Pełczyńska-Nałęcz:

It's Obvious This Government Won't Raise the Retirement Age

- This statement is untrue. Firstly, it is obvious that this government will not raise the retirement age. There is no political will for it, and there won't be. Everyone understands this very well. What I am saying is: we have a very serious demographic problem in Poland. 15 years ago, 4 people worked for 1 pension, now it's just under 3, and in 2050, it will be just under 2 people. We must act now so that future pensioners receive decent pensions and so that there are no disproportionate, unbearable burdens for the younger generations - stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on "Sygnały dnia" (Signals of the Day) on PR1.

Mucha:

I Don't Expect a Large-Scale Process of Closing Small Schools
- I don't think this process of closing small schools will happen on a large scale. Of course, there are fewer and fewer students, this demographic decline is really very visible in schools - said Joanna Mucha on Poranek TOK FM. - When it comes to small schools, we give local governments a lot of freedom here. However, I think that situations where a kindergarten unit, perhaps a nursery, will be attached to this small school are more likely to occur. This is sensible and it is needed. I'm not even talking about further plans yet, because the further ones are even bolder - yes, not at this stage [integration of educational facilities] - she continued. - We know very well that there is a lot of money available for opening such places of care [kindergartens and nurseries], because they are very much needed, in turn, to stimulate the labor market, so that women can work [...] I think this process will really have many different facets. But as I said, I really don't expect any large-scale process of closing small schools - she emphasized.

Bosak Responds to Korwin-Mikke's Accusations:

Nothing Prevented Him from Filing for Such a Congress.
- Nothing prevented him from filing for such a congress when Mr. Janusz [Korwin-Mikke] was still in the Confederation's authorities; he didn't want to then, but now that he has been removed from those authorities, he suddenly does. I think the political intention here is completely clear. However, the voters showed their verdict in the 2023 elections; they no longer wanted him in the Sejm, they wanted a more mature proposal – said Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with Mariusz Piekarski on "Poranek TVP Info," referring to the accusation that the Confederation's authorities are acting illegally because the party's congress was not convened on time. - We will do it, but at the moment we have a much more serious challenge ahead of us, namely, selecting a candidate for president [...]. Dragging these things out has its limits, none of us is interested in dragging them out [...] there are more important things – he continued.

08:52

Bosak:

Confederation Primaries Should Be Held No Later Than Autumn
- I think that the Confederation primaries should be held no later than autumn. [...] We must enter next year with a presidential candidate - said Krzysztof Bosak on TVP Info. - Yes - he continued, when asked if he would run in the primaries.

09:00

Bosak on the Prosecutor's Office's actions concerning Romanowski:

This is some kind of obstruction.
- Everyone is excited about the arrest of MP Romanowski, in my opinion, the arrest of MP Romanowski has no significant importance for public opinion. The first hearing in the case of these 11 charges is of significant importance for public opinion [...]. This is a good question, why is the prosecutor's office dragging its feet? And why [is the prosecutor's office demanding the temporary arrest of Marcin Romanowski], and not bringing him before the court? This is some kind of obstruction altogether. Theoretically, we have accountability, but in practice, there are no charges? - said Krzysztof Bosak on TVP Info.

09:03

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on Healthcare Contribution Changes:

We Are Ready to Talk.

- We believe that an agreement is necessary, that we will reach an agreement, and that we are ready to sit down at the table and talk, to compromise in order to reach an agreement. We are pleased that there is consensus. We want to discuss this with respect for the budget and for healthcare. For us, the crux of the matter is this: the fee on fixed assets must certainly be eliminated. It is absurd when it comes to the healthcare contribution, and above all, we need to look out for micro-enterprises - stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in "Sygnały dnia" PR1.

09:08

Bosak:

Bodnar Lost His Way in Polish Regulations. Ziobro Can Be Accused of Many Things, But He Was Very Cautious About the Papers He Signed
- This is not the first case [of Marcin Romanowski] where Minister Bodnar, a law professor, got lost in Polish regulations. He got lost when appointing his deputies... Minister Ziobro, one can accuse him of many things, but he was very cautious [...] about the papers he signed. [...] It seems to me that Minister Bodnar, perhaps being a somewhat conceited law professor, lacked the caution characteristic of politicians who are well-trained and battered by political life, and is only learning now, and this is bad news for us, because when someone learns while holding government positions, they won't change much - Krzysztof Bosak said on TVP Info.

