Fogiel:

We are holding consultations on forming a majority

- According to the President's announcements, PiS will receive the mission to form a government, and of course, we are holding consultations regarding the formation of a potential majority. Naturally, the Sejm will decide; the vote in the Sejm will decide – stated Radosław Fogiel in "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

- So far, all of the President's announcements have indicated this [that PiS will receive the mission to form a government]. But of course, this is his sovereign decision. This is how it follows from the constitution; we are waiting calmly – he continued.

Hołownia on his candidacy for Marshal of the Sejm: 'It's on the table, if I am the candidate of the democratic coalition, I will be happy'
- The state began to decay in Poland from parliament; it was there that these rotten processes began, which for eight years eroded, caused the state to erode on all levels, and it is from the Sejm that we must start to fix it, because we often focus on the government, and rightly so, because there are many issues to be dealt with, but there will be no good government if there is no healthy Sejm - said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Agata Adamek on TVN24's "Jeden na jeden". - I have an idea of how to try to change this [...]. It's not like I have the only one in the world, but if there is a joint decision of all three parties forming this democratic coalition that I should be their candidate presented to the Sejm, then I will be happy about it. It [my candidacy for Marshal of the Sejm] is on the table. I admit and say it openly - he continued.

08:13

Hołownia on the So-Called Rotating Marshal: As a Rule, It's Not a Good Idea, But There's Also a Second Solution on the Table
- As a rule, [the so-called rotating marshal] is not a good idea, because it weakens the person holding that office, yes, because it's clear that they already feel the breath of the next person coming right behind them, it's clear that it will be him and he'll say he would do something better, he's in the media - Szymon Hołownia said on TVN24. - However, there is also a second solution on the table [...] that the term is divided in half, yes, as is the case, for example, in the European Parliament [...] the same will apply to the Marshal of the Sejm, the same will apply to the Marshal of the Senate, the same will apply to some government positions [...]. No one should set such horizons for the prime minister, because the prime minister is, after all, a position that binds the executive power in such a way that you cannot place someone behind his back who will tell him and review him, 'listen, I would do it differently' [...] the prime minister must be the boss - he continued.

08:15

Fogiel on the Idea of Sejm Marshal Rotation: Another Potential Spark for Conflict in the Forming Coalition

- What I think [about the idea of rotating the Sejm Marshal's office] is even less important; what is probably more significant for everyone is what those potentially participating in this division think. Because this morning, we already have information that, for instance, the PSL is approaching this idea very skeptically. This is an idea likely pushed by Platforma and Lewica. Another potential spark for conflict in this coalition, which is still forming as opposition today – Radosław Fogiel said on PR1.

- If they cannot agree on this, then it's clear that no one trusts anyone there. Because what is the key problem? Well, they are probably afraid that someone who assumes this office will not want to give it up – he continued.

08:15

Fogiel:

We've been saying for a long time that we're dealing with a coalition of chaos. The dispute over the Marshal is just a symptom of this

- We've been saying for a long time that we're dealing with a coalition of chaos, which is not truly united by anything other than a hateful, anti-PiS profile. We have extreme liberals and we have the left. We have people who have one view on social policy, and we have people who have a completely different one – stated Radosław Fogiel on PR1.

- It's evident that there is no agreement, no common idea there. This dispute over the Marshal is a symptom of this – he added.

08:28

Hołownia on Coalition Agreement Contents: Improving the Situation of LGBT People, Health Contribution, Benefits, Holding Predecessors Accountable
- There is a text of the coalition agreement, a draft of the coalition agreement, and it is a very good text, and I say this with full responsibility. Yes, it will be public [...]. In terms of points, it is, one might say, a long text, at this draft stage that I saw, a dozen or so [pages], but we still have a disagreement protocol that we need to agree on at the leaders' level - said Szymon Hołownia on TVN24. - There is a different paragraph [than civil partnerships] in this draft coalition agreement, which [...] will indeed improve the situation of LGBT people in Poland, it is a very concrete commitment that will be included there, it concerns various solutions regarding, for example, hate speech, which such people often encounter, but regarding civil partnerships, we will probably need to have another round of talks, I, as I said, will always vote for such a law - he continued. - There is a lot about the health contribution for entrepreneurs, about benefits, about the Polish army [...]. In this draft coalition agreement, there is a whole extensive paragraph, even several paragraphs, that talk about how the outgoing government will be held accountable down to the last zloty and the last signature - he went on to say.

