Wednesday's Political Agenda: Sejm and Senate Sessions Commence, Civic Coalition on Kashubian as a Regional Language, Duda in Slovenia

A two-day Sejm session will commence at 10:00 AM. Voting will take place first, including decisions concerning changes in parliamentary committees.

At 10:15 AM, the second reading is scheduled for a parliamentary bill amending the law on consumer pawn loans, as well as a government bill amending the Civil Code. Following this, the agenda includes the second reading of a government bill amending the Accounting Act.

At 1:30 PM, the second reading is planned for a draft resolution commemorating the 90th anniversary of the enactment of the first nature protection law in Poland.

The agenda also includes the first reading of a parliamentary bill amending the act on national and ethnic minorities and on regional languages (at 2:30 PM), as well as the first reading of a Confederation-proposed bill amending the Personal Income Tax Act (at 4:15 PM) – this concerns raising the tax-free amount for everyone to a level equal to twelve times the minimum wage, but not less than PLN 60,000.

At 6:15 PM, further voting will begin, including on the government's report regarding the potential commission of an offense under Article 231 of the Penal Code by the Prime Minister and the Minister Proper for European Affairs, involving an official omission that led to Poland's irreversible loss of a PLN 4.7 billion advance payment from the National Reconstruction Plan.

A two-day Senate session will begin at 11:00 AM, during which the consideration of two laws is planned, including one concerning Poland's consent to suspend the application of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe.

At 12:00 PM, a press conference will be held in the Sejm with the participation of Civic Coalition MPs and Senators from Silesia. The topic will be the recognition of Kashubian as a regional language.

President Andrzej Duda will continue his official visit to Slovenia. At 11:15 AM in Brdo pri Kranju, a ceremony of official welcome for the presidential couple by the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, and her spouse is scheduled. The meeting of the presidential couples will commence at 11:30 AM. A meeting of the presidents with the media is planned for 12:50 PM.

At 1:50 PM in Ljubljana, President Andrzej Duda will be welcomed by the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob. Delegation talks are scheduled for 1:55 PM, after which Duda will meet, among others, with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, as well as with the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, and the President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, Marko Lotrič.

At 7:00 PM in Brdo pri Kranju, President Andrzej Duda and his wife will participate in an official dinner hosted by the President of Slovenia and her spouse in honor of the Presidential Couple.

Pomaska on the motion to bring Glapiński before the Tribunal of State: It would be best if it were ready for signature within the next two days
- Probably in the coming days [...] we have a holiday break afterwards, so I expect it to be at this session [...]. I think it would be best if it were indeed ready for signature within the next two days - said Agnieszka Pomaska in an interview with Mariusz Piekarski on TVP Info's Morning program, when asked about the timeline for submitting the motion to bring Adam Glapiński before the Tribunal of State.

07:41

Pomaska:

Manowska Must Consider Consequences for Not Adhering to the Law
- We will expect members of the State Tribunal, including the President of the State Tribunal, to adhere to the law. Ms. Manowska also took an oath, she is obliged to abide by the law in Poland, and she must consider that if she does not, she will also face consequences - said Agnieszka Pomaska on TVP Info.

07:50

Pomaska on the Failure to Raise the Tax-Free Allowance in 2024: Perhaps it Would Look Different if PiS Hadn't Pretended to Form a Government and Delayed the Transfer of Power
- The [tax-free] allowance carries specific costs for the budget. We know, after all, that PiS did everything to avoid relinquishing power, so the government was only sworn in on December 13th, and it was clear that for even formal reasons, it would be impossible to introduce this allowance this year. However, it is an obligation that remains in force - Agnieszka Pomaska stated on TVP Info. - The budget has its constraints. As I said, perhaps it would look different if PiS hadn't pretended to form some government and delayed this process of handing over power - she continued.

07:54

Kierwiński:

Proceedings on Policeman Discarding Item During Farmers' Protest to Conclude Today or Tomorrow
- They are concluding, these proceedings concerning, in reality, one situation regarding this disciplinary procedure, specifically the image where one of the policemen discards some item [during farmers' protest] - said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Karol Surówka on "Sygnały dnia" PR1. - As I promised, because I promised it immediately, this matter will be clarified very quickly. There is no consent for any non-standard, illegal behavior by police officers. I think that literally within days, it's today or tomorrow that this procedure will conclude, that's the information I have from the Chief of Police, and then you will learn all the decisions that have been made. If the law has been broken in any way or if a police officer has behaved contrary to procedures, there will be consequences - he stated.

