At 9:00 AM, a press conference will be held by the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, and Deputy Minister Jan Szyszko, regarding the priorities of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy during Poland's presidency of the EU Council.

At 11:00 AM, a press conference will take place in the Sejm with the chairman of the PiS parliamentary club, Mariusz Błaszczak, and MPs Anna Gembicka and Robert Telus.

At 5:00 PM, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will hold an open meeting with residents in Inowrocław.

At 8:00 PM, the official inauguration of the Polish presidency will be held in Warsaw, featuring speeches by Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President of the European Council Charles Michel.

– I spoke [with Andrzej Domański] and I know he is working on resolving this Gordian knot, which was tied for us first by the Supreme Court, by appointing neo-judges to rule on the PiS report, and then by the National Electoral Commission. I know Minister Domański and I know that the solution he adopts will certainly be legally compliant – said Jan Grabiec in an interview with Agata Adamek on TVN24's "Jeden na Jeden".

– The big question arises in this context mainly about whether it will be consistent with the general sense of justice, because practically no one in Poland disputes that PiS stole public funds for their party campaign, and that the initial decision of the National Electoral Commission, which concerned punishing them for this very fact in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, is a deeply justified decision – he continued.

– I cannot imagine [paying money to PiS]. Let's look at the consequences. After all, any mayor or village head in Poland […] can decide: alright, let's now spend a million on my billboards and spots, where I will be promoted, using gminny [municipal] funds – he went on to say.

– The content of this resolution adopted by the National Electoral Commission (PKW) reads in such a way that it is difficult to consider it a resolution that allows for payouts, because the regulations clearly state: after the Supreme Court's decision, the National Electoral Commission accepts the report, and that's it – said Jan Grabiec on TVN24.

– What the National Electoral Commission did, this entire second paragraph, which questions the first paragraph, makes it so that, literally in accordance with the provisions of law, the PKW has not adopted the resolution in question in the regulations – he continued.

“The Minister of Finance Must Weigh All Options”

– Of course, here I think the Minister of Finance must weigh all options, he must be beyond any suspicion of acting in any biased manner – he went on to say.

– The stories about what happened at the PKW meetings are something incredible, when for the first time in the history of these 30-odd years of democratic Poland, the PKW chairman behaved as if he were a party spokesman, that he started imposing on the PKW members that he would demand a PKW meeting every day and a vote on the acceptance of the report for PiS, until the PKW accepted this report – said Jan Grabiec on TVN24.

– I don't know if he answers phone calls, SMS messages, or written letters [from PiS politicians], but I notice a huge change in the attitude of the PKW chairman, who initially tried to be an arbiter who ensured that the National Electoral Commission acted in accordance with the law, without imposing or forcing members to adopt a certain position – he continued.

– Later, he behaved as if he had adopted the perspective of someone who had messed up and was now trying to change the situation, trying to rectify his conduct, as if he had received a reprimand, been scolded by someone, and was now trying to overdo it, behaving very biasedly – he went on to say.

– All our predictions from 2017 are being confirmed with this type of behavior, where law doesn't matter, a sense of justice doesn't matter, party interest matters, and when this interest somehow clashes with the law, it turns out that judges suddenly defend the party's interest, not justice – said Jan Grabiec on TVN24.

– This is very worrying, but we must put an end to it; this is one of the arguments for the need for this deep reform of the justice system – he continued.

– If there is a resolution from the Supreme Court stating that the control chamber is not a court, and there is a resolution from some composition of the control chamber, then which Supreme Court resolution should the Minister of Finance execute? The Ombudsman points to the one that is favorable to PiS. I do not like this way of understanding the law – said Jan Grabiec on TVN24.

– This resolution [of the three chambers of the Supreme Court from 2020] also binds the Minister of Finance and the entire administration. However, if the Ombudsman begins to be a spokesperson for the interests of wealthy political parties, the ruling parties, and not the interests of all citizens, then I am a bit surprised – he continued.

