Bodnar:

The President Has Repeatedly Shown He's Not Particularly Interested in Repairing Constitutional Bodies

- Moreover, in the meantime, the President has repeatedly shown that he is not particularly interested in this process of repairing constitutional bodies. For me, the appointment of Mikołaj Pawlak to the position of judge was a very symbolic act. So many doubts and accusations have arisen regarding Pawlak's activities, and the President unthinkingly says: ok, this person can be a judge of the Republic of Poland – stated Adam Bodnar in "Sygnały dnia" PR1.

07:44

Bodnar Announces Actions Regarding Pending Judge Positions:

Relieving Individual Courts.

- I have made the decision that by the end of July, we will present how these pending judge positions, these vacant judge positions, can be transformed into positions for court registrars or judicial assistants. If we have court registrars, they will, in large part, relieve individual courts anyway - stated Adam Bodnar on "Sygnały dnia" (Signals of the Day) on PR1.

08:47

Müller:

Arrest Warrant Request After Months of Investigation is Absurd
- There is a request for temporary arrest, and in connection with that, I would vote against it or abstain, because the effect is the same [...]. The situation where the prosecution files a request for temporary arrest of a person after many months of proceedings and, as I understand it, under fear of obstruction, is absurd, because for the last few months Minister Romanowski has been functioning normally, and if such risks were to materialize in a formal-legal sense, they would have already manifested - said Piotr Müller in an interview with Grzegorz Osiecki on "Sygnały Dnia" on PR1.

08:53

Müller:

If anyone were to have their subsidy revoked, it would have to be several parties
- There are no grounds to revoke the subsidy from Law and Justice. Following that line of reasoning, the Civic Platform would also have to have its subsidy revoked, as it conducted an election campaign, even now, for the European Parliament, I don't know, 'babciowe' [grandmother benefit] within the social media of the Prime Minister's Chancellery. I have nothing against it; these are informational activities of the government. However, when they run around, inform about the allocation of local and government funds, and conduct social campaigns using government resources, it is supposedly all fine. But when Law and Justice undertakes similar actions, it is allegedly a breach of the law – said Piotr Müller in PR1. - I put forward this thesis: if anyone were to have their subsidy revoked, it would have to be several political parties. But I do not put forward this thesis because I believe these actions were carried out in accordance with the law – he continued.

08:58

Müller on Ardanowski:

I count on finding some common political path with PiS after all,
- I personally value Krzysztof Ardanowski; he was a good Minister of Agriculture. I regret that he left our parliamentary club. I count on him finding some common political path with Law and Justice after all, if not now, then in the future, because I believe that programmatically, many things align - said Piotr Müller on PR1.

09:03

Siemoniak:

Buffer Zone Yields Results – Human Smugglers Targeted
- Certainly yes [the introduction of the buffer zone has brought the expected effect]. The measurable indicator, meaning the number of illegal border crossing attempts – these numbers have fallen. Of course, one should not attribute this solely and exclusively to the buffer zone – said Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Mariusz Piekarski on TVP Info's "Morning Guest". - I think the change in tactics on the border, the deployment of riot police units, close coordination on the ground and in Warsaw, but it must also be said that the pressure from the other side is decreasing. We are trying to influence Belarus in every possible way to end this practice – he continued. - Exactly one month after the introduction of the buffer zone, it must be said: it is yielding results, certainly in the area that was its objective – hitting human smugglers – he stated.

09:04

Müller on Announcing PiS Presidential Candidate and Potential Names:

It Could Be November.
- All the individuals you mentioned, in my opinion, could be good presidential candidates - Piotr Müller said on PR1, when asked if Mateusz Morawiecki, Beata Szydło, Mariusz Błaszczak, and Zbigniew Bogucki are "in play" when it comes to running for president with PiS support. - I think it could be November - he continued, when asked when the PiS candidate would be announced.

