Hołownia:

If State Services Get Involved, It Will Lead to a Serious Crisis of Trust in Our Coalition

- These accusations or insinuations directed at me, which are based on, I don't know what, on some dirty speculation, dirty games that are starting to unfold, I must treat in only one way. Because if someone says: this name could have been on the student list, yes, it could have been, because I applied for admission to studies, but I did not undertake these studies. But if someone says: aha, he had an agreement not to attend these studies and actually get a diploma for it, then this is a very serious slander and a signal that the election campaign has begun in Poland - stated Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

- I understand that it bothers someone greatly that I have announced my candidacy, that there is an independent candidate in this game, and exactly what unfortunately often starts in election campaigns in Poland has begun, i.e., a series of insults, slander, insinuations, leaks. I wonder where this information comes from, which journalists are circulating today. Because if it comes from an investigation and is revealed by someone from the entourage of the suspected rector or other individuals, it means a crime. Information from an investigation cannot be disclosed - he continued.

- However, if it turns out, and I don't want to believe it, that our state services have entered the game and they are sharing with journalists or some other individuals who are interested in slandering me in this pre-election situation, such fake news, slander, lies, it means that the matter is very serious and it means that a very serious crisis of trust will occur in our coalition, because if the services are behind it or the services or the prosecution had any involvement in it, because this information must have leaked from somewhere too, it will mean that this is not what we agreed upon when we came and changed the state, so that it wouldn't look like it did under PiS - said the Marshal of the Sejm.

08:04

Szefernaker:

6:34 AM. Nawrocki Started the Day at a Small Family Bakery. Every Day We Will Be Close to People's Concerns. Good Day Poland!

The campaign manager for Karol Nawrocki reported on the candidate's early morning activities:

Konfederacja Candidate Change Amidst Weak Mentzen Polls? Bosak: We Have Not Considered Such a Plan
- I think it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me to run every time. I ran 5 years ago, that result was quite good, better than many expected at the start, but it didn't give certainty that if I were to run this time, I would make it to the second round - said Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News' "Graffiti". - I think it was better to give a chance to another of our leaders who hasn't run yet - he continued. - No, we have not considered any such plan [...]. We have decided, and in this campaign, Sławomir Mentzen represents Konfederacja; I am focusing on my duties as Deputy Marshal of the Sejm - he added, when asked about a scenario involving a replacement of Konfederacja's presidential candidate in January or February, should Sławomir Mentzen fail to maintain a double-digit standing in the polls.

Woś Claims Questions Can Be Asked, TVP Info Says Otherwise; Szefernaker Warns of "Machine of Hate and Lies"

The campaign manager for Nawrocki posted a recording from a morning broadcast on TVP Info, showing Michał Woś speaking about the possibility of asking questions. His words were partially muted, and the host of the TVP Info morning program stated that there was no opportunity to ask questions:

08:14

Czarzasty on the Left's Candidate Selection:

We Examined Many Specific Individuals.
- I deny [that no one from the Left is eager to run in the presidential elections]. Yes, [they are in the starting blocks], and to such an extent that we examined many specific individuals who agreed to these examinations - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on Poranek TOK FM.

08:15

Bosak on Health Contribution:

The Direction Zandberg Is Heading Is Simply Wrong.
- To win against abuses, one should not do it the way the socialists would want. Adrian Zandberg is a socialist and the leader of a socialist party. By taking away people's desire to run businesses, this is the left's mistake - said Krzysztof Bosak on Polsat News, when asked about Adrian Zandberg's words, who criticized the project to lower the health contribution, arguing that it would make it even more profitable to push people into fictitious self-employment.

- They believe that if they impose very high taxes and contributions on everyone, they will achieve some social good. They will not achieve good; at best, they can cause people to lose the desire for grassroots initiatives. [...] We have seen an increase in business closures for several years now, so the direction Zandberg is heading is simply wrong - he continued.