– I'm missing a bit of the other side here, meaning the feeling that people were robbed, that their money was used in the campaign, that the fairness of the elections was questioned. I don't know if the Ombudsman has analyzed the losses incurred by Poles, taxpayers, and what losses this electoral system in Poland has suffered – he went on to say.

– I think that one way or another, the Minister of Finance will take a stance. I don't know what form that stance will take, but I think it will be a very concrete position on this matter [funds for PiS], within a few days. I believe that without undue delay, as soon as this Christmas and New Year period passes, we can expect a statement from the Minister of Finance – said Jan Grabiec on TVN24.

– This initiative by Marshal Hołownia looks like an attempt to get out of this mess before the presidential elections. There can be various doubts regarding the provisions […] this attempt tries to reconcile fire and water […] personally, it seems to me that this is very difficult – said Jan Grabiec on TVN24, when asked about Szymon Hołownia’s proposal regarding the Supreme Court’s validation of elections.

– On the one hand, we are trying to ensure the validity of these elections, and on the other hand, the status of neo-judges, which is the main source of problems, is not fully regulated – he continued.

– This is the Marshal’s initiative, but of course, there have been discussions on this matter. We are considering the conclusions, meaning what will result from this, the fact itself, so as not to throw the baby out with the bathwater […]. We will look at these solutions, perhaps the law can be somehow clarified – he went on to say.

“The Issue of the Rule of Law is Not a Subject of Political Bargaining”

– Certainly, no political deal can be made here. Most certainly, the issue of the rule of law is not a subject of any political bargaining, where we would agree with the president that we will turn a blind eye to something, that we will treat neo-judges differently – he added.

– Those who accepted political orders within the prosecutor's office, acted against the legal regulations concerning the prosecutor's office, and especially those who notoriously and repeatedly broke the law, should be removed from the prosecutor's office through disciplinary mechanisms and oversight mechanisms; there is no doubt about that – said Jan Grabiec on TVN24.

– I think [the main sin of this government] is the issue that this government has no chosen direction. That is to say, we truly hear about the government's new ideas all the time, which are not being implemented. This government is primarily occupied with internal squabbles. In this sense, we, as the Razem party, for example, when we participated in coalition talks and discussed what a coalition agreement should look like, we said that it must be as detailed as possible in order not to waste time on arguments – stated Marcelina Zawisza in the program "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

– We truly have a government now that reacts to things. We have a Prime Minister who spends a lot of time on Twitter, spends little time in the Sejm, and engages in verbal sparring with PiS instead of working – she added.

– Yes, she said that many times [that she wouldn’t leave Razem], we heard it many times from Magdalena Biejat, that she wouldn’t run, regardless of whether as a candidate of the Razem party or as a candidate of the broader Left. As I understand it, she changed her mind, she has every right to do so, she is no longer a member of our party, she takes responsibility for her decisions. You don’t do things like that to people – Marcelina Zawisza said on Polsat News.

– If the state genuinely took up building apartments, then the apartments for sale that Kowalski or Kowalska simply want to buy would be cheaper. They would be more accessible to them because there would be an alternative; we don’t have an alternative in Poland – stated Marcelina Zawisza on Polsat News.

– There’s no sense in supporting banks and developers; let’s support people, it’s that simple. It works, it results in housing availability, meaning that, for instance, a taxi driver, a florist, a teacher, a nurse will have a choice, a real choice whether they want to buy an apartment or rent one from the state – she continued.

– The decision [about Razem's candidate in the presidential election] will be made by the national council on January 11-12. I think very soon, as a party, we will all be able to make this decision, and we will announce what that decision is soon. It really is a matter of a few days now, I think we will wait this time before making the decision – stated Marcelina Zawisza on Polsat News.

– I will repeat after the Together party: let's vote with hope. That is, let's vote for the candidate who truly corresponds to our values and addresses our needs. Let's not allow ourselves to be forced into this PO-PiS duopoly, because truly, enough is enough. 20 years of quarrels between two gentlemen about what Poland should look like, and in reality, not even Poland, but the patch they occupy with their own people. This is truly completely harmful, for us as Poland from the perspective of development, but also security. Truly, enough – said Marcelina Zawisza on Polsat News.