08:37

Hołownia:

The President Probably Didn't Know He Gave Us a Gift. The Coalition Agreement Will Be Presented Next Week
- The President gave us plenty of time to work on it [the coalition agreement] thoroughly. He probably didn't even realize he gave us such a gift, rather than rushing us [...]. We would have been ready [right after the elections], of course, I say this with a touch of sarcasm, but if we were given time [...] then we will take advantage of it - said Szymon Hołownia on TVN24. - I think we are close to the end, a good finale, but if we need another two or three days, I will certainly not object to that, because this is not a bakery [...]. Next week it must be [...] yes, unequivocally [the coalition agreement will be presented next week], and it will be this coalition agreement and how we will divide all the most important areas of responsibility for the state - he continued.

08:43

Hołownia:

The 'Fat Cats' Misunderstood My Appeal; They Were Supposed to Pack Their Litter Boxes and Flee, But Instead, They're Packing Money Into Them
- The 'fat cats' misunderstood my appeal to pack their litter boxes, because they were supposed to pack them and flee, but instead, they're packing money into these litter boxes, which is all of our money. [...] I don't want to say it's good that Duda gave this time, because it's bad for Poland, but they now have time to ultimately compromise themselves. We waited eight years, we'll wait another month and a half if necessary, or two, but now we are observing exactly why people voted against them in these elections - said Szymon Hołownia on TVN24.

08:49

Bartoszewski:

Kosiniak-Kamysz Would Be Suitable for Any Position

- In my opinion, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz would be suitable for any position. Competencies – he knows management, he knows politics. He has managed ministries, among other things – stated Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.

08:50

Hołownia:

Kosiniak-Kamysz Should Be a Strong Deputy Prime Minister in Tusk's Government, Candidate for Defense Minister is Excellent, but No Decision Yet
- I believe [Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz as a candidate for defense minister is] excellent. I believe he will be a very good, calm, wise, balanced, and exactly what is needed at this time. Furthermore, he will do one more important thing: he will restore respect to the soldiers. He will be a minister who will not dress up as a soldier [...], but as a civilian supervisor of the army [...] will show respect for the uniform and for the soldiers. However, there is no decision yet on whether Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will actually take over this ministry - Szymon Hołownia said on TVN24. - He should be a strong Deputy Prime Minister in Donald Tusk's government; there is no doubt about that, and I will fight very hard for it too - he continued.

08:55

Karczewski:

I am convinced the president will choose Morawiecki
- I am convinced that the president will choose Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki as the person who will attempt to form a government. Why? Because Law and Justice did win the elections - stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on the program “Graffiti” on Polsat News. - Such an attempt should be made, and the winner should have this opportunity, and we definitely won the elections, and that's how it should be, that's how it's been until now, that was the custom - he added.

09:02

Karczewski on Opposition Taking Power: 'What are 2-3 Weeks?' Reflection and Calming Down Needed, Not Chaos
- But what are 2-3 weeks? These matters can be handled very quickly and efficiently [passing the budget, credit holidays, electricity prices] with two chambers; if that's the case, we can truly prepare for it and carry it out in an instant. So, I don't see any elements here that could negatively impact the Polish economy, the budget, or the passing of the budget. I also think that a time for reflection and consideration, not just chaos and a nervous atmosphere, but also for slowing down and calming down, is needed by everyone – stated Stanisław Karczewski on Polsat News.

09:05

Bartoszewski:

I have frequent contact with German politicians and I tell them that compensation is due to us

I will be discussing this and talking about it with the Germans as well. I have frequent contact with German politicians and I tell them that compensation is due to us, yes – stated Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski in RMF FM.

09:05

Karczewski:

Kaczyński Unites Us Greatly, He is the Architect of Our Successes
- Certainly not. President Jarosław Kaczyński unites us greatly. Not in this campaign, but in previous clearly won campaigns, he is the architect of our successes in those campaigns – stated Stanisław Karczewski in Polsat News. - This is not a defeat. After two difficult terms, especially the second one, a particularly tough one, we won the elections. This is not a defeat. [...] No one in Poland has managed to win elections after two terms before. We won the elections, so this is truly a success on which a strong party can be built – he added.

09:06

Hennig-Kloska:

If a rotational mechanism were to be introduced, it would have to be systemic and apply to a larger group of positions, not just the Marshal of the Sejm

- For me, the best candidacy is, of course, Szymon Hołownia. I understand you are asking about the process of rotation. I can imagine it appearing, but I am not a strong supporter of this solution. If the leading force takes responsibility for the government, the second force with the largest social mandate should, in my opinion, take responsibility for the Sejm, because order also needs to be established there - stated Paulina Hennig-Kloska in an interview with Beata Lubecka on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

- I can imagine that if a rotational mechanism were to be introduced, it would have to be systemic and apply to a larger group of positions, not just the Marshal of the Sejm. From Deputy Prime Ministers, Marshals, Deputy Marshals, to the government - she added.