07:57

Pomaska:

I Know Many Poland 2050 MPs Ready to Vote for Our Abortion Bill, I Think It's About Half of Hołownia's Caucus
- I think this abortion issue [...] is a serious political problem for Szymon Hołownia, but also for his party, because they are internally divided on this matter. I know many female MPs, many male MPs, I think it's about half of Szymon Hołownia's caucus, who are ready to vote for our draft bill. Consequently, this is postponing a certain problem, but I think the effect is exactly the opposite, that the longer this topic is postponed by Szymon Hołownia, the bigger his problem will be - said Agnieszka Pomaska on TVP Info.

08:01

Pomaska:

I'm Not Running for the European Parliament
- I'm not running for the European Parliament. [...] There aren't many seats, and there are probably quite a few more candidates, so it will certainly be an interesting process. I think a large part of the current MEPs will want to be re-elected [...] there are probably a few new people, a few new, big names - said Agnieszka Pomaska on TVP Info.

08:08

Kierwiński:

Within the Next Few Days, We Will Present Comprehensive Drafts of the Civil Defence Act
- I declared several weeks ago that within the ministry [...] a bill concerning civil defence, the defence of the population, is being prepared. Within the next few days, we will present very comprehensive drafts. I say 'drafts' because the final provisions will still be subject to discussions with both local governments and non-governmental organisations - said Marcin Kierwiński in "Sygnały dnia" on PR1. - This is something we have taken up from day one [...], because this matter was completely neglected by PiS. [...] This is something we will truly scrutinise thoroughly, how it came to be that the gentlemen from PiS did nothing in this regard, and one could even say more strongly - they did everything to dismantle civil defence in Poland - he continued.

08:15

Sasin:

Sometimes when a proposal is called 'terrible,' it's because they didn't want to give money

- These proposals were submitted after I was no longer a minister, so one could say the finale had already occurred… They were being prepared, of course, as minister, I did everything, so to speak, to encourage companies to participate in this program. Secondly, to provide them with know-how, in the sense that workshops were organized with EC officials who presented the principles to those managing these companies, how those principles should look, what conditions needed to be met - stated Jacek Sasin in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

- Sometimes it happens that when a proposal is called terrible, it's because they didn't want to give money. But I don't want to prejudge this. I didn't have such knowledge [that it was only for 11 million], in the sense that these proposals were submitted later. I was aware of the capabilities of Polish companies, and this stems from decades, let's say 30 years, of how the defense industry in Poland was treated, and it was essentially being dismantled the entire time - he continued.

08:17

Kierwiński:

Glapiński failed to fulfill his constitutional duties, he is a PiS functionary
- For me, the matter of Mr. Glapiński is obvious. Mr. Glapiński has failed to fulfill his constitutional duties. Please remember that the President of the National Bank of Poland has a duty to take care of the level of inflation in Poland, to take actions that defend Poles against negative phenomena such as inflation. He has not done so – said Marcin Kierwiński in "Signals of the Day" on PR1. - Glapiński is a functionary of PiS. The President of the NBP cannot be a functionary of any political party – he added.

08:33

Sasin:

Mastalerek Lacks Full Knowledge and Speaks Based on Incomplete or No Information

- I don't want to comment on this, because I am the last person to engage in any bickering with the President's staff. But I have the impression that Minister Mastalerek does not have full knowledge of this matter and speaks based on incomplete knowledge, or perhaps a lack of knowledge on this subject. Indeed, Minister Błaszczak and I worked closely together over these last 4 years of our government to leave the defense industry intact. Much has been achieved, but much more is needed - stated Jacek Sasin in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

08:37

Sasin:

I lament this discussion. It shouldn't have happened at all. I appeal to colleagues to end it
I lament this discussion. It shouldn't have happened at all. Certain tensions are a fact. They didn't arise after the last parliamentary elections; they also existed in previous years. There were certain differences, no one hid that, on many issues that were implemented by the United Right, PiS. This internal discussion continued. I lament that it is taking this form today. It shouldn't be this way, and I appeal to my colleagues to end this discussion – stated Jacek Sasin on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

08:39

Sasin:

No Talk of Any Division within PiS
There is no talk of any division within PiS. I understand there is such a narrative, and it would be a very good narrative for those currently in power. I don't see any symptoms of it. However, this is truly a narrative being floated, I believe, from the other side – stated Jacek Sasin in the "Piasecki's Conversation" on TVN24.

