Political Week Ahead: Trzaskowski's Convention, Nawrocki's Tour, Sejm on Budget and National Media Council, Senate on Energy Prices and Health Contributions, Duda in Lithuania

Politics is set to accelerate again – the upcoming week will feature Sejm sessions where the budget will be voted on, while the upper house will address energy prices and health contributions. Additionally, parliamentary committees will consider a motion to forcibly bring Zbigniew Ziobro to a session, and continue work on bringing the NBP President and the head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) before the State Tribunal.

The weekend, in turn, will see the long-announced convention of Civic Coalition, during which Rafał Trzaskowski will be declared the official presidential candidate. Karol Nawrocki, supported by PiS, will also continue his activities – starting from Monday morning.

Nawrocki on Tour. The presidential candidate supported by PiS continues his so-called pre-campaign from dawn. On Monday, he will be in Chełm, where he will lay flowers at the Volhynian Piety monument, meet with journalists, and visit the Senior+ Day Care Center. In the afternoon, a meeting with the candidate will take place in Bielsko-Biała.

Hearings Before the Investigative Committee. On Monday, the Pegasus investigative committee is scheduled to hear testimony from former ABW head Piotr Pogonowski and – partially in a closed session – former deputy head of CBA Daniel Karpeta.

Committee on Ziobro's Bringing to Session. On Tuesday, the Committee on Rules of Procedure, MPs' Affairs, and Immunities will consider the request from the Pegasus investigative committee to grant the Sejm's consent for the detention and forced escort of MP Zbigniew Ziobro to a session of the parliamentary investigative committee.

Sejm on Budget and National Media Council. The three-day Sejm session, starting on Wednesday, actually comprises two meetings – the aim is to vote on the draft budget law for 2025 this week. MPs will also deal with the election of a member to the National Media Council – the majority's candidate for this position is Civic Coalition MP Wojciech Król.

Committee on Świrski and Glapiński. On Tuesday, the Constitutional Accountability Committee will, in a closed session, hear testimony from Daniel Gorgosz, Paweł Majcher, and Tadeusz Kowalski regarding the motion to bring the head of KRRiT before the State Tribunal. Subsequently, the same committee will continue to consider the motion concerning Adam Glapiński.

Senate on Energy Prices and Health Contributions. The 24th Senate session will begin on Wednesday. Senators will address a bill concerning protective measures to shield households from rising electricity prices, as well as a bill providing for the elimination of health contributions from the sale of fixed assets and a reduction of the minimum contribution base paid by entrepreneurs to 75% of the minimum wage.

Duda in Lithuania. On Friday, President Andrzej Duda will pay a working visit to the Republic of Lithuania, in connection with his participation in the ceremony of transferring ownership of the floating storage and regasification unit Independence to the Republic of Lithuania.

Civic Coalition Convention. On Saturday, the Civic Coalition's electoral convention will take place in Gliwice, during which Rafał Trzaskowski will be officially declared the candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Poland. "We want to expand our coalition to include various environments that support democracy," said Rafał Trzaskowski, announcing his convention.

Senate on Energy Prices and Health Contributions. On Wednesday, the 24th session of the Senate will commence. Senators will address a bill concerning protective measures intended to shield households from rising electricity prices, as well as a bill that provides for the elimination of the health contribution from the disposal of fixed assets and the reduction of the minimum basis for calculating the contribution paid by entrepreneurs to 75% of the minimum wage.
