't need to prove who I am, where I come from, where I live, or what I've done. Everyone knows everything – he declared.

– So, I think my campaign is just a matter of reminding people that I exist, that I have unchanging views, that Poland occupies my entire heart, just like my family's, for that matter. In a word, this is Poland – he continued.

20:23

Kierwiński Attacks Nawrocki:

He Has Nothing to Say.

It’s nothing extraordinary [that Nawrocki’s recognition has increased]. Nawrocki will obviously gain voters and recognition among PiS voters, that's natural, and his recognition and support will approach PiS’s polling support, but I don’t think anything more will happen in this regard. Especially since Mr. Nawrocki, he truly has nothing to say and often PiS MPs step in to answer for him because he lacks knowledge on any subject – stated Marcin Kierwiński on the program “Guest of Events” on Polsat News.

The President in Poland will make very serious decisions, so what will a candidate do who has no opinion on any serious topic – he added.

20:25

Kierwiński invites Nawrocki to the dam in Stronie Śląskie:

I'd gladly go with him.

Today Mr. Nawrocki is in Gostynin. Moreover, why did he start talking about flood-prone areas in Gostynin? So I am informing Mr. Nawrocki that in Gostynin, there was a flood in the region, sub-region, 15 years ago. If Mr. Nawrocki wants, I am inviting him all the time, to come and help the people affected, who suffered during the flood, then I invite him. I'd gladly go with him to the dam in Stronie Śląskie to demonstrate to him this monument to the irresponsibility of PiS officials and his PiS buddies – said Marcin Kierwiński in Polsat News.

20:25

Kierwiński on Domański's Decision:

He Will Be Guided by Rule of Law Issues.

I think Minister Domański is analyzing this issue very thoroughly. Contrary to the opinions that are appearing, this is not a political decision, it is a substantive decision, and a substantive one made in very difficult conditions, the mess that PiS has imposed on us, and the PKW resolution has only deepened this mess – stated Marcin Kierwiński on Polsat News.

I am calmly awaiting Minister Domański's decision; I know that he is a man who will be guided primarily by rule of law issues, and this decision will be made precisely from that perspective – he continued.

20:29

Kierwiński:

PKW Opinion is 'One Big Mumble' According to Most Lawyers

We are dealing with a situation of extreme mess and we are dealing with a resolution from the National Electoral Commission (PKW) which, according to the majority of lawyers, legal authorities, is one big mumble. Minister Domański must navigate this situation, but he is a tough guy and he will make a good decision. And I can say for myself that everything is clear in this regard. PiS broke Polish law, used Polish money to conduct an election campaign, and there should be a penalty for that – said Marcin Kierwiński on Polsat News.

20:33

Kierwiński:

Mr. Musk is a businessman, and that's what he should probably focus on

Indeed, Mr. Musk's statements regarding some politicians are unacceptable, to be frank. Mr. Musk is a businessman, and he should probably focus on business – stated Marcin Kierwiński on Polsat News.

I cannot imagine any restrictions on freedom of speech, however, the desire of a significant business, regardless of its country of origin, to influence elections in another country must be named very, very clearly and communicated to voters – he continued.

20:33

Post:

They Made a Fundamental Mistake, Becoming an Appendage of PiS." Kierwiński Responds to Razem Party's "100 Mistakes

I can say that the Razem party has made one mistake, but a fundamental one: they went into the elections as the opposition, and they have become an appendage of PiS. Today, the world is very clearly divided into a pro-democratic coalition that forms this government and people who attack this government, meaning people under the PiS banner. Mr. Zandberg did not want to join this government, now he is positioning himself on the side of hard opposition to this government, which is where PiS is – said Marcin Kierwiński on Polsat News.

20:38

Jakubiak:

Hołownia Won't Announce Elections on May Day Weekend, as Lower Turnout Means a Right-Wing Victory

– We are waiting. Perhaps [Szymon Hołownia] will invalidate these elections, we don't know what he will say – Marek Jakubiak stated on TV Republika.

– But it's already known that it won't be on the May Day weekend for sure, because that would be against democracy – Danuta Holecka commented.

– Well, yes, because of the turnout. Because people would go away for the May Day holiday and then the turnout would be lower, which means the right-wing wins. They are afraid of that – the politician replied.

20:48

Jakubiak on the European Council Summit:

If Morawiecki Were Prime Minister, It Would Be a Grand European Celebration.

– In Warsaw, a good few years ago now, but there was a NATO summit. That's more countries than the EU has. I think Antoni Macierewicz organized it, if I remember correctly. And nobody even noticed that this NATO summit had taken place – Marek Jakubiak stated on TV Republika.

– Szczerba is known for speaking after he's already said something, thinking comes later. However, the truth is that I am outraged by this whole situation. Every six months, some EU country has the honor of presiding over the EU, and Poland, unfortunately, ended up in Tusk's hands. Because if Morawiecki were prime minister, it would undoubtedly have been a grand European celebration and a promotion of Poland as a cheerful, developing, hospitable country – he stated.

20:59

Jakubiak:

If They Don't Recognize the Election Results, I Will Swear Allegiance to My Voters, and Then We Will Enter the Palace

– Someone once asked me at a meeting with residents: 'Mr. Marek, what will you do if they don't recognize these [presidential] elections?' Nothing specific, I will simply announce when I am in front of the Palace and swear allegiance to my voters, not to any Hołownia. And then we will enter the Palace – said Marek Jakubiak on TV Republika.

– This simply needs to end. This madness needs to end. And the police know perfectly well what I am talking about, and the military know perfectly well what I am talking about. Everyone knows everything. It's just that there will need to be a bit of desperation in all of this. We must reclaim our country – he continued.