08:49

Schetyna:

I Don't Believe Glapiński Guarantees the Sound Standing of Polish Finances

- Let's wait for the justification of this motion. Bringing the NBP president before the State Tribunal is a serious matter. It requires serious debate and arguments. I am convinced that the Prime Minister will present such arguments. I haven't seen them yet, as it's only a preliminary announcement from the Prime Minister, but I believe this matter will provoke a serious debate and also show how important institutions like the NBP should function - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

- I do not believe that Glapiński is a guarantor of the sound standing of Polish finances. It has never been so and is not so now - he added.

08:52

Schetyna on 100 Specifics: Some of These Things Will Be Implemented in This Budget, and Some in the Next

- This is the PO program, our commitment. A certain part of things has been undertaken, decisions have been made, and it's a matter of when they will be implemented. It's not as if PO, KO won the election and is implementing its entire program. We said from the beginning that it's important to start the process of change and the realization of electoral promises and commitments, and that is happening. Some of these things will be realized in this budget, and some in the next. This is our commitment that we made to the voters - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in the program 'Gość Radia Zet'.

08:56

Schetyna:

The March to April Date Change Was Unnecessary, but I'm Glad the Abortion Debate Will Happen on April 10th

- The change from March to April was unnecessary. No one assumed that the local government elections would be on April 7th. In such sensitive matters, one must say 'yes, yes,' 'no, no.' I'm glad the debate will take place on April 10th. If we are building a coalition, it's so that it lasts. To show what unites us, not what divides us. I urge all my colleagues to share the view that the coalition is a value in itself. This coalition has no alternative in this Sejm – stated Grzegorz Schetyna in the program “Gość Radia Zet”.

09:00

Schetyna on Entering the Government: If the Prime Minister Asks, We Will Talk

-There would have to be the Prime Minister's will. For now, the government is working well and there is no such need. He hasn't asked yet, so I'm not in the government. If he asks, we will talk about it - stated Grzegorz Schetyna on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

09:08

Sasin on Obajtek: The Publication of Such Materials Could Also Be an Element of Blocking His Election Candidacy

- Today, there are no grounds to suggest that he [Daniel Obajtek] did anything wrong. The fact that such materials are being published could also be an element of blocking his candidacy in these [European] elections. One can also imagine that - stated Jacek Sasin in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

09:42

Dulkiewicz:

Without the previous government's changes, Gdańsk's development would be even more dynamic
What is probably most important to me is that despite many unexpected events such as the pandemic, such as COVID. We in Gdańsk also began this term under very tragic circumstances, following the assassination of President Paweł Adamowicz, we survived as a community, and that is something very important. But apart from that, we haven't slowed down our pace of development. Of course, if it weren't for, I don't want to use overly harsh language, if it weren't for the changes, to put it mildly, introduced by the previous government, this development would probably be even more dynamic and the quality of life even better. But perhaps it's not that bad anyway, since in the EU, out of almost 100 assessed cities, not only in the EU but across Europe, Gdańsk is in 4th place, and this is in assessments made by residents – stated Aleksandra Dulkiewicz on TOK FM.

09:43

Dulkiewicz on Limiting Local Government Terms to Two: 'In My Opinion, This is a Restriction of the Right to Stand for Election'

- We spoke very clearly when these restrictions [regarding two terms in local government] were introduced. Today, this dispute, or rather the absence of it, doesn't really feature in public debate. In my opinion, however, this is a restriction of the right to stand for election and limits some opportunities for residents of local communities – said Aleksandra Dulkiewicz in TOK FM.

09:55

Hołownia:

I Expect Interesting Reshuffles in the Sejm Chamber Within the Next Few Months

- I expect that within even the next few months, you will see interesting reshuffles in the Sejm chamber, and I think I don't have to explain to you, excuse me for saying so, you old political veterans, what is starting to brew here. This could be a truly interesting half-year - stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing.