08:20

Czarzasty Hints at Possible Date for Left's Candidate Announcement
- The Left stated six months ago that it would announce its candidate at the turn of the year - that time is approaching. In connection with this, the probable date for announcing the candidate is December 15th. Nothing has changed here - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TOK FM Morning. - I think we can still consider announcing the candidate before January 8th, for example, because that is the turn of the year. Let's say, between December and January - he added.

08:24

Bosak:

If Running a Business is Taxed the Same as Employment, Everyone Will Want to Flee to Employee Jobs
- I believe there is a fundamental error in comparing the level of taxation for business activity and employment, because employment is associated with a certain predictability and does not involve the risk of investing one's own funds in a company that is meant to grow, whereas business activity is meant to provide [...] the possibility of saving capital in order to invest and create new jobs - said Krzysztof Bosak on Polsat News. - If we cause running a business to be taxed the same as employment, then everyone will want to flee to employee jobs, in administration, to secure positions in various companies, and it will turn out that, apart from international corporations that treat us like sheep to be shorn, there will be no one in Poland willing to run a business - he continued. - Is this the direction we want to go, or do we want to kill the entrepreneurial spirit in Poles? There must be some incentive to run a business - he added.

08:24

Czarzasty on the Left’s Candidate:

We received the poll results yesterday, we are analyzing them.
- The people who could potentially run, you mentioned those names [Dziemianowicz-Bąk, Biejat, Kotula, Gawkowski, Kukucki], we have poll data, just to be clear – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TOK FM Morning. - We received the poll results yesterday, we are analyzing them, and then we will make a decision – he emphasized.

08:30

Czarzasty on Yesterday's Sejm Votes:

Two Strong Social Issues.
- The Left is about social issues. Incidentally, yesterday there were two strong social issues, meaning first of all, maternity leave for premature babies. This is a big deal, I bow my head to Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty on TOK FM Morning. - And the second issue – what no one will ever take away from Polish women and men again – is a free Christmas Eve forever - he indicated.

08:31

Bosak:

Morawiecki Created a Parallel Budget, and This Government Continues It
- In my opinion, we have the money to revert [regarding the health contribution] to what it was before this change that PiS made. [...] The Minister of Finance must make certain transfers, and they will do so - said Krzysztof Bosak on Polsat News. - We, as MPs, and I regret this, do not have constant access to what the Minister of Finance is doing. The parliament's control function, when it comes to fiscal policy, has been reduced to almost zero, and this happened during the PiS government. Mateusz Morawiecki created a parallel budget for himself, and this government is continuing it - he continued. - I am referring to the so-called 'covid fund', which has not been abolished by this new government, and other parallel funds - he added.

08:36

and Legislative Initiative:

Let's Take Care of Polish Businesses." Nawrocki on the "Lack of Energy Price Freezes

- The government, which enacts laws and oversees the entire legislative process, should also take care of Polish entrepreneurs, and I would like to express my deep concern on behalf of Polish entrepreneurs, on behalf of the Krzemień family's bakery, regarding what may happen from January 2025 - stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference held at a bakery in Racibórz.

- Let's take care of Polish businesses, let's consider that from January 2025, there will be less and less energy in every Pole's wallet due to poor decisions and the Polish government's lack of care for electricity prices, and the absence of electricity price freezes, especially for entrepreneurs - he continued.

- If I were to become the President of the Republic of Poland today, which is, of course, physically impossible, I would come forward with a legislative initiative to include entrepreneurs in electricity protection measures, and not allow Polish small businesses to be destroyed - he said.

08:37

Bosak on Ukraine's Consent for Exhumations:

No Breakthrough Achieved. Statement Signed by Polish Minister Confirms Falsehood.
- I believe that no breakthrough has been achieved, and this statement is vague - Krzysztof Bosak said on Polsat News, when asked about Ukraine's declaration regarding exhumations. - This statement, signed by the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirms falsehood. The statement that there are no obstacles is a falsehood; obstacles do exist. Not a single request sent by the Polish side, by the IPN, has been considered positively - he continued. - There is a formulation in it that there are no obstacles [...] in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. This is true to the extent that no law in Ukraine prohibits carrying out the work, but the administration does not grant permits - he continued.

