At 8:30 AM, a press conference will be held by Warsaw's Law and Justice (PiS) party regarding the filing of a report to the prosecutor's office concerning the so-called "bus affair." Sebastian Kaleta, Paweł Lisiecki, and PiS councillors from Warsaw will participate in the conference.

Thursday marks the first day of the session for both chambers of the Polish parliament. The Sejm (lower house) will commence its proceedings at 10:00 AM, with the Senate (upper house) starting an hour later. The second item on the Senate's agenda is the government's bill, adopted by the Sejm, which introduces a one-time benefit for pensioners and disability pensioners, the so-called "thirteenth pension."

The Marshal of the Senate will hold a press conference at 10:00 AM. Simultaneously, the parliamentary investigative committee for VAT fraud will begin hearing testimony from Tomasz Michalak, former director at the Ministry of Finance.

At 11:00 AM in the Sejm, the second reading of the PiS-submitted bill to reduce the copper tax by 15% will take place. The reduction of this tax was one of the conditions set by the Non-Partisan Local Government Officials and was included in the coalition agreement with PiS. The entire bill may be adopted during tomorrow's voting block between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

At 10:30 AM, a briefing is scheduled at the Ministry of National Education with Minister Anna Zalewska, Deputy Minister Maciej Kopeć, and the Director of the Central Examination Board, Marcin Smolik. Today is the fourth day of the indefinite teachers' strike and the second day of the gimnazjum (middle school) exams.

At 12:00 PM, Patryk Jaki will hold a press conference in Krakow. At 1:00 PM in Nowy Sącz, Minister Joachim Brudziński will hand over a new helicopter to the Border Guard. At 1:45 PM in Warsaw, the Mazovian electoral staff of the European Coalition (KKW Koalicja Europejska) will hold a press conference preceding the submission of the coalition's candidate lists for the European Parliament. Later, at 7:00 PM in the capital, President Andrzej Duda will meet with the foreign ministers of the Berlin Process.

At 1:00 PM, the parliamentary committee on constitutional responsibility will – traditionally in a closed session – return to evaluating the evidence gathered in the preliminary motion to bring Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, President of the Supreme Audit Office, to constitutional responsibility before the State Tribunal.

We should also appeal to those ZNP activists who, by striking, are trying to pressure those teachers who have not abandoned their students and are conducting exams. You can easily find various photos online showing pressure being exerted on those conducting exams or those who do not want to join the strike – said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Eliza Olczyk on Polskie Radio 24's "Poranek".

- I don't know that. However, one thing is certain. With their actions, many representatives of ZNP, and certainly chairman Broniarz, give reason for such speculation - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Eliza Olczyk on "Poranek" of Polish Radio 24.

This is an insulting claim [that the teachers' strike was concocted in his office], which PiS politicians, unable to cope with explaining why they led to this strike, have been forging for several weeks. No, we did not talk in my office [with Sławomir Broniarz]. Before the strike, no, paradoxically, as Chairman Broniarz himself mentioned, we had contact in the context of the previous referendum, months ago. We actually saw each other in 2018. I come from a family of teachers, and the issue of schools and teachers' affairs is quite close to me. We talked many times, as I say, last year, but now, no, we haven't had contact, and I believe that's a good thing because the decision of the teachers, ZNP, and the unions in general was very subjective, well-thought-out, and consistently developed, and not subject to external influences - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego."

- I would tell them [the rulers] quite directly that if they cannot handle this strike, this protest, if they do not engage in talks, if they only pretend to talk, if they humiliate teachers, as in the context of Kaczyński's statements in Kadzidło and 'Krowa plus' and 'Tucznik plus', because it is an attempt at humiliation, then I would tell the rulers: if you cannot manage such a strike, if you do not want to talk to the protesters, then resign - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- Unfortunately, yes [teachers should continue striking], because the rulers listen to no one. They talk about the reaction of the rulers, that they listen to no one, and that's why I'm referring to it. I think we underestimate the determination that exists in the community, because this strike is truly widespread. I don't remember such a widespread strike - added the Civic Platform (PO) leader.

- I recall how talks with protesting disabled people and their families were conducted, or rather, feigned, in the Sejm, how they were detained in order to limit the protest. I saw and I see the same policy from the rulers. It is a policy of confrontation and contempt - he continued.