09:10

Siemoniak Announces When a Decision on the Continued Validity of the Buffer Zone Will Be Made:

We Will Present Recommendations.
- We are 1/3 of the way through the [buffer zone's] validity period. I can say: it is working. The media have access, because there were such concerns, and we are issuing a lot of passes. I think that in 30 days, as the decision deadline approaches, we will present recommendations - said Tomasz Siemoniak on TVP Info's "Gość poranka" (Morning Guest).

09:18

A Long Road Ahead: Siemoniak on Foreign Officers Serving at the Polish-Belarusian Border
- I have spoken with the German Minister of the Interior, and she will come to the border in September with experts to see the situation. As for foreign officers serving at the Polish border, it is still a long road ahead - said Tomasz Siemoniak on TVP Info's "Gość poranka" (Guest of the Morning). - What we are most concerned about is that everyone feels this is also their problem. Those who illegally cross our border end up in Germany, France, and other countries. We want to make it very clear to politicians and services in those countries that they should contribute financially, organizationally, and also exert pressure on Belarus and Russia, which stands behind it - he continued.

We Demand a Public Apology from Marshal Hołownia. The Constitutional Tribunal Issues a Statement
- The Constitutional Tribunal has received with concern the recent statement made by the Marshal of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, during a press conference. The Marshal of the Sejm accused a judge of the Constitutional Tribunal of committing a crime in connection with the performance of her duties during a hearing and consequently announced that he would file a notification with the Prosecutor General. The Marshal's statement misleads public opinion and damages the reputation of Professor Krystyna Pawłowicz - stated the press office of the Constitutional Tribunal in its announcement. - Furthermore, the Marshal of the Sejm publicly stated an untruth, as the ruling on imposing a disciplinary penalty for violating the dignity and order of court proceedings on MP Paweł Śliz, representing the Sejm in proceedings before the Constitutional Tribunal, was issued by the Constitutional Tribunal composed of five judges, and it was only Professor Krystyna Pawłowicz who announced it, as the presiding judge. We remind that judges of the Constitutional Tribunal, in the performance of their duties, are independent and subject only to the Constitution, and unlawful threats of filing an unjustified notification of a committed crime are punishable. The social mandate of the Marshal of the Sejm does not exempt him from the obligation to comply with the law in force in the Republic of Poland - reads further in the statement. - In this situation, we expect a public apology from Marshal Hołownia, who, by consciously misleading public opinion, firstly damaged the reputation of the Constitutional Tribunal judge, Professor Krystyna Pawłowicz, by accusing her of lacking knowledge and competence. Secondly, by baselessly formulating the accusation of committing a crime, he failed to explain all factual and legal circumstances, despite having qualified legal services from whom he could have obtained knowledge in this regard - wrote the press office of the Constitutional Tribunal.

09:22

Mroczek on Romanowski's Arrest:

The Evidence is Sufficient.

- In this matter, the decision rests with the prosecutor and the court, but we do have evidence in this case indicating that Mr. Romanowski, along with his associates, was involved in obstruction of justice, meaning they were tampering with evidence. And when I look at the behavior of individuals within the sphere of influence, who participated in the leadership of the Ministry of Justice concerning this Justice Fund, there is a collective effort to demonstrate that no crime was committed – stated Czesław Mroczek in the program "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

- In my opinion, this evidence, which indicates that Mr. Romanowski consciously prepared to tamper with evidence in this case, is sufficient to order his pre-trial detention – he continued.

09:23

Mroczek on PiS Politicians:

A Whole Lot of People Will Be Involved in Cases.

- It must be clearly stated that in the case of Messrs. Wąsik and Kamiński, and it is still the case now, this environment cannot clearly say that those who have committed violations of the law, crimes, will not be protected by the party. This party [PiS] protects its people who have committed crimes, largely protecting themselves, because the scale of abuses, law-breaking, and misuse of public funds for their own purposes is so immense that a whole lot of people are, in a nutshell, involved and will be appearing in cases – stated Czesław Mroczek on Polsat News.

09:23

Mroczek on New Premises Regarding the Use of Weapons by the Military at the Border:

In a Situation of Direct Threat to Life, They Do Not Commit a Crime.