09:56

Tusk:

We're Finishing the Cleanup and Accelerating

- They left us with record debt, pervasive corruption, depraved media, a politicized prosecutor's office, chaos in the courts, thousands of relatives and acquaintances in state-owned companies, a mess in agriculture, compromised diplomacy, a vetoing president, and a party loyalist at the National Bank of Poland. We're finishing the cleanup and accelerating! - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Twitter.

10:20

Czarnek:

If Anyone Wants to Expel United Right - Sovereign Poland, I Will Go With Them

- I have news for Gazeta.pl. If anyone decides to expel Sovereign Poland from the United Right, I will go with them. I repeat, if someone decides to expel them. Because if they decide to leave on their own, that is their will (...) the United Right must not be dismantled - said Przemysław Czarnek in the "Morning Conversation" on Gazeta.pl

10:21

Czarnek:

I Partially Support Sovereign Poland's Stance, But I Don't Understand My PiS Friends Who Can't Calm Down Two and a Half Weeks Before the Election

- These are heated minds in the emotions of the election campaign who don't understand that Sovereign Poland has always held such a stance regarding our tactics with the European Union. I even partially support Sovereign Poland's stance, but I don't understand my friends from PiS who can't calm down two and a half weeks before the election. Patryk Jaki said nothing new. This stems solely from pre-election emotions and possible arrangements in regional assemblies, particularly in Eastern Poland - said Przemysław Czarnek in the "Morning Interview" on Gazeta.pl.

10:31

Hołownia:

No motion for impeachment of Glapiński filed, it's not in the Sejm right now

- This motion [for the impeachment of Glapiński] has not been filed, it is not in the Sejm at the moment. If this motion is filed, then we will be able to have some initial information, because we need to see how this motion is written, whether everything matches, whether certain things need to be returned for supplementation, so only when the motion is filed, and it is not in the Sejm at the moment, will we be able to undertake such a discussion and say something honestly – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in the Sejm.

10:31

Hołownia:

Voters Obligated Us to Permanently Remove PiS; Anyone Undermining This Hope Is Irresponsible

- I said it would happen, and it will. The debate in the Sejm will take place on April 11th, period. However, if you ask me about my attitude towards our coalition partners, I say this without any irony, although I expect many might suspect me of it in this situation, it is purely positive. I believe that voters have obligated us to remove PiS not for 100 days, but permanently. And anyone who today, with aggression, confrontation, or some foolish, ill-considered attacks, tries to rock this boat and shake this hope that carried us, is irresponsible – said Szymon Hołownia at a press conference in the Sejm.

10:34

Błaszczak:

Where are the 100 Promises Fulfilled? It's Not 100 Promises, but 100 Lies. Your Credibility Has Hit Rock Bottom.

- This week marks 100 days since the formation of the coalition government of December 13th, led by Donald Tusk. Today, Tusk is absent, and I wanted to address him directly with the question: where are the fulfilled promises, where are the 100 concrete actions that Donald Tusk pledged? It's not 100 concrete actions, but 100 lies. You deceived voters when you went into the elections, making promises. You are untrustworthy. Your credibility has hit rock bottom - stated Mariusz Błaszczak in the Sejm.

11:20

Błaszczak on "100 Concrete Actions": We've Chosen Eight Issues to Turn into Draft Bills. We Hope They'll Be on This Sejm Session's Agenda
- There is no time to waste. This week marks 100 days of the December 13th coalition's government. I wanted to ask Donald Tusk a direct question. He is not present at the Sejm session, so through the media, we are presenting everything the December 13th coalition committed to, which means 100 lies - said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference. - We have analyzed this list and from this list, we have chosen eight issues that we have turned into draft bills. The draft bills were submitted to the Marshal of the Sejm yesterday. We hope that they will be on the agenda of the session that began today. Therefore, I submitted a formal motion for this to happen. I heard that it wouldn't, but through media pressure, I hope these bills will ultimately be debated by the high chamber - he continued. - The first issue is the tax-free allowance of 60,000 PLN. The second issue is voluntary social security contributions, not some kind of holiday [...]. Another issue is a flat-rate health contribution, another is cash-basis VAT, another issue is related to local government elections; it's about reducing 'concrete jungles' in cities [...]. We also consider 'granny's allowance' to be a very important project, as well as the maintenance fund, increasing the maintenance fund, and also widow's pension - he went on to say.