– If this were a private company, we would consider such statements from a CEO towards a CFO to be mobbing. Because it is not a formal work order, indicating what he is supposed to do, having its basis, but rather it is a form of public pressure and an indication that the minister is expected to meet certain expectations of the prime minister – said Krzysztof Bosak in the program „Bez uników” (No Evasion) on PR3.

– Besides, as far as I heard, Minister Siemoniak and other Civic Platform politicians made similar statements yesterday – he added.

– The Minister of Finance is caught in a vise because he should execute the law, meaning he should disburse these funds [for PiS], and he is under pressure from his boss and his political patrons and colleagues not to do so – said Krzysztof Bosak in the program “Bez uników” on PR3.

– However, it will not be these patrons, meaning it will not be Donald Tusk for his social media posts who will face any legal consequences, but rather Minister Domański might face charges if he does not act in accordance with the law – he stated.

– All sorts of journalistic legal pronouncements by various people with titles or without them will have no significance in court if Minister Domański breaks the law – he added.

– The interests of Polish farmers must be effectively defended. Enough political hypocrisy and unequal market opportunities. I am saying a firm "no" to the agreement between the EU and Mercosur. While the standards that food produced in Poland and across the EU must meet are increasingly stringent, products that meet no standards are being allowed onto the European market – said Rafał Trzaskowski in a recording published on social media.

– This is not fair, it is simply unfair competition. It weakens our agriculture. Food security is fundamental, and only strong, domestic agriculture will ensure it. Fighting for the interests of Polish farmers and blocking harmful trade agreements is a matter of Polish national interest – emphasized the Mayor of Warsaw.

– They are not pessimistic [presidential polls], they are quite good. I guess we've never had better ones, as they are above 10%. When I ran in the presidential elections 5 years ago, the polls before my registration as a candidate were at the level of 1-3%. And the final result was many times better – said Krzysztof Bosak in the program “Bez uników” (Without Evasions) on PR3.

– Let’s wait and see who makes it to the second round. We are fighting for Sławomir Mentzen to enter the second round. If Sławomir Mentzen doesn’t make it, then we will meet and consult and consider. I will not comment on any second-round scenarios at this moment – said Krzysztof Bosak in the program „Bez uników” (No Evasion) on PR3.

– Alternatively, I can say who I do not support […]. I do not support Rafał Trzaskowski. This man is dangerous. Because he associates with globalists – he stated.

As he continued: – Every time Soros’s son comes here, he meets with him, and they have to take a photo. He is introducing all these crazy climate programs, like C40, […], he gives away offices for next to nothing to the same group that permanently blocks roads.

– He throws money at some left-wing or LGBT organizations, he tried to initiate an action to remove crosses from public offices […]. For me, this is a type of ideological fanatic – he assessed.

– You have no idea what the war over the courts is about? Don’t worry, hardly anyone can figure it out anymore. The tribal war between PO and PiS has led to two legal orders. Each side has its judges, its institutions, undermining the decisions of political opponents. Tusk and Kaczyński have created a legal duopoly and are jointly demolishing Poland. One state – two systems, complete chaos. A reset is needed – says the narrator in a clip published by Sławomir Mentzen on social media.

– Let's re-elect the composition of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Tribunal, and the National Council of the Judiciary by a constitutional majority in parliament. Poles want efficient and just courts. A constitutional reset is the only sensible way out of the legal chaos created by PO-PiS – says Mentzen.

– Under Morawiecki's government, inflation was 11.4% in 2023, and 14.4% in 2022. Poland has not seen inflation like this since communism as under PiS – wrote Sławomir Nitras.

– The Law and Justice Parliamentary Club already in mid-November [...] submitted a draft resolution of the Sejm to the Marshal of the Sejm regarding opposition to the agreement with Mercosur countries, an agreement which is nothing other than the introduction of unfair competition into agricultural markets, which is very dangerous for the development of rural Poland, and which threatens Polish farms altogether – said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference.