- What is covered by the act, i.e., the issue of doubts regarding the use of firearms by soldiers and officers, is the final element of actions increasing the effectiveness of our state at the border. Given that doubts have obviously arisen regarding the interpretation of whether the soldiers, those who were detained at the border, that famous case, acted within the law or not. We are establishing that in a situation of direct threat to the life and health of soldiers and officers who are defending the border, when they use weapons, they do not commit a crime – stated Czesław Mroczek on Polsat News.

- In a situation where the forces and resources of the Ministry of Interior and Administration are insufficient, the military may be used, as part of an independent operation. We are adding to the regulations included in the draft act, after discussions in the Sejm, after remarks from, among others, MPs from The Left, this premise that if the forces and resources at the disposal of the Minister of Interior and Administration prove insufficient, recognizing that the services appointed for this purpose should act in the first instance – he added.

09:24

"No Tolerance for Vigilantism and Spreading Hatred." Siemoniak Addresses "Self-Proclaimed Border Defenders"
- We are, of course, taking this seriously. The police already took action on Sunday when such information [about self-proclaimed border defenders] appeared online. We did not find this in the physical world; such information appears in the online world - said Tomasz Siemoniak on TVP Info's "Morning Guest." - In the border region, we have a large presence of police, Border Guard, and the army. They are ready to respond. There is no tolerance for vigilantism or spreading hatred. This is not the task of any spontaneous groups - he emphasized.

09:41

Siemoniak:

Those Talking About a 'License to Kill' Have No Idea What the Situation is Like at the Border
- The [bill on the use of firearms at the border] is a government project. Representatives of the Left in the government also supported it. I understand and respect the discussion, as these are serious matters, but I expect the entire coalition, and perhaps even more broadly, to support such solutions. [...] I think it's a good balance between strengthening the legal protection of soldiers and officers at the border, and yet protecting the person who might find themselves there - said Tomasz Siemoniak on "Gość poranka" (Morning Guest) on TVP Info. - I am absolutely convinced that our officers and soldiers do not misuse firearms. The arguments that appeared, about a 'license to kill' etc., were formulated by people who have no idea what the situation there is like. [...] Making the decision to shoot is a very difficult decision. Every soldier, every officer is aware that it will be investigated and they will be held accountable for it - he continued. - This law - I hope it passes without amendments - states precisely that the Polish state supports these people and will protect them at every step. If they make any mistakes or commit an offense - they will be held accountable, but in this extreme situation, they must feel supported - he added.

09:49

When Will the Government Address the Civil Defense Act? Siemoniak Provides a Date
- [The Civil Defense Act] will be considered next week by the Standing Committee [of the Council of Ministers]. It is planned, I have spoken with Minister Berek, for July 23rd in the Council of Ministers. […] Determining financial matters with the Ministry of Defense required many weeks, as these were not finalized when I came to the ministry. I have not lost determination at any point - said Tomasz Siemoniak in "Gość poranka" on TVP Info. - The project is enormous. The project revolutionizes the protection of the population in Poland and involves local governments. Negotiations with local governments lasted for many hours over several days. This is a huge undertaking. […] Local governments are very interested in participating in such a program, where shelters are being built jointly with the government - he added.

10:41

"Unlimited Seats Available." Morawiecki Publishes Meme About "Platform Travel"

- Unlimited seats available - wrote Mateusz Morawiecki on Twitter, publishing a meme suggesting that the Civic Platform (Platforma Obywatelska) wants to accept immigrants. The infographic used the wording of the Poviat Building Supervision Inspectorate in Tarnobrzeg, which requests information on whether there are facilities in the commune that could house refugees.

12:16

On the Arrest of MPs:

It Can Be Assessed as an Attack on Democracy.
- Situations where an MP is arrested should be absolutely exceptional, leaving no room for doubt, because each time it can externally be assessed as an attack on democracy. And in this case [of MP Romanowski], there are here... to say there are many doubts would be an understatement - said Patryk Jaki at a press conference.