11:53

Kaczyński on Meetings with Glapiński: "He Met Me as a Colleague. I See No Reason Why We Couldn't Meet and Talk"
- The president of the central bank has no legal restrictions in this regard [visiting politicians], when it comes to his personal contacts, especially concerning people he has known for over 30 years, for 35 years. And what about Professor Rzepliński's visits to the Civic Platform headquarters? - Jarosław Kaczyński said in an interview with journalists. - He met [NBP President Adam Glapiński with me] as a colleague. No, I see no reason why we couldn't meet and talk - he continued.

12:44

Ociepa on being asked if he wants to oust Kaczyński: "I certainly want to have a predominant influence on the direction of the right in Poland"

- As you know, I did not join PiS, even though I had such an offer. I certainly want to have a predominant influence on the direction of the right in Poland – said Marcin Ociepa during his statement to the media.

Duda:

I believe the hasty recalling of Polish ambassadors is contrary to Poland's interests
- Regarding the exchange of ambassadors, which has been much discussed in Polish politics lately, let's start by saying that no formal request on this matter has reached me as the President of the Republic of Poland. The Constitution contains a very clear provision, which also refers to the relevant international convention, the Vienna Convention, stating that ambassadors are appointed and recalled by the President of the Republic of Poland – stated President Andrzej Duda at a press conference with the President of the Republic of Slovenia. - I believe that the hasty recalling of Polish ambassadors, representatives of the Republic of Poland, a truly collective action, is contrary to Poland's interests, unreasonable, and I can certainly announce in advance that I will absolutely not make any such hasty decision – he added.

14:44

Duda:

It's Always a Shock When Trying to Remove the Head of the Central Bank. I Appeal for Common Sense
- It is always a shock when one attempts to somehow remove the head of the central bank, even more so if one attempts to remove the head of the central bank under whose leadership it was possible not only to survive the very difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic, not only to survive the very difficult time of crises related to the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the shocks they caused, for example, in the energy market or concerning inflation. Inflation in Poland was suppressed to a great extent, despite predictions of an absolute catastrophe. No catastrophe occurred, and this happened, among other things, thanks to the wise, sensible policy implemented by the head of the central bank, President Glapiński, and the Monetary Policy Council - said President Andrzej Duda at a press conference. - I appeal for common sense, because Poland's financial stability and Poland's standing on international financial markets are of absolutely paramount importance if we want to continue pursuing the effective economic growth policy that has been successfully implemented in recent years - he continued.

Hołownia:

Manure Dumped at My Parents' Home; They Are Terrified. It Could Have Been Thugs Posing as Farmers
- This is my parents' home, a home where I don't live, and where my parents most often are. Elderly people who are terrified by this whole situation. Someone came at night, dumped 5 tons of manure, blocking the gate, and added old tires. Banners were hung saying "traitor of the Polish countryside" and that farmers "thank you for the gassing and clubbing in Warsaw" - Szymon Hołownia told journalists in the Sejm.

- I don't know what connection this has to my parents. I suspect someone might want to express some views in confrontation with me, but I'm used to different kinds of conversations, including with farmers. [...] I can feel hurt, and I can try to comfort my parents in some way and apologize to them that they are experiencing such unpleasantness because of me - he continued.

- I also hope this will never happen again, because if we escalate our behavior towards each other in this conversation in this way, it could sooner or later end in misfortune - he went on.

- This is not the method by which we should conduct dialogue with each other, even if someone is angry, upset, disappointed, frustrated, which I am able to understand. One should never harm anyone's parents or cross the line beyond which lies the private life of each of us [...]. I don't want to believe that these were farmers. I suspect it could have simply been thugs posing as farmers - he assessed.

Kierwiński Names New Police Chief:

Time to Cut Through Media Speculation.

- Time to cut through media speculation. At my request, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has appointed Inspector Marek Boron as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Police as of March 21st this year. Congratulations, Mr. Commander! - announced the Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński.