For now, I don't want to offer advice, so as not to create discomfort for them. If this protest continues, then in reality, it is the government and the Prime Minister who should speak on this matter; it is President Kaczyński and all those who created this situation who should voice their opinions. However, let's wait until next week. Perhaps there will be reflection on the government's side – stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- I don't know [who will be the opposition's candidate for Prime Minister]. It depends on whether we win the election. We haven't decided on this yet [who will be the candidate in the campaign]. I'm not predetermining who will form the coalition we'll run in the election with. But I am optimistic. I'm not predetermining that the person designated by the largest party in the coalition, which might be Civic Platform, will be the candidate for Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of the future government - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- The coalition is a fundamental challenge for me. It is a good political move for all those who want to defeat PiS today, perhaps even Kukiz or Wiosna. But for me, for a man on whom history has passed judgment, and that history said that communism, as an agent institution of Moscow, must be fought, and that communism as a negation of the expectations and imagination of Poles. It also passed judgment on me. I cannot support such a coalition - said Jan Rulewski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki in "Graffiti" Polsat News.

- Now these PZPR officials are smuggling in the values they so persistently defended. They are smuggling them into the coalition. While I accept that people can have left-wing views, and can even be in the SLD, I still believe that Platforma has gone too far by including officials of that state [PRL] on its lists, which is why I cannot hand out leaflets for Mr. Zemke - the senator continued.

- This is a parting. Brexit and Polexit are fashionable today. Rulexit is also possible. I cannot continue my mission, not so much within party structures, because I am not a party member, but within the PO club. I am leaving today, but I am not parting ways, because Platforma has brought many positive elements to Poland - added Rulewski.

- We will present a whole package that will have to fit within the budgetary framework of the part that exists now - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- Then [after the European elections] we will present the entire social policy plan, the 500+ program in every dimension. We will present it honestly before the autumn elections - he added.

How can you not treat this [Emerytury plus] as political corruption if it is allocated only this year and only two weeks before the elections? I cannot vote against if money is allocated to those who need it, i.e., pensioners and disability pensioners. I just want to tell them that the money that PiS is giving you from your, our taxes, is allocated to you so that PiS wins the May elections. That is all it serves - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". - I say: if the 13th pension is to be paid out constantly, also next year, and to keep those who reach retirement age in the labor market, so that they can choose whether they want higher pensions or a decent wage, or not, and to count on the rulers, whoever they are, to give them some money two weeks before the elections, because that is absurd, a humiliation of people - added the PO chairman. As he continued, he is not bidding against PiS, he only wants to emphasize that what PiS is doing serves political corruption.

- After the elections, when building or amending the budget for 2020, we will have knowledge of the possibilities of public finances. I am a responsible politician. I am not a populist. Civic Platform, the European Coalition are not populist groups, which is why I will not be drawn into a bidding war and convinced that Kaczyński wants this much, and Schetyna will outbid him, because that is absurd, it's a path to nowhere - stated Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- His [Donald Tusk's] voice will be very important, his role. I don't want to anticipate him. We agreed, because it was such a good conversation also about high politics, about the future, and I believe there is a huge opportunity. I sincerely urge him not to stay on the sidelines, but to also engage with support for those who want and are fighting for Poland's presence and sovereign presence in Europe. - I proposed to Bogdan Zdrojewski that he run in the Sejm elections, that he lead the Wrocław list, which is special to me because he always achieves excellent results there. - Of course they will receive [the 13th pension], but today the debate is in the Senate. I believe this bill will not return to the Sejm, but nothing can be ruled out. If this bill is voted on and adopted by the Senate, and I am deeply convinced that it will be, we will wait for the president's signature, and the first payments will likely be made on the last day, April 30, to those pensioners and disability pensioners who would receive their benefit on May 1. "Shifting the responsibility [for exams] onto teachers, who began a collective dispute with the government on January 10th, is false, because the government is responsible for the situation, having been unable to talk with teachers for several months. The Prime Minister still hasn't found time for teachers to this day" - said Rafał Grupiński from Civic Platform (PO) in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

"The trade unions wanted this, the teachers wanted this. On numerous occasions, including through me as the chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth, the unions have asked the Prime Minister for a meeting. I sent a special letter to the Prime Minister on this matter" - he added. 

"The real cause of the teachers' strike is President Jarosław Kaczyński, his way of governing the country. Irresponsibility regarding the issue of education, failing to see this problem for several years while Jarosław Kaczyński has been in power, and that is the true reason. Mr. Sasin should not look for these causes within the opposition" - said Rafał Grupiński from Civic Platform in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

- It's very good that young people are taking exams, because they should pass them on time. We cannot stress young people. For this, I thank both teachers, local governments, and school principals for organizing these exams and for the fact that these exams are proceeding - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski in Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy" (The Core of the Matter).