12:22

Smoliński:

Romanowski Could Be Arrested, Torture May Be Applied
- I think there is a high probability that the court will grant consent for arrest, and Mr. Romanowski could be arrested and, as it appears, subjected to torture, which is talked about so much - stated Kazimierz Smoliński at a press conference. - I'm saying this to the December 13th coalition: you won't arrest all of us - he continued.

13:26

Błaszczak Warns MPs Against Voting to Strip His Immunity:

This Will Backfire on You.
I have no doubt that PO MPs will vote to strip my immunity, but believe me, this will backfire on you; your power will end sooner or later. The communists also thought they would rule forever – stated Mariusz Błaszczak in the Sejm. Our team is gathering all these cases and will hold you accountable for it sooner than you think. To the rest of the coalition, I appeal for reason when voting on requests to revoke immunities, especially in cases of private prosecution – he added.

13:29

Tusk:

Lies from Poland's Highest State Official Echoed in Public Sphere Regarding Szatkowski
- We wanted to proceed, and did proceed, with maximum discretion, so that this matter would impact Polish interests to the smallest degree possible, especially during the NATO summit. Therefore, at the beginning of May, the services provided President Andrzej Duda and myself with a memo containing precise information summarizing the doubts, or fundamental reservations, concerning Mr. Szatkowski – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the Sejm. - I am speaking about this because emotions have arisen around this matter, and unfortunately, lies have also echoed in the public sphere, presented by the highest official of the Polish state – he continued.

13:31

"SKW Findings': Tusk on Accusations Against Szatkowski
'According to the findings of the SKW, which we informed the President about, although we assumed the President was aware of this even when he insisted that Mr. Szatkowski remain ambassador, well, according to the findings at the time, Mr. Szatkowski was accused of improperly handling classified documents, contacts with foreign special services, obtaining unauthorized financial benefits, and also relying on suggestions and inspirations from foreign companies when preparing important state documents directly concerning state security' – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the Sejm.

13:38

"I Agree With You On Only One Thing Today: Stop Patocracy." Tusk to PiS Politicians
- The same mechanism is everywhere. Sticky hands are everywhere, gigantic money is everywhere, there are people everywhere, if not Kaczyński, then Morawiecki, if not Morawiecki, then Duda. In all these situations, stakeholders connected with the ruling party's leaders appear. I agree with you on only one thing today, these words have already echoed from this podium: stop patocracy. On October 15th, Poles said "stop patocracy," and today there will still be consequences for that - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a Sejm session.

13:53

Tusk on the Szatkowski Case: President Used NATO Summit and Polish Media to Misinform Public Opinion
- The President used the NATO summit, as well as the media here at home, to misinform public opinion around this matter [Tomasz Szatkowski]. It is extremely important for me that the President, the authors of this report, and those who were Mr. Szatkowski's patrons – Antoni Macierewicz raises his voice here, a former deputy minister under Mr. Macierewicz – explain why, despite alarming information disqualifying this individual, prepared by your services which provided this information to the relevant parties, you defended this person's position and influence for so many years – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the Sejm.

14:01

Coalition Loses Vote: Sejm Rejects So-Called "Emergency Abortion" Bill

The Sejm has not adopted the so-called "emergency abortion" bill, a proposed amendment to the Penal Code by Lewica that aimed to decriminalize assistance in abortion.

435 MPs voted, with 215 voting in favor, 218 against, and 2 abstaining. You can read about the detailed breakdown of the votes here.

14:16

No Majority for 'Rescue' Abortion Bill Despite 14 PiS MPs Absent – Giertych Abstains, Almost Entire PSL Bloc Votes Against

The coalition fell short by 4 votes to pass the so-called "rescue" bill. Three MPs from Civic Coalition (KO) – Roman Giertych, Krzysztof Grabczuk, and Waldemar Sługocki – did not participate in the vote on the so-called "rescue" bill, even though Giertych was present in the chamber at the time.