Zandberg vs. Wipler: A Showdown in Parliament Over the Tax-Free Allowance
Thank you very much for finally bringing the club's first parliamentary bill, indeed the first bill in this Sejm, out of the freezer after 100 days for debate. It is a great pride and honor for me, and from the perspective of our formation, our movement, our environment, a breakthrough moment, because for the first time we are working on a bill from the Confederation parliamentary club. This bill is about raising the tax-free allowance to PLN 60,000, and at the same time no less than 12 times the minimum wage - stated Przemysław Wipler in the Sejm during the first reading of the bill on the tax-free allowance. - Because we know that Poles best decide for themselves about their funds and how to spend them, Poles will best decide how to help their neighbors, the weaker, the wronged; they will do it themselves, with their own means, guided by the dictates of their hearts. That is why we want low and simple taxes, and this is the foundation, the core of our program - he continued. - In this election campaign, we struggled with competition, and today, in the coming days, it will become clear whether that competition was fair, lawful, solid, or if they were political fraudsters - he added. ***** - The fundamental problem with this bill is that you are proposing a huge hole in the budget, and there is not a word about what happens to expenditures. [...] Do you [to Przemysław Wipler] want to cut pensions, or would you rather further lengthen the queues for doctors? Or do you want to raise taxes on food? Because you haven't written a word about whom you want to take money from with this bill - said Adrian Zandberg in the Sejm. - If we want to have proper schools and functioning hospitals, local governments must receive funds for them. The income tax - which I don't know if you don't know, or haven't written - a large part of it stays at the local level, in municipalities. Your bill particularly hits small towns hard, because there is no mechanism to protect them - he continued. - A high tax-free allowance is a good tool, but it only works well in tandem with a progressive tax system. And we would gladly support such a tax-free allowance, but without progression, it turns into a gift only for the rich [...]. You have brought an embarrassing botch. If adopted in this form, it would cripple poorer local governments, and the impoverished majority would, on balance, simply lose out - he concluded.

18:03

Deputy Finance Minister: We Don't Support the Confederation's Bill; We Will Create Our Own Thought-Out and Analyzed One in Due Course
- There is no government position on this matter [the bill concerning the tax-free amount], there is only the Ministry of Finance's position […]. We do not support this bill; in due course, we will create our own bill, which will be thought-out and analyzed from start to finish - said Deputy Finance Minister Jarosław Neneman in the Sejm.

19:56

Trzaskowski on Farmers' Protests: I Don't Fully Understand Them, Many Demands Have Been Met
- I don't fully understand these protests at the moment, because a large part of these demands has simply been fulfilled. I understood the farmers' frustration a few months ago, but now that grain from Ukraine is no longer entering Poland, and because Prime Minister Donald Tusk negotiated changes to the Green Deal concerning agriculture, there's no more fallowing, much less bureaucracy, it seems that a large part of the farmers' demands have simply been met - said Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach". - I would appeal to the farmers for some understanding and a clear formulation of their demands [...]. These demands are so general that it's difficult to respond to them [...] if we were to introduce a complete border closure, an embargo, Polish agriculture would suffer because we import significantly more goods to Ukraine, we export to Ukraine, than comes from Ukraine to us - he continued.

20:06

Trzaskowski on the Konfederacja Bill's Procedure Regarding the Tax-Free Amount: If We Vote on Everything at Once, Let's Be Consistent. We Should Have Started with the Abortion Bills
- I expected it would be a problem, because we clearly stated that we want to liberalize [abortion] law, both us and Lewica, while Trzecia Droga consistently spoke of a referendum. [...] I believe it would have been much better if there had simply been a vote, because I know that a large part of Trzecia Droga's female and male MPs would want to vote for liberalization, that is the social expectation and those were the commitments. [...] These issues should be voted on as soon as possible; delaying them today for political reasons is simply a political mistake - said Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24. - If we vote on everything at once, then let's be consistent. If it is indeed the case that the Marshal has an approach of "all projects must be voted on and allowed to proceed" [...], then we should have started with all the abortion bills - he continued, when asked if he had any complaints against Marshal Hołownia for "pulling out" the Konfederacja bill regarding the tax-free amount.

20:12

Trzaskowski:

We've Delivered Over 12,500 Apartments Anyway. Not as Many as We Wanted, But No One Else Did More During This Time
- We've delivered over 12,500 apartments anyway. Not as many as we wanted, because 10,000 of those were renovations of vacant properties [...] however, no one else did more during this time. The PiS government withdrew from its program. Would I have liked to build more apartments? Of course, but the situation was hellishly difficult, and I do not accept this type of logic from my political opponents, who forget what the situation was like across Europe, especially when it comes from a PiS voivode who contributed to 11 billion disappearing from Warsaw's budget - said Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24.