09:07

Hennig-Kloska:

Coalition agreement almost ready. We are close to the end of talks

- The coalition agreement is almost ready. We are close to the end of talks. [It lacks] approval from the leaders. Something will always be found to add. The arrangements will, in essence, last for 4 years. Dozens of very important points. All those with which the parties went to the elections as main priorities. From Poland's international position and defense, through foreign affairs, and armaments – stated Paulina Hennig-Kloska on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

09:12

Hennig-Kloska:

The Biggest Problem Will Be with the Most Ambitious Economic Demands of the Left, Such as Reducing Working Hours

- The biggest problem will be with the most ambitious economic demands of the Left, such as reducing working hours etc., because the economy is in a very difficult state today. For me personally, [a 35-hour work week] is not realistic, and I did not support it either. This is because we have to choose between wage increases, which people desperately need. During the inflationary crisis, people started working two jobs to make ends meet - stated Paulina Hennig-Kloska on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

09:13

Karczewski on Rotational Marshal: It's a Bad Idea
- I just don't see it. In some parliaments, like the European Parliament, it's like that, and in the German Bundesrat. In our conditions, it's a strange idea. I was a marshal myself, I know that one gains a certain experience, as well as foreign contacts, which also have a very big impact on the functioning of the chamber or international relations. In short, I think it's a bad idea – stated Stanisław Karczewski in Polsat News.

09:16

Karczewski:

After the Constitutional Tribunal's ruling on abortion, we lost support and never regained it. From a political standpoint, it was a mistake.
- We remember perfectly well what happened after the Constitutional Tribunal's ruling [on abortion], and it was then that we lost support, and we have not regained such support since - stated Stanisław Karczewski on Polsat News. - From the perspective of our political formation - no [it was not a mistake], but from a political perspective - yes. Every drastic change or change in extremely sensitive matters causes an effect in the future, delayed in time, contrary to the intended one. I feared this, and unfortunately, it is happening before our eyes right now - he added.

09:20

Hennig-Kloska on the Senior Marshal: I Can't Imagine Duda Entrusting This Mission to Macierewicz

- I can't imagine President Andrzej Duda entrusting this mission to Antoni Macierewicz, who was also on the agenda. We know well that the President does not hold this person in the highest regard. A lot has changed over these past 4 years. I hope nobody will try to scheme here, leading people out into the streets for the holidays - stated Paulina Hennig-Kloska on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

10:43

Soboń:

I Expect Poles to Be Fooled. The Budget Deficit Preventing Fulfillment of Commitments Will Be the Main Lie
- I expect that Poles will be fooled and there will be no 60,000 tax-free amount, there will be no return to the lump-sum health contribution as in 2021, there will be no deducting this contribution from the final tax, in short, all these announcements, which may have been attractive to some voters, simply will not materialize – said Artur Soboń in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on the Radio Plus program "Sedno sprawy". - They have already started, as you, Mr. Editor, rightly noted, whether maliciously or not, I don't know, but using the word "poor" when it comes to the state of public finances, they are starting with a foundational lie, it is to be a programmatic lie, the main lie, on which the entire policy of the new coalition will be built, namely the lie about a budget deficit that prevents the fulfillment of these commitments – he continued.

10:55

Soboń on Opposition Promises: I Abdicate from Their Assessment. If It Was Said Before the Election, It Must Be Fulfilled Now
- I fear that Mr. Tusk's political plan today is that out of all these adjectives, only that PiS will be removed from power will remain. Whether they [the economic proposals of Civic Coalition, The Left, and Third Way] are good or not? It's not for me to judge. [...] They are varied, some are irresponsible, some are more responsible [...] it is their commitment. [...] I abdicate from this assessment - Artur Soboń said on Radio Plus. - If it was said before the election, then it must be fulfilled now, and there is no excuse not to do it today - he continued.

KGHM Among Top CIT Taxpayers to State Budget

PARTNERSHIP TEXT

The KGHM Tax Capital Group paid approximately PLN 1.3 billion in Corporate Income Tax (CIT) to the state budget for 2022. The copper giant is among the leading taxpayers that are tax capital groups among state-owned companies.