Theoretically, it should have been easier for the coalition, as 14 MPs from the Law and Justice (PiS) party were absent. 24 MPs from the Polish People's Party (PSL) bloc voted with PiS, only 4 voted with the coalition, and 1 abstained. In total, 215 MPs voted "for," 218 voted against, and 2 abstained.

14:28

Giertych Explains Why He Abstain ed from the Abortion Vote:

I am not Pawłowska.
- Many of my views have evolved, but I am not Monika Pawłowska a rebours. Today, out of respect for the views of the vast majority of KO voters and for club discipline, I decided not to participate in the vote on the Left's bill - wrote Roman Giertych on Twitter, who abstained from voting on the bill to decriminalize abortion.

14:41

Romanowski's Arrest and Pre-trial Detention. Sejm Has Decided

The Sejm has consented to the arrest and pre-trial detention of Marcin Romanowski. 234 MPs voted in favour, 196 against, and 4 abstained.

15:09

KRS Act: Sejm Rejects Senate Amendment Regarding So-Called "Neo-Judges"

The Sejm, in line with the recommendation of the Justice Committee and Minister Adam Bodnar, rejected the Senate's amendment to the amendment of the KRS Act, which would have allowed so-called "neo-judges" to run in elections for the Council. We wrote more about the amendment here.

237 deputies voted in favor of rejecting the amendment, 195 voted against, and no one abstained.

15:36

Kaczyński:

All Prosecutor's Decisions Are Currently Made Illegally
The National Prosecutor is Mr. Barski, while this gentleman who was completely illegally placed there can submit motions just like you or I - Jarosław Kaczyński told journalists in the Sejm. - This will simply be a completely criminal arrest and the time will come, I am convinced, when these people will have to answer very heavily for it. All prosecutor's decisions are currently made illegally - he continued.

15:44

Żukowska Attacks Giertych:

Irresponsible Behavior.
- The hell for women continues. Unfortunately, it was lost – by a small margin of votes, but it was nevertheless outvoted with a “no” – our truly, one could say, conservative bill on the decriminalization of aiding abortion. Despite many concessions and amendments made for the attention and demands of PSL, or Poland 2050, regarding the shape of this bill – stated Anna Maria Żukowska at a press conference in the Sejm. - The fact that we currently have a coalition government is primarily thanks to the women who went to vote for all the parties of the current ruling coalition, for the Left, for Civic Coalition, for the Third Way, largely driven by the hope that this coalition would end the hell for women in Poland. Unfortunately, due to the conservative views of some parts of this coalition and the irresponsible behavior of those who, despite being present in the chamber, did not vote and broke party discipline – I am referring here to MP Roman Giertych, an MP from Civic Coalition – this bill was unfortunately not passed – she continued.

15:46

Żukowska Announces Relaunch of Abortion Decriminalization Bill: 'Until It Passes'
- Lewica is the only parliamentary club that voted in its entirety, 100%, for this bill, for this project [regarding the decriminalization of abortion]. But I also have good news. There is hope, because we will not give up, we will submit this project again. [...] I announce that we will submit this project for the second time at the next Sejm session and we will keep submitting it until it passes – said Anna Maria Żukowska at a press conference in the Sejm.

15:58

Hołownia on the attack on the Sejm website:

I have no doubt that the timing of this event was not accidental.
- The commotion with the Sejm's website, we now know it was a so-called DDoS attack - said Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with journalists. - We are currently working on it [...] it was an attack that caused the inability to connect [...] we don't think it was [that the Sejm website wasn't working because too many people wanted to check the voting results] [...] the head of the Chancellery of the Sejm has very reliable information on this matter and I also have no doubt that the timing of this event was not accidental; we are at the moment we are, important things are happening in the Sejm, there are forces that, as it turns out, want to sow confusion in our democracy, but we will not allow them to do so - he continued.