– Everything must be done to prevent this agreement from coming into effect. This is a task for the Polish government; we expect that the draft resolution submitted by the Law and Justice Parliamentary Club will be adopted at the next Sejm session [...]. The resolution constitutes an obligation for the government of the December 13 coalition to oppose this agreement, so that this agreement does not come into effect – he continued.

– The farmers' protests also concern other matters important for our country, as they also concern exiting the Green Deal [...]. Another demand of the farmers, which we support, is the protection of Polish forests [...]. Another demand put forward by the farmers is the issue of maintaining the embargo on food imports from Ukraine – he went on to say.

– In a fighting democracy, decisions are made by Donald Tusk. And Donald Tusk has already announced the decision [regarding money for PiS] on platform X. Minister Domański is indeed in a dramatic situation, because either way, he faces responsibility. Either Donald Tusk will get angry and dismiss him, or he will be held responsible for an evident violation of the law when Donald Tusk evacuates to Brussels or Berlin – said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference.

– In the Third Polish Republic, the law does not function. The source of law is not the Constitution, nor is it statutes, but Donald Tusk. But a fighting democracy will end just like a people's democracy – he continued.

– Hungary held the presidency of the European Union until the end of last year, so if Donald Tusk decides this way, it shows that he does not adhere to the rules on a European scale either, not just on a nationwide scale – said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference, when asked about the expected absence of a delegation from Hungary at the gala opening Poland’s EU presidency.

– Donald Tusk stated that there would be no EU summit in Poland, why? Because then President Andrzej Duda would be welcoming guests invited to our country, which is also proof of pettiness, not to say proof that a fighting democracy has nothing to do with democracy without adjectives – he continued.

– Poland is ruled by people who act precisely like this, they act in a way that harms the interests of the Republic of Poland and makes our country a laughingstock – he went on to say.

– Three priorities, three decisions that will throw into the bin, firstly, the Migration Pact, secondly, the Green Deal, and thirdly, the agreement with Mercosur. These are three matters that should be carried out during Poland's presidency of the European Union. Will Donald Tusk do it? Of course, he won't – said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference, when asked what the priorities of the Polish presidency in the EU should be.

– I hear criticism of the incidental act concerning the validation of the election of the President of the Republic of Poland, which I proposed, coming from the Left – wrote Szymon Hołownia on social media.

– In this regard, I have two questions: 1. What do you propose in return? 2. Why don’t you want a law that takes electoral matters out of the PiS neo-chamber? – he added.

– Everyone saw that PiS misused tens, hundreds of millions of public money for their election campaign. All Polish women and men saw it. This is an absolute scandal, and I hope consequences will be drawn from it – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference in Warsaw.

– Unfortunately, it is precisely this [legal] dualism, introduced by President Duda and PiS, that causes these kinds of turbulences. I hope this matter will be resolved in an absolutely just and legal manner. As I hear, Minister Domański is working on exactly such solutions – he indicated.

As he continued: – I am not on the team preparing any solutions. This is a team that includes the Minister of Finance and the government. I just trust that we will have a solution that will gain the acceptance of the entire public opinion, because public opinion is absolutely outraged that PiS misused public funds for their election campaign, and in an absolutely unprecedented way.

– The EU presidency presents this as the only and greatest chance to halt, on the one hand, the ecological madness, the Green Deal, which threatens Polish farmers, as we see at this protest and what I hear throughout Poland – stated Karol Nawrocki in an interview with wPolsce24.

– This is not my first meeting with farmers; farmers are concerned about the ecological madness in which Poland finds itself today. On the other hand, we have concerning plans for the Mercosur agreement, under which imports from South America, from Mercosur countries, from Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, from Brazil, may flood the Polish market – he continued.

– All these demands, against which farmers are protesting today in Warsaw, are also my demands, meaning STOP the Green Deal and stop the Mercosur agreement, as well as STOP the influx of agricultural products from Ukraine, if it threatens the interests of Polish farmers – stated Karol Nawrocki in an interview with wPolsce24.