08:40

Nawrocki:

I Will Present a Comprehensive Program by January

- I will certainly present my comprehensive program by January 2025, but if you, Mr. Editor, are asking how I would react today, it would certainly be with legislative initiative, encompassing not only households, which is very important, but unfortunately within a 9-month limit, that's how it looks today, not only local governments, but also entrepreneurs with support measures or freezing electricity prices - stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference in a bakery in Racibórz.

08:44

Czarzasty on Health Contribution Changes for 2026:

The Left Stands with Salaried Employees
- What do we disagree with? As the Left, we disagree with there being a drastic difference in paying the health contribution between salaried employees, on whose side the Left stands, and people who run their own businesses – Włodzimierz Czarzasty said on TOK FM Morning. - Why should a salaried employee get the short end of the stick? – he asked.

08:51

"Russian Provocation." Bosak on the Map Dividing Ukraine, Which Braun Called "Remarkable"
- I agree that we should consider all scenarios, but I am quite skeptical about treating elements of provocation disseminated by Russian diplomacy or Vladimir Putin himself as scenarios at all - said Krzysztof Bosak in Polsat News, when asked about Grzegorz Braun's post referring to a map envisaging the division of Ukraine, in which he wrote: "Remarkable. Polish statemen should consider all scenarios without superstitious fears." - I consider the map circulating on the internet and the proposals for the so-called division of Ukraine, where the entire central part of Ukraine is designated as disputed territory, to be a typical Russian provocation calculated to misinform diplomats, politicians, and citizens on other continents who have no knowledge of Ukraine's geography at all - he continued.

09:15

Trzaskowski:

We Keep Our Word, Experience and Effectiveness are Key in Politics

- We keep our word, and in politics, experience and effectiveness are the most important things. These large projects demonstrate that Warsaw can develop with the support of European funds - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

11:21

"We Could Have Won This'. Zandberg on the Absence of PiS MPs
And do you know what's saddest about this story of burdening retail workers with another Sunday? We could have won this. The crucial amendment by Razem, which defended the right of cashiers and sales assistants to rest, was lost by 4 votes. 15 PiS MPs were absent from the voting room – wrote Adrian Zandberg on social media.

13:06

Hołownia:

I want to believe it's a clean matter, but services sometimes like to join the game

- The fact that I am wondering why this issue, which I have been asked about many times, even last year when "Newsweek" first wrote about it, and which resurfaces in many circumstances precisely now, on the eve of the election campaign, makes one ask questions about coincidence. Incidentally, within a year, I received information twice that the topic was of interest to the services - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

- The first time, it was information that someone, to put it quite frankly, was circulating these reports that Collegium Humanum, Hołownia, was invoking the services, and the second time, that there had been some interaction with the suspect Mr. Czarnecki and an attempt to obtain some testimony that would incriminate me in this context. I immediately informed my government colleagues who deal with these matters about all of this - he continued.

- They informed me that they had checked this information. To Minister Siemoniak, to the Prime Minister, and that there is no action from the services in this regard, that it is a clean matter from that side. And I believe them, I want to believe that this is indeed the case, but I know that the services are also a kind of mechanism that sometimes likes to join the game in one way or another - the Marshal of the Sejm emphasized.

13:06

Hołownia:

Who is committing a crime by revealing such information?

- These leaked information must come from somewhere. If they come from somewhere, I assume it's from the vicinity of the investigation into Collegium Humanum and the university's rector. And that leads me to ask the question, who here is committing a crime by revealing such information – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

13:06

Hołownia Announces Legal Action Against Collegium Humanum

- From what I see now, it seems reasonable to consider taking legal steps against this university [Collegium Humanum] for the unlawful use of my personal data - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

13:30

Duda at the Navy Day Celebration:

We Cannot Allow the Loss of Dominance in the Baltic to Be Justified.
- The maritime domain is of immense significance for global and regional security. Especially in the latter context, we cannot allow the thinking of the Baltic as an internal NATO sea to justify the loss of our ability to ensure freedom of operation on its waters and to maintain dominance in the area, despite Moscow's still strong interests and potential in the region - said President Andrzej Duda during the Navy Day celebrations. "I thank everyone who has contributed to acquiring new vessels" - As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I extend my thanks to everyone who has contributed to the implementation of the most important programs for acquiring new vessels. The construction of multi-role frigates within the framework of cooperation between the Polish shipbuilding industry and a foreign partner in the Miecznik program has already commenced and is progressing according to the established schedule - he continued. "The most important challenge remains the decision on submarines" - Following the first three, subsequent Kormoran II-class minehunters are being constructed in a Polish shipyard. The Navy has already received all ordered tugboats. In the phase of preparation for construction, design, and ordering are electronic reconnaissance vessels, hydrographic vessels, and a rescue unit. The greatest and most important challenge today remains the urgent decision to initiate the procedure for acquiring modern submarines - he further stated. "The Navy must be restored to its required level of independence" - The maritime component of the armed forces is not just a military tool and the armed arm of the Polish Army [...] it is an instrument of state policy. Among other reasons, it should be restored to its required level of independence. Actions heading in this direction have been proposed in legislative changes prepared by my administration. The contained draft reform of the system of commanding and leading the army assumes the re-establishment of commands for branches of the armed forces, including, of course, the command of the Polish Navy - he added.

13:40

Trzaskowski:

I Know Hołownia and Assume His Complete Honesty
- I know Szymon Hołownia and assume his complete honesty. And I would appeal only to lower the emotions, especially on the democratic side, especially emotions on social media, because that absolutely serves no one and nothing. I hope that when it comes to all the counter-candidates on the democratic side, we will be bound by rules of friendly competition - said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference, when asked about Newsweek's reports regarding Szymon Hołownia and Collegium Humanum. - Insinuating that another party within the ruling coalition has anything to do with this serves no purpose - he continued.

14:40

Kierwiński on the Change in the Lower Silesian Voivode Position:

A New Dynamic and Energy Can Be Seen.

- Work is also underway, carried out by Polish Waters. Here, thanks to securing an additional PLN 40 million for Polish Waters for the process of cleaning the riverbed. Clearing, removing those old trees that have been carried onto the water. Despite the fact that there is still much to be done, we see great progress over these first 6 weeks – stated Marcin Kierwiński at a press conference.

- I thank the voivode very much, I know this is a difficult time, the first three days in office, but a new energy is truly visible, new dynamism is visible, it is extremely important that this money reaches people as quickly and efficiently as possible – he added.

14:56

Tusk on Baltic Sea Region Countries:

We Speak One Language Today.
Thanks to your initiative [the Prime Minister of Sweden], we all felt that the countries which bear a shared responsibility for the security of this part of Europe, largely for the security of the eastern flank and the eastern border of the EU and NATO, which bear responsibility for the security of the Baltic Sea, that these countries are speaking one language – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference. - It is absolutely crucial for the entire European Union that a group of states has been formed today. We have come from different places, we have sometimes had different viewpoints over the last dozen or so years, and today we are meeting with our Swedish friends, and yesterday in this wider group, with such a full, unquestionable conviction that in matters of security, matters of Europe's economic independence, true European sovereignty, we are speaking exactly the same language – he continued.

15:00

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

I Fully Trust the Sejm Marshal's Explanations

- Szymon Hołownia's stance is clear and fully explains the matter. I have full trust in the explanations of the Marshal of the Sejm. He has our complete support - Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on social media.

15:06

Tusk on Polish-Nordic-Baltic Support for Ukraine:

We Are Like One Fist on This Issue.

- Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. We will jointly support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, and also in the future in rebuilding the country after the Russian attack. This is an extremely solid bloc. Sweden, Poland, but also the participants of yesterday's meeting – I believe this will be a very important signal for Europe, that we are like one fist on this issue. There is not a single word of exaggeration in this statement – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

15:18

Tusk on the Turmoil Surrounding Hołownia:

I Have Full Confidence in What He Does and Says.