16:12

Morawiecki on Revoking Romanowski's Immunity: It's About Destroying and Declaring the Opposition Illegal
- Today's revocation of Marcin Romanowski's immunity is another act in the spectacle of political revenge orchestrated by the current authorities. The goal? To destroy the opposition and, in effect, to declare it illegal. Let's not fool ourselves, in this and other matters, it's not about any 'accountability' or 'justice'; it's just a smokescreen. It's merely a pretext for harassing political opponents - Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on social media. - Marcin Romanowski voluntarily reported to the Prosecutor's Office. The result? According to his lawyer's account, he was told that "no one can take him today" because prosecutors were busy, and it's the weekend from tomorrow, so he should come on Monday... This is a comedy of absurdity filled with the triumphant cackles of the current authorities, who on one hand attack political rivals, and on the other expose the ridiculousness of the state's functioning - he stated. - The revocation of Mariusz Błaszczak's immunity is also an outrageous example of this harassment. The reasons behind this decision were irrational. In this case too, there is not a shred of concern for the state and its citizens; there is only the desire for a political attack on the opposition. A scandal and a disgrace! - emphasized the Deputy Head of PiS.

16:37

Rosa:

We Should Re-process and Re-vote Decriminalization. To Completion

- Immense disappointment and rage. We should re-process and re-vote decriminalization. To completion - wrote Monika Rosa on Twitter.

16:39

Nowacka:

To Say They Deceived and That It's Shameful is an Understatement

- To say they deceived and that it's shameful is an understatement – wrote the Minister of National Education, Barbara Nowacka, on Twitter.

16:57

Tusk Announces Consequences for Giertych and Sługocki:

This Was Not An Ordinary Vote.

- This was not an ordinary vote. MP Grabczuk is in hospital - he is excused. MPs Giertych and Sługocki will be suspended from the parliamentary club and stripped of their positions (vice-chairman of the club and deputy minister). - Donald Tusk wrote on Twitter.

17:21

Sługocki Explains Absence from Abortion Vote:

Planned Business Trip.
- My absence from the Sejm is due to a business trip to the USA, planned several months ago. I have repeatedly emphasized the need for the decriminalization of abortion in my statements. I am convinced that the bill will return to the Sejm and gain a majority – wrote the Deputy Minister of Development and Technology, Waldemar Sługocki, in his social media post. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced his resignation.

19:35

Duda Responds to Tusk:

I See Immense Nervousness for Several Days.

- I have observed a certain immense nervousness in Prime Minister Donald Tusk for several days now. Ever since I answered a journalist from TV Republika’s questions simply based on the knowledge I possess, meaning, based on the truth. I gave an interview, and I don’t know if Donald Tusk dislikes the fact that someone answers journalists’ questions, or if he dislikes the fact that journalists ask questions, or perhaps the Prime Minister believes that one should not tell the truth when journalists ask questions – stated President Andrzej Duda on Polsat News.

19:38

Duda on Tusk: His Party Colleagues Attacked the Polish Government in Foreign Media for 8 Years

- This is something new, that the Prime Minister is speaking like this, because it seems that all his party colleagues did nothing else for the previous 8 years but attack the Polish government, and not in Polish media, but primarily in foreign media, while I was talking to a Polish journalist in Polish media – stated President Andrzej Duda on Polsat News.

19:42

Duda on Szatkowski:

No Objections from NATO Services.
- First and foremost, I knew that Ambassador Szatkowski had been our ambassador to NATO for the past few years. He received all the necessary clearances for this role, he had access to classified documents, which were granted to him by Polish services. Consequently, Ambassador Szatkowski had previously undergone all checks. Furthermore, he recently took up an important position within NATO, where, I have no doubt, he was also subjected to counterintelligence checks by NATO services, and no objections regarding Ambassador Szatkowski, including from NATO services, were ever reported to me - stated President Andrzej Duda in Polsat News.