09:18

Bosak:

Morawiecki's Associates, Signing as Government Institutions, Tell Me Not to Speak About Irregularities During PiS Rule
- One of the institutions responsible for economic policy, I don't want to make it easier for the current government, so let them find it themselves. [...] I would say, from the top 30 most important government agencies. I am slightly shocked that after 9 months of Tusk's government and the grand talk about settling PiS irregularities, people who were direct associates of Prime Minister Morawiecki are writing letters to me, signing as government institutions and threatening me with law firms, telling me not to speak about irregularities from the PiS government period [...] a letter from July, from mid-July - said Krzysztof Bosak on TVP Info. - He wasn't working, he was in the closest leadership. And he still is - he continued, referring to who signed the letter.

09:25

Bosak:

Every government held propaganda events using public funds. If we're going to crack down, it should be on everyone, not just one party.
- It seems to me that this [800+ picnics, military picnics] was borderline, and it seems to me that every government, while in power, held events of a propaganda nature using public funds. It seems to me that this has never been suppressed. So, on the one hand, I absolutely do not support it, but on the other hand, I believe that if we are to crack down, it should be on everyone, not just one party. And of course, no one will do that - said Krzysztof Bosak on TVP Info.

09:27

Paprocka on the Romanowski Case:

Appealing for Help Outside the Legal Order Tends to Backfire.

- Yes [Romanowski has immunity from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe]. There are international agreements, immunity is a centuries-old tradition of international relations, and the regulations in this regard are clear. The minister has immunity; the prosecutor's office either didn't investigate this or forgot about it – stated Małgorzata Paprocka in the program "Jeden na jeden" on TVN24.

- Let's be honest, it was an embarrassment for the prosecutor's office not to consider such circumstances. I look at this, madam editor, in a completely different context. Civic Platform, or more broadly, the entire coalition, throughout the 8 years of PiS rule, constantly referred to European law, constantly referred to standards, constantly demanded help from that side, only to stumble over European regulations. Seeking such help outside the legal order unfortunately tends to backfire, and that's exactly what happened in this situation – she continued.

09:28

Paprocka on the Widow's Pension Act:

It's the First Step.

- There is no decision yet, the President has not made a decision [regarding the widow's pension]. As far as I remember, there is time until August 19th, but frankly, this is an element of the social security system that has been expected for many years. There are certain controversies, mainly related to the age limit from which one can apply, but I will say frankly that we in the Presidential Chancellery always look at this type of regulation in such a way that it can always be considered a first step. As soon as the President's decision is made - we will announce it immediately - said Małgorzata Paprocka on TVN24.

09:29

Paprocka on Changes to Abortion Law:

Tusk Promised It in 100 Points, Not the President.

- This [abortion] is not a topic on the presidential agenda. It was Donald Tusk who promised a resolution to the abortion issue in his 100 points. The President’s views on this matter are clear and, for a politician, exceptionally consistent – stated Małgorzata Paprocka on TVN24.

09:29

Paprocka on the Fundusz Sprawiedliwości:

Accusations of Theft are a Serious Crossing of the Line.

- The Chancellery of the President never participated in any proceedings. However, speaking of an organized crime group [regarding the Fundusz Sprawiedliwości], speaking of theft, is, to put it mildly, in light of what is on the table, meaning indictments, a very serious crossing of the line. This is because it is one thing to doubt whether funds went where the current authorities would like, and another to slander that someone stole public funds, because no one faces such accusations – said Małgorzata Paprocka on TVN24.

09:51

Morawiecki Appeals to the Rulers:

Stop Dismantling Local Poland.