PKN ORLEN has submitted a financing offer in connection with its intention to acquire a 100% stake in Ruch SA. The decision was preceded by a due diligence examination of the company. The investor anticipates restructuring and leveraging synergies between Ruch's existing business model and PKN ORLEN's dynamically developing retail segment. The finalization of the offer will depend on the decisions of Ruch's creditors and other entities involved in the process. – This project holds potential for us, especially in the context of the results achieved by ORLEN's retail segment, which confirm our competencies and business ambitions in this area. Our analyses show that we can achieve synergies with Ruch's operations and, with a consistently implemented restructuring program, we can succeed. Education superintendents have begun, contrary to the law, to collect information including the names of teachers participating in the strike action. Every principal has been obligated to provide a named list of individuals who are withholding their labor. „If teachers have made such a decision [to strike], then they have likely done so consciously, understanding that for the period in which they are not working, they will not receive remuneration, unless it is obtained from other sources. The most important thing in this dispute are the children. We should primarily care for the children. I appeal and very much ask the teachers to remember the children, because it is the children who are getting nervous, they don't know if there will be exams, if they will be graded, if the children will receive a grade. We cannot act this way towards children. I am observing very closely what is happening in our education system. I would very much like this dispute to end and for the teachers to return. Not only because I have five grandchildren who are not attending school, but for them to return to work and focus on what is important for them and for us” – said the Marshal of the Senate, Stanisław Karczewski, at a press conference.

„I will be hated and criticized again because I once said, during the dispute with residents, that one should work for an idea. Yesterday we commemorated the ninth anniversary of the Smoleńsk disaster, and during these observances, President Duda appealed for the restoration of the calm and cooperative atmosphere that prevailed nine years ago on April 10th. This was a very fitting appeal. It seemed to me that, obviously, if the President comes from the PiS milieu, then PiS, as the first to do so, would embrace this appeal. Unfortunately, that did not happen. In fact, things have gotten worse. In Biała Podlaska, Senator Bierecki, my colleague from the senatorial bench, stated that "we will not rest until we cleanse Poland of those unworthy of belonging to the Polish national community." This is a scandalous and utterly unimaginable statement. It brings to mind the worst times of World War II, when similar rhetoric was used about cleansing particular countries and societies of certain individuals. I believe this statement is unworthy of a Senator of the Republic of Poland. In light of this, I am aware that Marshal Karczewski, when asked about it this morning, said he was not familiar with the statement and needed to familiarize himself with it. This statement was made some time ago. I understand that in the meantime, a debate has also emerged online between Minister Brudziński, who called on Senator Bierecki to retract his words, and Senator Bierecki, who indicated that once Minister Brudziński familiarizes himself with the statement, Senator Bierecki would then allow him to speak more precisely on the matter. I understand that perhaps Marshal Karczewski is delaying taking action because he doesn't know who currently holds a stronger position within the PiS camp and has better access to President Kaczyński's ear – whether it's Brudziński or Bierecki. However, I would appeal to move away from these party squabbles and rise to the occasion that his office demands of Marshal Karczewski. This statement is unacceptable, scandalous, and inappropriate, and I would expect Marshal Karczewski to take some action on this matter by the end of the day. The Law and Justice (PiS) parliamentary club has put forward Wojciech Sych as a candidate for the position of judge at the Constitutional Tribunal, following the conclusion of Sławomira Wronkowska-Jaśkiewicz's term. Sych currently serves as a judge in the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. Today, a parliamentary print document appeared on the Sejm's website. The election, according to the schedule, will take place during the current Sejm session, but not before the holidays, on April 25th, within a voting block scheduled between 6:15 PM and 8:15 PM.

„We would like to emphasize very clearly that the words of the PiS senator are unacceptable and should never have been uttered by a politician or anyone holding public office. Talking about purging Poland of people who are not worthy of belonging to our national community evokes associations with the worst times of the last century, when national affiliation decided life or death. „Senator Bierecki, explaining his disgraceful and rascally behavior, spoke of context, saying that we don't know the context. He uttered it as a public official during official state holiday celebrations, accompanied by a soldier in the background. That was the context. Bierecki's behavior, for me, directly connects with the behavior that can be seen on the internet when a Warsaw driver tries to beat up a Ukrainian driver on the street. I see a direct link between the incitement to hatred by high public officials and the behavior of intimidated people encouraged to such aggressive behavior. I expect PiS to remove Senator Bierecki from their ranks today. We demand it” – added Sławomir Nitras from PO.

PO-KO plans to file a report with the prosecutor's office regarding the possibility of Bierecki committing a crime, consisting of propagating fascist ideology.

“Everyone is responsible for their words, but it would be best if Civic Platform focused on their own parliamentarians, not on reviewing others. What will be the outcome – whether Senator Bierecki apologizes or not, I don’t know, but I certainly know that his words were taken out of context” – said Deputy Marshal Beata Mazurek in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm. “I hope he will address the matter; I don’t know his broader statement, but I do not accept that only statements by Law and Justice politicians are reviewed, while opposition politicians can say whatever they want, and then they are not asked such questions” – she added.