19:47

Duda:

I Will Do Everything to Ensure Defense Spending Levels Are Maintained
- I approach what is most important today, namely the issue of security, with full responsibility, and here I can calmly say: the only thing that has concerned me so far was hearing about the preparation of a reduction in defense spending. When I asked Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Minister of National Defence, about this, he told me that he knew nothing about it and that if such a situation arose where such a proposal was seriously put forward, he would be forced to resign because he absolutely could not accept it – said President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Polsat News, when asked if he was concerned about the "squabbling at the highest levels of power." - I accepted this assurance from the head of the Ministry of National Defence; for me, it is clear and obvious. However, these rumors persist. The question is what will happen next in this matter. I will certainly do everything to ensure that defense spending levels are maintained, because this is fundamentally important for building Poland's security today. So far, we have been doing this in a consistent manner; this is the most important matter today – he continued.

19:49

Duda on Szatkowski:

This Matter is One Big Collection of Slander.

- I expect this matter to be clarified, because for me it is not clarified. Today, unfortunately, this matter is for me one big collection of slander, I do not hide the fact that I treated the fact that some note with accusations concerning 2019 is suddenly being sent to me regarding Ambassador Szatkowski, some enigmatic claims - stated President Andrzej Duda in Polsat News.

19:50

His Accusations Are Based on Falsehoods and Manipulations." Szatkowski Responds to Tusk
Prime Minister Tusk has decided to make accusations, accusations that are based on falsehoods and manipulations. For example, he stated that the SKW [Military Counterintelligence Service] brought some charges against me. I will show one document, it is very important. This is a document that concludes a procedure that was initiated at my request, in order to verify the anonymous tips that were directed against me. This document states that precisely in connection with my application and in connection with the procedure that took place, it confirms that I provide a guarantee of the protection of classified information – stated Tomasz Szatkowski in an interview for Polsat News.

19:51

Duda on the Sejm's decision regarding the decriminalization of abortion:

I am satisfied with the voting result.
- This is also a political decision, but in my conviction, with regard to the current law, it is a reasonable decision, because if abortion is generally prohibited, and it is generally prohibited with a few exceptions, then these prohibitions should be legally sanctioned. If there is no sanction, the prohibition becomes illusory - said President Andrzej Duda in Polsat News, when asked if he was pleased with the Sejm's decision regarding the decriminalization of abortion. - I am satisfied with the result of this vote, I believe it is a reasonable outcome - he continued.

19:56

Duda on US Elections:

I am calm, we will accept any decision Americans make.
- I will say this: looking at these three presidencies, how different they were, two presidents from the Democratic Party, one president from the Republican Party, I am calm and I say: Americans will choose their president, and we will accept any decision Americans make regarding the choice of their head of state, and I assure you, I will try with all my might to cooperate with the new president of the United States as best as possible - said President Andrzej Duda in Polsat News.

20:05

Duda:

No One Would Agree to Ukraine's NATO Membership Today, But an Official Invitation Could Be a Significant Step
- It is obvious that if Ukraine were to be admitted with absolutely full rights, as we all belong to the North Atlantic Alliance today, then Article 5 on collective defense would immediately come into force. This means NATO member states would have to get involved in the war, and nobody wants that today, and nobody will agree to it today - stated President Andrzej Duda in Polsat News. - However, in my opinion, an important political element showing our stance as NATO towards Ukraine would be to take this extremely fundamental political step and give Ukraine the so-called official invitation to NATO, which means initiating the ratification process - he stated.

20:14

Duda:

I Have Doubts Whether We Should Issue an Ultimatum to Ukraine, Which Is Fighting Russia, Regarding Exhumations
- Last year, President Zelenskyy and I were together in the cathedral in Lutsk. I will remind you, we knelt together before the altar, where the victims of the Volhynia massacre were commemorated. We prayed there. This was, in my opinion, an important gesture from the head of the Ukrainian state. Shortly thereafter, Polish institutions also received permission to conduct search operations - stated President Andrzej Duda on Polsat News. - I know that politics is brutal, but I will say this: issuing an ultimatum to a state that has been attacked by Russia and is currently defending itself against Russia - Russia, which has also jointly murdered both our nations... Personally, I have doubts whether we should do this - he stated. - I am aware that many compatriots may have a different opinion. I believe we need to talk. A calm pursuit of truth and the fundamental right of families to have graves for their loved ones will be realized by our neighbors from Ukraine in the name of good neighborly relations and in the name of decency - he continued.