- When I was Prime Minister, local roads were my top priority, they were an absolute priority. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. In next year's budget, the rulers have planned 1.9 billion PLN less for local roads. With this amount, a road could be built as long as the distance from Świnoujście to the Bieszczady Mountains and back. Money for roads, bypasses, and bridges should also be found again, and this is my appeal to the rulers. Stop dismantling local Poland - stated Mateusz Morawiecki in a clip published on social media.

10:00

Duda on the Parade:

I Want to Emphasize My Gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz.
- 9 years ago, there wasn't such a large-scale parade; we only had ceremonies at Marshal Piłsudski Square, both for the inauguration and the assumption of command over the armed forces, as well as for Polish Army Day. This year, a grand parade will take place once again. I am immensely happy about this and want to emphasize my gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, for this event taking place, for continuing this tradition which, in my opinion, is a very beautiful one - stated President Andrzej Duda at a military gathering before Polish Army Day.

10:12

Duda on Defense Spending and Military Equipment Procurement:

We Must Do This for Poland's Security.
- All this new equipment that is being purchased recently, new weapons. We are spending huge amounts of money on it, over 4% of our GDP this year. These expenditures have increased many times over in recent years. Just a few years ago, we were spending a little over 2% of our GDP on defense, naturally meeting the agreements adopted in NATO, but at the moment it is over 4%. This is almost 40 billion US dollars. By our standards and by our conditions, and let's say it openly, by European, and even global standards, this is a truly enormous sum. It is also a great effort by the entire society, because what's there to say, these are taxpayer's money. We are all contributing so that the purchase of this equipment is possible - said President Andrzej Duda at a military gathering before the Polish Army Day. - We must do this, for the security of the Republic of Poland, for our security [...] so that Poland endures, endures in Europe, as it is, free, sovereign, independent [...]. Today, we are all aware of the threat that has returned to Europe, the threat of Russian imperialism, which is destroying Ukraine today. We know this, and anyone who knows about military matters knows that such equipment is paradoxically bought in order not to fight - he continued.

Signed the Motion to the Constitutional Tribunal on Abortion. Appointed Deputy Minister Just a Few Weeks Ago

The "Legal Abortion" collective announced on social media today that Stanisław Bukowiec - appointed Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Government Plenipotentiary for Counteracting Communication Exclusion at the end of July - was one of the individuals who signed the motion to the Constitutional Tribunal concerning the tightening of abortion regulations.

- We warmly congratulate him - wrote the collective, accompanying the comment with a vomiting emoji.

It is true - Bukowiec's signature is on the list, a photo of which was published by one of the motion's authors.

Bukowiec is a former MP from the Agreement (Porozumienie) party. He was one of the individuals who, after Agreement left the ruling coalition in 2021, left the PiS parliamentary club and co-created a new circle for his own party. A few months before the end of the term, along with two other female MPs from Agreement, he joined the Polish Coalition (Koalicja Polska). He did not win re-election.

13:42

Żukowska to Petru:

You Wouldn't Be Spreading Crude Fakes Anymore.

- You [Ryszard Petru] wouldn't be spreading crude fakes anymore. The fact that you went to MP Trela and made such an offer does not mean it was accepted, especially since you have no mandate to represent the club or party. Your proposal is insane, it's a PLN 68 billion deficit for the National Health Fund (NFZ) - Anna-Maria Żukowska wrote on Twitter.

14:43

Domański, Siemoniak, and Bodnar Sign Agreement on Recovering "Improperly Issued" and "Stolen" State Treasury Assets
- I invited ministers responsible for such coordinated cooperation today to meet with you, in order to combat abuses and, above all, to recover what has been improperly issued, or even stolen. That is why Ministers Andrzej Domański, Tomasz Siemoniak, and Adam Bodnar are with us today - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference. - The ministers present here have asked me to consent to the signing of an agreement between the Ministers of the Interior, Finance, and Justice, and this agreement will concern the coordination of actions by all services subordinate to them and the ministries themselves, actions aimed at revealing, securing, and recovering State Treasury assets - he continued. - The work carried out so far by the National Revenue Administration, as well as the services subordinate to the Minister of the Interior and Administration and the Prosecutor's Office [...] has led us to a point where coordination between these ministries is essential for us to effectively and as quickly as possible recover these gigantic sums, for which we have evidence or, in some cases, a conviction and work is underway to find evidence, that they were issued improperly, unlawfully, to the detriment of public interests, or were directly appropriated by individuals and organizations and institutions that constituted the broadly understood power elite during the PiS era - he went on to say. - A very important task for the participants of this agreement will also be to prepare such prevention. We would really like not only to catch everyone who stole from the Polish state or abused power, we would really like to recover the maximum of what is recoverable, meaning they should return that money [...] but the final effect of the ministers' work [...] is also to be a set of proposals that will prevent, in the future, regardless of who is in power [...] the abuse of power, positions, and connections for their own interests - he added. Ministers Andrzej Domański, Tomasz Siemoniak, and Adam Bodnar publicly signed the agreement.