– I don't want to comment on what the National Electoral Commission (PKW) has done, but we all see that this very duality has led to unbelievable chaos. The next president will have to bring about the clarification of this situation. I am fully prepared to do that – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference in Warsaw.

– At the moment, the matter is in the minister's hands. I will neither comment on it in detail, nor will I exert pressure on anyone, because that is not my role. However, I believe that PiS should be punished for financing its election campaign with public funds and for violating the law – he stated.

When asked whether, in his opinion, after the PKW's decision, the money should be paid to PiS or not, he reiterated: – I don't want to pressure the minister. I trust that this decision will, on the one hand, take into account everything we are observing, meaning simply that a penalty is deserved for such conduct, which we have witnessed, by the party [...]. And that this solution will, of course, be in accordance with the law.

– Negotiations have only just concluded, but this [EU-Mercosur] agreement must be accepted by the European Parliament and the member states. I hope a blocking minority will form, meaning a sufficient number of countries to block this agreement, because it is simply not beneficial for our agriculture – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference in Warsaw.

– Currently, we know that Poland and France are definitely against this agreement. If a few more countries join – Austria, Italy – there is a chance that in the Council, where ministers from member states work, this agreement will be blocked and rejected – he continued.

– I would like to say that the mayor of this city, and thus the vice-chairman of Civic Platform, Rafał Trzaskowski, apparently didn't bother to attend a meeting with farmers, which is very terrifying, because here is a candidate for the President of the Republic of Poland, the vice-chairman of Civic Platform, posting a tweet saying he is with Polish farmers – stated Karol Nawrocki in an interview with wPolsce24.

– Perhaps, Mr. Vice-Chairman of Civic Platform, let's end these illusions and deceiving Poles that we are different than we actually are, because today, this is about the interests of Polish farmers – he continued.

– Unfortunately, we have a demographic crisis in Poland. According to data, 37.5 million Polish women and men currently live in our country, but unfortunately, this number is worrying because it is constantly decreasing – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference in Warsaw.

– I have repeatedly said that the state must help, that local government must help. If you talk to Polish women today, unfortunately, this medieval anti-abortion law, introduced by PiS, is one of the causes of the situation we are dealing with today. This is because the most important thing is to provide young Polish women and Polish families with a sense of security – he emphasized.

He went on to discuss the actions Warsaw is taking to increase fertility rates, including the in vitro fertilization refund program (which has resulted in the birth of over 2,000 children) and free places in nurseries.

On November 28, 2024, the National Public Prosecutor's Office received a notification from the Chairman of the Commission for the Examination of Russian and Belarusian Influences, Brig. Gen. Jarosław Stróżyk, regarding suspicion of the commission of the crime of "diplomatic treason" by the former Minister of National Defence, Antoni Macierewicz – writes the spokesperson for the National Public Prosecutor's Office, Prosecutor Przemysław Nowak, in a statement.

On January 2, 2025, the National Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into the actions, from November 2015 to October 2016, detrimental to the Republic of Poland, by the former Minister of National Defence, Antoni Macierewicz, authorized to act on behalf of the Republic of Poland in relations with the government of a foreign state and a foreign organization. This is in connection with the decision not to join Poland to the international program for the purchase of air-to-air refueling aircraft, known as "Karkonosze" – it reads.

The prosecutor's office website informed that the request concerns an act under Article 129 of the Penal Code.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with the President of the European Council, António Costa, at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM). During the meeting, current EU agenda topics were discussed, including the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

– Yes, Europe, you are lucky that at this very difficult moment in our history, it is Poland that will be fulfilling the presidency mission. Because we in Poland know very well that one must find within oneself both strength and hope and faith in one's own capabilities, and one must rediscover the meaning of freedom, all that Europe represents – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the opening gala of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

– Let us do everything to make Europe strong again. We have every reason to become a strong Europe again, and Poland is prepared for this task – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the opening gala of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

– Yes, there are great expectations towards the Polish presidency in Europe. But today, from Warsaw, I would like to direct this question to all of Europe, to all Europeans. Are you all ready to embark anew on the European path of greatness, strength, and sovereignty? Because Poland is ready – he continued.