20:20

Duda:

Undoubtedly, PiS is currently experiencing a crisis, perhaps quite a serious one
- Many things have been said about PiS over the years. At one time, a certain current senator even published a book, I believe its title was 'The End of PiS'. Then PiS won elections and governed alone for 8 years, so I would be cautious here when it comes to such prophecies - stated President Andrzej Duda in Polsat News. - Undoubtedly, PiS is currently experiencing a crisis. It's a crisis that is perhaps quite serious. It is certainly linked to the fact that despite winning the parliamentary elections, they did not win them sufficiently to be able to form a government and rule [...]. Certainly, what is happening within PiS now are also its consequences - he assessed.

Błaszczak on the Lifting of Immunities:

Revenge and Distraction.
- This is revenge, but stemming from a cold calculation. I think Tusk knows perfectly well that he has no chance in fair elections, because he doesn't solve the problems facing Poles; on the contrary, he exacerbates them. I'll draw attention to the price hikes for energy and gas. A distraction - stated Marcin Błaszczak on the program "Gość Dzisiaj" on TV Republika.

Błaszczak on the vote result regarding abortion decriminalization:

This is a victory, the majority was not intimidated.
- I would say this is a victory, a victory consisting in the fact that the majority was not intimidated by external influences, that Poland is a Catholic country, where there is a strong sense of defending life, and this is very optimistic news. It also indicates that there are divisions within the December 13 coalition, very deep divisions. They are united only by hatred towards the opposition, towards PiS – stated Mariusz Błaszczak on TV Republika, referring to the vote result in the Sejm regarding the decriminalization of abortion.

Błaszczak:

In His Own Interest, Tusk Blocked Szatkowski's Candidacy for a Key NATO Position
- Tusk blocked this [Polish] candidacy, and likely a German will become Deputy Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, not a Pole. Everything connected with the attack on Ambassador Szatkowski is reminiscent of methods from a bygone era, using special services to attack a politician who became a target of Donald Tusk and the December 13 coalition. Therefore, in the name of his own political interests, he blocked the candidacy of the competent, professional Ambassador Tomasz Szatkowski, who could have taken an important position in the North Atlantic Alliance – said Mariusz Błaszczak on TV Republika.

Giertych on the Abortion Bill He Didn't Vote On:

Never Has There Been Such a Sloppy, Unreasonable Bill.
- I accept the penalty imposed on me by the PDT with humility, but I would ask you to read my explanation. As a suspended MP from KO, I am hereby suspending my own decision not to comment on abortion - Roman Giertych wrote on Twitter. - I only read the bill authored by MP Anna Maria Żukowska from Lewica on Monday. Never before has there been such a sloppy, unreasonable, and in some points even dangerous for women bill. Not to mention that there has never been a bill that would introduce such a free-for-all regarding abortions - he continued. - The bill assumed the deletion of Art. 152, paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Penal Code, meaning absolute freedom to perform abortions on demand up to 12 weeks. Anyone can perform an abortion, as long as it's not a doctor (the authors did not delete Art. 4a of the act, which allows a doctor to perform an abortion only in the cases listed there). Of course, this would mean that in most cases, an abortion would be performed by a charlatan. At the same time, the bill deleted Art. 154, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code, i.e., it repealed criminal liability for the death of a woman resulting from an abortion performed by someone. This is madness! To prohibit doctors, allow shamans, and release them from criminal liability for errors? General provisions on medical errors do not apply to charlatans. Exempting these individuals from criminal liability and allowing them to perform abortions is an aberration. I don't need to say that such provisions were not in KO's program - Giertych wrote. In the further part of his post, Giertych suggests, among other things, that the bill decriminalizing abortion would introduce interpretive freedom, through which the right-wing could in the future impose life sentences for terminating a pregnancy.