14:45

Tusk:

Investigations into Suspect Public Spending Cover 100 Billion PLN
- Why am I talking about data that leads us to believe we are dealing with an unprecedented mechanism, unknown in the past, of using the state and power for personal gain, or for the political and financial benefit of a political party? Thanks to their powers, directors of Tax Administration Chambers have been conducting proceedings since February this year in 90 units and entities, which fall under 17 ministries in our government. Every day, 200 controllers are working on these cases - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference. - The amount of public funds spent, this suspect amount, meaning the one deemed so not by politicians or commentators, but by the KAS (National Revenue Administration), requiring investigation because there is a suspicion [...] that these funds were spent unlawfully, in violation of regulations, procedures, or to the detriment of the public interest - this amount, after these several months of research, has reached 100 billion PLN - he stated. - Over 60 notifications of suspected criminal offenses have been filed with the prosecutor's office, the Public Finance Discipline Ombudsman, and the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA). The amount of irregularities already covered by these filings with the prosecutor's office [...] is 3.2 billion PLN. These are funds that are very precisely described, and we will effectively demand the return of these funds - he continued. "I was in shock when we realized the scale of this practice." Tusk on earmarked subsidies - When we realized the scale of this practice, I must say that - and I am an experienced person - I was in shock myself. I'm talking about money spent by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, from public funds, which are at the Prime Minister's disposal, for example, when someone needs sudden help due to a flood, or when an institution important for the state needs to be saved [...], or when it needs to be allocated for aid to victims of disasters - Prime Minister Tusk continued. - In 2023, 524 earmarked subsidies with a total value of 370 million PLN were granted to various foundations, associations, clubs, and religious unions, overwhelmingly directly associated with the ruling party and its support base. I am not talking about the government, I am talking about the Chancellery of the Prime Minister alone - he emphasized. - Most of these subsidies were transferred in 2023 without conducting an open competition for offers. So, it was the "whim" of the prime minister or his people that decided who these public funds were distributed to on such a scale - he added.

14:47

Tusk:

We have 62 individuals from the former power elite facing charges

- At this moment, we have 62 individuals from the former power elite who have been charged. This has never happened in the history of our predecessors, in the history before our predecessors. I've lived a long time, I'm interested in and active in public life, I'm also interested in politics as a historian, but this is the first time in Poland's history, not just after 1989, that officials of power, participants in power, who had to relinquish power as a result of the voters' verdict, are being held accountable so quickly and so effectively - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

14:47

Tusk:

All those who abused power will be effectively prosecuted

- I have committed that all individuals who have abused power against the state, the State Treasury, and Polish society will be effectively prosecuted and will be held accountable for it, including financially - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

15:06

Morawiecki Responds to Tusk's Conference:

A Closed Circle Rules Poland Today, and its Leader's Lies Have One Goal.

- A closed circle rules Poland today, and its leader's lies have one goal: to liquidate the largest opposition party in Poland and cover up the issue of liquidating CPK, nuclear energy, or horrendous price hikes that will drain citizens' pockets. One goes to a doctor with obsession, not to power - Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on Twitter.