"I would like to thank all teachers and those who support them in conducting the exams, who are constantly at work with their students. Once again, you have passed this beautiful exam of responsibility for students. The fact that today the youth could peacefully take another exam is very important for these young people and for all of us, because there is no more important matter at the moment, also for the government, than conducting the exams peacefully," said Deputy Prime Minister Beata Szydło at a press conference in Nowy Sącz.

Oxfam, one of the most well-known organizations globally, which defines the relationships between economic and social policy and their effectiveness among 157 countries, has ranked our social policy first. The European Commission speaks very positively about our economic model, our social model, which has allowed us to eliminate child poverty and has led to many social groups, previously on the fringes, often referred to in the West as the precariat, beginning to function within the mainstream of economic and social life - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Constitutional Tribunal, delivering a lecture titled "Democratic Capitalism for All, Not for the Few."

- When it's necessary to promise farmers pipe dreams and mirages, that there will be subsidies for cows and pigs. We know that these subsidies are as reliable as writing on water. Jarosław Kaczyński makes these kinds of promises. When it's necessary to look after standards for teachers, they all cower and bury their heads in the sand. This government disdains people, it's evident. It disdains teachers, yesterday it disdained nurses, it disdained people with disabilities. Who will be next? What social group will be a victim of Jarosław Kaczyński's government? Szydło: Let's Sign an Agreement! End the Strike, Let's Talk

Prime Minister Beata Szydło appealed to the striking teachers to reach an agreement and end the protest. She emphasized the need for dialogue and finding solutions that will benefit all parties involved.

"I call on the teachers to sign the agreement offered by the government. We have presented a comprehensive proposal that addresses your demands. It is time to end the strike and return to the negotiating table in a calm and constructive atmosphere," Szydło stated in a press conference.

The Prime Minister also stressed that the government is open to further discussions and is willing to consider additional solutions within the available budget. "We understand the importance of education and the role of teachers in shaping the future of our country. We are committed to finding a mutually acceptable solution," she added.

The ongoing teachers' strike has caused significant disruption to the education system, with many schools remaining closed and classes canceled. The teachers are demanding higher salaries and improved working conditions.

Szydło's appeal comes as negotiations between the government and teacher unions have been ongoing for several weeks, with limited progress. The Prime Minister expressed hope that her call for an agreement will lead to a breakthrough and a swift resolution to the dispute.

"Let's put an end to this difficult situation. Let's sign the agreement and let's talk about how we can further improve the education system together," Szydło concluded.

PKO BP's lead over the second-ranked bank in the ranking stands at a significant PLN 20 billion.

PKO Bank Polski is the largest bank in Poland and the most valuable company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

It also holds a considerable advantage in corporate banking. PKO BP serves over 15,000 corporate clients and nearly 500,000 smaller businesses, with the total value of financing for all types of economic entities exceeding 100 billion Polish zlotys. According to the bank's calculations, the difference between PKO BP and the next bank in the ranking is a substantial PLN 20 billion.

"The bank finances significant investments, engages in recovery processes, and supports the development of companies, consistently solidifying its image as the most important partner for Polish entrepreneurship," emphasizes Jakub Papierski, Vice-President of PKO Bank Polski overseeing the Corporate and Investment Banking Area. "Surpassing the PLN 100 billion threshold in receivables from economic entities is a symbolic level that perfectly corresponds with the bank's centenary jubilee celebrated this year," he adds.

According to the bank, the 100 billion zlotys in granted financing comprises nearly PLN 70 billion in loans, PLN 17 billion in leasing, almost PLN 15 billion in municipal bonds, and over PLN 1 billion in factoring limits.

The dominant theme in PKO BP's development strategy, including corporate banking, is the digital transformation of both internal banking processes and customer services. To this end, the bank collaborates with startups and develops mobile channels and advanced data analytics.

PKO Bank Polski's brokerage house is also a leader in its market segment. In 2018, the value of executed turnovers exceeded PLN 33 billion, representing 7.7% of market turnover and placing it in second place in the brokerage house rankings.

In terms of bond trading, the brokerage house accounts for nearly half of the market's turnover, translating to a leading position. At the end of 2018, PKO BP's brokerage house managed approximately 130,000 securities accounts and nearly 200,000 registry accounts.

The latest European election poll by "Wyborcza" shows that the ratings of PiS and the European Coalition are close, with Biedroń's Wiosna being the third force in Poland. Konfederacja (Korwin-Mikke, Liroy, Winnicki, Braun) and Lewica Razem (Razem, Labour Union, Piotr Ikonowicz's Movement of Social Justice) are hovering on the edge of the electoral threshold, while Kukiz'15 is even falling below 5 percent.