20:23

Kołodziejczak on Agreement with Farmers: I'm Provisionally Calling it a Settlement

- Today, I am focused on ensuring there are no more protests as soon as possible and on providing farmers with as many arguments as possible so they can clearly and with full conviction state that protests are not necessary. In my opinion, today, after the document signed yesterday, which I'm not sure what to call anymore, so as not to offend everyone, I'm provisionally calling it a settlement - stated Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24's "Kropka nad i" program.

20:24

Trzaskowski on the Housing Affordability Crisis: I Won't Accept When Left-Wing Competitors Claim the City Can Solve Everything. They Are Part of the Government; They Can Propose Legislation.
- There are concrete proposals, indeed, concerning issues related to loans, concerning how to speed up the spatial planning process [...] there are questions about how to deal with people who bought multiple apartments for rent, there are many such proposals and they will be discussed and are currently being discussed in the government. However, I accept only one thing: when I hear from, for example, competitors from the Left, that the city can solve everything. The city cannot solve everything, and after all, they are also co-creators of this government coalition; they can submit these proposals in parliament. We have done a great deal in this difficult situation, and when it comes to building apartments, we have not sold municipal apartments, which PiS is now calling for – to sell municipal apartments [...] we have secured funds, and today we will further accelerate the building of apartments, but perhaps it's not possible to avoid other types of changes, including legislative changes – said Rafał Trzaskowski in TVN24, when asked about the problem of very high housing prices in large cities.

Kołodziejczak:

Everyone knows Tusk achieved a lot in the EU

- The whole of Poland is now aware of the problem. Everyone knows that Donald Tusk achieved a lot in the EU. I personally receive calls from people in various EU countries who say: your prime minister has achieved what couldn't be achieved before - stated Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24's "Kropka nad i" program.

Kołodziejczak:

Morawiecki and no minister wanted to meet with us for 5 years
With us, Prime Minister Morawiecki, and no minister wanted to meet with us for 5 years. Meetings were organized at the Ministry of Agriculture, at the Dialogue Centre. Farmers nominated their representatives. It's impossible to meet with everyone. Therefore, today it is very easy to make a move that will not be good for either side – stated Michał Kołodziejczak in the TVN24 program "Kropka nad i".

Bocheński on Trzaskowski's Decision Regarding Tractor Ban in the City: The President's Decision Violated Certain Civil Liberties

- I believe that speculating in advance and creating such hypotheses that farmers would certainly destroy property in the city is premature. We don't know what would have happened, but it seems to me that the justification for this decision was simply the desire to protect public opinion from images of how massive these protests are. This is because a protest by individuals or groups walking is one thing, and the image on television is another. It would be different if farmers showed up, entered with agricultural machinery, and the tractors stood there without destroying anything. Tanks drive on Wisłostrada during August 15th and nothing terrible happens. These are very difficult decisions because they also concern a certain freedom of movement for certain individuals. If there is no general ban on certain vehicles entering the city, then the administrative decision of the president in such a situation violates certain civil liberties – stated Tobiasz Bocheński in the program 'Gość Wydarzeń' on Polsat News.

Bocheński on the Green Deal: These are very bad solutions that the EU should withdraw from

- Agriculture is a very important part of our economy. The Green Deal hits agricultural production, increases its costs, and this will cause not only a lack of competitiveness for Polish agricultural exports but also an increase in prices for all of us. Additionally, other components related to their directives, concerning e.g., construction, will cause a huge increase in the cost of living and raise construction costs. These are very bad solutions that the EU should withdraw from, and the Polish government should negotiate very firmly for the sake of our economy and the household budgets of all of us – said Tobiasz Bocheński on Polsat News.

Bocheński:

Clean Transport Zone in its Current Form is Unacceptable, Trzaskowski Feared a Referendum

- Of course, it needs to be limited; in its current form, the clean transport zone is unacceptable, it was pushed through hastily. The consultations were a sham, the president feared a referendum. What's more, the change has been implemented in such a way that a person who buys a half-million-zloty car with a V8 engine today, which is not ecological, will be able to drive freely around the capital, while someone who earns less and has a 20-year-old car will no longer be able to enter – stated Tobiasz Bocheński on Polsat News.
