"On behalf of all of us, I would like to warmly congratulate the newly elected Speaker of the Senate, Mr. Tomasz Grodzki, and to inform you all that Poland has gained a guardian of the constitution. The constitution cannot be amended without the Senate of the Republic of Poland. The nation has spoken. Marshal Grodzki did not win. We dedicate this victory in the Senate to all Poles," said Cezary Tomczyk of Civic Coalition (KO) from the Sejm's podium shortly after the election of the Senate Speaker, after which he began singing the national anthem. All MPs joined in singing the anthem.