For years, the KGHM Group has been at the forefront of the list of the largest CIT taxpayers prepared by the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry recognizes payers with special diplomas each year. Polska Miedź pays income tax as KGHM II Tax Capital Group. The Ministry of Finance emphasizes the contribution of state-owned companies to Poland's budget, which is in a very good condition. Since 2015, annual budget revenues have increased by over 100 percent.

– Thanking for the recognition, I want to particularly emphasize the exceptional contribution of all state-owned companies, which make a significant contribution to the state budget. A budget that we all benefit from. Thanks to the revenues, Poland is currently investing in infrastructure development, education, and health on an unprecedented scale. These are crucial matters for citizens, but also key areas for the country's development and economic strengthening. KGHM is part of this success – said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

Tomasz Zdzikot added that thanks to investment plans and innovative solutions, KGHM has become a key participant in the Polish raw materials market, which would not have been possible without the support of key ministries, including the Ministry of State Assets.

Mateusz Wodejko, Vice-President of the Management Board of KGHM for Financial Affairs, also emphasized the significant role played by state-owned companies in the long-term development of Poland. – Their activities are of fundamental importance for various sectors of the economy, from energy and heavy industry to the financial sector and public services. Through their strategic investments, these companies not only contribute to the creation of new jobs but also stimulate innovation, research, and development, contributing to strengthening Poland's competitiveness on the international stage – said Mateusz Wodejko.

The ministerial company ranking concerns individual company tax returns where revenue exceeded EUR 50 million, as well as taxpayers who are tax capital groups (PGK). Thus, in 2020, KGHM paid nearly PLN 750 million to the budget, and a year later, over PLN 1.4 billion. The copper company also pays money under the tax on the extraction of certain minerals. In 2021, this amount was over PLN 3.5 billion, and in the previous year, over PLN 3 billion.

It is worth noting that KGHM also pays local taxes to the municipalities of the Copper Belt, where it has the most branches. In 2022, this amounted to over PLN 300 million. The amount of property tax in this region was over PLN 230 million.

Błaszczak:

Command of the 8th Mechanized Division to be Established in Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą
The command of the 8th Mechanized Division will be established in Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą. Why here specifically? Due to the analyses conducted within the military commands at the Ministry of National Defence. General Ostrowski, who heads the 5th Department – the department responsible for planning the development of the Polish Armed Forces – will present the details to you shortly. The town also boasts very rich military traditions. For years, for decades, it was precisely in this location that Air Force units of the Polish Army were stationed. After the liquidation of this unit, unfortunately, all this infrastructure fell into disrepair, but after 2015, when PiS came to power, we began rebuilding this garrison – stated Mariusz Błaszczak during the signing of the decision to form the 8th Home Army Infantry Division. Why is this division necessary? Because the Polish Army must be strong. Those who claim that 300,000 soldiers in the Polish Army are not possible do not realize that one must work very hard to achieve this. It is entirely possible. Next week, a record-breaking session of voluntary basic military service will commence – he added.

Thanks to de minimis guarantees alone, we saved around half a million jobs

Soboń:

The Opposition Invented a Foundational Lie to Justify Not Fulfilling Promises
Today, in Poland's current situation, a stable, fiscally sound situation, a situation where we can calmly plan expenditures for this year and the coming years, our opposition has decided that the issue of public debt and the current deficit are matters that will play a primary role in the debate even before the first Sejm session. This is despite the fact that if we look at external assessments of Poland's fiscal situation, and I have here the assessments of the most important rating agencies: Standard and Poor’s, Moody’s, and Fitch – all three of these assessments, I have highlighted sections here that state Poland's fiscal situation is stable, Poland's debt is under control, and the diversity and capacity for development of the Polish economy guarantee that these rating agency assessments are good and stable – stated Artur Soboń in the Sejm. - Today, the opposition is trying to portray Poland's fiscal situation as bad, even surprising for the opposition. Why is this? Because today, in light of the failure of any programmatic agreement among these parties attempting to form a coalition, the opposition has invented something I call a foundational lie. This is a lie that serves as the basis for this new programmatic agreement, indeed the only element of the program that unites the current opposition parties today. A foundation that is intended to be the reason for the non-fulfillment of the commitments our competitors made to Poles. These are commitments that concern tax issues, fiscal issues, and transfer issues, increases – everything that naturally requires financial security or depletes state budget revenues – continued the Deputy Minister of Finance. - All of this is not to be fulfilled despite the promises that were made precisely in the name of this foundational lie, in the name of this basis, which is telling Poles today that Poland's financial situation is not stable, and what's more, it is a surprise to the opposition – he added.