- I have heard the explanations of Marshal Hołownia. In my opinion, they are absolutely sufficient. He was very detailed in explaining the situation, and I have full confidence in what Marshal Hołownia says and does – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

15:19

Tusk:

Anyone from State Administration Abusing Position in Campaign Will Be Fired the Next Day
If anyone, who is part of the state administration, if anyone dares to use their capabilities, tools, competencies to influence the presidential campaign, to influence the election results in Poland, they will be fired by me the next day – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference. "Our campaign will not be directed against Marshal Hołownia." Tusk on KO's Campaign - I will certainly personally ensure this, our campaign will not be brutal and it will certainly not be directed against Marshal Szymon Hołownia. I am keeping my fingers crossed for him, we have our candidate, but I cannot imagine anyone representing the authorities daring to even think about using them against any of the candidates, and I am convinced that mutual trust within the coalition will not suffer because of this incident – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

18:18

Nawrocki:

How Did the Government Manage to Freeze Energy Prices Until the End of 2023, Only for You to Pay Higher Bills Recently?
- I am asking myself the same question as you today, here in Wielkopolska: how is it that after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, after Russian aggression […], after the change in the energy market in Poland, the Polish government managed to freeze energy prices until the end of 2023, and in recent months, in recent years, in your households, in my household, in your daily lives, and you know this perfectly well, you have to pay higher electricity bills? - said Karol Nawrocki in Września.

18:34

Nawrocki on Electricity:

I Will Not Allow the State Not to Help Poles with Their Wallets.
- Social, social responsibility in such difficult times as we live in, times when war is so close, and the electricity market is changing so dynamically, will be one of my areas of interest - said Karol Nawrocki in Września. - I will not allow the Polish state not to help Poles in ordinary matters and in matters concerning their wallets - he stated.

18:40

Nawrocki:

At 6 AM, While My Opponent Was Likely Still Asleep, I Was at a Bakery Discussing Energy Prices
- This morning, at 6 AM, while the capital's mayor, my opponent, was likely still asleep, I was at a bakery in Racibórz County, and there, Mr. Marian and Ms. Beata clearly stated that electricity for their small, family-run business is one of the two biggest costs of their bakery. It's flour and electricity - said Karol Nawrocki in Września.

18:58

Nawrocki Attacks Trzaskowski:

Someone Willing to Remove Crosses from Offices in the Polish Capital…
- One of the points, pillars of the National Security Strategy, is identity and cultural heritage. […] Identity, our attachment to values – yes, the foundation of these values is our experience and the foundations of Christian faith. [...] The cross and Christian values are inscribed in our identity - said Karol Nawrocki in Września. - I want to say that someone who is ready to remove crosses from offices in the Polish capital, which they find bothersome, does not understand Polish needs not only in relation to identity, but also does not understand them in relation to the National Security Strategy. Because in order to defend ourselves, we must know what to defend, who we are, and what we want to be as a national community - he emphasized. At that point, one of the organizers of the event from the “Gazeta Polska” Clubs spoke. - I would like to remind, and for this to be heard quite loudly by Mr. Trzaskowski, what is most important to us: God, Honour, and Fatherland - he said, and the participants of the meeting repeated these words after him.

19:24

"A Decision That Means: For Us, Poland Comes First." Nawrocki Thanks Law and Justice for Their Support
- I am a civic candidate for the President of the Republic of Poland, supported by PiS, for which I wanted to express my gratitude today through its MPs. I thank them for their courage and responsibility towards the current situation of the Republic of Poland - said Karol Nawrocki in Września. - Because to back a candidate who has been apolitical his entire life, for 41 years, and who is genuinely connected to social, civic, official, and institutional life, not party politics, one must realize that any political environment making this type of decision is making a decision that means: for us, Poland comes first, and our party is Poland, and we know it will take care of it - he continued.