15:09

Tusk Announces Presentation of EU Commissioner Candidate

- I will discuss the details further with President Duda in the middle of next week. We will certainly meet around August 15th, not only for the military parade, but we will also have a one-on-one meeting to discuss this. Already on Tuesday, at the government meeting, after passing on my suggestions and recommendations to Minister Szłapka, who is responsible for preparing the procedure, on Tuesday at the government meeting I will present my opinion on who should be the commissioner and what portfolio is interesting and gives us some real influence in the EC - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

15:44

Tusk on Health Contribution:

Let's Not Expect a Decision That We'll Pay Symbolically.
- The health contribution is meant to bring people [...] some relief, a change in the health contribution, and I will not allow it to become some kind of marketplace for political vanity, with the presidential elections looming, that parties of the October 15 coalition will be tearing this project apart. I have asked them to start talking amongst themselves already, both the Minister of Finance and representatives of the coalition parties are already sitting down, I think we will very quickly present some realistic and as fair a project as possible, which will satisfy people, but let's also remember that health has to be paid for one way or another, so let's not expect that the end result of this work will be a decision that we effectively won't pay or will pay symbolically for health - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference. - The Minister of Finance has probably well understood my intention and my firm recommendation to find a solution as quickly as possible with the representatives of other governing, co-governing parties, which will allow me to say before October 15, before the anniversary of the elections, that another commitment has been kept - he continued.

19:37

Kajdanowicz to Domański: It Looked Like a Media Event, a Bit for the Audience
It looked a bit like a media event, I would say a bit for the audience. You signed, you left, there were no questions, you couldn't talk - stated Grzegorz Kajdanowicz, starting "Fakty po faktach" on TVN24. This, I think, is a very important agreement that will allow three ministries, the Ministry of Finance, including KAS (National Revenue Administration), the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Interior and Administration, to cooperate a bit better, more closely during this very important process, which is the search and settlement [of PiS]. This is an agreement within the government - replied Andrzej Domański.

19:38

Domański:

If an institution spent funds improperly, beneficiaries can also be required to return them

- Fortunately, we live in a state of law. If someone has simply stolen money, then of course there are tools, such as regress, and if an institution has spent funds improperly, and there are beneficiaries of those funds, then those beneficiaries, provided they have broken the law, can also be required to return them - stated Andrzej Domański on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

19:41

Domański After Talks with Poland 2050 on Health Contribution:

We Agreed on Further Intensive Work.

- We have agreed on further, very intensive work on what is called the working level, meaning we will undertake further iterations, discussions on proposals in order to find a solution that, on the one hand, will be the fulfillment of this electoral promise to Polish entrepreneurs, and on the other hand, will also be acceptable from the perspective of the budget and the stability of public finances - stated Andrzej Domański on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

20:23

Bogucki Suggests Date for Announcing PiS Presidential Candidate
I think that [November 11th] is a date by which we should already know the candidate of PiS, United Right, but I hope it will be a candidate from a broader camp. A right-wing, conservative camp that will extend beyond the borders of PiS, United Right. Simply put, we need this to win the election, most likely in the second round – stated Zbigniew Bogucki in the program ,,Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News. I am not predetermining what you have already predetermined, which is that I am among those candidates. I will emphasize once again that it is extremely pleasant that these opinions are positive, and for them I am very grateful, but it is motivation, motivation for further work and a certain commitment, both to the voters and to my political environment, my colleagues, my superiors – he continued.

20:24

Bogucki on the Expected Decision of the National Electoral Commission:

I'm Counting on Reason and Rule of Law from PKW Members.

- We must fear losing subsidies with such a pato-government, meaning a government that says subsidies must be taken away, that funding for the largest opposition party must be taken away, to de facto starve it, to make its functioning more difficult. This is a government that wants to question democracy in Poland – stated Zbigniew Bogucki on Polsat News.

- I am counting on reason and the rule of law from the members of the National Electoral Commission (PKW), at least from the majority of them, and I will stick to that, because I will not act like Mr. Berek, Mr. Tusk, Mr. Giertych, and many, many others, who say: "This must be done, PiS must be starved, subsidies must be taken away. If you don't do this, then you don't know what you're doing at the PKW at all." I will not do that, because every politician should calmly await this decision, but on the other hand, present calm, rational arguments – he emphasized.