14:15

Śliwka:

Politicians from PO and other opposition parties are once again trying to falsify reality and deceive Poles

- Looking at how politicians from Civic Platform and other opposition parties are speaking, we see ill will here, but in reality, there's a hidden agenda. It's evident that Civic Platform politicians, following the doctrine of Rostowski and Sikorski – meaning to promise twice and essentially not deliver – are again trying to falsify reality and deceive Poles, binding those who believe their promises – stated Andrzej Śliwka in the Sejm.

- We all remember the promises of 100 concrete actions in 100 days, within those program assumptions, there was, for instance, raising the tax-free allowance to 60,000 [PLN], a 30% raise for teachers, and increases for the public sector. The actions taken by Civic Platform politicians, should they, God forbid, come to power, are an attempt to find a cushion where they can retreat, adhering to Jan Vincent Rostowski's principle: there is no money and there won't be. And we must state this clearly and unequivocally. After 8 years of Law and Justice in government in Poland, we have a situation where the state budget is stable, and the public finance situation is stable – continued the Deputy Minister of State Assets.

17:46

Dworczyk:

Whether we can form a majority will be revealed, the final verdict comes during the confidence vote for the government
- Whether we are able to create a majority will, of course, become apparent. We have clear declarations from opposition parties, at least for now, but the final verdict only comes at the moment of the confidence vote for the government. Therefore, I would not prejudge how the next few weeks will unfold. As I said, it seems to me that it would be good, in accordance with the tradition that has functioned in Poland in the absolute majority of cases since 1989, for the mission of forming a government to be entrusted to a representative of the party that won the elections, and the elections were won by Law and Justice – said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Beata Lubecka on the program "Gość Radia ZET".

17:50

Dworczyk:

We will be determined to seek coalition partners, as a stable government with PiS as the majority coalition would be best for Poland
- Why will we be determined to seek coalition partners? Because in my conviction, in the conviction of Law and Justice, a stable government with Law and Justice as the majority coalition would be the best for Poland, for Poland which, like all of Europe, is going through a very difficult time, facing many challenges, starting from the war on our eastern border, through a series of crises, to what is happening today in the Middle East - said Michał Dworczyk on Radio ZET.

18:07

Dworczyk on Hołownia as Sejm Marshal: It's Strange to Consider Someone Who Has Never Been an MP. Czarzasty Has More Experience
- I find it a bit amusing when I hear discussions about whether the marshal should be rotational or non-rotational. [...] Why should the Marshal of the Sejm be rotational in Poland? Why, if there has been no such tradition in the Third Polish Republic so far? [...] It's so that everyone can fulfill their ambitions, not to achieve political goals outlined in electoral programs, and that's the problem – said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Radio ZET. - I don't really know what that would serve. The role of the Marshal of the Sejm is extremely important because the Marshal of the Sejm organizes the work of the entire Sejm. This also requires learning; there are many procedural and organizational matters there [...]. So perhaps Włodzimierz Czarzasty should become the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland [since he has experience as deputy marshal] and remain so, and engaging in this kind of artificial swapping, 'because I want to be marshal for a while too,' 'and I don't agree to that,' these kinds of squabbles lower the authority of this function – he continued. - It's generally strange to consider entrusting this important position to a person who has never been an MP before [Szymon Hołownia], though I don't know if he could handle it or not, should such a function be entrusted to him; I know for sure that Włodzimierz Czarzasty has much more experience – he added.

18:11

Dworczyk:

The Visa Situation and the Opposition's Narrative Harm to the Campaign
- Undoubtedly, situations like the one with the visas, which the opposition tried to turn into a scandal that had nothing to do with reality, or the opposition's narrative had nothing to do with reality [...] this whole situation definitely harmed [PiS's] campaign - said Michał Dworczyk on Radio ZET.

18:14

Napieralski on Public Media Changes: Staffing, Quality, Programming, So That News Isn't Solely About 'Tusk Being a Bad Person'

- To bring it all together into one program point, the goal was for the changes in public media to be very deep and significant. For example, changes in staffing, quality, and programming, so that situations don't arise where the only topic in the news from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM is that Donald Tusk is a bad person - stated Grzegorz Napieralski on PR24.