19:36

Nawrocki:

Adamowicz Street in Gdańsk Doesn't Bother Me. My Opponent Pretends Such a Wonderful Person as Lech Kaczyński Never Existed
- A man from Gdańsk stands before you. A man who, in his professional life as a regular employee of the IPN in the Gdańsk branch, and then as its head, advancing from the very beginning to the place where I am today, had many ideological and social conflicts with Paweł Adamowicz, including public ones - said Karol Nawrocki in Września. "It wouldn't occur to me to protest against Adamowicz Street in Gdańsk" - When Paweł Adamowicz was murdered - of course, I emphasize this again: publicly, we differed greatly, we perceived Poland, the world, our native Gdańsk completely differently - but it would never occur to me to protest against Paweł Adamowicz Street in Gdańsk - he continued. "My Opponent Pretends Such a Wonderful Person as President Lech Kaczyński Never Existed" - This shows the difference between political circles in Poland, but also between presidential candidates. The factual situation is that President Adamowicz has his street in Gdańsk - and that doesn't bother me - while my opponent pretends that such a wonderful person as the late President Lech Kaczyński never existed in Polish history and public life - he emphasized.

20:44

Kierwiński on Flood Relief Payouts:

We Can Simplify Procedures, But They Must Exist.
- We have significantly simplified these procedures over the last two months. And we have changed the guidelines of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, according to which these [flood relief] payouts are made, and we have amended the law in this regard - said Marcin Kierwiński on the TVP Info program "Dangerous Liaisons". - Please remember, because I know everyone would like these procedures to be as simple as possible, but the role of the authorities, central and local authorities, is also to take care of public funds, so we can simplify procedures, but these procedures must exist - he continued.

20:52

Kierwiński on the Need for Changes to the Disaster Relief Payout System:

I Will Certainly Present Such Conclusions.
- I think we will have a very long book of conclusions. This system, the system of payouts through social welfare funds, has been in place in Poland for natural disasters since '97. Much in this system needs to be changed - said Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info. - We cannot change it now, because we are, in a way, in the middle of the process, but I will certainly present such conclusions after the rebuilding process is completed - he continued.

20:55

Kierwiński:

Civil Defence System Completely Destroyed by Previous Government
- There was a lack of a civil defence system in Poland; this system was completely destroyed by the previous government. Today we have a new law, it also gives new tools to the central government and the fire brigade, but it will also allow for better communication between the authorities, including local authorities, and the residents - said Marcin Kierwiński on TVP Info.

21:04

Bodnar reacts to Hołownia's words about the prosecution's lack of objectivity:

Such insinuations are outrageous to me.

- I can speak about the prosecution, and such insinuations and suggestions are outrageous and absolutely unacceptable to me. The prosecution is airtight, the prosecution does not disclose any information in an unauthorized manner – stated Adam Bodnar on the program "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

Bodnar: There is no evidence of Marshal Hołownia committing a crime

- I am pleased with the Marshal's trust. Perhaps I will say this: when I learned about this information in the media, I naturally asked the National Prosecutor, Dariusz Korneluk, to explain what it was about. I received information that, according to all the materials gathered by the prosecution, there is no evidence indicating that Marshal Hołownia has committed any prohibited act. So, I think if the Marshal trusts me, he simply has nothing to worry about – he continued.

21:09

Bodnar on Nawrocki:

If You Run for President and Have Such Limitations, You Should Take Unpaid Leave.

- There is a certain standard of public life that should be applied, and what's more, it was applied once before. In 1995, Professor Tadeusz Zieliński, then the Commissioner for Human Rights, ran for the office of President and simply took unpaid leave for that period. If you run for the office of President and have these kinds of limitations, be they statutory or constitutional, you should take unpaid leave so as not to raise any doubts – said Adam Bodnar on TVN24.

21:11

Bodnar on Lifting Ziobro's Immunity:

We've Submitted the Request to the Sejm, Now the Decision Rests with Them.

- I believe my role in this matter was to receive a request from the investigation committee for permission to lift the immunity in order to detain Mr. Zbigniew Ziobro. We reviewed this request formally at the prosecutor's office and submitted it to the Sejm. However, the entire decision now rests with the Sejm as to whether it will adopt such a resolution expressing consent. Perhaps there will be no need for it, perhaps Mr. Zbigniew Ziobro will simply appear – stated Adam Bodnar on TVN24.