19:51

Bodnar:

What Happened in Poland Will Be in Political Science Textbooks. The Opposition Won Against a Government Heading Towards Authoritarianism and Seeking to Influence Election Outcomes
- What happened in Poland will end up in political science textbooks. Because there has practically not been a situation in recent years where we have a government that is moving towards authoritarianism, that uses various means to influence the election results – which has been confirmed, by the way, by the OSCE – and yet the opposition wins – said Adam Bodnar in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń". - It turned out that citizens and their massive involvement, that almost 75 percent turnout, citizens showed that they indeed care about democracy and defended democracy. This is their great achievement – he continued.

19:58

Bodnar:

I'm Scheduled to Meet with Tusk Regarding My New Role
- I am scheduled for such a meeting [with Donald Tusk regarding my role in the new political setup], we'll see what comes out of this meeting. […] Now, I think everything is being decided - said Adam Bodnar on "Gość Wydarzeń" Polsat News.

20:06

Bodnar Asked if He Wants to Be Minister of Justice: 'That's a Decision for Civic Coalition. I'm Available.'
- That's a decision that belongs to Civic Coalition. I can perform various tasks concerning the rule of law, both in the government and in the Senate. There's a lot to be done, a lot to put in order - said Adam Bodnar in the 'Guest of Events' program on Polsat News, when asked if he would like to take on the position of Minister of Justice.

- I've been saying this for some time now, I am available. I haven't spent so many years educating students or dealing with various issues concerning human rights and the rule of law to now say that at this crucial moment I'm not interested, that I won't get involved in rebuilding what needs to be done in Poland - he continued.

20:16

Bodnar:

There was a chance to reform the judiciary under PiS rule. PiS just wanted to have their cake and eat it too
- Of course, there was a chance to reform the judiciary, and that was even during the PiS government. PiS, however, acted on the principle of having their cake and eating it too. This means they ostensibly undertook various legal actions, but in reality, these were superficial actions, and this was correctly interpreted by the European Commission - said Adam Bodnar in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:25

Bodnar:

Three Judges at the Constitutional Tribunal are Not Judges, They are Substitutes. In This Case, There is No Other Instrument Than a Sejm Resolution
- Of course, a legislative change would be very much needed; moreover, a draft bill has been prepared by civil society organizations under the leadership of the Batorego Foundation. However, it seems to me that the most important thing is to ensure that at some point the composition of the Constitutional Tribunal's majority inspires public trust – said Adam Bodnar in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News. - Three judges are not judges of the Constitutional Tribunal, they have the status of so-called substitute judges, and the legal community has been repeating this to satiety since 2016. Here, in this case, there is no other instrument than a Sejm resolution [to state this]. What's more, it would also be the execution of a European Court of Human Rights judgment – he continued.

20:36

Bodnar:

First Stage of Justice System Reform to Take Months to Unblock KPO Funds; Longer Process: One to Three Years
- The first stage [of reforming the justice system] is a matter of a few months, precisely to send a clear signal and unblock funds from the KPO. However, for the longer process, we should be prepared for one, two, perhaps three years, because it's impossible to fix in one go what has been destroyed over 8 years - said Adam Bodnar in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:54

Bodnar:

It's Not About a Purge; It's About Judges Illegally Promoted Returning to Their Original Posts
- We have different categories of judges. We have individuals who are graduates of the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution, and there are quite a lot of them, around 700. […] They had no choice. They finished school and couldn't say: well, we'd prefer nominations from the old National Council of the Judiciary, because it no longer existed. As of 2018, it was gone. Consequently, their status is, I think, quite clear, and their nominations simply need to be legally ratified - stated Adam Bodnar on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń." - We also have individuals who had a choice. They said: okay, I'd like to become a judge in a higher instance, a district or appellate court. And in such a case, unfortunately, they made the decision to seek nominations from the new KRS, and as judges, as legal professionals, they had to be aware of the constitutional doubts. These doubts were expressed by the Supreme Court in its famous resolution of three united chambers, and by the CJEU - he continued. - This is not about a purge. This is not about anyone stripping them of their judge status, but about the fact that since they illegally obtained a promotion, they should return to the instances from which they came. Truly, there is enough work for every judge; in fact, we have a problem with a shortage of judges in the courts - the KO senator-elect continued. - The fundamental constitutional principle is the legal security of citizens and the security of legal transactions. Even if we are implementing these various changes, we cannot do so in a way that turns everything upside down. Today, hundreds more judgments, issued by judges appointed by the new KRS, have likely been made. We cannot reset these, but we should create a procedure or use general appeal measures that would allow for challenging some selected cases, especially those where we can demonstrate that the politicization of a particular judge may have influenced the case's outcome - he explained.
